       “ Your invitation was most unexpected, Monsieur Neuvillette. ” Lifting her teacup from its saucer, Navia flashed Neuvillette a warm smile. Unexpected, perhaps, but not unwelcome: it really spoke volumes about Fontaine's cold, unfeeling Chief Justice that he had invited her personally to tea at the Palais Mermonia, something she had never heard of him doing prior to Lady Furina's departure from public life. No doubt he wanted to ask after Poisson, which was proof if she'd still needed it that the days of his perceived apathy towards Fontaine, its laws and its people were long behind him. Cold on the outside, but thoughtful on the inside. It was as if, over recent weeks, Navia had finally been afforded a glance behind the curtain that had always separated him from the ordinary citizen, elevated him from the defendant and prosecutor in every case he presided over. It had never been apathy that had guided his hand. He cared more than most, but perhaps had never known what to do with it, nor how to express it. In a way, it was an endearing quality.

       The thought was enough to light up her blue gaze, teasing. “ Before you know it, you'll be entertaining guests as well as our former Archon — though I personally never had the pleasure. ” In all seriousness, she could not imagine how challenging the past weeks must have been. A nation without an Archon, a country that had survived its fated Great Flood, but still needed repairs and rebuilding. She did not envy his position and, in spite of Lady Furina's many faults, without her it must have been a daunting prospect to face all alone. “ It can't have been easy to take over so unexpectedly, particularly under the circumstances. ”

I would like to request a Yandere!SAGAU + Teen!Reader

Basically, since it’s a (Platonic) Yandere, I think they would basically all coddle {Reader}

Like since they’re a God and all, they’re dressed in fancy attire- but the clothes are always to big on them or they’re made in soft colors, so the characters coo over how ‘tiny’ and ‘cute’ {Reader} is

And if any of them are designers, they make them cut outfits like poofy dresses or little suits and force them to wear it

Like {Reader} is like, “I’m a teen! And a GOD! I refuse to wear this!” But they still end up wearing it lol

And maybe the characters fighting for their attention and time, maybe becoming a little too aggressive towards each other.. Maybe even threatening others to stay away from {Reader}..

Or! Or, if they talk about their family before they were transported, the characters engrave that into their brains basically and try to act like their them, or get upset that they mention that and say how they’re their ‘new family’

Yes, Reader is coddled to high heaven. The archons have had unoffical custody court over you. With some math done by Neuvillette, each archon/ region gets equal time with you. You're a young human and young god, so everyone thinks you need protection from everything. There are different types of coddling that you experience, all based on the type of platonic yandere the character is.

Mom Types: these platonic yanderes will now act like your new mom. They are strict, caring, and will make sure you become well rounded if it's the last thing they do. While there is variety in the parenting styles among these yanderes, there is still a common thread between them.

Whenever you try and argue about wearing the fancy clothes, the mom and dad types use their authority voices, the aunt and uncle types use bribery, and the sibling and cousin types uses a mix of puppy dog eyes and bribery.

They is a lot of rivalry. Different sets of sibling are at each other's throats, the cousin and sibling types are usually at odds. Some mom and dad types bicker while the aunt and uncle types compete with each other and the mom and dad types. It's a mess you're always caught up in, and it's is never fun.

If you mention anything good about your family back home, the respective type of platonic yandere will try and copy that behavior. If you mention anything bad, they'll avoid that behavior like the plague

When you woke up the next morning, you did what you always did since Neuvillette turned into an otter, you headed to the bathroom to check on him….

….to find the tub empty. 

The last visage of sleepiness faded away as you stared at the tub, completely empty of water. 

And the last thread that you had trying to hold everything together in such a tumultuous time, snapped.  A sense of panic overcame you. You twisted quite violently, intending on calling for Neuvillette when you bump into something. 

Hard…

You were dimly aware of the soft yet sturdy hands grasping your shoulders. It took you a moment to realize someone was speaking. You blinked dumbly as you looked up, to see your husband Neuvillette gazing down at you, his eyebrows pinched slightly. 

“Y/N, please calm yourself. Breathe, my love. Everything is alright. I am here.” Neuvillette murmured, reaching down to bring your hand up to rest over his heart. 

Neuvillette had been quite surprised when he woke up back in his human form. The water was stone-cold, not exactly ideal, so he stood gracefully, easing the creaks from his newly reformed body before turning and letting the water out. 

As he waited for the water to drain, he eased the door open. He knew you were long since asleep. He should have time to get a shower and dress before you awoke. But he didn’t want to go too far, nor did he want to disturb your rest. However, despite his good intentions, you still managed to start descending into panic anyway. As such, he only managed to slip into his pants before you woke up. 

It took a moment, as you stared at Neuvillette. Then: “Neuvillette?” 

“I’m right here.” 

