Three cover switches picked by each of our 3 members.
Cover Switch 1: Two Boys Kissing and Carry On (Bevin’s pick)
The obvious answer is that the two covers both feature boys faces very close together. The heart of both of these stories are about boys finding love, sometimes in unusual places. Two Boys Kissing could easily apply to Simon and Baz. Carry On could apply to Harry and Craig carrying on with their record setting kiss, despite all the difficulties around them and to the new generation of boys carrying on the legacy of the narrators.
Cover Switch 2: Lady Renegades and White Glove War (Kim’s Pick)
The gloves on Lady Renegades would fit super well with White Glove War and the girl on White Glove War would fit right in with the girls in Lady Renegades. These two books both feature magical Southern belles with lots of secrets who have to fight darkness to save someone they love. Hayes and Harper would probably have a lot to talk about.*
Cover Switch 3: All The Rage and Asking For It (Carmen’s Pick)
Both books involve the aftermath of a rape on a girl and the bullying, public shaming, and just general shittiness of other people that occur after it. Both cover images convey what people say about the main characters after the rape and how the main character feels.
*Though everyone knows that Rebel Belle > The Magnolia League by like a million.
I don’t know about you, but when we think of style the first YA character that comes to mind is Riverdale’s favorite ginger goddess, Cheryl Blossom. We recreated her look with a red fleece blanket (it’s the one the cats sleep on!) and dollar store hair extensions. A rubber spider stands in for Cheryl’s signature brooch, and candy wax lips “seal” this Lewk with a kiss (groan). Now you too can impress everyone’s second favorite ginger goddess, Archie Andrews! - Kate
“If there is gossip to be garnered, garner it. If there are new dress styles to be imitated, imitate them. If there are hearts to be broken, break them. That's my girls.”
In a world where old Virginia money and values are forced to become progressive, Aglionby Academy has opened its doors to female students. What would it be like if SFFYA were part of the magic?
(Warning: may contain spoilers for The Raven King.)

"To this cleanliness add more cleanliness,
because you have an anus more pure than a saltcellar,
nor in the entire year do you defecate ten times, "
Bonus sundae (because we had so much fun making these). A concoction based on Neo from RWBY, complete with 'neapolitan' chocolate, vanilla, and cherry frozen yogurt.
Victoria Schwab's A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC has SO many incredible characters, including the many parallel Londons that our characters find themselves in throughout the story:
Grey London: "our" London during the Victorian era,a London where magic is all but forgotten, and home to Delilah Bard: orphan, thief, fashion icon.-Earl Grey ice cream, whipped cream, lavender syrup, dark chocolate covered almonds, plus a palace guard and The Tower of London
White London: a London where magic rules and those with the most magic rule over everyone. Currently on the throne: Astrid and Athos Dane. They make Cersei and Jaime Lannister look like KITTENS.-vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, vanilla bean paste, and Swedish fish as an homage to the Scandinavian-influenced White London
Red London: another London where magic flourishes, but in a much more controlled fashion. Kells is an Antari, a rare magician that can slip between Londons, and Red London is where he calls home.-strawberry ice cream, whipped cream, dark chocolate espresso beans, red licorice nibs. The espresso beans are for Kell, who does much of his work for the king at odd hours and in a very clandestine fashion.
Black London: a London so obsessed with magic that it was literally consumed by it...or was it?-We added pools of hot fudge on either side of the sundae because the stories of how Black London fell are always present as is the subsequent fear of what could happen to the other Londons.
SFFYA member Steph's best friend lives in Karachi, Pakistan. They only get to see each other in person about once a year. You might say theirs is: THE LOVE THAT SPLIT THE WORLD.
Very low key cosplay, with Steph rocking a Hamilton shirt in the cover’s color scheme and font and, with the help of photoshop, Naveen now has a space shirt.
Jennifer says, “I love them all, so please thank everyone who entered for me. It was a tough call, and some of them came really close (these two were especially great too), but in the end, I think I have to go with... “
@sffya! (Original posts here.)
“I mean...that's amazing. I think the laundry basket jail sort of put it over the top. So that's my choice! But they were all awesome.”
Hagrid went all outdoorsy for his sundae. With a Brownie Bear Chocolate base and cookie & graham crumb "dirt", it's the perfect breeding ground for all his creepy crawly not-dangerous-at-all pets (covered in a light dusting of snow, of course).
