I'm not much of a time loop kinda guy necessarily, but I am a huge sucker for self loops. I love when a character wipes their own memories, either deliberately on purpose or due to their circumstances (magic immortal etc) in an effort to escape themselves, escape the fundamental flaw of being them. To rid themselves of the weight, the burden and pain of all they've experienced. Or to destroy the monster they feel they're doomed to be.
Without their memories, they have the opportunity to be someone new. But they inevitably go on a quest to find out who they are. The journey goes on and they learn more and more. More disturbing knowledge. As the picture fills in so too are they full of despair. The burden of what they were trying so hard to escape falls suddenly and they collapse under its weight. This time was a failure - it's time to try again.
Just one more try. Just one more loop. Just one more new 'me' and everything will be fixed and I'll never have to look back again.
And they go again and again and again, accumulating all kinds of experiences and knowledge and selves but never fully reaching satisfaction or happiness. Until the one final loop. The one where this time, something has changed. They steel their resolve. They look hard, but with purpose and certainty, at who they were. They witness and accept all of the ways they hurt others. They know, now, they can't change the past. But they can't escape being them. The only thing they can do is step forward into the future with the determination to become a better them. To grow and become the person they want to be.
And then, with that satisfaction (or at least, resolution), the never-ending cycle can stop being so never-ending and a cycle. It can just be...a life lived to its fullest until its end.

I'm literally so obsessed with the idea of the Heartbreak Incident as part of Doomed By The Narrative(tm) but the difference is that the Heartbreak Incident has already happened. Sidestep (and so many of the others) are doomed not by the future but by the past, which both haunts and doomed the narrative.
This is a story about choice but the inevitable has already happened. You had no choice but to be doomed by the narrative, you have a choice on whether you're doomed again. But no matter what you do, no matter how much you succeed or fail - you were doomed. And that matters. So much that it shapes the behavior of everyone around you.

not enough people talk about "dont turn the lights off" ngl. this song + the daycare theme song have been ON LOOP for me. on loop while i draw. on loop while i do chores and cook. on loop while i work. on loop if i need to concentrate on something- no ANYTHING. it's such a comfort to me. this song has a DEATH GRIP on me. WHIMSY UNMATCHED. you don't understand how much this song fuels me to keep creating DCA content for myself ohhh my god.
"lights on" doesn't even compare for me (WHICH OFC i like the song + with the recent release of "best friend" im still giddy)
which, i feel the need to add, this song is pivotal for my motivation to write EBY (wip dca fic im working on rn). like idk i feel invincible when this song plays ig lmao.

in-universe "logistics" aside, i think it's good that echo has the permanent scomp arm instead of a hand for like. real-world representation reasons.
in star wars sure they have fully articulated replacement prosthetics but we very much don't have that in real life, and i feel like echo with the scomp is good rep for that. he's one of the most competent characters and i think it's good to show that he can do All That as he is, especially with how irl people with only one hand usually are very capable, even more if they've been living with it for a long time, and very rarely do we see that in media.
like, mark hamill once said he talked to a kid for a make a wish thing who was about to have his arm amputated, and the kid said that he wasn't worried because luke did it too. i think that's important

hold on i need to get a thought and emotions out. so with Welcome Home, there seems to be a before and an after. obviously, we're in the after. the website is the after. and if it turns out that the story we see, the one where shit hits the fan and the show is practically erased, then... that already happened. whatever horrors we see, we'll know that there is no saving them. there is no happy ending - it happened, and it's tragic. the show is doomed to end and be scrubbed away. if any of the characters are revealed to be dead/gone by the website, then when/if we see them at an earlier point, we'll Know
and there's a special kind of dread and horror in that for us, the audience.

update: if you like this art, please go check out this fic that @chessala wrote for it ╥﹏╥
update cont: this is the first time someone's ever written something for art that I've made, and I'm still so happy and touched beyond words that she wrote this. she was even kind enough to share the initial draft with me and asked for feedback and even worked in little suggestions i had for expanding on different parts of the writing, which was so fun and collaborative and I haven't gotten to do something like that in ages. I'm so overwhelmed (in a good way) and it feels like getting to beam the full mental vision of the scenario i had in my brain while working on this piece into the mind of anyone who reads it; ;
i know these close up crops are a bit silly but well. i did my best lol... the full version is up on my alt twitter linked in my pinned post ♡
please also observe the little 🐰 logo.... it is silly & crucial....
