You make the coolest gif sets fr. I saw your Miss Marple/Poirot one forever ago so I'm glad I finally found you again so I could give you a follow. ā¤ļø
Aww, thank you very much for the sweet words and the follow! And I'm glad you've found your way back. :)
More Poirot/Marple (Marplot) crossovers are on the way, also featuring other detectives! I'm happy you've enjoyed them, they're some of my fave gif sets to make, especially the whole process of matching different scenes from the Poirot and Marple tv shows to make it look like they came from the same scene. :) Like with my other more time-consuming gif sets, I put all the ideas and matching screencaps in a special folder and eventually there are enough sweet little scenes/moments to fit a gif set! And I add context to the filenames themselves so I don't forget months later what the idea was, like "Poirot looks at Marple who is sitting down.jpg", which is especially important if you want their eyelines to match (they're both looking in the right direction and/or into each other's eyes, depending on the scene).
They're a great detective duo! I adore the idea of Poirot trying to make Miss Marple laugh (she is very giggly on the show <3) or listening with rapt attention to her "something like this has happened years ago in St Mary Mead" parallels that tie back to their current case and are always on point. Poirot LOVES the way she thinks, she is a treasure of knowledge, a great judge of character and fellow observer of people; all traits she shares with Poirot.
The most recent one I've made was with Geraldine McEwan's version of Marple, after several past crossovers with Julia McKenzie's here and here, and this even older one from 2019, and an ancient one with them on the beach from 2016.
Is the first one linked (from 2022) the one you saw? :) It's my Pinned post and tumblr flagged it with the 'Content Label' for no reason and even though I've put it under review weeks ago, it's still flagged, I doubt tumblr has had the chance to look at it and unflag it. The same thing is happening to countless gif makers and creators, on perfectly innocent gif sets, but tumblr doesn't have enough staff to take care of the problem. In my case it's literally THE gif set that best represents my tumblr and the algorithm wants to hide it. It took me years to come up with all the moments for the particular crossover. Hopefully the Content Label matter will be resolved soon as I'm planning more crossovers and don't want them hidden after months or years of trying to manifest them!
Luckily, tumblr didn't flag my newest fanmade detective crossover with Columbo and Murder, She Wrote! It was such a delight to make! Columbo and Jessica Fletcher being badass crime-solving besties is right up my alley and it goes hand in hand with the concept of Marplot. I don't know what the portmanteau would be for them, though. Any ideas? :) Name-meshing can be tricky, I came up with "Marplot" years ago because I needed a name for tagging purposes and the nickname rolled off the tongue nicely. ColumboSheWrote? Columbofletcher? Columfletcher? Fletchumbo? I like Fletchumbo coz it's kind of silly yet FUN. :D
Thank you again for your lovely ask! I've followed you back! <3

Kenneth Branagh is teasing the return of "old friends" in his planned sequel to Murder on the Orient Express. Branagh says heās excited to gather an ensemble cast that could possibly include bringing back some "old friends" to explore "primal human emotions" like "obsessive love and jealousy and sex" that make for a "very dangerous atmosphere." Branagh says he was glad to see audiences responding to his quirky portrayal of Poirot and looks forward to seeing how that will evolve in the sequel. "One of the things that I liked - really loved doing here that the audience responded to was that Hercule Poirot, for all his intellectual power, got dragged into it, got dragged into feeling it. And I think it's a hell of a trip, that trip down the Nile. So I think it would be great to see how he, how his heart, responds to that kind of intensity," he said. With a wealth of source material to draw from, Branagh also endorses the idea of a Poirot-slash-Christie ācinematic universeā ā the popular term for a series of interlocking films that bring various characters together. "I think there are possibilities, aren't there? With 66 books and short stories and plays, she ā and she often brings people together in her own books actually, so innately - she enjoyed that. You feel as though there is a world ā just like with Dickens, there's a complete world that sheās created ā certain kinds of characters who live in her world ā that I think has real possibilities." However, Branagh says he hasn't exactly floated that idea with any of the brass at 20th Century Fox. "I bet theyāve been thinking about it though," he says. Christie has many literary creations that could feasibly appear in further movie adaptations. The most well known is the elderly Miss Marple, who has been played by actresses such as Margaret Rutherford and Angela Lansbury. But there are also many others like Tommy and Tuppence or Parker Pyne, that appear in shorter stories. So with Poirot re-introduced to the general public and Death on the Nile coming up, thereās no reason that one of those lesser-known sleuths couldnāt play a part in that film or any future follow-ups. Murder on the Orient Express will be released on home video in the coming months. Death on the Nile is in the early stages of pre-production. - Dec 27 2017 [x] [x]

With Death on the Nile on the way, do you think that theyāll also hint at another Poirot mystery at the end? Or maybe even something unexpected to the ACCU (Agatha Christie Cinematic Universe)?
