its even better if you know that since he was a child, flowers deepest fear was in fact becoming an echo. so dune is killed in an act of revenge after she hurts the wrong people, and main timeline rivers is destroyed by his consuming after he loses control of them so really everyones bad actions come back to meet them eventually :D
