Heartbeat
Mountain's Peak (Part 1) - Nepal Sanctum (Part 2) - Talk it out (Part 3) - The Fight (Part 4)
Here's hoping this is the last bit of Delinquent Zenyatta we'll be seeing for a while!! Thank you for reading!!
In which the heart is moved
Zenyatta had never understood the term "his heart sank". The human heart is a very vital organ that rhythmically pumps oxygen rich blood throughout the human body. It does not "sink", any movement from it's cadge in the chest would be catastrophic for the human in question.
He'd never understood.
A minor concussion, major whiplash, two broken ribs, three more cracked, a dislocated shoulder, a minor wrist fracture, a twisted ankle, and mild frost bite.
That was Emile's diagnosis.
Zenyatta stared passed Mondatta into the human's room, warmth rushing out from the lit fireplace. Emile lay unconscious on a makeshift bed he'd been using now for 3 months, just a pile of hay for a mattress and spare robes for blankets on the stone flooring of Mondatta's home.
"Zenyatta." Master Mondatta's voice brought Zen back from his thoughts. He stared up at his brother who stood before him and the resting human.
"Is-"
"He will be alright." Mondatta assured, "Sister Reya has tended to him the best she can, now he must rest."
Zenyatta gave another glance to the human, Emile, small as he was, bruised black and blue. He looked like a corpse. The grip Zenyatta had on Emile's broken glasses tightened.
"Emile tells me the two of you were sparring," Zenyatta flinched, and prepared for the worse. Exile, he assumed, forced out the monastery and onto the human filled streets of the outside world. He would need to sneak away in the dead of night, or Ramattra would surely follow him. "when he slipped and fell down the stairs."
That.. confused Zenyatta. That was not what had happened at all, had it? They had sparred, Zenyatta had laid his hand upon Emile until he could stand no longer.. correct...? Why would the human... lie..?
"Is this true, Brother Zenyatta?" Mondatta asked genuinely. He believed the human's words, or at least was willing to believe them if this was the truth he was willing to bare with.
Zenyatta hesitated, the glasses in his hand made a faint crunch as what little remained of the lenses fell out.
"...no.. Master Mondatta... That is.. Not what happened.."
"I see," Mondatta cupped Zenyatta's shaking hands in his own, leaning down ever so slightly to be on level with his shorter brother, "Perhaps you can tell me the truth of the events over tea?"
It was warm.. so warm... A soft chime played in the left corner, soft and mournful, a lullaby for someone no longer here..
Emile's eyes cracked open to see the now familiar blurry ceiling of his bedroom in Master Mondatta's home, the soft crackle of the fire by his feet much louder than is usually once when he'd first wake up.
Emile turned to reach for his glasses, which he'd always rested on his left side. His entire body ached at the motion, which turned out to be fruitless as his hand came to find nothing.
"Looking for these?" A voice asked, a metallic hand out stretched and slid Emile's glasses onto his face, "You have impeccable timing as always, human, I just finished repairing them."
"Zenyatta...?" Emile's eyes widened behind his cracked glasses, the Omnic in question sat in a meditative position in the opposite corner of the small room. He couldn't believe his eyes at first, assuming it some sort of dream that the monk who'd hated him most of all would pay him a visit during recovery.
Zenyatta wordlessly assisted Emile as he raised himself off the ground, leaning him against the back wall of the room, as the human racked over possible reasons Zenyatta would have to visit him.
Emile's eyes filled with tears as he came to his conclusion. He'd lost. He challenged Zenyatta and lost and had to fulfill what he'd promised to do. He had to leave.
Tears flowed down the human's face, which wasn't unusual for this particular human, but was still rather startling, "Wh-why are you crying? Are you in pain?"
Zenyatta started to get up to go get Master Mondatta when Emile responded, "I-I'm sorry- I-I said I'd leave when I lost bu-but- I-I can barely sit u-up right now-" He hiccuped and rubbed at his eyes with his one good arm, "I-I'll leave, li-like I said, as soon as I can sta-and I promise,"
Zenyatta suddenly understood the term "his heart sank"
Zenyatta grabbed the human's cheeks, they were so hot, wet with heavy tears, soft and round and so very human.
"You won."
"I- h-huh..?"
"I... Forfeited. Just before you passed out. I lost. You won." His thumb ran gently against the under side of the human's eye, brushing away another tear before it fell, "so.. no more tears.. you may stay.."
Emile breath hitched, his entire body was shaking, the news hadn't sunk in yet. He reached to put his hand on Zenyatta's, only to flinch in hesitation just as his skin brushed Zenyatta's arm. "I-I- I'm sorry-"
"It is alright." Zenyatta kept his hands firm, pushing the human's cheeks together slightly with his force, "You will not hurt me..."
Emile gripped onto Zenyatta and sobbed into his chest. More tears, wet and salty and thick drained from the human's eyes. He was so warm. Had humans always been this warm? Zenyatta wrapped his arms around Emile and held him securely to himself.
"Did you know," Emile spoke as he wove red thread together on his lap, "You make a little chime tune when you meditate?"
Zenyatta looked up from his own work, a basket, and tilted his head, "A tune? Surely I would hear it if I did."
"That's what I thought too!" Emile shifted to turn to face Zenyatta, letting his legs hang over the edge of his bed, "But I caught Master Mondatta doing it the other day and asked him about it, and he had no clue what I was talking about!"
"So.. What, we make music only humans can hear while we meditate? That seems unlikely. Perhaps there is something loose in your head Reya did not pick up on the first time."
Zenyatta stood from his seated position on the floor and cupped Emile's face, rattling his head gently to emphasis his point.
