She is an imortal space pirate. She's dating the spaceship (who's name is Aurora). She has mercury for blood. She has forced the mechanisms to go do quests because Aurora was sad. She has the most autistic swag of any charcter I have ever seen.

5 favourite films you watched in 2020:

This is a compilation has no particular order, but I did love them all. 

The Theory of Everything - I was a bit late to the party, but this movie was something special 

The Gentlemen - this movie has it all, a great piece of entertainment 

What Happened, Miss Simone? - such a powerful piece

Age of Adaline - I adore everything about this movie, even with many medical inaccuracies 

Happiest Season - because who doesn’t love a lesbian Christmas movie after the hardest year to date

5 favourite tv shows you watched in 2020:

This year tv shows were the main coping mechanism and I’m not even sorry about it. 

Killing Eve - do I need to say more? 

Haunting of Bly Manor -  Dani and Jamie are the blueprint, I love them with my whole heart 

Dead to me - this was my comfort show for the majority of 2020 

The Playbook: Coach’s rules for life - related to the subject of my studies, really helped me to come up with my own coaching philosophy 

Grey’s Anatomy - yes, really, I rewatched the whole thing 2 times this year 

5 favourite songs you listened to in 2020:

Spotlight by Jessie Ware - this songs takes me to another dimension, I love the ambience, it was also a song my friends called the ultimate aesthetic of mine

III by Foster The People - it’s one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life, my heart belongs to that song

Sao Paolo by Lapti - the ultimate song for chilling, road trips, cooking and everything in between

Dog Years by Maggie Rogers - personal favourite for the 2nd year in a row, if I would ever describe my attachment style or love languages I would use this song 

seven by Taylor Swift - it was a song that made me realise certain childhood behaviours, it always makes me tear up and it is special, will always be 

Top 5 albums of 2020:

What’s your pleasure? by Jessie Ware - she has always been my favourite, and this album is truly something else. Best record of 2020, no doubt about it 

- Ugh, those feels again by Snoh Alegra - she’s been my biggest discovery of 2020 and I’m so happy I found her 

Fine Line by Harry Styles - he is my sweetheart, this album was definitely one of my most listened 

The S(EX) Tapes by FLETCHER - a queer breakup album? It’s everything I never knew I needed 

Iridescent by Ayoni - such a wonderful vibe, 10/10 

Top 5 books you read in 2020:

2020 was definitely not a reading year for me and I can openly admit it, although there were some pieces I will treasure for a long time 

The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus - I love this man’s writing, it has been a favourite for a long time, but I kept coming back to this one to find the meaning for all that has happened 

The Rebel by Albert Camus - yes. another one from him. just because. 

Becoming by Michelle Obama - this is a Michelle Obama stan Tumblr 

The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth - being gay and coming from a Catholic background made this read a hard one, but worth it 

The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt - Donna Tartt, that is all. 

How did you spend your birthday this year?

I spent it with my best friend, we went hiking, we had tacos & margaritas. It was a nice relief and an escape from the pandemic reality. It felt great. I also had a small family celebration later that weekend. 

What was your most memorable day this year?

Getting into the sports coaching school. I came home from the office I had an internship, I was tired, I was in a crisis//survival mode, I was tired of business, of who I was. My life had little to no meaning anymore. I was a robot, I thought the world has very little to offer. Then I suddenly got an e-mail I got in. The entire world turned upside down. I am happier, I glow here, I belong here. It makes me cry having to think about it. It was the biggest blessing of 2020, hands down. 

What was your most memorable meal you had this year?

There were many, but I think the most memorable and meaningful one was when my best friend baked a Ukrainian cheesecake and embraced her heritage. Also, making hummus with my new flatmates after moving to the dorm was a big one. Also, shakshuka became my comfort meal of the year. 

Did you find any new hobbies or interests in quarantine?

Quite some, yes! I started paining again, I became a plant mom and a gardening expert, I grew my own cucumbers and tomatoes. I started baking again and make aesthetic moodboards on Pinterest getting pretty big following!  It’s one of my favourite spare time activities now!

What was the last big event/thing you remember doing BC (before covid)?

Going clubbing with my friends, I miss going out and dancing my heart out. 

5 good/positive things that happened to you in 2020:

Getting into my dream school!!!! I will be a sports performance coach, it still feels like an actual dream 

Going to therapy and dealing with personal problems, it was one of the best decision of my life 

Coming out to myself and living my truth

Losing the feeling of having to prove things to people

Learning that I can’t control everything and that it is okay. Life goes on. And it gets better.

Biggest messages or lessons learnt from this year?

Life can change within seconds, everything flows and goes, it in constant movements. Your inner critic lies, it will be okay and you will find yourself, find your heart. Love is loud. Love is beautiful, love makes the world go round. Growth is hard, overwhelmingly hard, but it is so so so so worth it. Magic happens everyday. Your gut knows, trust it. Protecting your peace is crucial for your sanity. 

And what are you most looking forward to in 2021?

Living, simple as that. For me 2021 will be the year of presence - wherever I’ll be, I will be fully there.

