expounding on those last tags. listen. I like playing genshin in en for some characters. I think itto is amazing in en, like, it is such a joy play his events in en. same with fischl, she's great in en and honestly, with how convoluted her dialogue can be, fischl is a character better suited to being heard in a language I can understand. also, her va does a pretty good job!! albedo is great in en too. I don't need to switch languages for these characters. most characters are fine I think. like, kokomi, klee, and xingqiu are cool in any language as far as I'm concerned. scaramouche is amazing in all languages imo. I think each language plays up different sides of him more, but they're all still undeniable scaramouche.

but. but!! there are some characters who are just really different in cn. xiao, kaeya, venti, and paimon specifically. there are probably other characters too, but to me those four are just completely different characters in cn. xiao is not aggressively emo!! he's not that edgy, he's just reticent. venti is playful, but he's also more nurturing and gentle than en allows!! like, I think en is great at making him a bard, but cn straddles the line between bard and archon a bit more. his voice line about albedo really shows it.

I've seen so many complaints about paimon, which is very sad I think, because she's a sweet child! she's naive and just wants to be helpful. en paimon can be annoying, but cn paimon is a treasure!!

kaeya, on the other hand, is just the Most Different in cn. I cannot emphasize this enough, it actually boggles me how he's a completely different person when he talks in en. like, in en, he gives off this impression of a guarded, flirty, sly guy who acts chill but is probably scheming in the background. cn kaeya? he's so earnest!! he's so genuine and open, like have you seen how he talks to klee or diluc? he can be childish and bratty! he can act cute and playful but in a more sincere way than I've ever seen him act in en. and it blows my mind because this doesn't just affect kaeya, this affects how I see those people he has relations with. like, yeah, this is exactly the kind of person klee likes to hang out with, the kind of person diluc would bicker with but dote on from a distance. this is the kind of person who would be troubled about his past when dainsleif mentions it. kaeya is not that mysterious or suspicious around the people he trusts! he's so much more expressive and honest and other characters like him for that.

Who's your favourite character?

for genshin, its without a doubt xiao. ive mostly lost interest in the game (but that obsession will probably come back in a few months stronger than ever, just give it some time to cook lol), however he still has a special place in my heart, y'know? like, i wasnt that much of a fan before i found out how fucking bad his english translation was (no offence to laila, though. she's a sweetheart i just dont think she was a good choice for him :/). i also adore his chinese VA, kinsens voice is so good!

A few honorable mentions would be: venti, zhongli, guizhong, gorou, scara, yanfei and yelan

hsr is also a very quick answer lol. its yanqing! i first found out about him from the joke that he was xiaoaether's kid, since im very fond of that ship. and even when i started playing, something about him just made me love him, and i wanted to get him as the free five star (and i did! hes my strongest character yet). to me, hes very much "some kid" but thats what i like about him, hes charming, hes cute and has alot of story potential.

The Songs That Traveled The World Au Extra! Character lines and fan reactions headcanons!

(Y/N) Fan Reactions:

Once people had seen your cutscene of you performing. It was very well received!The Genshin Impact Fandom has dubbed you as: {The Second Jun Yin} and a whole bunch of other nicknames. Probably due to the fact that your peformance hits hard just like her's. But some fans don't really enjoy the fact your character is compared to her, some even ship you two together.

In some fanfics, ya'll perform together and are seen as rivals to lovers. The same goes for Ventix(Y/N) shippers! People are BEGGING for a duet for the two VAs and canon interaction.

Yet for the npcs and characters in game. They are freaking out over (Y/N)'s existence. Rumors start to spread like wildfire throughout each region. The story goes like this.. A Songstress, or being? That could sing a powerful song that even Lord Barbatos would hear from the hevans above.

How the air had surrounded her like a cage but was freed after her song. Yet... Mysteriously vanished after she collapsed to the ground when a fan had tired to engage conversation. People say she fainted due to the fact that Lord Barbatos had gifted her a vision after her song as thanks. But the poor girl couldn't handle the power...