Emile laughed, placing his hands over Zenyatta's, his left wrist still tightly bandaged from their spar three weeks ago. He'd been recovering well, both of them had.
"I'm serious! When we all get together for Meditation in the evening it's like a symphony! I can't believe you don't notice."
"Perhaps because I am busy meditating," Zenyatta pinched and pulled at Emile's cheek, "unlike some little human I know~"
"Oooow!! I meditate!!" Emile pushed at Zenyatta's head in a weak attempt of prying the Omnic off him. Instead Zenyatta doubled down and pinched the other cheek, pulling them both.
"Ah yes now I know the 'Chime' you are talking about, you do it too. It's called snoring."
"Aaaaaaaugh Uncle!! Uncle I tap!! I give!!!" Emile flailed until Zenyatta finally released him with a chuckle.
His laugh made Emile's heart soar and a flush rise to his cheeks, which were already red from Zenyatta's previous assault.
"Brother Zenyatta." Mondatta's voice came with a light knock to Emile's door frame, "You are playing nice with Brother Emile, yes? He is still in recovery you know."
Zenyatta flinched and spun to face Mondatta, plopping himself on the bed next to Emile before wrapping his arm around him, "Yes yes! Gentle as ever, Master!" He waved his hands as a show of innocence.
Mondatta gave a glance over the scene, before picking up Zenyatta's discarded half finished wicker basket with a soft hum. "Good then, though I hope all this playing is not getting in the way of your chores." He extended the basket to Zenyatta, who too it sheepishly.
"My apologizes, Master Mondatta.." Zenyatta held back from pinching Emile's squishy cheeks once more upon hearing the human giggle at his scolding.
Mondatta found himself admiring the quickly closing gap between his siblings. How fast they'd gone from hatred glances to sitting hip to hip. He still wasn't sure how they'd come to this, but he was happy non the less.
With a hum Mondatta motioned for the two to come stand, "Well then, if you two are ready, Ramattra is already outside awaiting us to head to evening meditation."
Zenyatta stood quickly and started to pull Emile up with him, but the human waved him off, "Go on ahead of me, I'll catch up."
Despite the quick relations Emile had formed with Zenyatta, he could tell Ramattra was still holding a distance, one he attempted to cover with a high voice and faked laughs. As much as he enjoyed Zenyatta's company, he wanted to give the monk time with Ramattra as well.
"Are you certain?" Zenyatta asked, "It's no trouble."
"I know. I'm fine, go on."
Zenyatta hesitated for a moment longer, then nodded and quickly was out of the room.
Mondatta watched his brother go before offering his arm to Emile, which the human took and pulled himself from the bed on wobbly legs. His ankle was still wrapped and stung when he'd put his weight on to it, and his chest still ached when he breathed too deeply, making meditation rather exhausting, and his wrist still occasionally seized in pain. All part of the healing process.
Still, Mondatta noticed the way his student would flinch upon stepping, or when he'd grab something with his left hand without thinking. He hated to see his siblings in pain...
Emile smiled up at Mondatta, "Shall we get going? Wouldn't want to be late."
Mondatta looked over his student once more, cheeks flushed red, glasses broken, old bruises littering his exposed skin turning green and yellow, wrapped in patchy bandaging. He wondered to himself if it was right to allow him to stay..
And then he remembered the laughing he'd heard from down the hall, a mix of human and omnic, joyfully playing together with nary a care in the world
Mondatta pulled Emile's robe up snugger on his shoulder, adjusting his clothes for a moment to be sure they kept him warm. He belonged here, same as all of Mondatta's other siblings, because he too was in tune with the iris.
"...Perhaps you should put on a few more layers first"

A SPRINKLE OF CURIOSITY
a/n: part two to âmade with loveâ.
word count: 1859
toji x reader
tags/warning: angst, fluff
find part one here: made with love
toji wakes up with a pounding headache, like always. he really doesnât want to get up but he knows he has to. rubbing his bleary eyes, he can faintly make out what room he is in. not his.
he can tell by the cleaner walls, the faint scent of something floral and a woman he doesnât even remember the name of passed out to his right. from the view of her bare back on display, he can piece together that he had maybe a little too much to drink last night.
toji never stays long enough for them to wake up, so like routine, he finds his scattered pieces of clothing, putting them back on. it feels uncomfortable, dried semen making the boxers feel a little too tight. and like the stealthy man he is, he slips out the bedroom and apartment without much noise.
he doesn't even remember what city he's in, but he can only assume it's not close. having picked up a small job shiu assigned to him yesterday in the hokkaido prefecture, he hasn't been in the comfort of his own place for a couple days now.
he slowly walked to the nearest ATM, pulling out his card to check his balance. and would you look at that? still 0. now heâs pissed. heâs stranded in some city he doesnât know with no money to get back and the job he was there for in the first place didnât even pay him. those motherfuckers.
he huffs and pulls out his phone, calling his handler's number. without even waiting, as soon as he picks up, toji is quick to express his annoyance. "where's my damn deposit?"
shiu's tired chuckle sounds through the receiver. "relax, it's a weekend. won't come in until tomorrow."
of course. "then how the hell am i supposed to get back?"
"like you have a home?"
toji's eye twitches, grip tightening around the small cellular device. "keep talking, i'll rip that tongue out your mouth."
with a sigh, the other man responds. "jesus christ, you can't go one day without bitching. i left some cash in your pocket."
"how much?" toji's hand feels for the money, reaching in to grab it out and count it, balancing the phone between his shoulder and ear. "is this enough for a train ticket?"
