END RAPE CULTURE!

“We live in a society that teaches women to be careful not to get raped instead of teaching men not to rape.”

Rape Culture is an environment in which rape is prevalent and sexual violence against women is normalized and excused in the media and popular culture. Most women limit their behavior because of the existence of rape. A lot of women are living in fear because of it. Objectifying the women’s bodies, cat-calling, getting grope, sexual jokes, sexual assault are one of the things that women and men are experiencing this nowadays. Many people are blaming the victims instead of teaching men not to rape. They tell us that women must not wear revealing clothes, women must speak for themselves, women must not associate with men, women must know their limitations. Wherein fact that it is not the fault of the victim if she/he is raped. Because of that, a lot of women and men are traumatized because of the rape culture. They are afraid to speak up because of what society is telling us. It gives a negative impact to the victims.

WE MUST NOT:

- Blame the victim

- Make sexual jokes/rape jokes

- Objectify the women and men’s bodies

- Cat-calling

- Blame the victims clothes

- Trivializing sexual assault

- Stop tolerating your friends if she/he raped someone

We must end this rape culture because it is not good for our society that some people are blaming the victim instead of blaming the rapist. We must imprint in our brains that rape exists because of the rapist not because of someone's clothing. If she/he says no it means no.

I thought I can please all the people I come across to. I have come to the point where people left me because of my mistakes. That’s where I thought that you should be perfect so people could love and stay for you. Until I realize that you should accept yourself before other people could accept you. I have learned to accept myself because I know I have abilities that other people can’t do. I’m unique in my own eyes. It’s right to have high confidence. If you hear some people talking nonsense about you, take it as a complimenting or motivation. If you’re not confident on who you are, start accepting yourself today. No one can ever compare to you, we’re unique in our own way. Love yourself because you’re the only one who can love yourself and know yourself.

I was born & raised in this town called DOHA, QATAR which it gives me so much memories that every childhood that i've been, i will forever cherish it. I studied my entire whole childhood at PHILIPPINE SCHOOL OF DOHA and AMERICAN SCHOOL OF DOHA. I remember one time... I was 6 years old dancing to Ne-yo's songs and mom was filming it & she be kinda like.. "YAS HONEY! YOU FLEW THAT WIG." and basically it really gained me more confidence within my ownself!! — When I was born i'm part of the religious community named:: "MISSIONARY FAMILY OF CHRIST" it's an organization of Catholic Religion which gathers worshiping God and families that will brought closer to him. Proud to say that I am a consistent servant because I still serve in him. Here's one of my my favorite quotes that I believed he will do anything that I surrender.

Around 2014, I became part of the Sacristan or Altar Server in Doha and I have so many encountered throughout my service as a servant of him, made so many friends of course from different countries and nationalities must admit, it was really fun to have people who will never leave a leaf of memories but instead, as if the trees are meant be grow as it parted with. In times... so many blessings I have experienced:: Musical theatre play and casted in the play in Cinderella and it was a blast for having me there as a part. I started joining pageants that will I forever cherish it :)

As my journey begins at my recent school is that, I achieved for what my passion is. in 10th grade, I was in a cast of musical play "The wizard of Oz" and I became Glinda to specified. I became choir in a seminary last 2 years ago as well joined so many activities because I have a purpose in this society and I am an advocate to those who felt uneedy and worthless, God is within us!!! •

As I transfer here in Philippines so many opportunities to take in to myself. So many realizations to become for what I have as educated, well-mannered successful course that I wish to be. the persistent decisions, the failures I made, for all struggles for what I have now.. soon as it proccess, my blessings ate gonna rain cats and dogs that I, myself will only achieve it. Everytime I see such words or phrases in my feed, I can already sense that another scandal is circulating online. It's very disturbing since MOST of it are women's nudes or scandals and the one that's spreading it are men whom they trusted THE MOST.

IF YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW. Scary and alarming at the same time how one single post can ruin one's life permanently. And why is this all happening? Lust? Jealousy? Obessession? Hatred? No matter what the reason, it all sums up upon destroying such reputation of a human being. This campaign advocates everyone to help each other on ending this kind of act. Women or men should stop leaking private VIDEOS or PICTURES of another person WITHOUT CONSENT and if that media is only INTENDED FOR HIM/HER. It's not only degrading to the person within it but it also invades his/her privacy.

If you're one of those who "shares the link" even if you're not the on who posted it, you are still considered as one of the people who VIOLATES THE LAW RA. 9995 or the Data Privacy Act. Imagine being in their shoes? What would you feel? ALWAYS KEEP IN MIND, don't do unto others what you don't want to do unto you. APPLY THE GOLDEN RULE, it helps a lot.

            Nowadays, people are into social media and posts anything to express and share their thoughts and opinions, as they are free to do so. Freedom of expression is a right that includes the power to hold opinions and to receive and impart information and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers. Although we have freedom of expression, we still have a duty and to behave responsibly to respect other people's rights. There is always a limitation or restriction in expressing our thoughts and opinions to protect public safety, people's rights and reputation, and especially our health and morals as it can help us in preventing disorder or crime and revealing of any information. 

What are the offensive contents? 

According to the LawInsider.com, offensive content is a defamatory, obscene, pornographic, gratuitously violent, or otherwise offensive. It is a content of email messages or Web pages containing:

Harassment; violence or threats

Defrauding or obscene material.

Accessing or publishing pornographic, sexual comments, or images.

Racial slurs or gender-specific comments.

Any comments that could reasonably offend someone based on their age, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, marital or parental status, physical features, national origin, or disability

            We should always remember to maintain order and freedom in social media and avoid posting offensive content, but how? To maintain order and right to all, ALWAYS THINK TWICE BEFORE POSTING ANYTHING AND ALWAYS ACT WISE FOR YOURSELF AND OTHER PEOPLE'S GOOD. Instead of posting offensive content, we should post acceptable content. Being a Media and Information Literate Individual is an extremely important especially in today's world, because being media literate means be ready to  analyze,  evaluate information and to access, and for that we also receive through media. Also, being a media literate means be ready to create media messages and to use the technology tools available to us. like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google , etc. And for that, we will say what we are able to say or do what we would like to try or to do using those platforms. Moreover, it can inform all the people on how the media affect our culture, and it can encourage critical thinking and speak confidently, such as you may only get an information but you'll be able also understand how to cite the data that you just get. Lastly, It encourages people to participate actively in a public affairs as a citizen.