Your gaze dropped to your hand over his chest. You curled your hand slightly as if you could cup his heart. You could feel the steady beat of his heart, proof that he was okay.  Then you looked back up and with trembling fingers reached up to cup his face. His lavender eyes gazed steadily down at you. 

“Are you…really okay?” You gave him a once over glance before returning back to his face. 

A small quirk tugged at his lips, “Indeed. I am well.” 

“H-h-how?” 

“Perhaps Mr. Lyney wasn’t far off the mark yesterday.” 

You stared a moment before furrowing your eyebrows, “I always kissed your head every night since you've become an otter. I highly doubt that was it.” 

Neuvillette raised an eyebrow, “Oh? Then perhaps it was time gated the entire time? Either way, your guess is as good as mine. I’m only thankful at this point in time, but we have other matters to attend to. Forgive me, Y/N. I know this is moving entirely too fast.” 

“No, no, it’s fine.” You dropped your hands from his face, “The pressing matter is reintroducing you back into society with a story they’ll believe and looking into what turned you into an otter in the first place.” 

“Thank you for caring for the Melsuines while I was…shall we say, incapacitated.” 

You looked at him sharply, “You weren’t dead, Hydro Dragon. You were just an otter. But no gratitude is necessary. I think of the Melsuines as my own as well.” 

At this, Neuvillette gave a fond, soft smile. You were a little taken aback. It’s been a minute since you seen his face, much less when he decided to emote. You cleared your throat and turned away from him. More for his sake than yours. If you had your way, you would be selfish enough to keep Neuvillette to yourself until tomorrow as the latest. But others has been kept in suspense long enough. 

“I’ll tell Traveler and Navia to come over. Between the four of us, we can come up with something. You can finish getting dressed.” 

Before you could step away, two arms wrapped around you from behind.

“I promise. We’ll have time to ourselves soon enough, my love. We deserve that after all this unnecessary drama.” 

“Hm.” You nodded once. 

Instead of letting go, Neuvillette’s hug became a little firmer as he dropped is head to the crook of your shoulder.  He really wanted to forsake the world, if only to prolong this for a moment longer.

Would another day really hurt?

Yet, he had a duty to the people of Fontaine. The ludex of Fontaine going missing was too big of a headline to ignore. But he also had a duty as a husband. He wanted nothing more than to take you further into his arms. Both duties conflicted with one another. 

You reached up with both hands to grasp his arm as you spoke quietly, “Keep this up, and you’ll tempt me.” 

Neuvillette rose his head, “You are mistaken, Y/N. You are the temptation. One that I wish nothing more right now to drown in.” 

“Neuvillette please….” 

He reached over with one hand and tilted your chin. His lavender eyes were smoldering, “I’m at your mercy. Please be kind to me.” 

You snatched away from him with a laugh, “Neuvillette, please! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but you need to control yourself. Now, I won’t tell you again! Get dressed!” 

You all but ran out of the room. You needed to keep it together for a while longer. First, let’s alert the Traveler and Navia. 

Yes, let’s do that.

If the absence of the ludex of Fontaine was a spectacle, the return was nothing less than a circus. At this point, you were happy to let the others do clean-up work, you didn’t really care much for the finer points. You were just satisfied to have Neuvillette back. You knew that Neuvillette and the Traveler had looked into what turned him into an otter, but there wasn’t much to go on.

Strangely, he didn’t really remember how it happened, other than it was in that area. He seemed to remember smelling something weird but nothing else. Traveler did a thorough inspection but found nothing as well. 

It seemed it would remain a mystery to all… 

The first day back, Neuvillette went back to Mersua Village and you went with him. You laughed as the younger Melsuines all crawled over Neuvillette. It was a wonder he wasn’t sitting in a flood of tears. 

Neuvillette took it in stride, perfectly composed as he gave his assurances and hugged and kissed as many wanted it. It was hours before the village could begin to return to some semblance of normal. That was the last time you would see Neuvillette for a long period of time. 

For the next three weeks, Neuvillette had paperwork and trials that had been put on hold, backed up, that he needed to catch up on. You insisted on bringing him lunch and dinner and ate with him, to have a little bit of time together. He even slept in his office to make up for lost time. He was always apologetic, but you should just shook your head with a warm smile. You wanted to make his life as painless as possible. 

Now that Neuvillette was back to normal, you could return to your work at a flower shop. The work kept your mind occupied as the days passed. 

Then one day, just as you were finishing the preparations for dinner, the door open. You furrowed your eyebrows. Who the-?

You peeked out of the kitchen, suspicious, only to be dumbfounded. “Neuvillette?”

“I hope I’m not too late for dinner?” 

“Uh, I was just going to start making my way there.” You had already put everything in their proper containers for the would have been on the go meal. 

Neuvillette gave a small bow, “Forgive me. I would have sent word, but I wanted it to be a surprised, and truly I didn’t know until almost the last minute. Would it be troubling to change the to-go order?” 