"if you didn't use it already, then yeah."
and another huff before toji closes the screen of his phone, effectively ending the call.
so this was basically the lead up to where toji currently finds himself. after hours of a stiff chair that hurt his ass, stiff air, and the smell of elderly all around him, he practically throws himself into his small, run-down apartment and onto the mattress. there's no bed frame, hell there's barely anything inside, but it's enough for him. the tiny sheet crumples underneath his large form as he gets comfy, a small sigh escaping him.
everything is just as he left it, dishes in the sink, an old takeout box and the counter and the TV playing some who knows what show. damn it, was that on the whole time he was gone? now his bill will be even higher. there's never a moment of peace with toji, even after days and days of where he honestly deserves it.
his eye peak open, hand reaching for the remote to shut the TV off. just as the screen blanks, something instantly catches his attention. one that makes him sit up, despite his fatigue. it looks so out of place, like it doesn't belong. and quite frankly, it doesn't.
the pink box is vibrant against the cold surface of his kitchen counter, standing out like it directly has a light shone on it. it's almost taunting him, enticing him to come closer. and toji has never been one to show a lot of self-restraint. when it comes to you though, he didn't think he could try harder.
but he finds himself standing up and walking to the box. the heart drawn on top causes an eyebrow to raise as he opens it. there's nothing inside. after having got home from the encounter with you, he was hesitant to bite into the first cookie. but he's glad that he did. they tasted better than any other sweet he had tasted. the powder littered his lips and the soft jelly exploded into his mouth like fireworks. before he knew it, all five treats were gone in the matter of minutes.
but the box is still here for some reason. why he kept it and now threw it out as soon as he finished is questionable, but toji chalks it up to being lazy. because why else would he keep it? he sighs and closes the box again.
he falls back onto the mattress, eyes glued to the ceiling that has cracks and some mold growing. he really needs to move out. that thought is quickly thrown out when something else invades his brain. you.
your voice, your face, your stupid smile, and the words you told him. "love." the oh so holy pastries were made with your love. you were obviously joking, but an idiotic part of his mind entertains the idea that you weren't.
his head shakes. what are you doing? why is he acting this way about you? he barely knows you, you just own the bakery he knows. you're nothing more than a simple person who has no business getting involved with him. no, he has no business getting involved with you.
you're too kind, too sweet for him. he can't even see himself with another woman right now, not after his wife. at least, that's what he thinks. either way, there's no way someone like you would be interested in him. you probably have a loving family, a loving boyfriend. all in all, you have something going for you. you have things to lose. he doesn't. oh and of course, the main part of it all,
you're a complete normie.
you probably don't even know about curses, let alone sorcerers. you're probably one of those people who blame it on life's obstacles, the unwarranted negativity. but maybe you're just so damn positive all the time that you do literally the opposite of attracting curses. curses are formed from negative emotions, and you don't seem like you have those. that's what he thinks.
you see, toji has a very bad habit of assuming things. he's here having this entire dilemma on the kind of person you are when he knows jack shit about you. that's wrong, he knows. but toji....toji does a lot of wrong things. a very shitty justification, but toji is a shitty person.
would you think so too?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ââ
it's been about a week, give or take, since he last saw you. but no matter where he goes or who he's killing, it's like the simplest things remind him of you. this is unhealthy, honestly. growing attached way too quick and way too easily, he has a lot of things to fix up on.
pink reminds him of you. puppies remind him of you. rainbows remind him of you. sweets remind him of you. and the sun reminds him of you.
so as you can see, you're everywhere he goes. following him when he wants nothing more than to get away. you must be a witch.
he just wants to gouge his own eyes out at this point, anything will save him from the restraints of adoring someone. he likes to think he's strong. wait no, he knows he's strong. but for some reason, you make him weak. and toji hates being weak. he confronts those who try to make him seem like he's anything but the terrifying killer he is and makes them beg for mercy.
which is why, he's currently back in the god forsaken place that started it all.
and what are you doing? greeting him like he's an old friend, like you've known each other for years. it makes him sick.
"you're back." you say, almost sounding relieved. do you always greet customers like this? or is it just him? "did you like my love?"
he wishes you would just stop referring to your treats as your damn love, it makes him want to hate you even more. "yeah." is all he says, a small scowl present with his arms crossed over his chest.
"tooooold you." you chuckle.
he wants to scoff at your cockiness, at your playfulness. can you just stop being so damn cute? silence follows as he stares you down, but you don't look the slightest bit bothered by it. why aren't you? do you think you're better than him?
"i'm assuming you came back for more." he didn't, but you're already completing the same routine as last time, picking a box and filling it. "we have some new ones this week, so i'll give you some of those. unless you really liked the ones from last time, we still have the custard ones, so i can give you that to--"
"what's your name?" he cuts you off, firmly.
you momentarily still, eyes flicking back up to his over the counter, he's still looking at you. as you stand back to your full height, you're slightly confused. however, you tell him. "y/n."
he knows he's in deep shit when just your name gives him butterflies. and hearing you say it? he just wants to grab you from over the counter and kiss you until you can't even rem--
he clears his throat. god, he's too horny.
"y/n what?"
"y/n l/n."
"are you lying?"
you snort a laugh. "who lies about their name?"
you're right, who does do that? "suspicious people."
"am i suspicious?" your head tilts in an frustratingly adorable manner.
no, he thinks. you're anything but. you seem like you wear your heart on your sleeve and you just seriously might be the most genuine person he's met. but then again, he doesn't know you, so this might all be a facade. you might actually be a two-faced bitch. "a little."
you hum softly and nod. with a small look to the ceiling, in thought, you say the most ridiculous thing ever. "well, how about we change that?"
a scoff breaks through. "how?"
and he supposes this entire time, you were filling the box and closing it back with the same sticker and heart from before. "you can get to know me." scratch that, that was the most ridiculous thing he ever heard you say.
