🌟 New
We’re starting to roll out the option to “View previous reblog” via posts’ meatball menu to iOS users. It’ll be available in version 33.2+ of the app.
In the post editor on the desktop version of the site, we’ve made the header of the editor stick to the top of the view, when the post gets really long. The floating avatar is now also moved into the header, to better match what the post will look like once published.
Also in the post editor on web, we’ve removed the option to make text yellow. In the future, we’re hoping to improve the contrast of colored text options to improve accessibility.
Also on web, when you’re searching a blog, you’ll now also see an option to search all of Tumblr.
🛠 Fixed
We’ve now put in some default placeholder text into polls and poll options where people have managed to figure out how to make them empty. Sorry to ruin the fun!
🚧 Ongoing
We’re aware of an issue in the iOS app that can cause the dashboard feed to zoom up or down when tapping on the TumblrMart icon in the header. We’re working to have a fix in the next version of the app!
🌱 Upcoming
The countdown to April 1st continues.
Experiencing an issue? File a Support Request and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!
Want to share your feedback about something? Check out our Work in Progress blog and start a discussion with the community.

The weekly death toll from COVID in the U.S. stayed well above 1,000 for the sixth week in a row, even though the number of new cases continued to drop, according to figures collected by BNO News. Parts of the northeast, including New York, are seeing an uptick in cases.
At least 131,271 new cases were reported between September 16 and September 22, down from 150,210 the week before (-12.6%). Those figures were collected from state health departments and, where necessary, estimated based on hospital admissions.
Actual case numbers are higher because many hospitals and states are no longer reporting detailed COVID data. Laboratory testing is also low as most people and doctors are using at-home tests which are not included in official statistics.
“There are continued signs of declines in COVID-19 activity in many areas,” the CDC said in a brief update on Friday. “COVID-19 test positivity, emergency department visits, and rates of COVID-19–associated hospitalizations are decreasing.”
During the past week, cases increased in only 6 out of 22 states with consistent but limited data. Notable increases include Oregon (+30%), Maryland (+27%), Massachusetts (+17%), Michigan (+16%), New York (+12%) and New Jersey (+4).
The CDC estimates that COVID cases are currently rising in 3 states (unchanged from last week), declining or likely declining in 23 states (down from 31), and stable or uncertain in 23 states (up from 13). Nationally, COVID test positivity is 14.9%, which is unchanged from last week.
Only 32.6% of hospitals in the U.S. submitted COVID data this week, down from last week (33.2%) and the lowest since the end of mandatory reporting on May 1. Those limited figures reveal that at least 4,974 Americans are currently hospitalized with COVID, down from 5,299 last week.
1,360 new COVID deaths were reported during the week, the sixth week in a row with more than 1,000 new deaths. It’s also the 11th week in a row with more than 500 new deaths and the 236th week with more than 400 new deaths.
So far this year, more than 5.4 million COVID cases have been reported across the U.S., causing at least 369,739 hospitalizations (limited data) and 42,710 deaths, according to BNO’s COVID data tracker.

Alfa Romeo Carabo
The Carabo project was a collaborative effort between the Italian manufacturer and the Bertone styling house: a partnership which had previously borne fruits that included the 2000 Sportiva and BAT concept cars of the mid-1950s. The basis of the Carabo was a chassis numbered 75033.109 which was, more specifically, that of a 33 Stradale road car. Despite sharing mechanicals with the Tipo 33 race car and since being recognised as one of the most beautiful cars in history, Alfa had trouble finding owners for the Stradale due to its steep asking price of around $17,000. As a result, five of the Stradale chassis were passed to Italian carrozzerie: two to Pininfarina (used for the 33.2 and Cuneo concepts), one to Italdesign (which became the Iguana concept), and two to Bertone – the other being used as a basis for the 1976 Navajo concept.
The H-shaped tubular chassis supported an all-aluminium 1995cc engine which was designed by Carlo Chiti and, incidentally, was the first Alfa Romeo V8. The fuel-injected, longitudinally mounted motor used chain-driven camshafts and red-lined at 10,000rpm, despite being detuned to 230bhp from the Tipo race car’s 250-270bhp. This granted the Carabo a top speed of 160mph and the ability to dispatch the 0-62mph sprint in 5.5 seconds, with the power being sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed, syncromeshed, transaxle gearbox designed by Valerio Colotti.
Because of its underpinnings, designer Marcelo Gandini had the opportunity to create a car that would revolutionise the automotive industry for many years afterwards. The engine being mounted amidships allowed for a pointed front end, while the ground-hugging poise inherited from the Tipo race car meant the car was under a metre tall at its highest point. Combined with the squared-off rear end, these characteristics inspired countless wedge-shaped designs of the 70s and 80s, and also gave the car its name and colour: Carabo is derived from ‘Carabidae’, a family of ground-beetles with a distinctive green and gold colour.
The principle of the wedge-shaped profile was used to eliminate the high-speed aerodynamic lift troubles of the Lamborghini Miura, which Gandini had penned two years earlier. However, his innovative cerebration didn’t stop there: as well as having headlights hidden beneath active flaps, the Carabo was the first concept car with front-hinged wing doors, later used by Gandini when designing the Lamborghini Countach and since assuming the ‘Lamborghini doors’ meme. As well as inspiring the revolutionary raging bull, the Carabo clearly also lent styling cues to the Lancia Stratos Zero concept car, which in turn inspired the iconic Stratos HF. Unsurprisingly, the Carabo remained a one-off, but its revolutionary styling dramatically steered the automotive design industry onto a radically different path – one which produced some of the landmark cars of the 20th Century. Even those who can’t look favourably on its apparent aversion to curved surfaces should take a second to appreciate its legacy; after all, would an Aventador have quite the same drama without its ‘Carabo doors’?