It still doesn't explain how she vanished off the streets of The City of Freedom.

Venti:

"Oh Traveler! Would you mind listening to this piece? I have been working it for some time, but it... Who's it for? Oh, just a, well a friend you might say. We met her together, don't you remember?"

"I honestly envy his harmonies, I wish I could sing one of his songs... But I'd think my heart might burst, you know? Maybe one day."

Once those voice lines are released as a small gift to fans that found (Y/N). The fans went crazy. People are waiting for the next appearance and see if Mihoyo is generous enough to provide more character interacting voicelines. There's so many fan covers of you two doing duets to fan music made specifically for you two. The fans dubs the two of you, "Song Birds". It's honestly really cute! Even though you only appear for a second, just the look on the bards face in the cutscene made the Venti simps cry in agony seeing their home-boy remembering his truma.

Travelers, Aether/Lumine:

Since the update, people are hopping to find small crumbs or more appearances of (Y/N). She has a story quest, which is to find her and interact. But for some reason, when you do find her, you can't choose options on what to say. You can only listen to the twin you picked or Paimon talk with her with pre-recorded? voicelines and actions coded into the game? There's a bunch of fan comics of the two doing a shy, cat and mouse romances for both twins.

With Aetherx(Y/N) fans, there fans make it have a angsty trope most of the time. Where Aether remembers his times with Lumine and (Y/N) soothing his fears as best she can. The fans make its SOO Angsty, like when Aether finds his sister and has to leave (Y/N). GOD, ITS SO SAD! YET SO GOOD! Modern Au art and fluff art plus fics is the only way fans cannot cry at some of the angsty headcanons.

Luminex(Y/N) fans make there's so cute. There's barely any angst fics or headcanons. Most the time it's just fluff for you two. Headcanons of Lumine and you being parents of Paimon are actually really common. It's so Floof!Luminex(Y/N) content is seen as Canon. Luminex(Y/N) vs Aetherx(Y/N) fans actually are really nice with one another. No wars, only peace! 🤝

Diluc:

Most fans of this ship make Club Singer Aus out of this, or Mafia Au! The fics are surprisingly superb and hard-core! Like this is almost too realistic type of shit. Yet for just normal genshin, it makes the two give off a Prince and Commoner type troupe. Yet more angst ( ' - '). The comics are very sweet, where instead of Diluc listening to her troubles.

She listens to his own with a smile. People take even the tiniest interactions and turn them to full comics and full on dramatic art.

Speculations

I’m gonna make some guesses here, see if I turn out to be right when Mihoyo finally release Act.??? and Khaenri’ah

(SPOILERS BELOW)

Been thinking about the Genshin story trailer (the one titled “Travail”, dubbed in Japanese by Kaiba-kun Kenjiro Tsuda) in what little free time I had, and had a thought just now:

There are a few visual motifs that keep popping up throughout Genshin, I will list the ones I’ve noticed and some examples of each:

Four point star:

top of game’s logo

oculus location markings on the map

statues of the seven

Kaeya’s pupils and clothing

Dainsleif’s pupils and clothing

the Unknown Kiana God’s pupils and clothing

There are other "regional" visual motifs we can see so far, and these are the bird/feather/wings motifs in Mondstadt, and the square/diamond shapes we find throughout Liyue (also featured prominently as a design element for both the dragon and Zhongli...hmm......). These show that visual motifs do indeed connect places, characters, items, etc...so how are the archons, Dainsleif, Kaeya, the Unknown God, Paimon, and the Twins connected?

At the beginning of the game, the Traveler was talking to Paimon, telling Paimon what he/she remembers about how he/she came to be in Teyvat, and that it was a long time ago, 500 years to be exact. Paimon had apparently taught the Traveler/you many things shortly before the journey began, and was the one who suggested seeking out the seven archons in order to find your twin brother/sister's whereabouts. Incredibly, Paimon also has the ability to time travel into the future, but not the past.