"no." is his automatic response.
"why not?"
"i'm not looking for friends."
"we don't have to be friends." you say, sliding the box over to him. "but we can know each other's name at least. and since you already know mine......" you trail off as he gets the hint to what you're saying.
hesitation floods him because you really could be a spy or a fake. telling you his name could be dangerous and what if you try to report him to some authorities or something.
he's overthinking if you couldn't already tell.
but, he's getting older and probably won't have much more time left with what his occupation is. he's taken risks before, so what's one more? and again, you're right. how can he assume you're not really who you say you are if he doesn't find out himself.
so, with a deep exhale, his fingers twitching against his arm, he tells you. "toji fushiguro."

KINDREEED I'M SCAAARED
I WANT TO DO THIS ART THING WHERE MERCH DESIGN FOR JANANI K. JHA (APHRODITEEEEE) BUUUUT I ALSO HAVE A BIG BIG EXTRACURRICULAR FINAL EXAM IN 9 DAYS
9 DAYS
MY PARENTS WON'T LET ME DO IT IF I FAIL
I'VE FORGOTTEN EVERYTHING I'M GOING TO CRYYYYYY
DO YOU HAVE ANY GOOD STUDYING TECHNIQUES???
I FORGOT EVERYTHING-THE TEACHER DIDN'T EXPLAIN IT ALL VERY WELL-AND MY NOTES HAVE VANISHED
-NYX T-T
WOAH OMG OKAY! IM HOLDING UR HAND LETS DO THIS:
i have no idea what it is ur studying (like if its memorisation heavy or practice heavy, history vs maths for example) but i can advise u as follows:
start with bismillah!! u got this inshallah >:D
aight first were going to get ur calendar and study material out and plan: if i understood right ur test is on day 9 so u have 8 to study? (ill go with that just in case u plan according to what u have):-
in those 8 days how much stuff (topics/ chapters) do u need to cover? some parts may be longer/ harder than others and might need extra time, dont forget to take that into account! take bio example; id study a topic a day (one for mitosis, the next for cellular respiration, etc. but if ur tight on time group similar stuff together) and solve questions to help the ideas stick *and* make sure ive gotten everything down; if i forgor something or found a question particularly hard its an indication to go reread and study further that area specifically.
plan realistically and play to your strengths; start with what will be the easiest for you. for example i loved molecular bio (cell stuff) and left ecology till last, but that might be just me lol. anyway you know best what works for u so go for it!!
if u have school atm take a break after getting home to switch between school and studies, keep taking breaks to stay sane (preferrably after milestones), drink plenty of water and dont lose sleep!! very rich coming from me i know lol but u must sleep. or else ill haunt u :3
breaks btw can be getting up to pray, doing a random chore, eating a snack or having a meal with family, regardless i advise getting up and moving to really freshen ur mind! daydreaming also works lol
assuming u have a book/ reference material; id say look at the objectives before every lesson, usually thats what teachers focus on because thems the objectives lol. its a place to start
next, again this depends on what ur studying, but i cant sing enough praises for mind maps & mnemonics. life savers fr:
the idea is to start with the bigger picture; what is this lesson about? what are we learning here? (more bio: if im studying the humble cell i first need to know the kinds of cells, whats in them, how they do what they do. this is ur first mind map thingy: to arrange ur thoughts) and then continue to work your way with the details, seeing if you can come up with words phrases imagery etc to help remember stuff. (so for example making a lil mind map of each organelle and its functions) plenty of stuff exists online too btw!! look for resources and maybe ask classmates if yall have a group or sum. khan academy has saved me many a time back in the day, so did crash course lol. the internet can be a godsend sometimes
now me, kindred, personally, i memorise via writing. if i want anything to stick i keep writing till it does (even quran!), so as i make notes and summarise the way my brain works is that ill start making connections to help me remember stuff bc my memory isnt the best and brute memorisation is a crime. anywya.
literally from todays test: to help me remember the type of mutation (deletion of 1p & 19q) associated with a type of tumor (oligodendroglioma) i make the connection delete and go from oligo. its simple but thats what sticks when im in the exam lol another one i remember form 2 years ago almost is MACE (yk the medieval weapon) is short for a bunch of antibiotics: macrolides = azithro- clarithro- and erythomycin. i forgor everything else about them lmao but the point is this is how i remember stuff. silly little acronyms and mnemonics go a long long way for me
cant stress this enough; make studying enjoyable for urself (yes im serious) try to have a lil milestone sheet or something in mind for finishing topics or days at a time to keep u going and motivated
my gremlin brain needs this or else nothing will get done lol. i doodle on my lecture notes (as yall are all too familiar with lmao) to help get the wiggles out and stay focused, but when im actually done for the day i allow myself a lil research break, teleport to tumblr, microwave the blorbos for a bit etc.
in this case maybe u can plan out the art u want to make; first break plan the art, next one find references, third break make a first draft etc. u know urself and ur habits better than anyone so work with and not against them!!
tl;dr: make a plan -> stick to the plan -> always deliver.
this was significantly funnier in my head aha.
#when i break out the dividers yall can know im serious lmao#theyre so pretty :')#anyhows all the best bbg u got this!!#i have full and complete faith in u đ#lmk if u want specific advice or help or anything im free literally all day today and wasnt too bad at school lol#<- i was the salutatorian *cough*#anyway#inbox shenanigans#feel free to update how things go!!#a phrase thats helped me unironically so much and makes me giggle every time is: as long as the exam isnt tomorrow theres still some time#u have 9 days which planned right inshallah are plenty i hope for studying and revising and having fun also#all da best <3

Oh wow, you're back
Yes! Finally!!!
