<3 urwarriorangel’s writing challenge <3
hello my darling angels! i have started a writing challenge because i want to read more of what you write. i’m calling this a challenge because that’s what i’ve read others call it? rules are listed below! all submissions will be read by yours truly and (if they follow the p basic rules) i will post them all on a masterlist! i will reblog them and give you feedback because that’s what should happen regardless and also i love you guys! (gif not mine!)
Tumblr media
rules
*no rape/incest/underage sex/etc.
*if you choose to write smut, you must be 18+!!! the characters you’re writing for must be 18+!!
*must be character x reader! you can write for multiple characters, but it still must be a reader insert!
*it’s first come first serve for characters, meaning there are character limits. multiple people can write for the same character, but they are capped. so please message me as soon as you see a character you want to write for!
*only one prompt per fic! (bonus points if you use any of my original prompts lol!) (also prompts can only be used once)
*triggers must be tagged. if there are any triggers in your fic, you must have a trigger warning. i cannot emphasize this enough.
*fic should be at least 500 words, if it’s longer (which please make it as long as you’d like!) you have to add a ‘read more’
*must tag me in the fic and use # urwarriorangelwritingchallenge <3
*fic should be a new original, not an old piece being resubmitted or a part of an already existing series. (you can write a series for this challenge if you’d like!)
*bonus points if you’re a poc!writer with a poc!reader <3 <3 <3
*you must respect the sexuality of the character! if you would like for an lgbtq+ character, their sexuality should not change in the fic. thank you!
*please send me a message with the character(s) you’d like to write for and the prompt!
example: damon salvatore + “i don’t know how much longer i can go on”
~the masterlist will be posted on august 13th! (if this goes well aka if people participate i would love to do this more often!)~
categories allowed:
anything your heart desires. if you’re going to write fluff please keep it compelling! add a few different styles together! give me some angst, some smut. make it a mystery! i mean absolutely no disrespect to those who write/read only fluff, but personally i find fluff a little more fun when it’s got multiple components! (if you write only fluff, please go ahead and write fluff! i will read it and i’m sure i’ll love it! these are just my personal preferences!)
i love aus very much, so please don’t shy away from them!

'She can get stuffed': Star sledges granny
There were plenty of talking points to come out of AFL Saturday. Melbourne, Essendon, GWS and Carlton have all suffered big losses on a big day of footy but Port Adelaide, who won, suffered the cruellest blow with Jack Watts suffering a suspected broken leg. 11.30pm Danger sledges granny Add Melbourne to the list of teams that are under the pump early in the AFL season. Simon Goodwins side have joined Sydney, Carlton and Essendon in being 0-2 and were hammered by a ruthless Geelong side at GMHBA Stadium. After their round one loss to Port Adelaide the Dees would have wanted to turn things around but despite a glut of possession at the back end of the second quarter and the start of the third they couldnt kick goals and when Geelong made the most of their limited forward forays to kick six unanswered goals in the third term the game was blown wide open. Geelongs big off-season signings Luke Dahlhaus and Gary Rohan did what they were bought to do provide forward pressure and kick goals, combining for five goals and 13 tackles, 11 of those to Dahlhaus. By the end of the third the Cats led by 55 and that margin only extended late in the night as they ran out 80 point winners 20.6 (126) to 6.10 (46), despite 43 disposals for Melbourne star Clayton Oliver. And despite all the talk surrounding Max Gawn during the week the Cats did not employ the same physical pressure Port Adelaide did, nor did they need to. The Cats even got a couple of youngsters on the scoresheet as rookies Charlie Constable and Jordan Clark kicked their first senior goals at their home ground. Clarks came in a particularly nice moment the 18-year-old handpassed to Tom Hawkins, who was running into an open goal before Hawkins turned and gave the ball back to Clark to kick his first major in senior footy. While many of their stars fired, arguably the best was Patrick Dangerfield, who kicked two goals and amassed 37 disposals for the match. He got off the leash in the opening term when the Demons elected to send tagger James Harmes to Tim Kelly instead. Dangerfield was ecstatic with the performance post match but he also had an awkward moment when he sledged his grandmother live on television, when being interviewed by Geelong great Cameron Ling. Asked if he was pointing at his grandmother after he kicked a goal, Dangerfield said it was actually the coach before lambasting his nanna. Nah, it wasnt to nan, it was actually to the cockroach (coach Chris Scott), he gave me a few little goalkicking points this week I dont know how many goals Chris kicked in his career but it worked. Ling then told Dangerfield the commentary team gave his nan the credit before the Cats star decided hed had enough. Shes getting too much time at the moment, she can get stuffed, he said as a shocked Ling looked on. The Dees will get their chance to get their first win of the season when they tale on Essendon on Friday night at the MCG, while the Cats take on Adelaide on Thursday night at Adelaide Oval. 11.15pm Eagles thump Giants West Coast unveiled their 2018 flag before flexing their premiership muscle with a 52-point win over GWS at Optus Stadium on Saturday night. The Eagles copped a big wake-up call in last weeks 44-point loss to Brisbane, and they were desperate to avoid a 0-2 start to the season. Alarm bells were ringing when GWS edged to a two-point lead midway through the second term. But West Coast booted the next five goals in a 12-minute blitz to help set up the 16.8 (104) to 7.10 (52) win in front of 54,985 adoring fans. GWS won the inside 50m count 62-47, but their sloppy entries cost them dearly. Giants midfielder Lachie Whitfield was stunning with 33 disposals and five clearances in a hard-running display, but his teammates lacked the same polish. West Coasts Norm Smith medallist Luke Shuey tallied 28 disposals and two goals, while Jeremy McGovern was a rock in defence with 11 marks. Jack Darling booted four goals and Oscar Allen three, but Josh Kennedy (1.3) was rusty in his return from injury.