“Uh, no problem. No problem at all!” You stated before pulling back into the kitchen to plate everything. 

Neuvillette had disappeared into the bathroom to freshen up before returning, just as you placed the plate of steaming hot food on the table. 

“I managed to get the rest of the evening off. I had hoped to spend the evening with my wife.” 

“You caught up to everything?” You asked as you sat down with your own plate. 

“Define caught up? There is always trials and paperwork I could be doing, but me and my capable staff has managed to get it back to a semblance of normal. Besides, the Melsuines have been antsy….” 

“Oh, what for? Are they alright?” you asked as you both tucked into your food. 

“Oh, yes, they are well. Sedene and the others are concerned that I have been neglecting you. Sedene all but pushed me out the door.”

You laughed once, “Hardly. I understand your work. This was an unfortunately unseen incident that needed to be addressed.” 

“While that was true, it is no longer. The incident has been contained, and we have since come through on the other side. There is time for….other things.” 

You choked and coughed once. 

Neuvillette reached out and touched his hand over yours, “You alright?” 

“Yes, I’m fine. Wrong pipe.” 

“Hm…” 

Comfortable silence lingered as you ate the rest of your food. Once you were almost done, you asked, “I take it you aren’t due back until tomorrow morning?” 

“Tomorrow afternoon. After lunch, actually.” 

“Really?” 

“Hm. Sedene put her hands on her hips and said if she saw me before then, bad things would happen.” 

“Bad things?” 

“I suppose that was her way of trying to coerce me not to show up before the appropriate time.” 

You chuckled. It was a cute rendition of trying to be a threat. “I suppose we don’t want a Melusine revolt.” 

“Indeed not. I shall endeavor to heed her wish…this time.” 

“A good deal.” You stated as you stood and collected the plates before walking over to the washer. You were going to absently start cleaning up with two arms wrapped around you. 

“Those can keep until tomorrow.” 

“Says the one that doesn’t have to do it.” You murmured, but you leaned back into his chest anyway. It didn’t seem like you needed much convincing. 

Neuvillette wordlessly turned you around before grasping your hand. You followed him to the couch before sitting down. He sat only after you did. 

Then he raised his hand and cupped your cheek, “I hadn’t the time to properly thank you for your assistance during this incident. You did admirable to keep everything together and keep it moving. Even in these last three weeks, I hadn’t heard a word of complaint. I know all of this has been hard on you. Please don’t lock yourself away anymore. I’m here now.” 

You shook your head as you lowered your gaze. You blinked. Ahh, now your eyes were becoming wet. You absently shook your head to clear it away. 

Neuvillette lifted your chin, “Cry if you want to cry. I’ve finished my duty to Fontaine for the moment. Now I must see to my duty to my wife.” 

You gave a breathless sob coupled with a laugh, “I don’t…” 

“Hush. You don’t have to keep it together anymore. Not right now.” He leaned his forehead on yours, “I’m here to catch you, my love.” 

Then you were sobbing. All the stress since the start of this incident pouring out. Neuvillette gathered you in his arms, holding you close. One hand stroked your back soothingly while the other held the back of your head. He could feel you shudder in his arms, as you held tight onto him. He wouldn’t dare let go before you did. 

When your sobs died down, you rested in his arms, head on his shoulder. One hand reached up and began playing with his hair. Now you were feeling tired. You hummed as you felt him kiss your forehead. 

“Thank you…” you finally murmured. 

“Such a thing is unnecessary.” Neuvillette returned, using the hand of the arm wrapped around you to tilt your chin. With his other hand, he began to carefully wipe away the tears. He was being so gentle, it made you want to cry all over again. 

“Take as much as you need, hm?” Neuvillette murmured, “As long as you don’t hide yourself. We are on your time now.” 

You couldn’t seem to check your emotions, even though it was clear you didn't’ not have to. You duck your head into Neuvillette’s shoulder, hiding your face from him. Did he know what you felt when he looked at you like that? 

“Perhaps…there is something you want?” Neuvillette asked. 

You shook your head, “I’m just grateful for your return.” 

“Yes, something else, perhaps?” 

“Your good health.” 

“Hm. And?” 

“Your happiness?” 

“Just I want your happiness as well, but right now, if you excuse my being presumptuous, I think there is something else you want above all of that. And lest you are mistaken, it is something I’d want just as well.” 

“Oh?” This time, a smile teased as your lips as you let out a giggle. 

“Hm.” 

Neuvillette tilted your head once again, forcing you to meet his gaze. His lavender eyes had gotten a shade deeper, and your breath caught. You couldn’t break away from his gaze, even if you wanted to. His leaned forward, the mere inch that separated you, lips hovering over yours. Your eyes fluttered. It felt you had kept your emotions in check for so long, that even now you feared letting go. 

