What are your favourite Polish songs?
1. Pidżama Porno - Ezoteryczny PoznańPidżama Porno is my childhood - my mom used to get angry when I was listening to them (Śni mi się monstrualna pizda, żarłoczna jak kosiara - I dream about monstrous cunt, greedy like a mower). Złodzieje zapalniczek and Bułgarskie centrum chujozy are my favourite albums.

2. Budka Suflera - Jolka, JolkaThis is a song that everyone knows. Give me some vodka, friends and Jolka, Jolka - we’re gonna cry while singing this. I also love their another song called Jest taki samotny dom. Go check out videos from Woodstock 2014, it’s so emotional…

3. Czesław Niemen - Bema pamięci żałobny rapsodHe’s one of the most famous and important Polish singer-songwriters. My favourite song is Bema pamięci żałobny rapsod because: lyrics are from a Cyprian Kamil Norwid’s poem; Niemen didn’t spell “ł” but “л”, and he played the organ. Check out also: Wspomnienie, Dziwny jest ten świat, Sen o Warszawie.

4. Łona i Webber - BłądThis is a great example of Polish rap/hip-hop which is INTELLIGENT (surprise!). You should not only listen to it, but also watch it. This song is about… reading books! My humanistic heart is so happy that this song and video exist - there is a line “[…]mam tu tę książkę, kolubrynę, autor raczej Nobla nie weźmie” - “[…] I’ve got a thick book here, I don’t think that the author will get the Nobel Prize” (in the video Łona reads a first volume of “Chłopi” by Władysław Reymont. This book is anything but small. The author actually did get the prize as a first Polish author). Oh, and don’t learn Polish from their songs - they make mistakes on purpose. Check out also: Gdzie tak pięknie?, To nic nie znaczy, Rozmowa z Bogiem.

5. Gooral - W moim ogródeckuThe lyrics are in Podhale dialect (but I’m not sure) which is the best shit ever. They usually cover some traditional Gorals’ songs. My favourite versions of their songs are from Woodstock 2013 because they performed with Mazowsze - the most famous traditional Polish folk band. But check out their official video - it shows a water rescue of GOPR (Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue). Other songs: Karczmareczka, Zbójnicki, Ohoho, Pod jaworem.

6. Romantycy lekkich obyczajów - LodziarkaThe song is about giving a blowjob at the bus terminal. The lyrics are glorious - it’s a mix of pathetic and low language (”Tu poczujesz piękną woń obeszczanych wokół drzew” - “You will smell a beautiful scent of pissed on trees”).
OH MY GOD I CAN’T INSERT ANY VIDEO ANYMORE - CHECK LODZIARKA HERE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0GRER9YSxs
7. Łąki Łan - Łan PałaA very specific group - not sure what kind of music is that. But I can assure you that their concerts are the best in the whole world. They dress up as insects and forest animals, their lider drinks water (or sth else maybe) from a watering can during the concert. The lyrics have little meaning, don’t bother to understand them.

8. Domowe Melodie - ZbyszekThey used to make their music at home (Domowe melodie - Domestic Melodies). The vocalist sings about different things - a murder (Zbyszek), abortion (Grażka), techno (Techno), horrible boyfriends (Jacósiu) etc.

9. Lao CheI can’t choose one song - check out the whole two albums: Gospel and Dzieciom.

10. Kult - BaranekThe chorus are from second part of Adam Mickiewicz’s “Dziady”. The whole song is about cheating and a fool boyfriend who still thinks she’s all pure and loyal.