Hey there! That's an interesting question! I think a new tease at the end of the movie is entirely possible. It would have to be a pretty strong hint as to what Christie mystery the studio wants to tackle next, otherwise the general audience might not catch it.Ā
The moment in Murder on the Orient Express when an officer comes to fetch Poirot because thereās been a murder on the Nile, was perfect. Even someone with vague knowledge of Christie would recognize the title Death on the Nile from pop culture. The screenwriter couldnāt have gotten the message across any clearer.
If at the end of the DOTN movie Poirot said he's tired of cases and wants to move to the countryside to grow vegetable marrows, would the general audience understand it's a reference to The Murder of Roger Ackroyd? Instead they might think Poirot is telling them he wonāt be solving cases anymore, therefore there will be no sequel.
This is all hypothetically speaking, of course, we donāt know if weāre getting a third movie or what it would be. I donāt think theyād have to be as obvious as to drop the actual name āRoger Ackroydā, but maybe obvious is the way to go. Itās worked well so far. Poirot could go, āNon non non, I canāt extend my stay in Egypt. Iām heading back toĀ King's Abbot. My friend Mr. Ackroyd is expecting me.ā Which would also signal to us Poirot is already living in the countryside.
Or, āIāve grown tired of growing vegetable marrows. The countryside, it is not for me. My friend Mr. Ackroyd has been helping me find the perfect flat in London.ā Again, letting us know Poirotās about to move but maybe thereās gonna be another murder and he wonāt be able to leave the countryside behind just yet. As long as the line of dialogue doesnāt sound too forced, I think it would be fine. And even if it does sound a little forced, itās still fun for the audience to catch the reference.
Maybe Bouc suggests another vacation, a āreal oneā this time, and invites Poirot to Paris, only for Poirot to shudder and tell him heās not a fan of flights, but Bouc insists. āAt least no one would get murdered on a plane!ā he teases. Death in the Clouds.
Bouc takes pity on his friend and invites Poirot to a secluded hotel in Devon, away from murder and tragedy and death because Poirot is tired of all the āEvil under the Sun.ā
They get called to an archaeological dig in Iraq. Poirot is hesitant but Bouc laughs thereās no way theyāll get caught up in another murder. āCome on, itās going to be a charming Mesopotamian trip!ā Murder in Mesopotamia.
As theyāre about to join a group of tourists on a trip to the famous city of Petra in Jordan, Poirot has a strange premonition and tells Bouc he feels like theyāre having an āAppointment with Death.ā
Poirot is on the way home, leaning against the railing of the steamer as he reads some letters that have been forwarded to him from his London address. The camera zooms in on the letter that is signed with āA.B.C.ā The ABC Murders. You get the picture. :)
Regarding your question about the Agatha Christie Cinematic Universe: they could name drop Miss Marple or even have her cast as one of the passengers on Poirotās trip home, for one scene. Theyāre sitting on the deck and a sweet old lady with shrewd eyes chats him up and introduces herself as Jane Marple. Itās her first trip to Egypt (āA gift from my nephew Raymond, you know? How kind of him to arrange it for me!ā) and sheās had a marvellous time, but sheās disappointed sheās missed all the fun. āIāve heard thereās been a murder on the Nile! We have a lot of those in St. Mary Mead!ā she tells Poirot excitedly. Heās in for a long story.