“My love, let you catch you.” 

At his whisper, you closed the space, surging forward to capture his lips.

Genshin G/t ideas (this does include 4.2 AQ spoilers!)

(Because it's been a while since I indulged in a bit of fandom G/t. Some of these are stories I am planning on working on, and some are just ideas I just wanna throw out there) Nothing of this is too elaborative, just general ideas! Long text under the cut! This also gets so much more descriptive by each idea I have, I am treating this sort of like a drafts for how I should word it should I continue to writing some stories. So they will also abruptly end without a conclusion here, and with a lot of rambling, I apologize beforehand for that <3 Warnings: Fearfulness from the tinies, spoilers (but not really beyond the latest AQ), long post, feel free to tell me if I missed something!

A shrunken Furina and the caring Hydro Sovereign that finds her(after the AQ) - Neuvillette finds her in her house one day shrunken. She had hidden underneath her bed, and he coaxes her out patiently. Yes, Furina absolutely trusts her friend, but this is still a very exhausting and scary situation she has found herself in. He assesses the situation and sits with her, calming her down for a long time after she’s come forth - Maybe even a development of his protectiveness ;-D - He has a specific pocket just for Furina until they can fully address and fix her situation, he does not keep her there against her will, and even when protective of the human he trusts her to not do anything hasty. He is however afraid of someone else finding her, as only a few people know of her situation, and since she is a character of status it terrifies him to think about what might occur if she’d be taken by the wrong people - She follows him to his court duties (if she wishes to, otherwise she's often at his desk napping, or with one of the working melusines) and whenever she's with him at a trial he is extremely mindful of her presence, being more careful with how he slams the cane down, as well when now not-shouting "order" - Wind is catching about how the former Archon has disappeared, and the highest and important figures (Wrio, Navia, Clorinde, Neuvillette, even Charlotte who has sworn not to say or write down anything about the situation Furina has found herself in) are not revealing anything and say that they are working hard to gather information about Furinas whereabouts

Borrower Kaveh living in Alhaithams house- Kaveh thinks the acting grand sage is none the wiser to his "tenants" existence. He's been here for the better of half a year and has - despite accidentally sneaking around when the human was present lounging around - not been seen. Most likely due to those heavy books the human often has his nose almost stuffed into - What he doesn't know is that Alhaitham is one step ahead. Kaveh often thinks he is the luckiest borrower around, always finding perfect scraps, non-stale food, and material that the human just has accidentally dropped, but Alhaitham is deliberate. He studies the borrower as he roams around the house, and will one day eventually want to interrogate the small man. But so far he has noticed he's harmless, and not some wicked experiment sent as a spy. Alhaitham even thinks the borrower is quite the gullible creature, as he somehow has not noticed his lingering gaze as he is quite the expressive character whenever he finds something new to "borrow". Alhaitham just wonders what he's doing with all those shards of glass, fabric and threads he finds... - Kaveh has absolutely decorated the place in the wall he has found himself residing in. It looks absolutely extravagant even with the scarce and broken things he has gathered - Eventually one day Alhaitham corners the small man when he’s out on his table - Kaveh is frozen in place as he hadn’t noticed the man sneaking up on him, and oh how he fears this man. From him overhearing through the walls and his observations of this man, he’s gotten the idea the man is cold. - To Kaveh that can only mean bad news, not all humans took kindly to their presence and Kaveh has nowhere to go - This Alhaitham had of course accounted for, he didn’t want this to be filled with complications, and needed the borrower to listen to him without having to take him away - He starts throwing questions right away, he’s noticing how the small man tries to hide his nerves behind a snarky facade - Alhaitham has made sure the Akasha terminal does not record the encounter with the tiny person (I haven’t finished the Sumeru AQ so my knowledge about the Akasha terminal is limited) - Kaveh is distressed at the fact he is stuck here until the human goes away, he doesn’t want to risk the man knowing where he usually hides away, although he is positively surprised by how seemingly respectful the encounter is, the questions sure are invasive but he’s not prodded, and there is a good distance between himself and the giant - Alhaitham does not reveal how obvious Kaveh is when out and about, and he wishes to berate him regarding going out at all when the silver haired man is home, he wants to see how long this obliviousness will continue - Kaveh is left dizzy from the encounter, he never expected himself be seen, much less by the man spending hours looking at his books - Their encounters become more frequent after that day, and Kaveh is starting to catch on finally how much the human has done for him when he thought he was oblivious to his existence