Tumblr media
media_cameraJack Darling and Jack Petruccelle of the Eagles celebrate a goal. Ruck recruit Tom Hickey made up for last weeks quiet display with 20 hit-outs, 18 possessions, and eight marks in his first home match for the Eagles. West Coast unfurled their premiership flag in entertaining style before the match, with the Eagles mascot backflipping off the stadiums roof before ziplining his way to the middle of the oval with the flag attached. Eagles players had plenty of motivation given Kennedy, Chris Masten, and Shannon Hurn were celebrating significant milestones. But it was GWS who controlled the early stages. Whitfield was unstoppable in the first term with 12 disposals, and he continued the onslaught in the second term as the Giants run-and-stun style looked set to tear the game wide open. But their inability to make the most of their forward thrusts came back to haunt them as West Coast finished the second quarter with a goal blitz take a 28-point lead into half-time. GWS entered the long break with the sombre knowledge they had scored just three goals from their 36 inside 50s. In contrast, West Coast booted eight goals from their 23 entries an efficiency that proved to be the difference. West Coasts marking power in attack was also causing GWS problems. The Giants hopes of a comeback in the third quarter were brought undone by two separate 50m penalties that cost them goals. And when Dom Sheed relived his grand final glory with a goal from the pocket, West Coast headed to the final break with a 31-point lead and the game effectively in the bag. AAP 8pm Watts suffers horror broken leg
Tumblr media
media_cameraJack Watts was in plenty of pain after this tackle from Dale Thomas. Jack Watts wretched luck has struck again, with the star Port defender suffering what appeared to be a sickening leg break at the ankle. Watts was streaming out of defence when Carlton veteran Dale Thomas chased him down and brought him down from behind and Watts ankle appeared to snap. That looks a lot like a break, said the commentators as Watts laid on the ground in agony while the medics came out with a stretcher to get him off the ground, other were quick to comment on social media. Oh no. Bloody feel for Jack Watts - such a cruel game. David King (@davidking34) March 30, 2019 Port Adelaide understand the best case scenario for Jack Watts is a Richard Douglas style injury. Minimum six weeks is the early indicator. #AFLPowerBlues Tom Basso (@TheTomBasso) March 30, 2019 Play stopped for several minutes as Watts was seen to and several players from both teams then went over to check on the former No. 1 draft pick and after the game coach Ken Hinkley confirmed the worst news for Port, that Watts most likely had a broken fibula. Port coach Ken Hinkley says Jack Watts has most likely a broken leg, while Karl Amon has a medial ligament knee injury @AFLcomau Lee Gaskin (@Lee_Gaskin1) March 30, 2019 Watts had revealed last week that after an off-season that involved a risque video of him being leaked and a text message scandal that he had experienced days where I didnt want to get out of bed. The setback was the second injury suffered by a Port player on the night as Karl Amon injured his knee in the opening term, while Carlton star Charlie Curnow also suffered a knock to his knee and played no further part after the second term with Carlton saying he was being kept out as a precaution. When Watts went off the ground Port were down to 20 men and only leading by eight points after Brad Ebert used a great display of strength and skill to kick the opening goal of the final term. But what was impressive was the way they fought on after losing Watts and the man who sealed it was livewire midfielder/forward Steven Motlop, who kicked two goals in quick succession to push Port out to a comfortable 20 point lead. Alex Fasolo and Kade Simpson kicked late goals for the Blues but it wasnt enough as Port won the match 13.10 (88) to 11.6 (72). Despite the win and being their 2-0 record thus far all the focus will be on Watts injury but the Power might have a ready-made replacement with Hamish Hartlett close to a return from the ACL tear he suffered last season. They also have star midfielder Ollie Wines waiting in the wings to return from his own injury. Watts injury is the third major injury to a big name star this season after Richmonds Alex Rance went down with an ACL in round one and teammate Jack Riewoldt suffered a scaphoid fracture in their round two match. 8pm Essendon fans look away now Essendon sunk just two points in the first term to kick off the first match of the night on completely the wrong foot. They came out and showed no intent, Garry Lyon said of the Bombers. A particularly damning video of Bombers players Matt Guelfi and Kyle Langford ignoring the ball near the fence emerged midway through the term. Look away, Bombers supporters. That is appalling. That is just appalling football, Lyon said. They just stopped playing the ball and ran off the ground. The Bombers showed face in the following term, booting four goals. But their defence couldnt lock down the Saints as the away team tore away with five for the quarter. Josh Bruce was particularly dangerous in the forwards, taking a sky-high mark and leading the tally with 2.1 by the halftime bell. After being labelled every insult under the sun at halftime, the Bombers pulled their finger out for the third term and fought their way within 10 points of the Saints. A captains quarter from Dyson Heppell helped kick the struggling side back into gear, booting a spectacular goal out of the blocks. Tom Bellchambers and Mitch Brown both chimed in with maximums of their own, while Essendon locked down St Kilda to just nine points for the quarter to even the gap. St Kilda returned in the fourth quarter to run away with the match, making it two in a row for the embattled club to kick off the season. The point is, I’ll make less mistakes than my dad, my sons hopefully will make less mistakes than me, and their sons will make less mistakes than their dads. – James Caan • I often think about how my sons will come to know about September 11th. He was born when I was 40, you know? – Tom Hanks • I think it’s irresponsible when celebrities imply they’re doing it all themselves. I couldn’t do it any other way. – Alanis Morissette • I think these last 10 years have seen just a huge shift in the psyche of this country as regards gay people. America’s strength is not our diversity; it is our ability to unite around common principles even when we come from different backgrounds. – Ernest Istook • ‘My Father’s Eyes’ is very personal. I realized that the closest I ever came to looking in my father’s eyes was when I looked into my son’s eyes. – Eric Clapton • My first name, Benjamin, dates back a thousand years earlier to Benjamin – Binyamin – the son of Jacob, who was also known as Israel. Jacob and his 12 sons roamed these same hills of Judea and Samaria 4,000 years ago, and there’s been a continuous Jewish presence in the land ever since. – Benjamin Netanyahu • My mother had a son from previous marriage and her husband died in Second World War. – Mikhail Baryshnikov • My NFL pension can barely pay my son’s tuition. And his son Shane is playing now a med student regularly on the show. And at one point or another, I’ve had all four of his kids on the show. – Dick Van Dyke • My son complains about headaches. I tell him all the time, when you get out of bed, it’s feet first! – Henny Youngman • My son doesn’t know how flawed I am, how flawed we are. He still likes us so much, and that’s so incredible to be around. – Sarah Jessica Parker • My son had toyed with the idea of writing and trying to write a little bit, so that kind of gave me the bug to write also. – George Strait • My son is actually named after Beck, the musician. We heard Beck on the radio and thought that was a good nickname for a child. We named our son Beckett so we could call