Tumblr does this thing where if your IP changes too many times in a short period (like if your WiFi keeps kicking you and you go between that and cellular dataâŚ) when youâre posting, they just disappear your blog.
And I knew who to contact to get it back ⌠but this was while I was dealing with a health crisis and I didnât have the brain bandwidth to take those steps. (If your rich housemate, whose family owns the place youâre staying, gaslights you about whether or not the mold in the walls of the house might be making you too sick to leave bed or keep food down, just go live in your car until you find somewhere that isnât a death trap. Donât wait until that same bitch housemate calls the cops to forcibly put you on a 72 hour psych hold because you said you were tired of her shit and didnât want to speak with her anymore).
Anyways. The same shit happened to my fandom blog a couple weeks ago, and since Iâm not actively dying anymore (sort of a plateau in my life/death experience atm) and I was kinda using that blog, I did reach out to get it back.
And when they reinstated it, they gave me this one back, too!! đ
#asks#lol my life is a fucking shit show#the full version of that story is even more messed up than the TLDR makes it sound

Hiii Iâm the a/b/o biology girl. I love that you mentioned female alphas bc in that same fic Nancy was an alpha and Jonathan an omega and all the fic really mentioned was a claiming ceremony where Nancy bit Jonathan along with them not wanting to have kids atm but Iâve always wondered what if they did, would both of them essentially be intersex and thatâs how Nancy would get Jonathan pregnant but besides that the questions I mentioned about the anatomy chart I seen were mostly abt how if the male has a uterus basically behind their sex organs and connected to their rectum could you be able to see that before they ever know theyâre an omega through like an x-ray which would mean you could also somewhat determine whoâs an alphas/beta or would it be a thing that like it magically appears during puberty and if so I was wondering abt the biology behind all that of basically your body growing an entirely new organ/how on a cellular level that would happen and how the endocrine system among other systems must play a role in it those are just my initial thoughts if you have any please tell me so I can ponder over them also like I said before combining real life biology with fantasy is so fun Iâve even thought abt the concept/pregnancy of vampires in twilight and werewolf genetics in teen wolf in order to better understand and pass my biomed class đ
if you ever want to hear my in depth but very likely improbable thoughts on those as well at any point
oh my gosh i ADORE alpha nancy and omega jonathan!!!! the more i learn about this fic the more upset i become that i missed out on it lmfao
for female alphas i always imagined that they are also intersex the way male omegas are but would likely have a harder time getting pregnant compared to male and female omegas, and female betas. so female alphas that are with another female partner or a male omega typically wouldn't be the one to carry the baby - it would probably only happen in cases where they really want to or it's a happy accident. female alphas' biology is essentially hardwired to breed, not get bred so i can definitely see jonathan being the one to carry their pups! especially with how driven nancy is career-wise, it'd make since that jonathan is the biological mother since they have that option
as for the anatomy and how it develops!
i know that there are a lot of authors who write a/b/o sex characteristics in a way so that they manifest over time with later onsets of puberty (usually ages 13-18ish with 18 being a late bloomer) while betas simply never present. and that makes sense if there isn't intersex anatomy in the universe, but i've always preferred it so that male omegas and female alphas are intersex with different secondary sex characteristics (aka alpha versus omega instincts)
i kind of doubt that an entire sex organ would develop outside of the womb (i feel like that would take entirely too much energy from the body), so it's more like some of those hormones are just more dormant for a period of time until the omega or alpha is in their sexual prime (aka when their heats and ruts start)
if we're going off the picture that you saw with the birth canal being connected to the rectum (which isn't my favorite interpretation, but i guess it'd be the equivalent to a cloaca) then parents wouldn't know the status of their child until presentation or if they get an x-ray done to see the organs
i'm thinking that most families wouldn't do this since they wouldn't particularly care, but the ones that have bias against male omegas (and omegas in general let's be honest) might. lonnie would be the type of person who would insist on getting the x-rays done for both jonathan and will when they're little and then bitching about them being omegas and blames joyce for making them that way cuz he's a piece of shit

What is the use of SMS modem ?

An SMS modem is a device that enables computers and other electronic devices to send and receive SMS messages over a cellular network. It typically connects to a computer via a USB or serial port and utilizes a SIM card to establish a connection with the cellular network. SMS modems are frequently employed in applications where automated or bulk SMS message transmission and reception are required.
Here are some common applications of SMS modems:
Two-factor authentication:Â SMS modems can be used to send one-time passwords (OTPs) to users for two-factor authentication. This enhances security by requiring both a password and access to the user's phone for login.
Remote monitoring:Â SMS modems can transmit alerts and notifications from remote devices, such as sensors or alarms. This facilitates monitoring equipment in remote locations or receiving security breach alerts.
Bulk SMS messaging:Â SMS modems enable sending bulk SMS messages for marketing or notifications. This efficiently reaches a large audience compared to individual messages.
M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication:Â SMS modems facilitate communication between machines, such as vending machines or ATMs. This enables status updates, command reception, or action triggering.
SMS voting and polling:Â SMS modems can collect votes or poll responses from a large population. This aids surveys, elections, or other feedback gathering methods.