Giant Archons- Self explanatory, I adore the idea of the Archons having giant forms that they keep under radar - I mean considering different realms the Archons seemingly can enter (we have Euthymia, teapots, Venti's own disappearance as he healed himself, which sure some seem just like an inner state, but consider that they have created realms where they all can meet) they most definitely have some where they can let their true forms show - But maybe I have an idea about someone finding them, and being all afraid seeing the deities so enormously different - I once read an Eye of the Storm!Venti fic, and even that is fascinating. I can imagine their elemental powers being so overwhelming too when they are giant, not to the point it is suffocating for the mere mortal, but just the fact you can feel their powers surround you just by being in their presence - I had an idea where the reader stumbles upon a giant Barbatos and Morax, this was an idea I had before I had gone to Inazuma and before Sumeru was even out. It was also before I had listened to any of their voice lines about each other or read any like elaborate lore about the Archon war, etc. - Just a divine being being giant is a nice idea to me <3

Baizhu searches for the Geo Archon for his blessing, not realizing the giant he is about to meet(this one is so self-indulgent, but I have such a huge love for both Zhongli and Baizhu, and whether or not one ships them, their contrasting characteristics make me so intrigued - an immortal, and despite maybe not wishing entirely for mortality, still finds mortality and humanity interesting, and the ever benevolent mortal who seeks immortality, and will go drastic lengths to ensure his goal is met) - Rex Lapis in this AU is not deemed dead - Baizhu is of course as ever seeking immortality. One day he decides he will visit the plains forbidden within the Guyun stone forest, and seek out Rex Lapis as he is rumored to reside there - Guyun stone forest is a dangerous place, and he asks Changsheng and Qiqi to stay at the pharmacy with Gui as he traverses Liyue to seek the god - What he does not expect is a place in where he phases into another realm, this one adorned with enormous furniture, and ahead of him a throne fit only for the deity ruling over Liyue - He hides by one of the throne-chairs legs, out of sight for whoever will sit at it, and lo and behold, Rex Lapis himself soon seats himself - It is not he who finds Baizhu hiding, instead Xiao (also giant within this realm, as other Adepti and Yaksha are too) senses something off within the room as he attends to his duties - Because he senses something off he is best to be cautious about it possibly being a danger to the god he serves, or a spy sent to this realm - He quickly sends a weak - yet still overwhelming to any mortal - wave of Anemo as he spots a small figure by the throne, and sends them toppling over - Because of Baizhu’s long trek I imagine him with a cane, and as he is toppled the cane he was using to hold himself upright through all his nerves is thrown away from him, and he finds himself unable to stand up again - Xiao is quick on his feet and crouches menacingly over the mortal he now can see, demanding him to stand up and to explain himself - Baizhu can’t stand up and is left quivering on the ground, all he manages is to hold himself upright on his forearms and kneecaps, looking down on the ground as he swallows his nerves, of course fear coursed through him, he never expected this turn of events as he sought out Liyue’s Archon - Xiao notices this, and internally feels a sense of dread, it seems the mortal here has accidentally wandered into the realm he now is in, and he realizes he has rendered an ill mortal too to the ground - Rex Lapis of course wondered what just occurred for Xiao to be so wary and to step by his throne in all his haste, and as he glances down by where he is seated he notices the mortal now trembling on the ground, Xiao looking mortified - Morax realizes what is going on as he carefully summons small stone pillars that help the man up onto his feet again, and as he steps up from his throne Xiao teleports away - He ever so gently takes the cane that was lying by a large pot and places it on his fingertips, holding his palm flat just by the green haired man, so he can take it without too much of a fright (albeit he guesses this ordeal has already terrified him) - I have some ideas for how this will process further, I just think Baizhu tells Morax of his wishes and why he traveled all the way over to meet him - Later on, Rex Lapis is now holding the human who is seated on his palm, they meet Xiao again and the Yaksha bows deeply and apologizes for the things that happened - Baizhu can not blame him for being protective of the deity, and accepts the apology, he has an immense respect for the Adepti and feels almost flustered with this whole ordeal - Rex Lapis has Baizhu by for dinner!

(I will wanna elaborate on this as I’ve had this idea for ages! Since before Baizhu’s banner came out :’)))

Neuvillette and tiny/borrower Aether (I’m thinking Aether and Lumine have somehow lost each other in this AU too, hence Aether being the only one living here) - Aether hides away in the walls surrounding the court of Fontaine, particularly the walls surrounding Neuvillettes office - He finds the day in which it rains a blessing, as his steps are easily drowned out by the powerful drizzle that hits the window panes, even distracting the residing rodents and other animals that shared the walls with him - He also noticed that whenever it rained the office was usually empty for a long period of time and as the sun came out the office was usually occupied again by the man he feared meeting - He fetches water into a leather pouch from the teacup standing upon the desk and is quickly on his way off - Neuvillette has started to get used to the slightly leathery taste of his waters, and thinks nothing of it, it has never harmed him and the strong aftertaste of freshness still overpowered that tidbit - He looks upon his documents and notices a peculiar smudge in the ink, bringing it closer to his sights. The smudge is not just a bit of excessive ink, but instead dons the shape of a… shoe print almost, this he finds extremely peculiar - Some days later Aether is out again as the rain carried on outside, there were cookies placed upon the desk, usually it was some moist sweet or cupcake, but Aether didn’t think much of it, if he just stole a crumb no one would be none the wiser to his appearance here - He doesn’t notice the slitted violet eyes watching him from afar as he went by his borrowing routine - Until he hears a small shuffle, and Aethers heart is sent up and gets lodged in his throat - He turns around in haste, and there stands the tall man, eyes directly making contact with his own - Aether wants to run, but hugs the piece of the cookie closer as the man begins walking closer to his position. He soon stands so close he is towering over the desk and consequently the small borrower upon it, but Neuvillette is really none the wiser about the storm of emotions raging inside the small human (?) (TBC! I have a draft written out hehe :) )