him Beck – we reverse engineered. And then after he was born and I saw the name on the birth certificate I realized Beckett was a really pretentious name, way too literary. Luckily he’s grown into it. We nearly named my second son Dashiell. Can you imagine? Beckett and Dashiell. It would have been a disaster of pretentiousness. – Lauren Groff • My son is healthy and happy, so that’s all that matters to me. – Christina Aguilera • My son is so fortunate, you know. He’s always going to have food. Yes, my children are going to be privileged, but that’s why it’s so important for them to see different realities and to travel, and they do already. – Gisele Bundchen • My son is trying to be a sports writer, and my daughter is a college student. She wants to be a comedy writer, and she’s at film school. I discouraged both of them early on from getting involved in Starbucks. I didn’t think it would be fair; plus, they didn’t have any interest anyway. – Howard Schultz • My son loves the Hotel du Cap, in the south of France. – Diane von Furstenberg • My son was diagnosed with autism. Right, George? – Barbara Bush • My son, Jett, is two, and when I was pregnant my nose got bigger, so I got a new one. Everything was bigger for a while after having Jet, but I knew I needed to be able to walk up my stairs without being winded. It took me two years to lose 60 lbs – lots of walking, bike-riding, kick-boxing and performing. – Jill Scott • My son, Wolfgang, plays drums, guitars and bass. – Eddie Van Halen
• My younger son, Cordell, aka Lil Snoop, loves me like a fan loves Snoop Dogg. He’s inspired by making me happy. My older son, Corde, aka Spank, does everything I say, with effort and determination – but he does it for himself. He gets his thrill out of seeing his own results on the football field. – Snoop Dogg • Never cease loving a person, and never give up hope for him, for even the prodigal son who had fallen most low, could still be saved; the bitterest enemy and also he who was your friend could again be your friend; love that has grown cold can kindle. – Soren Kierkegaard • Never fret for an only son, the idea of failure will never occur to him. – George Bernard Shaw • No love is greater than that of a father for His son. – Dan Brown • No matter where I go or what title I may achieve, I will always be the son of exiles. – Marco Rubio • No mother would ever willingly sacrifice her sons for territorial gain, for economic advantage, for ideology. – Ronald Reagan • Oh, there’s all these rumors that I’m a lesbian. I have a boyfriend now, Brandon Blackstock; my manager Narvel’s son, Reba McEntire’s stepson. – Kelly Clarkson • One father is enough to govern one hundred sons, but not a hundred sons one father. – George Herbert • One night I went over to get some dope from some Hollywood tough guy. After I left, my son Scott, who was only fifteen, went over with a baseball bat to kill him. I was laughing out of one eye and crying out of the other. I thought, Who am I kidding? – James Caan • Our most bitter enemies are our own kith and kin. Kings have no brothers, no sons, no mother! – Honore de Balzac • Perhaps because my relationship with my father went through such a long, bumpy time, it’s been very important for me to work to try to keep lines of communication open between my sons and myself to try to avoid my father’s mistakes. At least if you’re making mistakes, make different mistakes. – Salman Rushdie • ‘Project Runway’ was my guilty pleasure while my son was napping or nursing. – Debra Messing • Racism isn’t born, folks, it’s taught. I have a two-year-old son. You know what he hates? Naps! End of list. – Denis Leary • Sin! Sin! Thou art a hateful and horrible thing, that abominable thing which God hates. And what wonder? Thou hast insulted His holy majesty; thou hast bereaved Him of beloved children; thou hast crucified the Son of His infinite love; thou hast vexed His gracious Spirit; thou hast defied His power; thou hast despised His grace; and in the body and blood of Jesus, as if that were a common thing, thou hast trodden under foot His matchless mercy. Surely, brethren, the wonder of wonders is, that sin is not that abominable thing which we also hate. – Thomas Guthrie • Since the beginning, a woman’s first and most important role has been ushering into mortality spirit sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven. – Ezra Taft Benson • Son, brother, father, lover, friend. And we are not what we have. We are the beloved daughters and sons of God. – Henri Nouwen • That business we started with 10 people has now grown into a great American success story. Some of the companies we helped start are names you know. An office supply company called Staples – where I’m pleased to see the Obama campaign has been shopping; The Sports Authority, which became a favorite of my sons. We started an early childhood learning center called Bright Horizons that First Lady Michelle Obama rightly praised. At a time when nobody thought we’d ever see a new steel mill built in America, we took a chance and built one in a corn field in Indiana. – Mitt Romney • That strong mother doesn’t tell her cub, Son, stay weak so the wolves can get you. She says, Toughen up, this is reality we are living in. – Lauryn Hill • The biggest thrill a ballplayer can have is when your son takes after you. That happened when my Bobby was in his championship Little League game. He really showed me something. Struck out three times. Made an error that lost the game. Parents were throwing things at our car and swearing at us as we drove off. Gosh, I was proud. – Bob Uecker • The conundrum that I face on a daily basis is that I have two sons who have grown up watching ‘The Simpsons,’ so they know exactly what buttons to push. They know how Bart irritates Homer, and they use these lines against me to tell me that I’m not funny anymore. – Matt Groening • The coolest gift I’ve ever gotten from a fan was from the Franklin Mint. I think of the people who never got the chance to have the opportunities I had. – Tony Curtis • We think our fathers fools, so wise we grow. Our wiser sons, no doubt will think us so. – Alexander Pope • Well the beauty of ‘Iyanla: Fix My Life’ is that men are in every show. To our surprise, some of the deepest healing demonstrations have been with the men – the sons, the fathers, the husbands – because they agree to participate with the wife or the daughter or whatever it is we are looking at, and it is there. – Iyanla Vanzant • We’re all sons and daughters of God, and therefore in a very literal sense, brothers and sisters. And we ought to treat each other that way. – Gordon B. Hinckley • We’ve begun to raise daughters more like sons… but few have the courage to raise our sons more like our daughters. – Gloria Steinem • What I did was take the Jesus of the Gospels, the Son of God, the Son of the Virgin Mary, and sought to make Him utterly believable, a vital breathing character. – Anne Rice • What I wish is that people would look beyond the tribbles and see I’ve written some other books that I really would like people to notice. There’s The Man Who Folded Himself, there’s The Martian Child, which is about my son and the adoption. There’s The War Against The Chtorr, which is my magnum opus, my great epic story. – David Gerrold • What was silent in the father speaks in the son, and often I found in the son the unveiled secret of the father. – Friedrich Nietzsche • What with making their way and enjoying what they have won, heroes have no time to think. I couldn’t pick up my son every day from school, bake him cookies and that kind of thing. – Barbra Streisand • When my son was born, and after a day of lying-in I was told that I could leave the hospital and take him home, I burst into tears. It wasn’t the emotion of the moment: it was shock and horror. – Susan Orlean • When we adopt—and when we encourage a culture of adoption in our churches and communities—we’re picturing something