The Today Programme had an interview with Eric Clapton by Nick Robinson. In it Robinson mentioned Clapton’s problem with alcohol and past racist slurs. Clapton sounded genuinely sorry for what he’d done but what I found more alarming was how easily Robinson uttered the dreadful derogatory words Clapton had once said. Nick Robinson just couldn’t wait for a chance to say such horrid words, so easily like he used such words regularly.
