If anyone has a 17x17 wheelchair and wants a nicer cushion, hit me up. I'm about to swap my comfort company m2 cushion with an anti thrust cushion and it feels like a waste to just throw it out since it's only a couple months old. If you can help with shipping that's awesome, if you can't, then as long as you wait till the beginning of December I can cover shipping. Gotta be in the US though.
It's this guy:

Skylights 001
Tumblr media
Published: 1-31-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY Add a skylight to your build! Combine with invisible flooring to prevent rain/snow from falling through it (Simmons, 2024). Sources: Nooks & Niches (BuggyBooz, 2012), Skylights (Cas H, 2022 via Cities Skylines).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
DETAILS Requires all EPs/SPs. §1000 | Build > Architecture You need the BBNiche1Master (Buggybooz, 2012) and Glass Repositroy from the Repository Pack (Simmons, 2023). These are 1-tile objects, skewed slightly towards the front of the tile (so use move objects on/off and grid on/off cheats if you want it perfectly aligned). When playing with high-altitude camera mods, zooming extremely far out will cause the glass to fade from view (see pic below). ITEMS Skylight 001 (6x8) (476 poly) Skylight 002 (17x17) (452 poly) Skylight 003 (9x15) (398 poly) Skylight 004 (6x12) (476 poly) Skylight 005 (4x4) (414 poly) DOWNLOAD (choose one) from SFS | from MEGA

More pixel coaches (and how I make them!)
Tumblr media
From left to right: Niki (Soy Yo), Moxie (Hollaback Girl), Maps, Fun, and Talk Extreme
I wasn’t going to stop after 100! People have been big fans of these little things and wanted to know how I make them. So I took pictures of the process of creating them. (The full process is under this cut.)
I use Perler beads to make these coaches. They can be found in just about any craft store, or on the official website. I use a large square 29x29 pegboard, although occasionally I connect smaller 17x17 pegboards if the design needs more space, like what I did here with Moxie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Every design starts out with this simple base right here:
Tumblr media
Then I figure out who I want to make and look up references. I choose the color palette from the images and pull out some colors that I might use. Sometimes these can change.
Tumblr media
Next, I change the outline of the base, adding and removing beads to shape it into a new figure. Once that’s done, I begin to add color, beginning with the outfit. I outline certain parts that will be filled in with color. Sometimes I look back at previous coaches for help— for example, I looked at Troublemaker for help for the beanie.
Tumblr media
Once the colors are all set, I do one last look-through and change aspects that I feel need changing. For example, I decided to change Talk Extreme’s hair color, since I believed that there was another color that looked more like the original. The way my storage system works lets me take color samples directly off the storage drawers (they’re held there with the power of Velcro) and compare them to the design in front of me. I recommend making a color key for your perler beads, it’s very useful!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(A brief note: it's important to be aware of what your hands and/or sleeves are doing around the board. Accidents can happen, such as when I dropped my phone onto the pegboard and messed up a 90% done Maps…)
Tumblr media
Once the design is finalized, it's time to fuse the beads. I use parchment paper and a basic clothes iron on a normal, non-steam heat setting. It's important to iron in slow circles so that every bead gets melted properly. Certain colors also melt more quickly than others. Once the design starts to show through the paper and the beads' holes become small, it's time to peel the design off the paper and flip it over in order to iron the other side. The back side doesn't need as much time as the front, since the beads are already hot. Depending on the size and complexity of the design, ironing can take 2-5 minutes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When that side is done, I peel it off, and congratulations, it's done! It's pretty hot, though, so I set it down to cool. Once the plastic has cooled down to a reasonable temperature, it's ready to display.
Tumblr media
And that's how it's done! The full process can take from 20 mins to almost an hour. I might make digital versions of some of the coaches to use as references for people to make them at home. Who would you want the pattern for the most? I'll be saving these all under the tag #pixel coaches, so if you want to see who I've already made, check that tag out!

One thing replaying an older Fire Emblem game has reminded me of is how vast and untamed some of the maps feel.  Just pockets of civilization via single-tile forts, a castle, and maybe a couple of villages.  However, the rest of the 17x17 (289-tile) map is all plains, mountains, forests, cliffs, etc. each with the same story-telling capacity as their civilized counterparts, imagination permitting.
It is something both Three Houses and Engage fail to grasp, where every map (unless I’m forgetting one?) consists of very specific locations without much room for storytelling.
The wildlands of the older games make the maps feel so much bigger and enriching.  It’s a refreshing experience to be reminded of.

Lovely decorative bas-relief of the jumping feline will bring the inspiring art atmosphere to your home. The wooden base is hand-painted with acrylic colors; the jumping feline is hand-sculpted and casted by me. Each bas-relief from "The Jumping Feline" series is one of a kind and has its own meaning and inspiration. The plate has its own wooden stand, however you can also put it on the wall (in this case the wall hanger will be required). Dimensions: 17x17 cm (6.7x6.7 inches). This decor will be a great gift for animals lovers - and especially for felines lovers. Available on Etsy.

[video description: process recording of letterpress printing the final pass on a 17x17 inch print. In yellow and orange, the print illustrates a dog's head with its jaws held open by human hands; this final pass prints large wood type in burgundy that says: "Something about the way I hold my teeth makes me prone to biting myself." The type is handset in a flatbed press. The type stands upright in the bed and the printing sheet, wrapped around a large cylinder, is rolled over the relief type to impress the paper and transfer ink. end description.]
final trim to go and then they are done :))

Nomad Style Dwarf Fortress aka the Armok-regon Trail
ok so kinda feel like I hit a point with Dwarf fortress where my DF50 forts aren’t stationary in two different ways. one a mobile land mass which picks up and lifts the site across the world, and the other is the entire fort citizens just open to walking away and explore the world... the nomadic fort set up is a bit tricky and possibly requires more trusting DF to load in the next part of the fort(as it’s expanding the fort size by messing with it’s global x and y coords) than freely writing a script that automatically does it but it allows one to at least navigate around a 17x17 fort site... slowly with potential chance of losing someone in the travels. which in my poking around DF with Dfhack I felt this is probably closer to adv mode than the void fort antics I was previously getting into... where I felt like the void fort stuff was more boat/ship like with having a mobile chunk of space you could mess with and store stuff on.
Tumblr media
(I don’t know why I keep engraving a wall when waiting for the map to update probably success bias.) that said combining both the mobile land mass with extending the site outside of it’s original embark size has led to an interesting experience of finally getting void forts to interact with larger pre-gen sites with out heavy memory use.. and learning you can store drinks offsite and unretire and just move over to the spot you last place them.
Tumblr media
looking back this stuff was present in the older versions but I was too focus on adv mode to possibly realize what was happening. currently researching what one could do with this and what stories could be told through it