In Mondstadt you meet Venti who is actually Barbatos, the anemo archon. After falling victim to the Tsaritsa's plan to take other archons' gnoses, Barbatos told you that anyone who has a Vision can make it to the island in the sky and claim a throne as a god, and that these chosen people are called genshin/原神 (the name of the game), or "proto-gods".

You journey to Liyue Harbor on foot to meet the geo archon Morax, but instead you saw a giant corpse, or so it appears. Wandering around Liyue, you come across various monuments and books telling of an ancient war between many gods, the Archon War, which established the current 7 archons of Teyvat. The Archon War was brutal, bloody and just frickin long, but the gods involved weren't all in it for the power. Some were forced, others had irreconcilable differences.  Morax became the geo archon when he survived and emerged victorious in the region of Liyue.

And that is what we currently know about the nature of Archons.  They are mortals (not mutually exclusive with the concept of gods here) of Teyvat who emerged triumphant in the fight for the “thrones in the sky”.  As for the identity of the Unknown God, Dainsleif, the Traveler twins, and Paimon, I can only speculate, but there are some clues, albeit not very solid clues.  Yet.

The first one is the background of the official art for the Traveler twins and the background of the official art for Dainsleif:

Notice the background?  That is virtually the same symbol, just colored differently.

Then there are the Celtic knots.  Notice the ones on the design of Dainsleif.  Notice the ones on the Unknown God:

Then notice the trailing ribbon-like pieces of fabric on the back of the Unknown God.  Notice the trailing ribbons behind Lumine.  

And the cape of Dainsleif vs. the cape of Aether.

Compare the bangs of the Unknown God to the bangs of Lumine, then compare the bangs of Dainsleif to the bangs of Aether.

Remember the sea of flowers in the Travail trailer?  Compare that to the flowers in Lumine’s hair.  Consider how the narrator of the trailer--which in the JP dub is the same VA who’s going to voice Dainsleif--talked about making Aether fight him in order to prove that Aether is more worthy to rescue “her”, the same “her” who he remembers “loved those flowers”.

I’m going to make a guess here:

The Unknown God is (an older) Lumine, and Dainsleif is (an older) Aether.

I know there are many who thought the Unknown God was God Kiana from the Honkai series, but at this point I think it was more of a reference to the Honkai series than a plot point (to introduce players unfamiliar with Mihoyo’s games to the Honkai series).  For one, I believe someone from Mihoyo did an interview where they said that a larger-scaled game like Genshin was something they wanted to make when they made HI3, but they simply did not have the resources to do so, and now they can tell the story they’ve always wanted to tell.  If this is true, and I think it probably is, then the world of Teyvat bearing similarities to the world of Honkai Impact is pretty well-explained:  they stemmed from the same basic story ideas.  Are there any connections plot-wise?  Maybe, but I don’t think so.

But why would an older Lumine and an older Aether exist in the same time as the younger Lumine and Aether?  How can the same people experience the same time point twice, isn’t that some sort of paradox?

There’s no way to answer this question right now, but there are definitely some time-traveling shenanigans going on here.  I mean, look at Paimon.  Paimon has time manipulation powers that we can utilize in-game, but interestingly she (?) can only travel to the future and not to the past.  Add to that the recurring motif of cycles (”that throne in the sky is never reserved for you” and the mentions of “usurper”)............maybe the Unknown God and Dainsleif as they appear now are past incarnations of Lumine and Aether.  If so, this won’t be the first time Mihoyo toyed with the idea of reincarnation (see Dr. Mei & Raiden Mei, Himeko & Himeko, Sakura & Yae Sakura, etc etc etc).

It’s also unclear where the twins actually came from.  There are two possibilities as of now, Celestia (island in the sky) or Khaenri’ah.  The former is somewhat supported by the Gnostic Chorus teaser (”glorious kingdom established among the heavens”), while the latter is hinted at in the Travail story trailer (Dainslief is introduced in the section for Khaenri’ah).  Ad astra abyssoque.

