hospital?! awww I’m so sorry you were in the hospital! but I’m happy my fic was able to make the stay a little more bearable! Idk if you’ve caught up? but if you did I should have more for you to read soon!! (Ngl when you said you were getting free goldfish I thought the swimming fish for a second & was like whyyyyy??? Now I realize you probably mean the cracker lol)

Huzzah!

Gloating time. Patting myself on the fucking back time! This chapter was killing me for months and months on end! I kept getting waylain and had to edit stuff in previous chapters partly for important reasons and partly for procrastination because I didn’t want to deal with... I don’t even know what chapter number this was originally anymore. Was it 23? 22? I don’t know. It’s chapter 24 now. That’s for certain.

It’s been dragging. I check my revision history because I’m curious like that. I can see where I had large gaps of not wanting to touch this chapter with a 10 foot pole and then there was the beginning of Jan when I was kinda poking it but more like it was a venemous jellyfish I had to be wary of. 

I properly got stuck into it 30th Jan and it has taken me 10 days to slay this beast. But it’s only half slain really because half of the content that was in the original version of this chapter has now become its own new shiny hell chapter. Ch 24 is 22.5k long. I don’t even know why it’s so long. I read through it. Like... I swear to god there wasn’t evenm that much going on! It ended up coming out like 5k longer than the original version and it’s got half the content cut out as that’s going into ch 25. I am very proud of myself though. I almost forgot what hellscape it is to write new content. I’ve been editing this fic for so long now - mind you... editing still lands me with new scenes but... I think what made this so much worse was because it was basically writing a whole new chapter and not just inserting scenes between chunks of text. Anyway. I FINISHED IT! I even did a second pass and polished it, which bumped it up by a couple of K words. I’ll probably bump it again when it comes closer to actually posting this chapter. And here I was wondering if I’d ever make it to 300k. I’m laughing hysterically. I should never doubt my skill in verbosity. 

And here, have a random bit of a dialogue snippet. I had to cut the original version of this conversation, but managed to salvage it and insert it into this spot instead. It’s not as great as it was in the original, but it retains the spirit of it!

Anyway... now I’m just waiting to get this chapter beta’d so it can hopefully help inform my very important POV dilemma of ch 25. It probably still won’t bring me answers. I think I just have to write the fucking thing in Zack’s POV to see if it is ok. It’s almost inevitable at this stage. But... gosh... one can hope I can just keep what I had originally written and make minor modifications to it. May the writing gods give me strength. I’m hoping to smash ch 25 and 26 out before beginning of March. I have other writing projects that are banging on the door. Loudest of all my AkuRoku Big Bang piece. Well wishes very welcome 😆
