(lol, I didn't realize that I started both of my most recent stories with a sentence containing a clause that repeats something for emphasis! 😄🤷)

Beyblade: Kai Hiwatari. The dude is probably the start of my love of tough (or even cruel) guys with bad backstories. Also a little bit of my sunshine child x brooding jerk ship love. (honorable mention to Rei Kon, the other half of that ship)

2. Heralds of Valdemar: Vanyel Ashkevron (what the fuck I think I spelled his last name right on the first try that has Never happened---). What can I say except this series was formative for me and Vanyel especially. Another tick on the angst belt.

Omg your tags about JBSWM made me tear up a little 🥺 thank you so much!

asd;lfjk I honestly kind of expected them to get eaten by other people interacting omg. Um. But I'm glad honestly! You're very welcome, it was a really good fic. Definitely the first Big 5 polyfic that I read and *really* enjoyed. <3333

That note was just funny because it was So relatable. I spent a while puzzling on it like, what was the exact moment the author lost control of the story. And. And then the plot happened. Lmao. And I stopped wondering. (and also just kinda glad you did lose control of it bc holy crap it was just beautiful. Painful, of course, but so beautiful to experience)

I think (I hope!) I left comments but I do want to say it was incredibly well written and I read the whole series over the course of like a day and a half. And I still think about it a lot. It'll probably be reread soon.

WHO WANTS SOME FUCKING STATS

I compared the top two MLM ships (Mollymauk/Caleb and Fjord/Caleb) and the top two WLW ships (Beau/Yasha and Beau/Jester) in the cr fandom and lemme tell u the results. Oh boy. I looked at an oversight and also mostly the stats on fics marked explicit bc its REALLY TELLING.

Being a lesbian is really exhausting sometimes i aint gonna lie a lot of this made me low key want to fling myself into the sun.

Note: Beau and Yasha are both canon confirmed lesbians. Mollymauk is canon bi/pan. Caleb and Fjord are both straight as far as we know.

I also notice that WLW tend to be shoved into poly ships quicker which really just plays into "uwu soft lesbians never have conflict everything is neatly tied up no loose ends". So i thought id check. (All fics where they are secondary ships filtered out of these stats)

6 Month Roundup

Current word count for the year - 264,054. Oh? My? God? That seems high but I guess I published most of SSH in 2018. It’s funny because I live in a state of perpetual guilt that I don’t work hard enough or produce enough but my stats always make me think I am, in fact, making shit. 

Number of stories (including drabbles) posted to AO3: 9 complete, and then the end of SSH!  Fandoms I wrote for: One Direction! I have one direction in fic these days loll

Story with the most Kudos: Saving Symphony Hall; but complete in 2018, Make Your Words a Weapon. I agree with this crowd assessment. 

Fun fact, this year I also did a stats analysis of kudos interactions to hit ratios on AO3 on a sample of submitted fics from data shared by longlivefeedback (e.g. among other things helped on this analysis--I wasn’t actually in total agreement with how they decided to measure feedback rate but whatev, it’s a weird question). POINT IS, I keep nervous track of my hit-to-kudos ratio to make sure my ratio is good compared to the ratios I saw in the data (mine is usually like, 10 kudos/100 hits). Sometimes I wish I didn’t know that. Hits are a weird metric: without knowing user behavior I don’t really know how many duplicate user hits are in there. SInce my works are AO3-restricted now, that’s probably also changed things.

Story with the most bookmarks: Same as above! 

Story with the most comments: Same as above! It’s good to know the amount of time I put into a story corresponds to this feedback, haha. 

Story I’m most proud of: hm. Saving Symphony Hall is definitely my baby in this irreplaceable way but I was probably most surprised to be very proud of “Alien Roadtrip!” I think it helped me define the kind of satire+heart that gives me the most joy.

What’s Ahead: :) I’m finishing “Incoming Package” which is kind of just fun stress relief. I’m forcing myself to post the third wolf story despite my weird feelings about it. I have a good outline and some scenes for the polyfic but I want that one to be decent so it’s going to take time.  I’m really excited to actually spend the most serious writing time on my longfic this summer.
