thinking about red vs blue is crazy because it's like:

this is a story about how you can't keep chasing ghosts forever. there's alien/human mpreg.

holding onto the past is holding you back - you have to learn to let go and say goodbye. ed robertson from the barenaked ladies plays a guy who (jokingly?) tells his soldiers that if he weren't their CO he'd make them call him daddy.

family isn't always defined by appearances and you may find it in those you least expect. the aliens speak entirely in blargs and honks.

everything we do is driven by love - love for your current companions and loves that have been lost along the way. it has one of the most intense and longest running queer-baits i've ever personally witnessed.

veterans aren't given the proper support to be able to return to a civilian life, and this systemic issue causes problems for everyone in all levels of society. there's a homophobic bomb.

you can't change what's happened to you and the ones you love; you just have to find a way to keep moving forward. one of the main characters only speaks in poorly translated spanish.

everyone has the capacity to change and be better. it has two (completely unrelated) insanely complicated time travel plots, and they’re both only dubiously canon.

it's an incredible piece of media and proof that you can create something magical with the limited tools available to you. there are chunks of it that are borderline unwatchable.

it's changed the way I approach storytelling forever. i can't easily recommend it to pretty much anyone.

FIRST here are some better examples of the way the stage is set up because i truly think its so creative/cool:

PLUS a recording of natasha and bolkonskys to kind of show how they utilize this set up (watching the whole thing isnt really necessary, its just a good example of some ways they use the audience!!)

unrelated to the stage thing but here is the music video for in my house (+ specific lyrics from it), which i feel has some cool examples of the way they adapted certain lines into the musical/the way they quote the book? its hard to put into words but the way certain characters will narrate the actions of others has ALWAYS stood out to be as being very neat, its a direct reminder of what the musical is adapting.

if i had a partner i would wake them up right now and i would say babe wake up im thinking about the plants that went extinct in the kt boundary comet blast again. babe the world has ended 1 million times and i want to grieve for every single one of them and its really messed up except for immediately after the kt extinction event when the ferns had so much sex they left an observable stripe of spore-dense matter fossilized in the rock forever, like that part was kinda funny. i think i have a stmoach ulcer again btw

i think that the absolute highest praise i can give episodes 7-9 of andor season 2 without really spoiling them is that i genuinely cannot believe that disney let them do this. i cannot believe that disney let them film it in the first place, much less release it.

i just did a huge graduate level research project and presentation about the history of hollywood’s role in the assertion of american power and dominance (particularly post 9/11) and i talked about disney more than any other single studio. stretching all the way from world war 2 to now, i talked about disney’s continued role in preserving the american regime and it’s interests.

i cannot believe that disney let this slide. that’s how poignant it was.
