i just realized that if i get awl for steam, i could try seeing if it's possible to free my kids from het-locked romances. 👀✨️
#it really bummed me out when i found out that my daughter doesn't really interact with kate at all#i think it'd make more sense if the character your kid ends up crushing on was linked to their interests rather than their gender#like if your kid is into ranching farming or athletics they'll crush on hugh#while if your kid is into music art or academics they'll crush on kate#idk if you'd be able to implement that in a mod but i feel like you could at least swap the code for hugh & kate#maybe sometimes games are really fucky wucky with how they lock gender stuff#(like how hard it is to have kids in the gay hack for fe fates. i think you had to edit code yourself to get kids ->)#(in a same sex relationship bc they coded the game in a way that prevented their kids from unlocking it was weird)#hopefully that wouldn't be the case#new rival events or couples could also be fun to try modding in but that might be too much for me 😅#i know the characters have preset animations but figuring out how to move them & fiddling the camera sounds tough#and idk what kind of modding engine you'd use for that or if you could even implement that#i saw that someone was modding in flora as a romance candidate but they had to swap nami w/ her bc you couldn't just add new candidates#so that might not be possible#idk i'm just pondering at this point 🤔#mj.txt

hmm ya know... i've been in the fire emblem fandom since awakening (so around 9ish years!!) and it's so fun and refreshing to see a f/f lord ship as popular as el&by especially compared to the f/m verison
this isn't me bashing on f/m el&by because it's the same ship as f/f, but in every fandom (not just fire emblem) it's so rare to find a femslash ship being the most popular. in most fandoms m/m and f/m rein king. [you can see a large distinction like this when you look at the bleagles and lions fandoms]
going back to my awakening days, the way the game was structured left very little room for queer couples despite the little bit of gay-hinting or butt-of-the-joke content the game did give us. do you know how hard it was (still kinda is!) to find f!robin/lucina content? we had so little to go off of, we even started hacking our 3DSes just to have the option to be gay and let characters get gay married.
and when fates rolled around and finally gave the avatar options for gay marriage (1 man & 1 woman each), they locked us out of being able to have children like the other couples could! like they literally added extra lines of code to keep the same sex couples from having kids! so we made mods for that game too to fix the child mechanic and give us more gay options.
to see the next game roll around and give us actual blatantly bisexual characters and allow more options for same sex marriage was just amazing. I've genuinely never had so much fun in a canon compliant FE fandom
so anyways, I just think it's neat to see how far the games have come and in turn how the fandom has changed too. sorry to y'all out there that want more m!el&by content, I get it I really do!! and at the same time, if you want more content I would definitely recommend trying your own hand at it! after all, it's what I used to do too when there wasn't any content for my ships
