ive been slowly but surely getting into ntu and im soooo fond of it. plotted crossover games are such a sweetspot for me i agree (voice of a guy w a heavy interest in cartoon networks fusionfall as well) but your love of daggart makes me more interested in including angry beavers in my ntu vision also so i agree completely <- delighted

Re: last reblog, I know I and others have talked about how the AotT and First Age Sindar are not a monolith: there are three separate Sindarin linguistic groups and multiple cultures/subcultures. But that post reminded me that there have to be multiple First Age Noldorin cultures - or rather, Noldorin-Sindarin cultures, since the Noldor and Northern Sindar because one group during the First Age, more or less. (Interestingly, their Sindarin dialect, along with that of Doriath’s, died out after the First Age - their speakers mostly died or sailed lol - and the dialect spoken by the High Elves of the West was based on the language of the Falas, Cirdan’s people.)

I’d think the most divergent of those Noldorin/Sindarin cultures would be in Gondolin, the hidden city most closed off from the outside world. We know it’s linguistically unique, a city where Quenya is spoken openly alongside Sindarin and that a creole of the two developed, and likely some code-switching. And then the city’s refugees went to the most multi-cultural settlement we know of in Arda, where Elves from the Falas and Gondolin and Doriath living alongside humans of various origins and from various places. (And more than just those peoples - there were Nargothrond refugees that fled to Doriath and some of them may have survived the Second Kinslaying and fled to Sirion after, and I have to think that assorted other individuals and small groups made it there too.)

(Incidentally, I am quite certain that (Gondolin) Quenya was spoken in Sirion and that Thingol’s Ban was not in effect - Elwing of Doriath’s husband went by his Quenya name and named his ship after her in Quenya.)

Anyways, Beleriand was a multi-cultural place, the Noldor were not a monolith, and things changed further in the Second and Third Ages.