Role of Genetics in Ataxia Ataxia is a neurological disorder that is characterized by unsteady walking, loss of muscle coordination and slurred speech. It is no longer a rare condition in that more is known about it. It is dominant hereditary, recessive or sporadic. It is dominant hereditary if both parents pass the gene on to their offspring and DNA tests detect this condition. It is recessive when only one parent transmits the gene. And it is sporadic if there is no evidence to show this. Friedrich ataxia is the most common recessive type of ataxia, with first symptoms developing in childhood. The ataxia gene may also be mutated and develop into ATM. No cures are known for ataxia and the prospects are dim. Ataxia is a neurological condition, wherein spinal and cerebellum nerve cells slowly but progressively deteriorate (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000). It is characterized by unsteady gait, clumsiness and lack of muscle coordination. Stumbling or drunken walk, un-coordinated hand movement and slurred speech are initial symptoms, which may quickly progress in 10-15 years or slowly in 20 or more years. Ataxia is hereditary or sporadic or idiopathic. It is hereditary when a defective gene is responsible for it, either as a dominant or recessive trait, and crosses generations. And it is sporadic or idiopathic when no family history of the disease can explain it. Although no longer a rare condition, it is still not as recognized as multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy, which have similar symptoms as ataxia. Recent studies showed that there are approximately 2,500 with recessive ataxia, 800 with dominant ataxia and about 2,000 with the sporadic type (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000). There is as yet no known cure or treatment to ataxia, which inevitably confines the victim to the wheelchair. Besides the general practitioner, a speech therapist, a physiotherapist and even alternative practitioners like a reflexologist or aromatherapist may help control the symptoms of ataxia. The most common inherited and dominant type is Friedreich's ataxia, which usually begins in childhood. The recessive inherited and early onset types include spastic ataxia, cerebellar ataxia and ataxia telangiectasia, while late onset ataxias include cerebellar atrophy, cerebellar ataxia, spastic ataxia, cerebellar degeneration and olivopontocerebellar atrophy or degeneration. It is believed that 1 in every 100 in the U.S. is a carrier of the altered type of Friedreich's ataxia gene. Many carriers are not even aware of it until a child develops the symptoms. The frataxin gene is behind Friedreich's ataxia. Every person ha approximately 100,000 genes in every cell of his or her body and not all of them are active (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000). He or she has copies of each gene of each parent, the mother and the father. This genetic pattern, known as autosomal recessive inheritance, means that the disease is hereditary, that a double dose of the altered or nonfunctioning gene is needed to produce symptoms, that the disease can affect male and female equally and that a person can carry the gene without the symptoms of the disease. A person who has only one copy of the altered Friedreich's gene is only a carrier of this type of ataxia and can pass it on to his or her children without showing symptoms. The second copy is needed to develop the symptoms. Freidreich's ataxia or FA affects 3,000 to 5,000 persons in the U.S. (Robinson 1999). It is an autosomal recessive disease. Couples with one child carrying the gene have a 25% chance of replicating the condition with each succeeding pregnancy. The gene for FA is a protein called frataxin. Normal frataxin is located in the mitochrondria, cellular structures that contribute to the transport of iron in the body. The frataxin in FA creates a condition called triple repeat, wherein there is a production of superfluous information. The extra DNA disrupts the normal production of frataxin and transport of iron. Some believe that FA develops partly because of defects in the transport of iron, which interfere with the efficient use of cellular energy supplies. The spinal cord nerve cells that transmit information between muscles and the brain are the most affected in FA. Normal functioning requires the tight control of movement between the muscles that enable movement, those that restrain the movement and the brain. Without this tight control, the movements turn loose and uncoordinated, jerky and useless. The first symptoms of FA show up between ages 8 and 15, although they may begin as early as 18 months and as late as 25 (Robinson 1999), usually in the form of gain un-coordination. A child with FA will be unsteady when standing still and usually suffer from a deterioration of position sense. There can be foot deformities, uneven muscle weakness in the legs and muscle spasms and cramps, especially at night. Within many years, ataxia in the arms usually follows and leads to reduced hand-eye coordination. Arm weakness occurs much later. Speech and swallowing then become hard and diabetes mellitus may develop. Other commonly observed symptoms include eye tremor or nystagmus, loss of visual acuity, hearing loss, severe scoliosis and heartbeat abnormalities, such as shortness of breath after exertion, swollen lower limbs and cold feet. FA can be diagnosed through a careful review of one's medical history and a thorough neurological examination (Robinson 1999), which can include electromyography, an electrical test of muscles, a nerve conduction velocity test and a direct DNA test for FA and other types of ataxia. The siblings of the patient may also be diagnosed for the genetic defect. No cure or a treatment to slow the progress of FA has been found or developed. Administering amantadine has been used but not by patients with cardiac disorders. Physical and occupational therapy can address the problem of motion in weakened muscles as well as establish adaptive techniques and tools to make up for the loss of coordination and strength. One technique is the use of weights on the arms. The progress of the condition varies highly (Robinson 1999). Most sufferers lose their ability to walk within 15 years from the first appearance of symptoms and 95% of them need a wheelchair to move about by age 45. The rate of deaths among victims of FA also widely varies from the mid-30s to the mid-60s. There has been no known way of preventing FA from developing in a person with two defective copies of the gene from both parents Hereditary dominant ataxia differs from recessive ataxia. A child whose parent has hereditary dominant ataxia has a 50-50% chance of having it and passing it on to his own offspring by gene mutation. Symptoms of dominant ataxias show up in the 20s and 30s. Recessive ataxia, on the other hand, appears only when both parents carry the gene and pass it on to the child. In this case, the parents are only carriers and show no symptoms. Each of their children has a 25% chance of acquiring the disorder and 50% of becoming a carrier like them. Symptoms of recessive ataxia usually come out in the teenage years. Dominant ataxias are now relatively easy to detect through modern DNA tests. Hereditary ataxia, like Friedreich ataxia, is often mistaken as multiple sclerosis (Robinson). Besides the triple repeat genetic condition, point mutation can lead to Freidreich's ataxia, although this type is less common (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000). It occurs when the person inherits two triple repeats or a point mutation and a triplet repeat. Two point mutations can also theoretically cause FA, but it has not been observed in patients. Research, instead, has revealed that those with fewer repeats develop the disease at a later time, with slower progression and less severe heart conditions. The most affected parts of the body in FA are the cells of the nervous system that pass on sensory and movement signals through long fibers (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000). These fibers cross between the central nervous system and the brain. They degenerate over time. FA affects the cells in the heart and the pancreas too. Some of these cells die probably as a