Giant Sovereign Neuvillette meeting Zhongli who in comparison is tiny(Got this idea after Neuvillette’s voice lines about the Archons were revealed) - Morax/Zhongli finds himself in a sort of a dreamscape. He has barely any time to think of where he could be as the place all of a sudden shakes in a rhythmic fashion, he is to look around but is stopped - All of a sudden a giant object hurdles down beside him, knocking him off his feet - He catches himself from the fall, and before he can look up whatever just fell beside him he notices the giant shining shoes just behind the object, as his gaze travels up amongst the blues and golds and of the almost regal outfit that adorned the man standing beside him. Not just beside him, positively towering over him. The object that had thundered down, he now noticed, was a cane, held by the giant sovereign as he with a stern gaze surveyed the small usurper now lying by its tip - I know Neuvillette is technically not older than Zhongli in his reincarnated form, but I want to imagine he has regained his memories of his past lives, and sees Zhongli as eons younger than him, he therefore refers to him as “Young Morax” as they speak - He crouches over the deity, and Morax almost feels as if he is mocking him (This is sadly all I have for now regarding this, as I haven't thought about how to continue it, might also continue this in the future!)

[BLOG] hints of the existence of parasocial interaction and cancel culture in fontaine's trials

This is initially a thread I posted on twitter! I had a lot of thoughts regarding about how Fontaine showcases their interpretation of justice and I wanted to write my two cents about it ^^

WARNING: This post will include ARCHON QUEST SPOILERS for Fontaine's Archon Quest. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. (Don't blame me if you decided to press read more and get spoiled.)

Court trials are treated and are seen as entertainment or as an opera for the people in Fontaine and while they do let both sides prove their case whether to defend or to prosecute someone, the oratrice is influenced by how the audience reacts to each argument made.

Parasocial Interaction according to the internet, is a term coined by Horton and Wohl in 1956 to refer to a kind of psychological relationship experienced by members of an audience in their mediated encounters with certain performers in the mass media, particularly on television.

In our case, this is through the public case trials that are held inside of the Opera House and also written reports from the Steambird that are read by the general public.

In Travails, Dainsleif narrates that the God of Justice lives for the spectacle of the courtroom and in the Overture trailer, Furina is dissatisfied and is wanting to see a “real twist” to happen.

During the start of the Archon Quest, we get to hear how the citizens of Fontaine discuss court cases to the point that Paimon had mistaken that they were discussing a fictional play when in fact, they were discussing an actual court case that happened a few days ago.

In real life, whenever a court case involving a celebrity is publicized, it is common to see loyal fans of said celebrity to defend them without knowing the true person beneath their public persona and despite not knowing them personally.

At the mentioned interaction earlier, Paimon also questioned if it was really alright to treat cases like it was a form of public entertainment, in which the Fontaine citizen replied, “You could say that we just don't want to waste the moving stories behind those cases.” Which is also how the media would do everything to milk every single detail for a publicized court case, after all, the people do deserve to know what goes on in the courtroom, every single detail must be enticing and interesting enough for the audience to be engrossed in the issues at hand. 

I’m glad that we can also see and hear the audience’s reactions during court trials whenever we present an argument that would shift the public’s opinion on the case while the Oratrice is influenced by these opinions to make a verdict.

While trials in Fontaine aren’t supposed to reflect how a trial is held in real life, it was written in a way where the audience would feel connected and immersed in every detail that happens, keeping them on the edge of who would remain victorious and who would be defeated in the trial. I haven’t played the Ace Attorney series myself but I do see some pointing out that the trials are written akin to an Ace Attorney game. 

When we play through Lyney’s trial, Furina reveals that the twins were members of the Fatui, which led to the audience coming to their own conclusion that they were indeed the perpetrators of the crime based on the notation that the Fatui are the bad guys. The more evidence that Furina presents to the audience to prosecute the twins, they believed her and agreed with her points. But whenever we present a more convincing argument, the crowd will instantly agree with us right away. Because there is no jury in Fontaine’s court trials, you can even say that the citizens of Fontaine are the jury as their opinions, belief in justice and feelings would influence the final verdict. 

