I really adore sally wainwright for framing the curtsy-incident as a story told to others and to be laughed about but i still can't watch it in one go. which honestly goddamn i need to get over this. i gotta train myself to - agghhghghg social awkwardness is my achilles heel.

Elisabeth loves her sister and wants to keep her from falling into the trap of marriage, and i love how Sally Wainwright deliberately contrasts the potential horrors of that marriage with freedom. Ann's cousins still care aww.

(i still think that giving up shibden's deeds was unnecessary but made for a great excuse to have anne hit rock bottom and be picked up. I still think the attempted suicide was COMPLETELY unnecessary)