direct consequence of the loss of frataxin or of secondary effects. A person with FA should, first of all, have himself or herself thoroughly examined by a physician, preferably a neurologist who is knowledgeable and sensitive to all the complications of FA (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000). A neurologic examination may evaluate the cerebellum and the spine through the computerized tomography or CT or the magnetic resonance imaging or MRI, and conduct other tests that will rule out other conditions, an eye examination, a hearing test, a bone test, an electrocardiogram, and an endocrine test. A speech pathologist, a physical or occupational therapist and urologist will also be helpful if the condition is ascertained and progresses. The patient and his or her family should also go through genetic counseling - they should be informed about the chances of passing on the gene to their offspring or become carriers. It will also help them to ask questions about sophisticated DNA techniques. The most frequent symptom is difficulty in walking or gait ataxia (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000), which spreads slowly to the arms and the trunk. Foot deformities, such as clubfoot, flexion of the toes or foot inversion are other early signs. In time, muscles weaken and waste, especially the muscles in the feet, lower legs and hands and, at this time, deformities s begin to show. Other symptoms are the loss of tendon reflexes especially in the knees and ankles, the gradual disappearance of sensation in the extremities, dysarthria or slowness of speech or slurring, easy fatigue, rapid and involuntary movements of the eyes, scoliosis, chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, heart enlargement, myocardial fibrosis, tachycardia, heart block and heart failure. Studies showed that about 20% of FA patients also develop carbohydrate intolerance and 10%, of diabetes mellitus, while others lose their hearing or eyesight. In most cases, the patient gets strapped to a wheelchair within 15 to 20 years from the appearance of the first symptoms (Unicorn Self-Help Committee 2000). In the later stage of the disease, the patient becomes completely incapacitated and his or her life expectancy is reduced. Most FA sufferers die in early adulthood, often because of a serious and resulting heart condition, which also becomes the immediate cause of death. Patients with less than severe symptoms fortunately live longer (Unicorn). Another serious type of ataxia is ataxia-telangiectasia or at, also called Louis-Bar syndrome, although a rare type (Barrett 1999). At patients mostly die in their early 20s. The abnormal effects of at on the nervous system are first observed or detected at age 2, during which muscle control progressively decreases. It is also at this age that immune system defects and blood cancers are not uncommon and the patient becomes most sensitive to radiation. It was first discovered and written about in the mid-1920s but got recognized as a specific disorder and given a name only in 1957 (Barrett 1999). At is a combination of ataxia and telangiectasia, which is characterized by tiny red spots, but is more than a combination of these disorders. At is liked with immune system deficiencies, extreme sensitivity to radiation, and blood cancers. Medical experts first suspected that it was caused by multiple genes. In 1995, the discovery of a single gene behind at denied their suspicion and they named the gene ATM or at mutated. Further tests and discoveries revealed that ATM plays a role in cell division. Under normal conditions, a proofreading and repair mechanism is able to correct a damage on the DNA before cell replication continues. At cells seem to ignore this mechanism and continue to grow and divide. AT is a rare condition. It affects only about 500 persons in the U.S. (Barrett 1999), but approximately.5 to 14% of the population or roughly 2.5 million are carriers of one copy of the mutated gene (Barrett 1999). Many or most of these carriers do not experience signs or symptoms, such as increased sensitivity to radiation or a higher rate of cancer. The ATM gene is autosomal recessive or occurs only if inherited from both parents. A child of such parents first appears healthy, but develops the symptoms of at when he or she turns 2. The root cause is cell death in the brain, specifically the large ones in the middle layer of the cerebellum. The toddler suddenly turns clumsy and loses balance, his speech becomes slurred and more difficult and symptoms progressively get worse. Up to age 8, there appear tiny, red spider veins on the cheeks, ears and the eyes. Between 10 and 12, the child with at can no longer control their muscles. Their immune system is affected. They have lower-than-normal level of antibodies and white blood cells. Their thymus gland is either missing or abnormally developed. Although intelligence remains normal, their growth may be retarded on account of their disturbed immune system functioning. Some at patients are stricken with diabetes, premature graying of the hair, and have difficulty swallowing. As children with at grow older, their immune system turns weaker and so they become less capable of fighting disease. In the later stages of at, recurrent respiratory infections and blood cancers, like leukemia and lymphoma, are common. The diagnosis of at depends on that of at progressive ataxia and telangiectasia (Barrett 1999). But because ataxia symptoms appear before those of telangiectasia for many years, diagnosis of the combination becomes difficult. Symptoms also vary among the affected persons. About 70% of them have a high incidence of respiratory infection and 30% do not. Only when the ATM is identified does screening or treatment becomes possible. Like FA, there is as yet no known cure for at. Individual symptoms can only be managed, such as by a physical therapist and a speech therapist, who can help the patient adjust to ataxia. Gamma globulin injections or extracts of human blood with antibodies have been used to strengthen a patient's weakened immune system along with high doses of vitamins. AT, however, remains a fatal condition. At children become physically disabled in early teens and mostly die in their early 20s (Barrett 1995). In a few and rare cases, the progression may be slowed down and the life span extended to their 30s. At carriers are five times likelier to develop certain cancers, like breast cancer and bone cancer, than non-carriers. Medical experts continue to investigate and improve on screening methods to detect if a person carries the defective gene. Commercial tests have yet to be developed as a preventive measure. The identification of the ATM should now help and direct geneticists in developing diagnostic those diagnostic tests, including prenatal diagnosis and carrier detection to at families, according to Yosef Shioh of the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel Aviv University and his colleagues (Adler 1995). Shiloh and his colleagues believed that 1 in 40,000 in a population of 100,000 develop at. They also said that certain groups, such as Italians and Turks, seem to have higher incidence of at than other races. At sufferers represent only 1% of the U.S. population (Adler). Nevertheless, the discovery of the ATM gene is assumed to be helpful in detecting whether a male of female carrier is at an increased risk of developing cancer, according to David L. Nelson of the National Cancer Institute of Bethesda, Maryland (Adler 1995). The gene's protein resembles enzymes involved in immune function, cell death and cell division and will help researchers in their search for a treatment for at, said Nathaniel Heintz of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (as qtd in Adler). Their study may just bring them to discover life-saving information on how the body controls cell division or brings about cell death. At patients suffer from rapid loss of brain cells and from tumors (Adler) and further discovery on cell division and cell death can break the mystery of such loss of brain cells, tumors and ataxia. These coatings are designed to inhibit the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi on the glass surface, significantly reducing the risk of infections.