There are people who question if this kind of system is right and just, like the twins who wanted to investigate how the Oratrice worked and how it could deliver verdicts accurately, and Navia, who dislikes how the system worked after her father was falsely accused of a murder. Now that we are on the topic of Navia, I think Act II of the Archon Quest does indeed highlight the flaw of Fontaine’s justice system and that is, obviously, their treatment of each trial as an opera. 

Because Fontaine’s justice system is so sensationalized by the public and many treat the people involved in cases as characters, Navia’s father, Callas was once loved by the public but after he was accused of murder, many turn their backs on him and she comments that people like to watch the evil turn into new leaf, while also enjoying good people fall into the abyss from one slip up.

Just as we enjoy our fictional characters to go through redemption or corruption arcs in stories. Because one bad thing was accused of the person, many forget that the person is still human. This can also apply to how internet culture works nowadays and the rise of cancel culture. 

So, how does this affect the Archon Quest? I think that with the first two acts, they’ve done a great job at establishing that one of the main focuses in Fontaine’s society as a whole is how they view justice will be one of the turning points of the chapter. The people’s reliance and trust on the Oratrice’s power reminded me of previous nations like the Akasha system for Sumeru and Rex Lapis’ yearly instructions for the people of Liyue. 

I’m not the first person to point out that Fontaine is indeed just social media recreated in Genshin but it is interesting how they decided to utilize these themes into their writing. This has become rambling but I don’t really care. I'm so glad that the Genshin writing team has stepped up on their game and I am satisfied with how the first two acts of Fontaine were! There were some flaws but it was worth the 3 year wait.

       Navia was no stranger to her father's soirees; social occasions with all the opulence and splendour of those staged at the fabled Court of Fontaine, or so she had been led to believe, but set amidst the backdrop of the Fontainian countryside instead of the tall, scaling walls of the inner city. Where merchants and Spina agents and ordinary citizens of Fontaine mingled with the high and mighty — whoever Callas had set his eyes on in his relentless pursuit of influence and sway in his country's affairs. It would have been a lie to say that Navia did not enjoy wandering from room to room of whatever country estate her father had co-opted this time, dressed in Chiori's latest couture gown, drawing every single gaze to Callas's daughter and presumed successor of the Spina di Rosula. But where her father would rather have her by his side as he schmoozed the latest Maison Gardiennage official, Navia preferred to add a little fun to proceedings.

       And fun this evening meant not following along with her father's wishes. Instead, she'd scanned the crowd, and her eyes had fallen upon the most curious individual in attendance tonight. All it took was confirmation from Melus and Silver of the man's identity and Navia was already making a beeline towards him, looking for her opening.

       “ Your Grace. ” She caught his gaze and smiled; now he had no choice but to converse with her. “ I hear your visits to the surface are a rare thing. You must hold my father in high esteem indeed to come all this way. ” Navia had not personally heard of the Spina doing business with the Fortress of Meropide, but the Duke was a man of influence. It wasn't particularly surprising. Though it occurred to her a moment later that, spending so much time below the surface as Wriothesley did, an introduction would be necessary. “ I'm Callas's daughter, Navia. ”

"Hi, everyone! Lucoa here again. We've now finalized our roster and so are the guidelines for the first round. Just a reminder: this might be a lot to take in.

First and more importantly, here's the lineup for the first round.

As you can see, given that we have 12 participating entries, we'll have 6 matches to start. And as for the names, they are arranged by fighter + assist format. If anyone within their team would like to switch roles, you may reply here so that we'll know before we start the tournament.

In addition to that, if any of the participants break the rules 3 times within the match, they will be removed from the tournament automatically and will not be able to participate anymore especially in the losers bracket. To our fighters and assists, make sure to remember that. As for our hosts, keep on your watch.

And another important thing: How do we determine the winner in each match? With the use of polls, here's how we will do it:

Each match will run in two days. The first day will be the pre-poll period wherein our participants shall be given a chance to have their fight thread posted before the voting starts.

The next day will be the voting period. During this period, our participants who don't have fight threads yet will still be given the chance to post them.

If a fight thread is not posted within the duration of the match, we will solely base on the poll results.

If, by any chance, the outcome of the fight thread contradicts the poll results, our deciding factor will depend on the difference of the number of votes.

For example, Team A has 3 more votes than Team B but Team B won in the fight thread, we shall declare Team B as the winner.

However, if Team A has 5 (or higher) more votes than Team B, then Team A will be the winner.

Also, if the fight thread hasn't concluded its outcome yet within the duration of the match, we will base the result from the poll as well.

Fontaine Act 5 spoilers

I'm not that far in but I'm making a thread to post my thoughts. Spoilers after cut

ough. ough i am almost crying and i am 30 minutes in. Navia navia please don't cry. Neuvillete is crying (it's raining). grief. anguish even. we are 30 minutes into this act.

