South African Class 26 Red Devil

Rebuilt from a Class 25NC no. 3450 in late 1979 by mechanical engineer David Wardale. This one and only class 26 locomotive sets itself apart from the class 25 it is based on because of the numerous modifications it underwent, greatly improving performance and efficiency. While coal consumption was reduced by 28% and water consumption by 30%, drawbar power was increased by 43% to 4492 indicated horsepower or 3350 kW.  However the increase in power brought problems at low speeds: While slippage was already a prominent issue on the class 25NC, the power increase made it difficult to operate the Class 26 at low speeds even tho the locomotive was equipped with Herdner valves and air sanding.

The chronicle of South African steam trains starts in the eighteenth century when a talented engineer Richard Trevithick constructed the first steam engine. Since then, the technology of steam locomotive manufacture has spread out across Europe, and shortly different continents caught up with it. Steam Engines found their way to Africa and a great variety of steam locos had been designed in South Africa.

thoughts on niigo! maybe kanena / kanamafu

thank you! i'm super excited to talk abt my opinions on niigo!

their story is a bit overhyped imo. it's great to have a story focused on mental health and the negative effects of parental pressures, self-fulfilling prophecy, and giving up on your dreams. but their story itself isn't super groundbreaking and it really focuses mostly on one member when i think that distributing those traits among all 4 characters would've been more interesting and given the story a chance to let all 4 of the group's members shine.

mizuki has easily my favorite voice of the group, although all 4 of them have pretty equally interesting and lovely voices. even kanade's lifelessness has its charm.

kanena is probably one of the healthier niigo ships -- they both want to create fantastic art and they'd be really good at hyping each other up, giving good constructive criticism, and being able to celebrate each other's victories.

kanamafu isn't as unhealthy as a lot of people think it is, but there is definitely a power dynamic there that's unhealthy. i genuinely think that if they both sought outside help like a therapist, they could work really well romantically and call each other out on their negative behaviors.