Or somewhere in DOTN or the third film, Poirot could say the phrase āmurder at a vicarageā, making fans wonder if he has just teased a future Miss Marple movie or that he knows Miss Marple. Teasing the existence of Marple in Poirotās universe would be easy, I think. Any lines about old ladies solving crimes would do it, same with characters dropping words and phrases taken from Marpleās book titles, like āIām checking into Bertramās Hotel!ā,Ā āHow about a relaxing Caribbean voyage to get your mind off murder?ā, āI took the 4:50 from Paddington but still missed the appointment.ā Poirot reading a Raymond West book may be too vague of a hint for the general audience but Christie fans would recognize the author as the famous nephew of Miss Marple.Ā
I think almost anything is possible. It all depends on what the Agatha Christie Estate would and would not allow. Iām sure theyāve had discussions about longterm plans for these franchises, and went through potential actors and actresses for the roles, even if the projects are still years away. Maybe it was Ken who suggested overlapping universes, maybe it was someone else - from what weāve heard in the media, heās interested.
A cinematic Poirot/Marple crossover is one of my greatest fan wishes. They could also do a joint skit for a charity event as a way of introducing the new Marple actress to the viewers, or have Ken do a cameo in a new Marple tv series or movie. Come on, please give us some Marplot! (Which reminds me, I gotta do some more Marplot gif sets. Itās been so hot these days that sitting on the comp and giffing has been difficult, I have to wait until late in the evening to do it, and by then a lot of my energy is gone. But I gotta persevere instead of perspirate! :D)
Thank you for your ask, it was fun and gave me much to think about!

I just read your headcanons about Sherlock/Poirot/Marple knowing each other, working together etc and I love it!!! I had never thought about it but it would be so much fun (even if something could bring at least the two of them together, I would love it)! So fingers crossed someone will someday make something!
Hello and thank you so much! Iām happy you like my headcanons! Marpoilock has amazing potential to be the ultimate master sleuth crossover. There really is no other detective trio or group that could match it. Itās why I call it the āTrifectaā.
In my headcanon Columbo makes guest appearances, heās Marpoilockās āAmerican colleague.ā I call the Sherlock/Columbo crossover āSherlumboā and have made a gif set of Sherlock, Columbo and Poirot together a year ago when my blog was still new. One of my earliest ideas of characters visiting each other.Columbo is right at the end.
Since then the main priority has been giffing Poirot, to establish my blog a bit more and because his is the smallest fandom and he needs the most attention in terms of gifs, but a year later I really wanted to start posting more crossovers again, yes, hence the Granada Holmes/Poirot set in the making. Hope youāll like it! I get a kick out of the image of Holmes and Poirot roaming the countryside together on the look for clues, grumbling and complaining because they both hate the fresh country air and miss London terribly. :D
Originally, my blogās main subject were supposed to be detective crossovers. I did several before I opened poirott, and then queued them. A Marpoilock manip has been my side banner in my tumblr theme from Day 1. Doesnāt show up on mobile, of course, but you can see it if accessed from the computer. Gosh, Iāve learnt a lot about graphics since then but I still love the manip and donāt have the heart to change it.
If you like the idea of detective crossovers and donāt mind some of the coloring on my old gifs (and the old gif size/format), my earliest Poilock crossovers are here and there, and Marplot here. I also made these and these Marpoilock graphics and this big master sleuth post. Apologies if my reply sounds like Iām advertizing my own posts, itās just to show examples of whatās already been covered on the blog in terms of crossovers. :)
Iām with you and am keeping fingers crossed we get an official crossover one day! Thanks! <3<3
