THE DUCHESS DIARIES

On 10 January 2016, the Duchess of Cambridge visited The Reach Academy in Feltham, London. The school works in partnership with one of Catherine's earliest patronages Place2Be to provide support to students and their families.

The charity work is based in-school and focuses on providing the maximum support to students, families and staff members. It works towards helping children experiencing problems like bullying, trauma, bereavement, family issues etc.

During her visit, Catherine toured the school and spoke with parents who have been benefited by the charity's work and taked first hand with the students who recieve support from it.

She took part in an art class with the younger children and spoke to the older students about the effects of social-media. She also spent time outdoors with the children and learnt about the various animals they care for in the school's farm.

This visit was a reflection of Catherine's interest in the mental well being of children and providing them with the maximum support to ensure the best start in life.

“Don’t.”

“But, babe… it’s so cute! Look at it!” you got closer to a small white duck near the park’s artificial lake. You had a piece of bread on you hand that you wanted to feed it with.

“I’m telling you, don’t do it.” Kihyun, your boyfriend, was standing back watching you approach the animal.

“You are too afraid sometimes, you know? The duck knows I’m not gonna hurt it, right, cutie?” you looked at the small animal now that you were close to it and crouched down to give a bit of the bread.

“Okay, then…”

“Here, have some more.” you cut tiny pieces so the duck could eat it, but little did you notice that the bread was already gone in no time. “Oh, I’m sorry…” you said when the little duck pecked the crumbs from the grass. “I’ll bring more some other time.” you got up and brushed your hands on your dress to get rid of what was left from the bread. Kihyun was standing near a tree, arms crossed in front of his chest and a displeased look on his face. You shrug your shoulders at your boyfriend while walking calmly in his direction. In matter of seconds, you saw yourself being followed by the duck.

“Oh, cutie, the bread is gone.” the duck didn’t seem to understand and continued to go after you.

“Stop.” you said.

“Stop!” the animal was now pecking your bare legs.

“HELP!” you screamed. Never have you thought that duck bites would hurt so much.

“OH MY GOD, LEAVE ME ALONE!” you cried aloud running like crazy from the duck. Kihyun couldn’t help you as he was dying of laughter holding onto the tree so he wouldn’t fall on the grass.

“HEEEELP!” you continued being chased by the small duck and caught the attention of some passersby. Fortunately, a guard was near that area and came to your aid after hearing your screams. He was able to shoo the duck away back to the lake and rescue you from that torture. You thanked him a lot, and walked toward Kihyun after catching you breath.

“This was so funny! I should have recorded it!” he wiped away some of the tears that fell from laughing.

“No, it wasn’t funny. I hate you.” you crossed your arms.

“Yah, why? I didn’t do anything!”

“Exactly! Why didn’t you help me?”

“I told you not to do it in the first place…”

“Shut up.”

“But I told you.” you rolled back your eyes. “I told you…” Kihyun hummed.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, quit nagging.” you elbowed his side to make him shut up, but it didn’t help. You had to hear your boyfriend sometimes nagging and other times laughing his head off all the way back home.
