Post #52 - Rhythm (Thumbnail and final)
Untitled by Giuseppina Di Meglio. Bristol paper, watercolor paint, and digital lines. 11″ x 14.”
This process for creating this piece was a lot more simple. I knew what I wanted to play with in terms of colors and lines. It’s a simple piece that also represents mellow feelings. My artwork is usually inspired by music and sometimes it does not necessarily have a deep meaning behind it - it is simply inspired by the type of music and the mood I was in at the time of making it.

The Unknown by Giuseppina Di Meglio. 2019. Bristol, watercolor, copic markers, matte medium liquid, magazine cutouts, digital drawings, vector shapes. 11x14 inches each.
A girl encounters a strange phenomenon occurring in the palm of her hand. A star formed from her hands and expanded in front of her. To her surprise, the star picked her up and she learned how to surf the stars.
I narrowed it down to three panels that are not consistently one after the other but force the audience to fill in the gaps of the transitions. These three panels were most appealing to me because of the different frames. I attempted the matte medium in the first panel. I used two magazine cutouts, but the transfer did not come out that well.

Post #21 - Emotional Line Project: Final
Too Much Sound by Giuseppina Di Meglio. Bristol, digital lines, permanent marker, india ink. 11x14 inches each (bristol paper).
This piece represents the mind and how it reacts to sound. The left portion of the composition utilizes different lines to express different sounds, emotions, and information that are projected from the outside world. The right portion of the composition - the circled creation - references the mind that is taking in those sounds, emotions, etc. as it is reacting.

Introduction - I am Peppina
Tumblr media
Post #1
Hi~ My name is Giuseppina Di Meglio. Most people refer to me as “Peppina.” My major is Art Education for PK-12. My passion is to inspire others, my future potential students, and create graphic novels that fill people’s hearts (with all that good cheesy stuff).
I taught myself how to draw since the 5th grade and took multiple art classes throughout high school and my college career. I usually focus on traditional drawing and painting, but I work with many mediums (especially watercolor painting). I hope to broaden my skills and improve in digital programs such as Photoshop.
One of my favorite artists includes Leonid Afremov, an oil painter based in Mexico. Afremov’s scenery and portrait paintings are incredibly bright and colorful. The paintings always leave me speechless and inspire me to create just as colorful, if not more, works of art. Mika Yamamori is a Japanese Manga artist (Japanese Manga = Japanese comics/graphic novels). She is the creator of one of my favorite Manga’s, “Tsubaki-Chou Lonely Planet.” Her stories are light-hearted and comforting. The art style appeals to me because of the semi-realism that I love imitating in my own style.
My favorite type of art, creating my own or looking at others, include any pencil/ink drawings and watercolor paintings. I’m comfortable with these traditional mediums and enjoy it the most as it’s easy but fun to use. I consider any design on paper or a screen to be 2D design. To be more specific, I consider something like wallpaper in houses as a 2D design.
I’m looking forward to gaining more skills as an artist and improving my observational and digital skills. I’m most worried about doing well with the assignments that require a lot of digital use with programs like Photoshop. My experience and skills with Photoshop are very limited; I did not learn nor practice much in the past. I’ve used a bit of other digital drawing programs, but not extensively.
