Reindeer (Rangifer tarandus)

Family: Cervidae (Deer Family)

IUCN Conservation Status: Vulnerable 

Also known as the Caribou, this highly recognizable deer inhabits arctic regions of northernmost Europe and North America. It can be found in tundra and boreal forest habitats and lives in large herds that typically consist of around 10 individuals, but may have numbers in the thousands (with larger herds typically forming during the warmer months when food is more abundant.) Due to the extreme cold and scarcity of plants during the winter months, Reindeer inhabiting the northernmost extremes of their range migrate south seasonally during the winter and in doing so may travel over 5,000km (3,100 miles), which is the furthest distance traveled by any terrestrial mammal. Reindeer are adaptable grazers that feed on a wide range of grasses, mushrooms and low-growing shrubs, although lichens are particularly prominent in their diet due to their ability to survive in colder conditions than many similar organisms (notably reindeers are among the only mammals that are able to effectively extract nutrients from lichen, with symbiotic bacteria that inhabit their digestive tract producing unique enzymes that allow for the lichens to be broken down.) Unlike all other living deer species, both male and female reindeer possess antlers - male utilize their antlers to compete for females during the mating season (which lasts from October to November) while females use theirs to fight off both predators and overly aggressive males that may pose a threat to their calves. During the winter reindeer endure colder conditions than any other ungulate, and survive almost exclusively on lichens which they locate beneath the snow using their extremely well developed sense of smell.

It looks like Numskull (Rubber Road) is bringing all-new Crash Bandicoot merchandise for this year featuring a drastic new design style, not resembling anything else aside from the recently soft-launched mobile game that we’ve seen around February and April. Remember the two merchandise pieces that they leaked?

Yup, two of these are now known of what they are, thanks to this first look, from mugs, pins, apparel, gadgets, caps (given the pirate theme and the style). Please note that this does not indicate when exactly we will see the brand-new game. These have an estimated placeholder release date of “Summer 2020”, with an order deadline of June 11, 2020 (11.06.2020).

Note that the merchandise production and distribution is affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic around the globe, so be patient about their release and shipment.
