A few little sketches of some possible school uniforms for mage schools/learning centers for magic/etc. :0c Though because Nanyevimi is so scattered and disconnected, it'd actually vary much more by region (like not everywhere would have a cultural concept of what a suit jacket or neck tie looks like lol), so it's probably unrealistic for so many of them to follow too many traditional Uniform Conventions from cultures in our world, etc. But, still, fun to mess around with designs, and think about which would be most fun to wear/what school you'd go to just based off the clothing lol~
#I haven't felt well enough to do anything actually productive lately GRRRR.. evil health issues....#but I can sometimes at least draw while I lay on the floor with a heating pad and etc. lol.. so...#goofy little sketches. Still dislike that the ipad thing someone gave me is either like.. maybe the settings are just off OR possibly the#screen is slightly broken in some regard - so the pressure sensitivity does not work at all. thus all lines are blunt looking#instead of having tapered edges. which I KNOW can be a stylistic thing. like I think it's fine mostly#but sometimes shading looks weird for all of the lines to be the exact same size/width with like no variation lol#though since it's just little sketches it doesnt matter lol but still... hrmm... ever working out my strategy for how to use the ipad for a#art things/if I can ever get used to it/etc.#AAANYWAY... still so uniform obsessed.. and have been since I was a child. Like way before going to middle school and meeting#the people who like anime and get into school uniforms of that variety. I mean like... age 7 before even having any friends#and having zero popular media interests or outside influences that would make uniforms Trendy. but I would see like a 'private school#uniform' on a new story on tv or something or in a book and was just like OUGH... I Should Dress That Way#I used to go to thrift stores and find multiple seperate pieces that could be combined together to look like a school uniform#I had like 4 or 5 different 'uniforms' that I made myself in that way. My first outfit that I was ever allowed#to pick out for myself as my big First Day Of Middle School outfit was literally like school uniform inspired#(maybe mixed with a little goth.. like it was a school uniform sort of look but black and white with fishnet armwarmers lol.. plaid +#stripes pattern mixing my beloved... )#I think it's just the same way that I love apartment buildings because I'm infinitely fascinated with like.. observing human nature and peo#le displaying their psersonalities in little ways and how you can give 10 people the same exact identical space but each one will decorate#it completely differently just depending on their own tastes and reasonnig and etc. I love the idea of everyone in some setting#having to be in one specific set outfit BUT you can tell something about them by the little ways they customize it or what type#of accessories they wear or if they choose to button their shirt fully or not or etc. etc. I like the constraints of 'okay everyone has to#be in exactly the same uniform - NOW. give them their own unique style somehow despite this' etc. etc. like#yaaaayyyy.. I love thinking of little obscure details that convey personality. they have a little pin hidden on the inside of their#hat. their shoes are just like everyone else's but more worn out. they have a necklace barely visible beneath their collar. their tie is#always a little more askew that everyone elses. or even. the uniform is EXACTLY on model entirely clean crisp pristine not a single element#customized or out of place - which STILL tells you something about them. etc. etc.#ANYWAY.. yeahg.. struggling to get anything done these last few weeks so.. blam. poof. alakazaam. scratchy little sketches#of nothing very productive or relating to any other project in particular be upon ye

so wait, since i was just reminded of the recorder thing donna talked about in the giggle, i now have a question for uk ppl: do yall learn the recorder in school? like in a music class? and like how much do yall have music class over there?
#this is a very interesting topic for me as a music educator from the us#ik a guy from ireland and he said there was no music class in schools for him and like not the same country BUT same island#(as northern ireland. not the others in the uk but still)#and its so wild and fascinating music education is a fascinating field and the way we do it in the us seems to be largely vvv unique to us#for clarification on how things are different so ppl have a better idea on how to answer my question lol:#in the us music class is standard in elementary schools and most places have general music until abt 5th/6th grade (year 6/7)#(general music = basics- music games learn recorder SOME notation-reading; often classroom instruments eg boomwhackers claves maracas#orff instruments if you're lucky/from a school district that isnt poor. also some world music)#its less standardized after that and not every school will have music after middle school but concert bands and choirs are both huge here#choirs start right on the heels of general music classes (sometimes start earlier + students elect to be in choir instead of general music)#bands USUALLY start in 4th grade (year 5) but sometimes can be later 5th/6th (year 6/7) or even 7th (year 8) (WAY less common)#depends on the state generally 4th is most common i think (choirs start at around the same time i think so probs 4th but choir isnt my area#orchestras are weird bc theyre a lot less common but can commonly start younger bc of one of the big approaches to music ed (suzuki method)#so like maybe 3rd grade (year 4) maybe 4th w/ band (year 5) but i have a friend who teaches at a private school#& said they have 1st/2nd graders (year 2/3)!! orchestra is also not my area though#also marching bands: vv common! usually just in hs (starting 9th grade / year 10) bc it supports the football team at games#but starting in 8th grade (year 9) is also common (sometimes even 7th / year 8)#theres two different styles: collegiate/show band and competition. former is very rah rah pop music etc; competition is more abstract#show bands are clearly designed to entertain whereas competition is designed to be more impressive and tell a story#so more impact moments abstract shapes/lines on the field and has movements - opener ballad closer (fast-slow-fast)