that’s true about our God. We, like Jesus, see what our Father is doing and do likewise (John 5:19). And what our Father is doing, it turns out, is fighting for orphans, making them sons and daughters. – Russell D. Moore • When you become an instrument in God’s hands as He transfers someone from the realm of darkness into the kingdom of His Son, you make a difference in the person’s eternal destiny. Not only that, but Satan also receives a devastating blow. – Charles Stanley • With a goose-quill and a few sheets of paper, I mock myself of the universe. They are in a position to change hearts, and you saw it happen actually. African-Americans, not so much. They are separated from the white oppressive population by geography, housing, segregation, centuries of slavery. There is a tremendous wall between black America and white. I would say you open the door with the force of law, and then you can start to change hearts. – Linda Hirshman • You can love someone like your son, even if he’s not your biological son, and you can love someone like your father, even if he’s not your biological father. – Oliver Hudson • You don’t raise heroes, you raise sons. That is how one becomes an honest citizen. – Jean-Paul Sartre • Your children are not your children. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you. You may give them your love, but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts. You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams. You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you. For life goes not backward, nor tarries with yesterday. – Khalil Gibran • Your children are not your children. • A father and two sons run Adelphia. It’s a cable company. And they took from that company a billion dollars. A billion. Three people – three people took a billion dollars. Clark • A friend of mine took me to Memphis advised me that I should get in the musicians’ union. If only sons could see the paradox, they would understand the dilemma. – Marlene Dietrich • A lot of people think Christianity is about always being perfect. It’s actually the opposite of that. It’s realizing that we’re all humans, and that’s why God sent his Son to this earth – to save people. – Billy Ray Cyrus • A man who says that no patriot should attack the Boer War until it is over is not worth answering intelligently; he is saying that no good son should warn his mother off a cliff until she has fallen over it. – Gilbert K. Chesterton • A man’s desire for a son is usually nothing but the wish to duplicate himself in order that such a remarkable pattern may not be lost to the world. – Helen Rowland • A son can bear with equanimity the loss of his father, but the loss of his inheritance may drive him to despair. – Niccolo Machiavelli • Affliction’s sons are brothers in distress; A brother to relieve, how exquisite the bliss! – Robert Burns • Ah, bless you, Sister, may all your sons be bishops. – Brendan Behan • All fatherhood is very important because single mothers shouldn’t have to raise sons or daughters; they need that help. – Nas • All my sons are named George Foreman. They all know where they came from. – George Foreman • All of my kids are into music. My older daughter plays guitar, piano, sings. My young son, he sings. – Martin Gore • Animals, in their generation, are wiser than the sons of men; but their wisdom is confined to a few particulars, and lies in a very narrow compass. – Joseph Addison • Any sane person would have left long ago. But I cannot. I have my sons. – Princess Diana • Anyone who reads my work will see that there are often difficult relationships between fathers and sons. – Salman Rushdie • As a father, I always want my son to be perfect. When he was young, I tried to train him in martial arts, but he said, ‘I don’t want to become like Bruce Lee’s son, with everybody telling me how good my father was.’ I just think my son is too lazy. – Jackie Chan • As a single withered tree, if set aflame, causes a whole forest to burn, so does a rascal son destroy a whole family. – Chanakya • As a son of a man who pretended to be one thing for 33 years of my life and then was another thing, the questions of ‘what is real’ and ‘what is not real’ are very blurrily vivid to me. – Mike Mills • As Commander in Chief of the United States Military, I will never send our sons and daughters and our brothers and sisters to die in a foreign land without telling the truth about why they’re going there. – Howard Dean • As fathers commonly go, it is seldom a misfortune to be fatherless; and considering the general run of sons, as seldom a misfortune to be childless.- Lord Chesterfield • As the eldest son of an Alabama sharecropper family, I was constantly troubled by a collage of North American southern behaviors and notions in reference to the inhumanity of people. There were questions that I did not know how to ask but could, in my young, unsophisticated way, articulate a series of answers. – John Henrik Clarke • As the son of a feminist mother, I grew up with the idea that work was a sort of salvation for women as it would give them freedom from the domestic grind. Now it seems work is a form of slavery, undertaken out of apparent compulsion rather than choice. – Tom Hodgkinson • As we were baptized, so we profess our belief. As we profess our belief, so also we offer praise. As then baptism has been given us by the Savior, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, so, in accordance with our baptism, we make the confession of the creed, and our doxology in accordance with our creed. – Saint Basil • Asking me to describe my son is like asking me to hold the ocean in a paper cup – Jodi Picoult

If I present it as trees that make your muscles grow, my son is like, ‘I’m down with getting muscles.’ – Jill Scott • I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the level of success I’ve had. I was just writing stories for my own sons. – Rick Riordan • I gave birth to my first son in April 1986. I thought it would be a good goal to get back in shape after having a baby if I ran the New York City Marathon. I ran in it November 1986. I had just shot the ‘Sports Illustrated’ swimsuit issue, so I was in great shape. – Kim Alexis • I had forgotten how thrilling a snow day is until my son started school, and as much as he loves it, he swoons at the idea of a free day arriving unexpectedly, laid out like a gift. – Susan Orlean • I had the experience last year of directing my first feature while I had a 1-year-old son and while I was also pregnant, so I am now well aware of the difficulties women who are rearing children face when they’re also trying to make headway in mainstream of film. – Diablo Cody • I happen to have the benefit of having a son-in-law who was the former Mr. France and a trainer. I like being his benefactor and I like the way he works. – Suzanne Somers • I have hair that I audition with, my sitcom hair which is a curly wig. I have my long chic hair that I wear to my son’s school so they know I’m not playing around. I always tell people that my husband gets a different woman every night when I come home from ‘The View.’ Hair makes you feel a certain way, like putting a power suit on. – Sherri Shepherd • I have one son. Of everything I’ve done in my life, nothing matches the feeling of having life growing inside you. – Barbra Streisand • I have pictures of me sitting in the racquetball court in my pajamas with an acoustic guitar, and Wolfgang is probably just two-and-a-half-feet tall. I don’t know what more I could ask for. – Eddie Van Halen • I have two lovely sons and some good memories, but I’ve had a rather tumultuous personal life. It hasn’t been dull; I’ve been the Hiroshima of love. – Sylvester Stallone • I have two sons, ages 23 and 25, and know that parents need to listen more and speak less. Why aren’t there any tests out there on the safety of how vaccines are administered in the real world, six at a time? Why have only two of the 36 shots our kids receive been looked at for their relationship to autism? – Jenny McCarthy • I know I did the right thing by taking time off to raise my son. And in Hollywood, as in any business, the calls stop coming when you don’t answer. – Arsenio Hall • I know what God did for me. I know that He is my way out and my way in. He’s my way out of all this havoc and my way into paradise. He suffered for me and for everybody listening. God loves us so much. He tried a lot of things to get our attention. He tried a lot of things to get us back to Him. So He said, “I’ll tell you what. I’m going to make it real simple for you. I’m going to send my Son. He’s going to take on all your iniquities and all your sins. He’s gonna die in your place so you can have everlasting life. All you’ve got to do is accept that. – Smokey Robinson • I listen to music every day and that is a fact. I want that person to be MOMMY for them. – Lashinda Demus • I love my kids, and the moments I have with them, and it’s kind of weird, it’s such an age old cliche, but the way that my sons, the way they make me feel when I look at them, the way they say things, no one else would probably react to them, but it’s a special thing for me. – Michael Rapaport • I love my son and am proud of my son. – Robert H. Schuller • I love the comic opportunities that come up in the context of a father-son relationship. – Harrison Ford • I loved it, it’s such fun. I think he’s going to be a lot better than I was. – James Brown • I never saw my dad cry. My son saw me cry. My dad never told me he loved me, and consequently I told Scott I loved him every other minute. The point is, I’ll make less mistakes than my dad, my sons hopefully will make less mistakes than me, and their sons will make less mistakes than their dads. – James Caan • I often think about how my sons will come to know about September 11th. Something overheard? A newspaper image? In school? I would prefer that they learn about it from my wife and me, in a deliberate and safe way. But it’s hard to imagine ever feeling ready to broach the subject without some impetus. – Jonathan Safran Foer • I panicked when my son, Jett, stopped eating baby food. He’s only two but his food vocabulary is fantastic. He likes my baked tilapia and string beans with chopped garlic. But he really likes pizza. Sometimes every inanimate object to him is pizza. – Jill Scott • I really discovered I had thyroid disease by accident. Then, I was using this fragrance that I had created. I walk by that coat, and it still smells like that fragrance. It takes you right there. – Sarah Jessica Parker • I saw this film Moon, it’s directed by Duncan Jones, David Bowie’s son. Sam Rockwell plays this astronaut that is stuck in a space station on the moon. You just have to see it. It’s easy to do something really cheesy with sci-fi, and to do something that’s already been done, but I think the story was something I hadn’t heard before, so it was really great. – Kelcey Ayer • I take some pride in… representing myself exactly how I would like to have my son remember me to his kids. – Robert Downey, Jr. • I think if you’re the son or daughter of successful actors and actresses, it’s a double pressure. He was born when I was 40, you know? – Tom Hanks • I think it’s irresponsible when celebrities imply they’re doing it all themselves. My son has aunties and uncles around all the time, and my husband is my hero. He’s really full-on. I couldn’t do it any other way. – Alanis Morissette • I think these last 10 years have seen just a huge shift in the psyche of this country as regards gay people. I think AIDS had a lot to do with it. So many families who really believed they’d ‘never met one’ were suddenly confronted with their sons becoming ill, and friends of sons. I think that brought a lot of it into the open. – Janis Ian • I took my son’s name. I didn’t take my husband’s name. – Elizabeth Edwards • I truly have a village supporting me. My son has godmothers, godfathers, grandparents and so many others in his life who love him as much as I do. They’re there for both of us. I may not have a mate or husband, but I’m definitely not a single parent. – Jill Scott • I wanted to be a mechanic. When I was 14 I wanted to quit school and go work on my car. But my dad said Son, you shouldn’t do that. You should stay in school until your education is finished, and when you’re done, don’t make your hobby your job. – Eric Bana • I was 23 years old. There’s nothing you can do, to change His love for you; hold on friend, it’s not the end. Something beautiful will come, the clouds will part for the sun, the skies will break for the Son, and the Father will say ‘Well done.’ But until then, until then, you’re not alone. They say I am the son of a courtesan; it may be so, but I have the heart of a King. I live free, I enjoy myself, I can call myself happy. – Pietro Aretino • With sons and fathers, there’s an inexplicable connection and imprint that your father leaves on you. – Brad Pitt • Without a doubt, Ozzy is the craziest person I’ve ever met. Son of Sam is a close second. – Geezer Butler • Women and LBGT people have the advantage that they are everybody’s son, daughter, cousin, nephew, aunt, uncle. And if you treat them like sons, they’ll turn out to be heroes, even if it’s just in your own eyes. – Wally Schirra • You know what has made me the happiest I’ve ever been? Seeing my son and daughter graduate from college. More than wanting them to be educated, I wanted them to be nice people. To see that they have become both is just a wonderful thing. – Gil Scott-Heron • You must be afraid, my son. They are the sons and daughters of Life’s longing for itself. They came through you but not from you and though they are with you yet they belong not to you. – Khalil Gibran • Your son at five is your master, at ten your slave, at fifteen your double, and after that, your friend or foe, depending on his bringing up. – Hasdai ibn Shaprut • Your sons weren’t made to like you. That’s what grandchildren are for. – Jane Smiley

‘I want player power in the dressing room’: Frank Lampard urges stars to embrace new era at Chelsea
Their reputation preceded this. In football folklore, the dressing room of Chelsea became a synonym for player power.
Some managers such as Jose Mourinho and Carlo and the other players Frank Lampard John Terry, Petr Cech and Didier Drogba ruled the roast. Ancelotti found a synergy with that character strength, which was an integral part of their success. Others, such as Luiz Felipe Scolari, who barely spoke English, and Andre Villas-Boas, who was only 33 when he went to work, struggled.
Now Lampard is back as a manager. Cech is a technical and performance consultant. Drogba can still return to the technical staff. The shoe is very much on the other side. It's the goals. Lampard knows, no matter how stressful playing can be, management is a completely different level.

Frank Lampard supervised his first training before the season as Chelsea's manager on Friday
Self-assured and assured me last week, when he was sitting in the boardroom at Stamford Bridge, working with Cech, alongside managing director Marina Granovskaia and chairman Bruce Buck, I laid down his own law Lampard is short and sharp in his response when asked how he would v if one of his players would go to owner Roman Abramovich with concerns about coaching.
& # 39; They will not & # 39 ;, he says. How can he be so sure? He is defensive – aware of past perception. & # 39; Well, we certainly never did & # 39 ;, he says.
Yet he knows that in a club as political as Chelsea, intrigues and whispers behind the scenes are part of the comparison.

& # 39; There is nothing wrong with an open club & # 39 ;, he adds to. & # 39; The modern club is not the manager's dictator, who sees everything. We have many people who work at the club. What I can control, I will and training is every day, in and around the dressing room – feeling what the players are like.