Finally, some random stuff I’ve noticed.  Genshin contains a few references to Norse mythology.  Dainslief is the name of a sword from Norse mythology that cannot be sheathed unless it takes a life.  And the white tree that spread its roots throughout Teyvat mentioned in various places.....Yggdrasil anyone?

Raphael and Simon

The next day

Glitter-mania: hey Raphael do you want to come to pandemonium this Friday?

The grouch: No. I’m going to have breakfast with my Mama Saturday morning and I don’t want to have a hangover when I’m with her.

Glitter-mania: okay let me rephrase that. Raphael you’re coming to pandemonium with us this Friday.

The grouch: No I’m not.

Glitter-mania: yes you are. You do know you’re not getting out of this right?

The grouch: yeah, yeah, I know it was worth a shot.

Glitter-mania: good. Alright so be at my house at 8:30 sharp. If you’re late I’ll come to your dorm and drag you to pandemonium. Got it?

The grouch: yeah, yeah, whatever.

Glitter-mania: gotta go

Biscuit: Magnus you're in charge of getting Raphael to pandemonium before 9:00. I'll get Simon there at 8:30. Izzy make sure his outfit stays in good condition. If something happens to it I want you on it.

Glitter-mania: Alright looks like everyone has their part of the plan handled. What about you biscuit?

Biscuit: oh I'm covered.

Idiotblonde: so what is your part?

Kickbuttfighter: yeah we want to know

Biscuit: okay, okay, so I got him to accept the gig and I picked out the song he's going to perform.

Glitter-mania: what is it and how is he going to know it by tomorrow night?

Biscuit: it's called ‘I think about you’ it’s from one of his favorite TV shows called Austin and Ally.

Kickbuttfighter: nice choice but does he know it well enough to play it?

Biscuit: It’s the song that got him into music in the first place. He'll be just fine.

Idiotblonde: good I don't want to go through all this trouble and him not know this song.

Biscuit: he'll be fine. Gotta go my breaks over.

Kickbuttfighter: bye

Later that night

Simon’s POV

I stopped by the café Clary works at and got a hot venti Mocha. I went back to my dorm and realized that my pants for tomorrow night were sitting on the table in front of my bed. I set my coffee down next to them and then picked up my pants and like the clumsy guy I am tripped over my own feet. I tried to grab on to the table but I hit the coffee which knocked it over onto my pants.

Oh God. No, no, no, no, no, no, this is not happening. Izzy’s going to kill me. I can't believe this is happening. Actually I can this is me we’re talking about. Simon Lewis the clumsiest guy since first grade. I knew I should have let Izzy take it with her. But I thought what could happen in one night.

Okay, okay. Simon calm down don't panic. Okay I have two options call Izzy and die or fix it and never tell her this happened. Alright I'll go with the latter.

I picked them up and went to the laundry room. Of course it had to be leather it couldn’t be jeans or anything simple. I put them in the washer then poured some bleach in. I shut the lid and turned the dial to five. I went back into the kitchen and got something to drink I went in and sat on my couch. I tried to think of something else and get my mind off of what happened hoping it would be okay.

Then I heard a ding and I set my drink down. I went and lifted the lid I didn't even look at them I was too nervous. I put them in the dryer and put a dryer sheet in. I closed the dryer and turned the dial to 15 minutes.

I went back to my room to see if I could clean what was left of my coffee. I got a towel from the bathroom and went to scrub the floor. After about five minutes I gave up figuring that it would be there till I got a new carpet.

I decided to practice the song for tomorrow night while I waited. Music always seemed to calm me down. I played for about ten minutes then the dryer went off. I got my pants out of the dryer and I knew my life was over.

My leather pants have now become my leather shorts. That happen to be pink. I'm not even sure how that happened. I started to pace trying to figure out what to do now.