Unrelated thought that made me stop crying. Why is the gravestone a cross. Is jesus in genshin impact. is there a secular reason for a cross shaped grave

Why does it have to be so pretty when it rains. Monsieur Neuvillete please don't cry but also please do this is so pretty and foggy

Next point, a prediction. I feel fairly confident saying that Furina and Focalors are to an extent, separate identities/perhaps entities and have since like, before 4.2 came out since many others were suggesting it, however I think that fact is also reflected in her design. For instance, have you noticed that when the name Focalors is used, often times only Furina's light blue eye is visible? It happened once at the beginning of Act 3, but i was unable to screen shot it. It was during the scene in which she begs Neuvillete to attend the meeting with her, and the scene ends in this pose. When she describes herself as Focalors, the camera cuts off half her face, leaving only the light blue eye.

It also happens during the discussion with The Knave in act 4.

You may state in this case, its just her hair covering her eye and isn't deliberate. However we very easily could have looked over the other shoulder, and why is Furina's dark blue eye covered? I believe it represents her humanity. She constantly attempts to portray herself as a capable, completely disconnect and above her people. A celebrity, a judge. A god. She tries to hide what I call her "shy little girl voice", which I think is closer to her real personality, with her bravado being mostly an act she puts on to protect herself from harm and scrutiny. Because you can question a mortal leader, but you can't challenge the wisdom of a god. More thoughts on the archon quest will be attached through reblog because this post is getting long. Please keep an eye out of that!

Some tidbits that are incredibly important for my portrayal of Yelan: (I will be adding to this list over-time and editing these! Last edited: June 3rd, 2024)

Attitude. Yelan is from the nation heavily inspired by China, a country that is very firmly rooted within specific customs tied to social etiquette, which all seem to emphasize a deep sense of respect and modesty. I take this a lot to heart with Yelan, who is shown in the game to function incredibly well within the bounds of diplomacy, alongside a rather playful demeanor. She harbors, as expected, a deep-rooted sense of respect for her elders as shown towards Uncle Tian, Xiao, and when she speaks of her ancestors; she seems rather 'reserved' and polite in her initial social approach, and these traits seem to stretch out across her general interactions, until a playful nature becomes more evident among those she's closer to. In league with this, Yelan is not overtly confrontational, nor will she be rude, even around targets surrounding her profession, whether big or small, she will never be rude nor condescending. In case you skimmed past it in the above links, I would suggest giving this a read, until I write up something more thoroughly.

Her ownership of Yanshang, and people's knowledge of said fact. For the love of all that is (un)holy, the takeover of Yanshang Teahouse after Tartaglia delivers its former owner into the hands of Liyue's authorities is not something that is common knowledge whatsoever. This may likely even stretch to even members of the Qixing outside of Ningguang and Uncle Tian (the Yuheng may be another), as the less people know, the better it may serve even the Tianquan herself. In essence, unless we've spoken about it directly, do not have your muse be aware of details that they have no way of knowing.

Shipping. I don’t see Yelan as someone who is particularly made for traditional romantic relationships in any cases outside of primarily one. I feel this way because of her line of work (and her likely inevitable fate), but more importantly so, the reason that draws her to take on the work that she does. After the loss of her team, she told Ningguang the following: “We both made a mistake: We shouldn’t have involved ordinary folk in what we do.” This shows that Yelan shoulders a burden that she believes others couldn’t and/or should never bear because of the fate that is tied to it. For Yelan, this speaks of such an inherent loneliness that she has chosen in her life and is okay with, which is presumably because it’s deeply-rooted in her due to the fate of her team, and the influence of her ancestors. But this decision makes her rather incompatible with most individuals, for she will, honestly, never give up what she does while she lives, and on top of that, rather refuses to involve anyone else in her business with and within the Chasm as a whole. In my opinion, this leaves the only people (for romantic long-term investments), ones who have or know a similar life to her. Someone who understands active willed sacrifice and the sense of isolation that comes along with that. It’s not filling loneliness with someone else, it’s finding the same loneliness in another by total and utter happenstance, for they understand this incomprehensible thing that many simply never will. (With that in mind, my default verse will inevitably work towards a ship with delusionaid’s Wriothesley. This is exclusive to her portrayal of him and will not be written with any other.)  

Physical Encounters. Based on how exemplary care she takes of herself physically, denying herself of simple pleasures such as sweets (usually) because they can too easily create an addiction and ‘disrupt focus’, I continue this across the board. The human body has its inevitable cravings, and so I do believe she indulges in physical encounters to relieve herself of this. I do not see these as ships, and they take place before and in the early phases of her slow-forming relationship with Wriothesley. Some examples of contenders for this? Kaeya, Beidou— and no, Ningguang is and would never be included in this lineup.