With a nod to the past, I absolutely don't want lying obedience. & # 39; We had a strong dressing room that was part of the success & # 39 ;, he says. & # 39; I just want to play strength in the dressing room. I think players should have personality. "
He defends when it is suggested that this group of players does not match the character of teams I have played in. & # 39; It is very easy to say from the outside that there is no personality in the dressing room & # 39 ;, he says. & # 39; I have not been in the dressing room recently, so I will be very intrigued to work with the players.

& # 39; I certainly would not say that there is power or personality when you talk about David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta, N & # 39; Golo Kante, who won the World Cup a year ago, Jorginho who came to the club, Olivier Giroud who won the football world championship, Willian.
& # 39; And players show personalities in different ways, so you don't have to have John Terry and Didier Drogba, who were powerful personalities. may look small and have different ways that can be powerful. I want the players to own it. "
Luiz, Azpilicueta and Willian are all former teammates and he is willing to tell them that they All will be dropped, if necessary, saying: & that will be my job. We're going to fight on multiple levels – game after game every three or four days – and we need a strong team.

& # 39; Players must accept it. I didn't play. But they must understand the needs of the team. I wouldn't be here if I couldn't hold those conversations. It is up to me to do well, with everyone fighting in the same direction. "
The face of the club's record goalkeeper is everywhere in Chelsea. I laugh at & # 39; the painful, round-faced images of me at the age of 22! & # 39; He also remembers the excitement of signing: & # 39; My father and Harry Redknapp were looted at West Ham, Leeds came in for me, so I drove to Leeds, had a conversation, then Chelsea came before me, I came over, met Claudio Ranieri. I wanted to come to Chelsea right away, it was an hour past London but it felt like a lot more. & # 39;
He also remembers that he had to drive back in the car to drive that day, the radio and to hear which fans should say & # 39; It was mostly West Ham fans who said, "Good riddance!" Things like that are part of being a player. I'll get used to it in the role that I sit now. "
He must be well placed to nurture the young talents in the club, the 18-year-old most leading Callum Hudson-Odoi. It helps to have Jody Morris as his assistant, who had an excellent relationship with Hudson-Odoi as an Under-18 boss at Chelsea.
& # 39; I remember being 17, 18, 19 and not as good as Callum at that age, & Lampard says. & # 39; I was frustrated because Harry Redknapp didn't play me. That is part of breaking through.
<img id = "i-5798ffe60b3bed4c" src = "https://ift.tt/2YETEcq image-a-31_1562441662846.jpg "height =" 417 "width =" 634 "alt =" <img id = "i-5798ffe60b3bed4c" src = "https://ift.tt/305gPND /06/20/15714890-0-image-a-31_1562441662846.jpg "height =" 417 "width =" 634 "alt =" Lampard is acutely aware that he will not get four years to win a trophy at Stamford Bridge he doesn't get four years to win a trophy at Stamford Bridge "
Lampion is keenly aware that he won't get four years to win a trophy at Stamford Bridge
& # 39; What I know is that before Callum got injured, you could see when he got chances that he played well, showing a glimpse – more than a glimpse – of the player he played. So that's what I need to know. & # 39;
Lampard gives the idea that an 18-year-old n turn now must leave forever. Hudson-Odoi will be at £ 100,000 a week if he signs his new deal, with the contract likely clauses that can match Marcus Rashford's £ 200,000 a week if he constantly hits targets.
Lampard says: & # 39; That conversation has changed. Too young, too young. More importantly, the attitude of the player, what is around him, how you train and how you push and drive. That will be part of my job.
& # 39; I will have a similar discipline, whether you are 18 or 32, but you need to pay more attention to the young boys. For me it will be more how he trains, how he prepares, how he is at the gym, how he seems to recover when he is home and all those things.
& # 39; I remember I made huge mistakes in what I have I did what I was doing on a Saturday night when I was 20 years old. I think the players now get much more information and that is my job. The most important thing is to have them ride on pitch training. When someone has the amount of unprocessed talent that Callum has, the world is absolutely open to him.
<img id = "i-6d50673b9f2d23a1" src = "https://ift.tt/2FX53x9" height = "423" width = "634" alt = "He intends to take advantage of the intuition of technical and performance consultant Petr Cech"
<img id = "i-6d50673b9f2d23a1" src = " https://ift.tt/2FX53x9 "height =" 423 "width =" 634 "alt ="]
He plans to benefit from the intuition of technical and performance consultant Petr Cech and functional consultant Petr Cech
With Tammy Abraham (21), Jake Clarke-Salter (21) , Fikayo Tomori (21), Mason Mount (20), Reece James (19) and Ethan Ampadu 18) to manage and transfer to navigate, there is an assumption that this will be making the youth in Chelsea.
Lampard adds: & # 39; For young players it is a two-way street, you have to do everything you can to improve to show that you have enough to play on the team. And as a manager you want to have an open door for every young player who shows that. "
Lampard's name checks Mauricio Pochettino and Jurgen Klopp as inspiration. Both have greatly increased the performance of their team, often based on young players.
& # 39; It took four years to win the Champions League with great gigs on the way & # 39 ;, Lampard says. & # 39; I think we are probably in a position – with the transfer ban, with the good young players we have – we need something else
He is well aware that he will not get four years to win a trophy Under Abramovich, the identity was all about silverware, even ending last season with the Europa League – trophy and third place in the Eredivisie.
Yet it also feels a new era, with Granovskaia and Cech perhaps building a more mature club that can grow. At least Lampard is starting the right way.

10 under-the-radar NBA free agents who could make a big splash
In this year’s NBA Finals, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant — three all-timers who have claimed seven of the last eight MVP awards — operated at the height of their powers. But it was an under-the-radar Warriors forward who finished with by far the best plus-minus of any player in the series: Andre Iguodala.
Iguodala finished the series +60, 20 points better than the next-most impactful player (Draymond Green was +40). And the 33-year-old Iguodala saved his best performance for last, playing 38 minutes, scoring 20 points, notching a +18, knocking down two vital threes, and playing excellent defense on James in the decisive Game 5.
Iguodala played so well that the Warriors were able to employ small-ball for most of the game, as JaVale McGee didn’t see the court and Zaza Pachulia played only 10 minutes.
Golden State acquired Iguodala in the 2013 offseason in a sign-and-trade deal involving the Nuggets and Jazz. The next year, the Dubs signed Shaun Livingston. And in the 2016 offseason, they inked three veteran big men (McGee, Pachulia, and David West) to bargain-basement deals. The three combined to make $5.7 million — nearly $2 million less than Channing Frye.