I heard my doorbell ring and threw the pants into the laundry basket. I went to answer the door and realized it was Izzy. Okay, okay, Simon keep calm don't let her know what happened.

I opened the door and said, “Hey Izzy, what brings you by?”

“I was in the neighborhood and decided to check on you and make sure your outfit was ready for tomorrow.”

“Well, then sorry to tell you that everything here is fine. The clothes are fine I'm fine everything’s fine. Bye see you tomorrow.” I said nervously shutting the door.

She put her foot in front of the door to stop it. “Simon what did you do?”

“What do you mean? I didn't do anything.” I replied trying to keep cool.

“Simon I've known you long enough to know when you're lying. Now tell me what you did!”

Knowing it was futile to argue any more I opened the door and let her in. I went back to the laundry room to get them.

“Before I tell you anything promise me you won't kill me.”

“I don't make promises I can't keep. What happened?”

I took a deep breath and explained what happened. After I finished explaining I handed her the offending garments.

"Idiota, ¿cómo pudiste ser tan estúpido? ¿Por qué no me llamaste antes? Sabía que debería haberlos llevado conmigo. ¿Qué vamos a hacer? ¿Alguna vez has lavado el cuero antes o cualquier ropa para ese asunto? Oh, Dios mío ¿Qué va a decir Clary?”

“Okay I can tell you’re upset because you just called me an idiot. No I've never had to wash leather before. That is my first pair of leather pants and I only have them because you bought them for me today. I got a whole new outfit that I'm only going to wear once.” I replied

“Wait you know Spanish?”

“Well, yeah a little bit. My dad new Spanish so I learned it then. After he died we stopped using it because it upset my mom. I continued to learn it in school until my freshman year of high school.”

“Wow. You're full of surprises aren't you Simon Lewis?”

“Yes both good and bad. Now as much as I would love to focus on my many talents could we please figure out what to do about my pants?”

“Oh right. Why didn't you call me when you first spilled something on them?

“I thought I could fix it so you wouldn't be mad and kill me. That only made it worse.” I said rubbing the back of my neck.

“Well the only thing we can do is buy another pair.”

“Alright then that's what we'll do. I have no classes tomorrow so I'm free. I think you are too cause if you did you wouldn't be up right now.” I said looking at my phone.

It is 11:30

“Okay so tomorrow I'll come by and pick you up. Then we'll go shopping again. Where's your jacket and shirt?”

“They’re in my closet, why?”

“Because I'm taking them with me so they don't get ruined.”

“Fair point.”

I went in to my room and got the shirt the jacket and the shoes out of the closet. I came back and handed them to her. “You’ll probably want to take the shoes too.”

“Ahh yes don't want them to get messed up either.”

We talked for a little while longer then she left. I went to my room and almost as soon as I laid down I fell asleep.

Kickbuttfighter: hey slight mishap with Simon’s pants. Got it all under control.

Biscuit: Izzy what the heck happened?

Glitter-mania: Izzy please tell me that you can fix this.

Idiotblonde: my God

Kickbuttfighter: Simon got coffee then like the clumsy guy he is tripped over his own feet. Then he tried to fix it so I wouldn’t find out which just made it worse.

Biscuit: please tell me you can fix it.

Kickbuttfighter: yes and no.

Glitter-mania: what do you mean yes and no?

Kickbuttfighter: yes I can fix it but no I cannot fix them. He spilled the coffee on his pants then tried to fix it well when leather gets hot it shrinks. But don’t worry I’m taking him shopping again tomorrow to get a new pair.

Biscuit: Alright do you have the rest of his outfit?

Kickbuttfighter: yes I thought of that too don’t want any mishaps with the rest of his outfit.

Biscuit: good Alright everyone get some sleep. Izzy you better be well rested for tomorrow. Simon can be a handful when it comes to shopping. Goodnight.

Kickbuttfighter: Alright Goodnight.