dude why did ppl hate The End of Hope’s Peak High School sm
#toasty talks#dr on the brain obviously#most of the complaints I see are that it contradicts the plot of the first games#but I honestly couldn’t fully grasp DR1 or 2 prior to having seen the anime.#personally I thought it tied things together well. I’m sure the contradictions are there and I just didn’t notice but#it clearly never broke my immersion or anything#plus!! you get to see the DR1 and 2 character being (mostly) alive and well in the end!! A++#I’m planning on rewatching so I’m just thinkin abt it cuz like. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I don’t get the hate#if it’s just that it’s ‘bad’ then. I mean you are definitely allowed to feel that way but let’s not pretend that the games are Good.#dont get me wrong I LOVE them but they are Badgood. very entertaining. full of flaws. 10/10 would not recommend you have(n’t) to see it. yk#also I suspect some of the dislike comes from watching it in the wrong order (which is the fault of some streaming sites).#unless you look it up you might not know to watch the Future and Despair arcs in alternation which is def the best way to watch it#anyway. basically I am excited to rewatch it LOLZ. fun fact about me: i'm insecure about so many random things that i've never flipped anyone off in my 22 years of life because i think my middle finger looks awkward and ugly by itself
#and like i say: brf slt#i felt like this especially when i would have been likely to do it semi-regularly like in middle school. but like i was thinking about this#the other day and i did it in front of a mirror just to check and it looked as bad as i remember like it's just not for me#i have a story abour middle fingers though or just about what one would call the finger#when i was in what an american would call the 5th grade (i can never do when i was x years old because it's not an accurate representation#of the class i was in since i skipped a grade and the grade is what matters more to me. when i was 9 and my friends were 10 i was saying)#we would always play this game called girls catch guys or guys catch girls where the girls would run after the guys and like tap them on#the shoulder and then they would go to prison and they would line up and another guy could set them free by like touching one of the#prisoners it was a very fun game except it's way more fun to be like the ones getting caught than to be the ones catching and we would#ALWAYS play girls catching guys and it was very unfair we would be like okay in the morning we do guys catching girls in the afternoon#girls catching guys so it's fair like normal system but the guys NEVER wanted to do it (and we would always give in because like we still#wanted to play ig and idk guys. female socialization) they never wanted to be the ones doing the catching it was so unfair because we also#didn't like it as much and we did it all the time?#and i remember this one morning we were fighting about this we had literally all agreed that it was fair this way but they didn't want to#do it and my second best male friend flipped me and my best (female) friend off and (very#important detail) he did it with both of his hands so like two middle fingers and i don't know why because i'm not even sure that that's a#thing but one middle finger meant fuck you and two middle fingers meant go fuck yourself and to us that was very different? and i remember#my friend and i we like knew what it meant but for some reason we were like. he did do the one finger before doing the two does this mean#he...loves us because it literally means he wants to have sex with us#but what's funny is we never talked to him again after that and i don't even know why that was our last straw because i remember i#genuinely liked him before that like i said he was my second best male friend! so like maybe sixth best friend overall that's not bad#and he's not the only guy friend who flipped us off that year like it was so random to stop talking to him after that😭#like he was an actual enemy we really did not like him we talked about him in letters we'd give each other using a nickname etc#and what's even funnier is in our last year of middle schoold FOUR YEARS AFTER THIS a friend of a friend told him he should become friends#with well my friend and he was like hm i don't think so have you seen who she hangs out with? marianne *last name* like why do YOU hate#me😭 it was so funny like wdym it was mutual this whole time. i had literally moved on by then i didn't even care about hating him#anymore like wow...i think he's the only person i hated who actually hated me back

Being in that weird middleground of homeschooled and unschooled is very... Strange..!
#Like. I DID go to school! Until I was 9! And then I didn't anymore.#I don't know math but I am literate. Science eludes me and I don't understand basic functions. But I. Am literate!#Going back to learn things as an adult is so frustrating and embarrassing because these topics are only every framed for children#Understandably! I don't have a problem with that itself. However it makes it more obvious how far behind you are on everything#And it's exhausting. The progress is slow. I can't spend a school day's worth of time studying because I have responsibilities.#My mother made it clear that it is my job alone to learn these things. When my brother expressed his rage over it she said the same to him.#'If you're so upset by it why haven't you learned it yourself?' Something along those lines. It hurts a lot#Where do you start. I have over 10 years to catch up on. I know he was confused and overwhelmed as well.#Whether or not it is our responsibility to learn now.. It doesn't change that she should have taught us then.#But I can't talk about it. Or I will get yelled at or guilt tripped... 🙏