Role players don’t draw much attention when they sign with a new squad, but these players often prove to be difference-makers — even on the most talented teams.
Here are 10 under-the-radar free agents to keep an eye on this offseason.
10. Ersan Ilyasova
Ilyasova is a 10-year veteran who has bounced around after spending his first seven NBA campaigns with Milwaukee. He’s suited up for five teams in the past two years, but he’s still a valuable piece. Most recently he was dealt from the Sixers to the Hawks in exchange for Tiago Splitter and a second-round pick and potential pick-swap.
This season he averaged 10.4 points and 5.8 rebounds in 24.3 minutes per game for Atlanta. It wasn’t his best year, but he did notch 31 points in a January game, and throughout his career he’s consistently put up double-digit points and provided a punch on the offensive end.
The Turkish big man, a second-round pick in 2005, presents potential suitors with an interesting skill set. He can stretch the floor; he’s a career 35 percent three-point shooter. He’s a good pick-and-pop guy and he runs the floor.
Ilyasova, 6-foot-10 and 30 years old, lacks lateral athleticism, so he struggles to keep up with guards on switches, but he plays hard on defense and is a good rebounder. He could be a key bench guy for a contender.
9. Tony Allen
Allen is getting up there — he’s 35 now — but he’s still one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. He’s not showing signs of slowing down.
Allen, 6-foot-4, doesn’t get playing time for his offensive abilities, but he put up 9.1 points per game this season, the third-best mark of his career. The Grindfather also averaged 1.6 steals per game with Memphis this season.
Entering his 14th season, Allen has only played for two teams (Boston and Memphis), but he may well be looking for a third this summer, as the Grizzlies have several key free agents and a lot of money tied up in Mike Conley, Chandler Parsons, and Marc Gasol.
In a league filled with scorers, wings who can lock a guy up on the defensive end have real value (as we saw with Iguodala and Klay Thompson in the Finals). Tony Allen may have an Old Man Game, but it’s an important game.
Bruce Bowen, a similar player, competed in the NBA until he was 38. Allen should at least match that. When the season came to an end, Allen expressed his desire to return to Memphis.
8. Patrick Patterson
Patterson, a stretch forward out of Kentucky who feels like he’s been in the league forever, just recently turned 28.
He has been a key piece on the Raptors’ playoff teams of the past four years, but Toronto appears to be headed for a mini-rebuild — what else can you do when you’re so far from overtaking Cleveland? — and Patterson may depart with this era of North basketball. Patterson has expressed interest in returning to Toronto, but the team’s hands are tied because Kyle Lowry and Serge Ibaka are also free agents.
Patterson is the consummate example of a guy who doesn’t put up big stats, but simply finds ways to make his team better — the “glue guy.” He’s a good shooter, facilitator, and defender; he gets the ball moving on the offensive end and defensively, at an athletic and strong 6-foot-0, 235, he can switch on a wide range of players.
He’s played a consistent 24 minutes per game throughout his career, and has always hovered around 8 points and 5 rebounds per game. He’s been one of the more valuable bench players in the East over the past few years.
He’s also beloved in Toronto. It’s one of those special athlete-city relationships that unfortunately looks like it’s headed for its conclusion.
7. Ian Clark
Clark signed a 1-year, $1 million deal with Golden State last offseason. He was still a project at that point. Now he’s a verified solid backup point guard.
It’s unlikely Clark will want to leave the Warriors, where he has fit in well and been privy to a lot of winning, but they may have a tough time keeping him around. Clark had a career year, scoring 6.8 points per game as an energy guy off the bench.
He may be lured elsewhere by the promise of more money (he’s made less than $3 million in his career) and a bigger role. He knows Curry, who’s only three years older than him, will be the lead dog at the point for Golden State’s foreseeable future.
There are a lot of good point guards available in free agency this year — Kyle Lowry, George Hill, Jrue Holiday, and maybe even Chris Paul. Clark is probably not a starter, but the 26-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Belmont will garner significant interest from teams looking for lower-tier, more affordable help at the 1 spot.
6. Tyreke Evans
Evans is a head-scratching case study. The Memphis product, who was a one-and-done in 2008-09, is super talented, but he hasn’t lived up to expectations. Still, it feels like the former No. 4 pick is just searching for the right situation. His best season was his first, when he averaged 20.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Evans was sent back to Sacramento, his original NBA home, as part of the DeMarcus Cousins trade in February (Sacramento received Evans, Buddy Hield, Langston Galloway, and 2017 first- and second-round picks in exchange for Boogie and Omri Casspi, a trade that looks much more favorable for Sacramento now than it did at the time).
Evans has developed an improved three-point shot, and though his scoring numbers have dipped (he averaged 11.6 points per game this year), he remains an adept scorer and creator. He’s shifty in the paint, a good finisher, and capable of exploding for 30 on a random night. Though there are some parallels between Evans and Lance Stephenson, it wouldn’t be fair at this point to make that comparison; Evans is a better player, and he may still have some untapped potential.
Evans, 27, is poor on defense and has a history of injuries, so teams should approach signing him with caution, but it might be worth the risk to see if he finds a career resurgence a la Shaun Livingston.
5. Zach Randolph
Z-Bo will turn 36 in July. He’s no longer a dominant force in the paint, but Randolph’s abilities haven’t dipped too much; he can still get buckets in the post.
The former Spartan’s Player Efficiency Rating this year was 18.5, not all that far off from his 19.4 career average. He averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds in only 24.5 minutes per game. He still boxes out well and has that nice lefty 20-footer. He may need to take a decreased role, but at this point he has earned $140 million in his career — the 14-year veteran might be willing to step out of the spotlight in order to pursue a championship.
The Grizzlies may try to keep him around — it’s difficult to imagine that team without Gasol and Randolph bruising together in the post — but they may need to choose between Z-Bo and 26-year-old forward JaMychal Green. Green had a breakout season, and it’s likelier that he’ll end up back in Memphis and Randolph will suit up for a new team.
4. Taj Gibson
Gibson was the best player in the Thunder-Bulls deal earlier this season, which sent Gibson, Doug McDermott, and a second-round pick to Oklahoma City in exchange for Joffrey Lauvergne, Anthony Morrow, and Cameron Payne. Gibson wasn’t a perfect fit in OKC — it can take time for big men to find their place in a Westbrook-run offense — and he’ll turn 32 this offseason, but he’ll still receive quite a bit of interest.
