I think it’s very important to say that Vox’s portrayal boils down to the tropes “Good is Not Nice” and “Cruel to Be Kind”, with a lot of “Took a Level In Kindness” if he ever finds happiness / goes through a redemption arc. I primarily chose these tropes as they make Vox just as morally gray as Alastor, yet keeps the FOIL aspect of the two at the same time. Vox is not perfect, of course — but I also think he’s so much more than what the show gives us. He’s unhappy with his life even when in control of so much. He’s not satisfied, whether that be because of others or himself. Ultimately, I don’t want my portrayal being seen as truly evil or innocent. I don’t want him seen on the same level as Valentino [ because you can’t come back from the shit Valentino has done, it’s inexcusable]. But I still think Vox would have a chance at being better if someone GAVE him that chance. He has a heart, welded shut and closed until someone pries it open.

just for clarification purposes because I've had people ask A LOT these past few days ( more below the cut, cw for gender talk and such )

Vox is a transgender man. He has only medically transitioned through HRT ( hormone replacement therapy ), but NOT surgery. This means he still has AFAB parts. As someone who is agender and also AFAB, I refer to Vox's genitalia with feminine terms just like I do for my own body. Each person's journey with their gender is different ; while I am comfortable enough in my own body to use fem. terms for such parts ( unless requested otherwise ), it's extremely harmful to me and other non-cis people to put us into one box. There is no one right way to be trans. Therefore . . . if this makes you uncomfortable, I request you either softblock me or ask me to tag topics around gender discussion. Everyone has the right to their own comfort and safety — and I don't want people to police my gender around or any of my muses.

But . . . if this makes you uncomfy because you don't believe in trans identities?

It's okay if this is a copypasta - I just appreciate people thinking of me in the first place! To be quite honest . . . This was originally confined to the TV's nightly sleep routine . . . before it eventually spread to playing in the elevators and hallways of the V Tower. No one dared to comment on the sudden change — besides Valentino and Velvette of course : their complaints were quickly met with feigned ignorance and Vox scurrying away from the angered duo.

It was during one of his sleepless nights, toiling through contracts and emails, where the overlord absentmindedly powered on an old-timey radio to fill the silence [ this was becoming a dangerous habit, Vox ]. Immediately, it connected to his station / and those oh—so familiar waves washed over him like a comforting embrace.