Batwoman Review 1x1 

Ruby Rose stars as Kate Kane who after years abroad returns to Gotham where Batman hasn’t been seen for years. The citizens of Gotham have placed their trust in a private security group called The Crows run by her Kate’s father Jacob Kane (Dougary Scott). During a public even where the mayor and other officials plan to shut off the Bat signal for good a mysterious woman calling herself Alice disrupts the event and kidnaps a Crow agent Sophie Moore (Megan Tandy). Sophie also happens to be Kate’s ex from the military academy, where she was kicked out for being a lesbian. Sophie also caught with Kate chose to renounce her lesbianism and stay with the academy leading to their breakup. In hopes of finding Sophie, Kate dawns her cousin Bruce Wayne’s Batman suit to find and rescue her. 

As far as CW/DC shows goes this is the worst pilot by far I have ever seen by their own show standards. Everything feels so cheap, from the poorly filmed flashback to the lack of attention to detail, like the opening scene starts off with Kate breaking the ice covering a lake from which she was trapped under, yet you can not see her breath from the cold, it’s like they didn’t care and the entire scene feels empty like it was all done in green screen. She was trapped under the ice as part of her intense “training” by an unnamed Native American/Inuit man who barely says 10 words to her before never being mentioned again. 

Which is used to explain how she can beat up an entire group of thugs without breaking a sweat. And what is truly sad about the fight scenes is that they have no weight, it’s almost cartoony without the humor. She is smashed in the face with a wooden paddle, tossed into cement blocks, hit up against walls and all the injuries we ever see her sustained is a cut on the arm.

Not even a bruise...even Oliver Queen from Arrow gets bruised like, it happens on other CW/DC shows, Batwoman isn’t invincible she’s human and she should get hurt. It’s not that I want to see her bruised or fail, it’s just that she was knocked out twice, but the show still tries to play it up like she a Batman level badass, which I don’t buy. 

But even if all the action and the details weren’t there I could see the show getting better if there was any characterization. Who is Kate? Why is she continuing to be Batwoman, it’s honestly feels like she was bored, there seems to be motivation behind why she is going to this extreme. Every other CW pilot gets that right, Arrow: “I want to take back the corruption that has taken over my city”, Flash:” I want to stop metahumans who might harm others”, Black Lighting: “It’s time for Black Lighting to come back stop the rampant crime in Freeland caused by the biggest gang The 100”, Legends of Tomorrow: “We have no real impact on the timeline so were the only ones who can stop those who try to interfere in the timeline”. What is her tagline? “I found my cousin’s Batsuit so I used it and his tech to save my kidnapped ex girlfriend and I continued being Batwoman because I have nothing else going on”. This is from the IMDB page

And I have no idea which show that synopsis is supposed to be more, she never says or does anything that could be considered social justice-y, and what inner demons does she have, her mother and sister being killed in an accident isn’t a demon it’s trauma. I don’t understand her motivation.

Other characters like Luke Fox are roped into helping Kate for absolutely no reason at all. They could have at least given him a line as to why he’s just helping her and allowing her to remain in the “batcave” writing her memoirs and taking up the mantle. The way Kate just takes, I mean ‘borrow’ all of Bruce’s supplies, makes her look incompetent.

There is also another problem this show has is it’s surrounding cast of characters, Gotham is filled with supporting characters of Batman who I assumed with be all ignored, so is it really even Gotham. We don’t know why Batman has been gone for three years, we don’t know why the entire Wayne company has also shut down apparently no one cares that Bruce Wayne has also gone missing. Not even his own extended family. Bruce is either dead, coma, severe amnesia, brainwashed, or in a permanent vegetative state there are no other options.

The majority of the actors on this show are typical CW fine acting, Dougary Scott who plays Kate’s father is a standout. Sadly the three main female leads, Ruby Rose(Kate Kane), Rachel Skarsten(Alice) and Megan Tandy(Sophie Moore) are all terrible. Rose’s idea of acting is furrowing her brow and there is a hollowness in more emotional scenes. Her voice over is so bad I really hope that the next director gives her more pointers to make is sound less like a robot. Rachel Skarsten is trying but doesn’t have the skill or charm to pull off this “crazy’ sing-song type of villain. Tandy is expressionless and detached she has the same expression in every scene. And her kissing scene with Ruby looks painful, I don’t know if she’s a bad actress or if she was uncomfortable. 

If there was anything good in the show it was the single scene where Kate’s step sister Mary Hamilton (Nicole Kang) is treating her wound at the clinic, she’s actually charming and Rose’s stilted acting is less noticeable. I also liked that movie the park was Zorro and there where two children running around his Zorro mask, it was cute. 

The saddest thing about this is that it feels like no one cared, there is no interesting take, direction, moment, or anything to feel like it had a passion behind it. Most people will only give the first episode a chance and will completely dismiss the character and show. This is the one shot they had to wow people and it didn’t do anything with it. Not good, there’s only potential in it if they make some drastic changes.

Shes just <33 you have to be a girl that gets it to get it but Moira is literally The science lesbian, she's extremely committed to her work to the point where she doesn't care about ethics or morals, she has sexual tension with every single female character in the game and she canonically can like give people powers and gave herself abilities that's how powerful she is!
