His anger at the pay has made him enwaged.
___
JOKE-OGRAPHY: 1. In the Bible story, Jesus tells a story about a landowner who hires workers throughout the day to work in his vineyard.  Some workers are found and hired right at dawn.  Other workers are hired throughout the day.  The landowner even goes out just an hour before closing and finds a few more unemployed workers, so he hires them, too.  At the end of the day, he pays every worker a full day's wage, regardless of hours.  This is what he owes the first workers, but it's incredibly generous to the last, who only worked an hour.  The first workers complain that they deserve more than the later workers.  The landowner explains that he paid them what they were owed.  Why should they complain if he was generous to others?  Jesus says the landowner is like the kingdom of heaven.  No matter when we reach out to God -- early or late -- He reaches back all the way. 2. In this cartoon, an early worker is complaining on and on about the perceived unfairness of the landowner's selective generosity.  As the early worker lists all the work he did, the landowner adds, "And making plenty of WHINE, apparently."  The worker is complaining a lot -- or "whining" -- about tending a vineyard, where grapes are harvested, in part for wine-making.    "Wine" and "whine" are homophones.  For this reason, the landowner says he must have been making plenty of WHINE.

The dog sniffed round for an instant, and then with a shrill whine of excitement started off down the street, tugging at his leash in his efforts to go faster. In half an hour we were clear of the town and hastening down a country road.

Whine
Tumblr media
Peter began to say to Jesus, “We have given up everything and followed you.”
It’s a classic Peter whine. One that you just know is going to be followed with complaint plus guilt trip.
Peter chose to follow Jesus. He may not have realized it at the time, but it’s a choice with some weight to it.
What’s behind this Peter whine? The impact of that choice is finally hitting home for Peter.
What gives this Peter whine weight beyond just your basic complaint is this fundamental truth. As G.K. Chesterton puts it,
“When you choose anything, you reject everything else. …when you take one course of action you give up all the other courses.”
Peter gets it.
By choosing one course of action (following Jesus), he has given up on all the other courses of action (everything that’s not compatible with following Jesus).
But Peter doesn’t want to get it.
He wants to be able to choose that course of action (following Jesus), without giving up on all the other courses of action (everything that’s not compatible with following Jesus).
Sounds familiar.
Which is what the Peter whine is all about.
And it’s why Jesus shows Peter the big picture of his choice. That choosing to follow Jesus doesn’t just mean that he’s closed the door to all the courses of action that are not compatible with following Jesus.
By choosing to follow Jesus, Peter has opened the door to all the courses of action that are compatible with following Jesus.
And he’s also opened the door to all the courses of action that are only possible by following Jesus.
And, in comparison? There’s no comparison.
Which is the call of today’s Gospel. To hear ourselves in the Peter whine.
To make room in our own lives for all the courses of action that are only possible by following Jesus.
And to recognize that in comparison, there’s no comparison.

Now no worries! I'm obviously still drawing my favorite characters of the many fandoms that I love, but I just thought it would be nice to show you guys my characters too ^^ I'll upload about them like every now and then ♡ (Feel free to ask me anything about them too!)
(ABHL in my tags means "A Bright Hell Life" which is the name of my story :D)

the urge to run to my friends every five minutes to show off what i just wrote so we can be excited together vs the nebulous feeling that they're all just humoring me
yeah so the nebulous feeling is really winning this one tbh. it's made writing such a chore sometimes i don't open a single file for two weeks.
it doesn't help when people go "no but i do want to see what you're writing!!" because that is also what they would say if they were humoring me. :(

I have to go pick someone up the airport, so that's an hour round trip, and I don't wannaaaaaaa. But at least I'll be done/in for the night when I get back. Deeply hoping that my bthb card is here when I get back so I can stop my anxiety brain telling me I did something wrong on the sign-up (even tho I double-checked so many times?) (but ALSO: did I mess something up). (It's more than reasonable if it's not tho, given the time-frame, this is literally just me wanting to silence le anxiety brain lmao)
I'm so glad it's Wednesday (altho I am aware that gives me two (2) more days until my self-imposed deadline lmao)
