apparently there’s leida hate which is kind of baffling to me bc every scene with her and mon is so obviously leida looking for a mother in mon and mon looking for herself in leida. the scene where leida tells mon “i wish you were drunk” did such a good job of showing the breaking point of their relationship my heart broke for them both because it’s like they’re having two separate conversations until leida finally realizes mon is never going to be the mother figure she needs & mon finally realizes she’s too late in saving leida (and her younger self)

I wish Kleya and Jyn had a chance to meet. They share so many similarities and thier stories have some common features. They were both raised more as a weapon than a child by a leader of some part of rebellion. They both lost thier bio family. They both chose rebellion and providing crucial information over tiny (and honestly unrealistic) chances of saving thier fathers

New (to me) Andor theory:
Syril uncovering that ring of corrupt Imperial officers embezzling funds was orchestrated by Dedra without his knowledge. Not just to advance his career, but because he needed to track down a conspiracy for Enrichment.

Decided to rewatch Secret Cargo after catching up on Andor s2, given we seem to be building up to this scene & this speech, and this line really stood out to me. Hope they manage to work it in somehow cos it's a neat parallel to s1.

Just thinking of Krennic and Partagaz talking about Ronan and Dedra, their high achieving favourites who rose from nothing. Krennic makes a big show of how he can drink anyone under the table if he wants to. Partagaz lies that he only drinks on special occasions and will do his best to keep up. After the same amount of drinks, Krennic is nicely drunk and Partagaz is practically sober.
They both think they have the upper hand over the other. They both agree The Empire is best served by people from their kind of background, and that they have a duty to elevate others to at least their level.
He may have a rich aristocratic accent and a supremely self-confident bearing, but Partagaz is from the same lower levels that Krennic and Dedra and Ronan and a handful of other high ranking Imperials clawed their way up from.

Andor s2 ep1 thoughts (no spoilers for other two episodes plz)
• Cassian’s little monologue about overcoming fear to the fellow rebel was such an amazing choice to start this season. I suspect that this will be the central thesis of this season, that you rise above your fear when you meet yourself by no longer allowing evil to grow
• Similarly, ep1’s focus on Cassian being captured by other rebels, who both bc their own discohesion and the discohesion of the rebellion in general interfere with his mission and lose themselves to their own squabbles. This is a snapshot of the exact issues the larger Rebellion is undergoing at this time
• You have no idea how glad I am that Cassian found the others from Ferrix and lives with them when he’s not off rebelling.
• Finally some fucking explanation of the fucking Ghormans. They were name dropped throughout s1 as a planet Mon Mothma was trying to protect from unfair legislation, but we never got an explanation. Now we know it’s about wanting to mine the planet into extinction.
• I feel bad for poor Leida.
• Luthen was not subtle about asking where that Naval guy was being moved to but I think that’s just the persona he has created.
• Kleya is a bitch and I love her. The “two single women” comment seemed like a jab especially with how Vel reacted. Her and Cinta seemed to be going separate directions in s1, are they broken up or is Cinta dead?
• I need to figure out how this fits in with Rebels timeline wise. Mon Mothma still being a public figure and the ununified nature of the rebellion is confusing me at 4 BBY

I'm 35, it's been 10 years since Mianite Season 2, and I still haven't had my Andor arc. I'm still on "friendly" terms with my bigoted religious dad. I still haven't given my speech under the arch. I haven't been tied up, shipped off to jail, and had my wings clipped. I haven't escaped my cell, healed my wounds to scars, and wandered the wild in search of the goddess I pray to. Stories speak truth. This story speaks mine, but I still haven't lived it. The Unforgiven Ocean will be a great novel that tells Andor's tale more fully than S2 did, but I'm not ready to write it yet.