He’s a voracious competitor, rebounder, and defender. Gibson, a former first-round pick out of USC, was one of the Bulls’ key pieces on their playoff teams of the 2010s. In 2013-14, he finished second in Sixth Man of the Year voting (Jamal Crawford won the award). This season he averaged 9.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
He’ll be one of the best big men on the market. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Golden State, which favors agile big men who can grab boards, made a run at Gibson.
3. Rudy Gay
Ahh, Rudy Gay. One of the more talented wings since he entered the league from UConn as the eighth overall pick in 2006, Gay is an enigma. He’s always been an “Almost All-Star,” but never gotten over the hump.
He has toiled away in Sacramento for the last four years, but continues to put up good offensive numbers on a bad team; he averaged 18.7 points and 6.3 rebounds this season.
Though Gay has not become a superstar as some people expected during his early years with Memphis, he’s a consistent scoring threat. Because he’s coming off of a serious injury (he ruptured his Achilles’ tendon in January and missed the rest of the season), a team might be able to land Gay at a decent price.
Whether he wants to cash in with another bad team, where he would be the first or second option, or take less money to join a contender remains to be seen.
2. J.J. Redick
As the NBA has become more three-happy, Redick’s value has increased. His game has developed quite a bit, too, throughout the course of his career.
The former NCAA Player of the Year (2006) from Duke was a vital piece for the Clippers the past four years. This season, he scored 15.0 points per game and shot 43 percent from deep — sixth-best in the NBA. He’s an underrated defender. Needless to say, having a three-and-D guy who shoots that well is a major asset in today’s game.
Redick really knows his role; he’s refreshingly self-aware.
He’s no longer in his prime, but Redick should still have a couple good years left in the tank. He’s also a well-liked locker-room guy. As we saw with Golden State this season, a team’s culture is perhaps just as important as the talent of its roster.
1. Danilo Gallinari
Gallinari has been overlooked throughout his career in New York and Denver, but teams will fight for the Italian big man’s services this offseason. The 6-foot-10 forward, the sixth-overall pick in 2008 (he went immediately after the UCLA teammates Russell Westbrook and Kevin Love), shot 39 percent from three and put up 18.2 points per game this year.
He’s a 90 percent free-throw shooter, too, and in recent years he’s improved at drawing fouls. Perhaps most importantly, he stayed healthy. Gallinari has battled a number of injuries, including an ACL tear, throughout his career.
The Nuggets finished only one game out of the West’s No. 8 spot, and Gallinari was a big reason for that. All indications are that Gallinari is in the best years of his career.
He isn’t a max player, but Gallinari has a lot to offer, and there will be teams lined up to recruit him. He should command roughly $20 million a year and even has shown an interest in returning to Denver.
The players on this list won’t turn heads this offseason like Gordon Hayward, Blake Griffin, or Chris Paul, but they could turn the tide of a playoff series. Others to keep an eye on: Greg Monroe, Jeff Teague, P.J. Tucker, James Johnson, Nene, Thabo Sefolosha, Jeff Green, Darren Collison, and Gerald Green.
Basketball nerds, rejoice: NBA free agency officially commences July 6. Free agents can begin reaching verbal agreements with teams July 1.

Big guns return
COLLINGWOOD has picked Ben Reid for the first time in 2017 for Saturday’s JLT Community Series clash with Richmond at Moe.
The All Australian carried a posterior cruciate ligament for most of last season before having surgery and his return will add plenty to the Magpie backline.
Tim Broomhead will play his first game for the Pies since last May, while they have named ruckman Brodie Grundy despite the corked calf he suffered at training during the week.
Josh Smith has also been named despite an ankle injury.
Richmond defender Bachar Houli will step out for the first time this year. The long-kicking Houli has overcome a hamstring in time to get some much-needed match practice ahead of the season opener against Carlton in a fortnight.
Dion Prestia and Shane Edwards also return to the side after being rested last week, while the Tigers squad also includes youngsters Jayden Short, Connor Menadue, Mabior Chol, Tyson Stengle and Ivan Soldo. Among those to miss include Corey Ellis and Kane Lambert.
Adelaide has regained goalkickers Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins and Mitch McGovern for the game against the Brisbane Lions at Noarlunga on Saturday.
Betts and Jenkins were rested last week, while McGovern was nursing a minor knee injury. Dean Gore (concussion) will miss.
The Brisbane Lions have lost one gun first-year player with No.3 draft pick Hugh McCluggage sidelined for a month with an ankle injury, but have replaced him with his TAC Cup teammate, No.24 pick Cedric Cox, a skilful and versatile half-back. Otherwise the Lions have picked a strong-looking side.
Port Adelaide star Chad Wingard will be rested from Sunday’s hit-out against Hawthorn at Noarlunga. Brad Ebert, Aaron Young, Jake Neade, Brendon Ah Chee and Matt White are among inclusions.
Hawthorn will leave Luke Hodge and Josh Gibson behind, but have brought back Isaac Smith, Paul Puopolo, Shaun Burgoyne, Grant Birchall and Ben McEvoy.
Former Adelaide defender Ricky Henderson is set for his first game in the brown and gold, while the club’s first pick at last year’s national draft, Harry Morrison and powerful Irish recruit Conor Nash are also in the squad.
Geelong regains veteran defender Andrew Mackie for Sunday’s clash with Essendon at Bendigo. Joining him for the trip to skipper Joel Selwood’s home town is defender Cam Guthrie, who has overcome a calf complaint. Lincoln McCarthy has been named for now despite a shoulder injury last weekend.
Essendon has picked its strongest squad of the pre-season, with Zach Merrett, David Zaharakis, Mark Baguley, Orazio Fantasia, Dyson Heppell, Patrick Ambrose, James Kelly and Matt Dea all back in.
Josh Green (foot) and Jordan Ridley (back) are out, while Mason Redman, Dylan Clarke, Jake Long, Heath Hocking and Conor McKenna have missed selection.
The Sydney squad for Sunday’s clash with St Kilda at Lavington features youngsters Oliver Florent, Will Hayward, Robbie Fox and Darcy Cameron, who may be given one last chance to impress before the season opener in 16 days against Port Adelaide.
New St Kilda skipper Jarryn Geary returns, as do Nick Riewoldt, and defenders Dylan Roberton and Sam Gilbert. The Saints have included both ruckmen Tom Hickey and Billy Longer, but it could be a battle for round one selection with coach Alan Richardson yet to declare whether he can carry both players in his best 22.
The final weekend of the JLT Community Series restricts each club to six players on the bench while interchange rotations are monitored for the first time.