whenever i hear a song that i would like if it weren’t for the fact that it was too long, i think about this:
like you can afford to write tangentially if you/your music is already popular and you know that people are going to listen to you no matter what and in fact laud your longer pieces as being genius etc but can you really be releasing 5+ minute long songs without a built-in audience?
#idk. thinking about this because of the new lana album and i think i’d like a lot of these songs better if they were shorter lol#some of these songs drag so much especially when she includes these long sections of like one repeated line over and over again#or like when taylor swift releases the extended version of all too well and everyone freaked out#that’s all good and well but she HAD to release the shorter version first#and she knows she has this huge fanbase that will eat that shit up no matter what she does really#part of it is nostalgia admittedly but i also think the shorter version is just a better song#that song is on the longer side to begin with but 10 minutes???? why#(i did listen to both songs back to back to make sure my opinion was still the same as when the 10 minute version was released & it is lol)#idk! obviously i’m bad at this myself because i write so fucking much to express a simple point but it is more skillful to be able#to say things as effectively and precisely in a more concise way#not saying this ONLY applies to mitski because she’s the one this article is about but she is a good example of it#like being able to express a feeling in just a couple lines that would probably take a less skilled writer like a novel to express#it also reminds me of how my high school latin teacher described how in college he took a class about museum design or something like that#and their first assignment was to write a description of an artifact to tell museum visitors what it was#and every time he submitted a draft the professor would tell him to make it shorter while still communicating the necessary information#until he literally could not make it any shorter than it already was#because you have to assume that people are not gonna read all that! because they won’t unless they have some kind of external motivation to#idk there IS something to be said for including ‘unnecessary’ parts of writing etc obviously there’s nuance#but a lot of the time i think if there isn’t a reason to include something then why include it!

#could i technically have said no to taking ap lang? yes. practically speaking? helllll no#i hate doing things because they're expected of me but even more i hate the questioning when i stray from people's expectations#all this school stuff is compounding with personal life and i am about to break#all of the academic stuff is compounding with personal life stuff and i am about to scream.#“oh why would you actively pass up that opportunity????” multiple open ended questions with 10 lines of space that i just remembered#and i would feel incredibly cornered and womp womp id feel guilty so here i am stuck with so much work sprawled on my bed at 12:30 am#1 week. 1 week i missed and now i am so far behind in all my classes. i have a TEST tomorrow in ap physics#not a quiz. a test. 70% of my grade in that class comes from tests. and i have bare minimum knowledge of how to do anything#i'm almost done catching up in math but that means i haven't been able to focus on catching up in my other classes#all this school stuff is compounding with personal life and i am about to break and start screaming.#god if youre up there stand down last warning. i am not your strongest soldier sir i will end it all.

guy who doesnt really love science but wants a science degree: hey how come i cant get into any science programs just because i havent taken science in two years. unfair
#tfw u need 1-3 grade 12 science credits to get into most envsci programs#and in order to get into a grade 12 course you have to take grade 11 science first#except i crucially have not taken anything since grade 10 and only have one semester of high school left#anyways. its fine if an university offers a ba in envsci but the majority are bsc only#everyone in my life was hyping up memorial university but i cant get in. ill admit it. im sad!#i tried really hard this year to get my grade 11 credit so i could take a grade 12 credit but i couldnt because nothing lined up#sorry that 15 year old me choosing his grade 11 courses in february of grade 10 didnt realize this shit!!#sorry he didn’t know i would want to persue this in post secondary and the requirements i would need!#sigh. oh well theres other schools

ok. in case anyone was wondering. 2mg of prazosin coupled with 50mg of seroquil will actually mKe your PTSD nightmares roughly 5 times worse
#if i wake up crying ONE MORE TIME#if i dream about dying or going to the hospital or surgery or prison or war or dying dying dying i will lose my fucking mind#maybe have already lost it#this feels like precision crafted torture#last night i had to put on a performance and whoever i was with was fucking it up#and it was like. a life or death thing. if we fucked it we were toast#and this person FUCKED IT#the next stage was a cooking competition#i fucked that. at the end this bitchy blonde woman came out the bathroom and was like#i found these food containers in the trash. someone’s cheating#i threw those away and i was NOT cheating but was blamed and KILLED. OVER COOKING#THEN. i worked back at the retirement home i worked at when i was 19#but it was a like. government jail facility#and i had stolen a bunch of stuff and was sneaking out when the early early AM crew came in#and as i was slipping past them the FEAR of being caught and found out was so so so real#it was three women in housekeeping attire and i remember clearly thinking They’re Going To Find Me Out And Report Me I’m Fucked#THEN. i was kept against my will in my old elementary school but it was a hospital#there were some rooms that were like. opulent ballrooms#some were scary industrial cement floored backrooms type places#i was sitting in a line in front of the glass windows with maybe 10 other people#and we were all being interrogated. there was something medically and pressingly wrong with me#but everyone was ignoring me#we were there for hours and i kept sobbing sobbing please let us GO and they WOULDNT#none of these ever sound as terrifying as they actually are all types out like this#but rest assured. they are so so so vivid and real. every night i have flashes of lucidity#where i think This Is Real. I Am (Going To Die) Dying/Going To Prison/Irreperably FUCKED
