I just noticed that in the Curse of Eerie Acres in the second year the curse that worries Bingo, of his cousins' unexpected anger (most likely the influence of the Skulking Ire at work), seems to only affect the male hobbits of the Boffin clan. Berilac and Griffo are not enjoying the festival, but Camilla, Angelica, and Marigold are having a perfectly fine time. It's Fosco who gets into a fight with Bingo, and when you return from your investigation, you learn that Fosco has gotten into another fight with him, with "the support of several of his brothers." Not sisters. I don't think this is meant to tie into anything necessarily (although I will think about it long and hard for some time) and it may just be coincidence, but it's an interesting detail.
#lotro#like im trying to think#thematically most of the ghost stories have male protagonists#but i dont think that means anything#does the skulking ire prey on males specifically?#is he leveraging societal expectations that may have been present in cardolan to try and drive men to go to war#to rather different results in the shire#why does dinodas seem unaffected#am i reading too much into what is most likely just a personality thing that coincidentally happened to run along gender lines#why does the wiki act like the griffo boffin in needlehole is meant to be the same griffo boffin from the boffin clan quests#when he uses a completely different model including a whole other hair color and is like. an adult with a job#on the other side of the shire from where this griffo lives#(the boffin children arent explicitly children but like. they live with their mom and their mom gets to tell them what they can and cant do#(no notes on griffo specifically but marigold goes on her adventures behind her mothers back)#(and bingo runs his prank on dinodas past her before enacting it. which you would only do if he was a child)#(i suppose its possible that griffo is an adult who still lives with his mother and kid siblings but thats certainly never established)#(and we are very much led to think of the boffin children as. well. children)#this is all completely unrelated to the above i just went to the wiki to see how to spell something and had additional questions#these are obviously two different griffo boffins and not the same person at all