How Antimicrobial Coatings Work
Antimicrobial coatings typically incorporate agents such as silver ions or other metal compounds known for their antibacterial properties. These agents work by disrupting the cellular processes of bacteria, effectively killing them upon contact. For instance, products like those from Mobile Phone Guard have been shown to kill up to 99.99% of harmful bacteria, including common pathogens like Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus2.The process of applying these coatings involves several steps:
Preparation:Â The glass surface is cleaned and prepped to ensure optimal adhesion.
Coating Application:Â An antimicrobial agent is applied to the glass surface, often in conjunction with a strengthening agent.
Heat Treatment: The coated glass is subjected to heat treatment, which helps diffuse the antimicrobial agent into the surface while enhancing the glass's strength 13.
Benefits of Using Antimicrobial Tempered Glass
Enhanced Hygiene:Â The primary advantage is the significant reduction in microbial presence on device surfaces. This is particularly beneficial for frequently touched items like smartphones, tablets, and laptops.
Durability: Tempered glass is inherently stronger than regular glass, making it resistant to scratches and impacts while maintaining its antimicrobial properties even after wear 2.
Easy Maintenance:Â The smooth surface of tempered glass makes it easy to clean. Many coatings also offer anti-fingerprint properties, ensuring that your screen remains clear and smudge-free.
Peace of Mind:Â Knowing that your device has an added layer of protection against germs can provide reassurance in everyday use.

What are the Applications of the Nernst Equation?Â
The Nernst equation, a cornerstone in electrochemistry, provides a quantitative relationship between the potential of an electrochemical cell and the concentrations of the species involved in the redox reaction. This equation, named after the German physical chemist Walther Nernst, is essential for understanding and predicting the behaviour of electrochemical cells, from batteries to corrosion processes. Â
Fundamental Concepts Â
Before delving into the Nernst equation itself, letâs revisit some fundamental concepts:Â Â
Electrochemical Cell:Â An electrochemical cell is a device that converts chemical energy into electrical energy or vice versa. It consists of two half-cells: the anode (oxidation occurs) and the cathode (reduction occurs). Â Â Â Â
Redox Reaction:Â A redox reaction involves the transfer of electrons between species. The species that loses electrons is oxidized, while the species that gains electrons is reduced. Â Â Â Â
Standard Reduction Potential (E°): This is the potential of a half-cell under standard conditions (1 M concentration, 1 atm pressure, 25°C).Â
Derivation of the Nernst Equation Â
The derivation of the Nernst equation involves a combination of thermodynamics and electrochemistry. It starts with the relationship between Gibbs free energy (ÎG) and cell potential (E):Â Â
ÎG = -nFEÂ
For a non-standard condition, the Gibbs free energy is related to the standard Gibbs free energy (ÎG°) and the reaction quotient (Q) by the following equation: Â
ÎG = ÎG° + RT ln QÂ
Combining these two equations and rearranging them, we arrive at the Nernst equation.Â
Importance of Nernst equationÂ
The Nernst equation is a fundamental equation in electrochemistry that holds significant importance due to its wide range of applications and insights it provides into electrochemical processes. Here are some key reasons why the Nernst equation is important:  Â
1. Calculating Cell Potentials under Non-Standard Conditions:  Â
The Nernst equation allows us to calculate the cell potential of an electrochemical cell when the conditions deviate from standard conditions (1 M concentration, 1 atm pressure, 298 K).  Â
This is crucial for understanding the behaviour of batteries, fuel cells, and other electrochemical devices under real-world conditions.Â
2. Determining Equilibrium Constants:  Â
By measuring the cell potential at equilibrium, the Nernst equation can be used to calculate the equilibrium constant (K) of a redox reaction.  Â
This information is valuable in predicting the extent to which a reaction will proceed and understanding the thermodynamics of the process.  Â
3. Analyzing Electrochemical Sensors:Â
The Nernst equation is fundamental to the operation of electrochemical sensors, such as pH meters and ion-selective electrodes.Â
It relates the potential of the sensor to the concentration of the analyte species, enabling accurate measurements.Â
4. Predicting Corrosion Rates:Â
By understanding the electrochemical reactions involved in corrosion, the Nernst equation can help predict the corrosion rate of metals in different environments.Â
This knowledge is essential for designing corrosion prevention strategies and selecting suitable materials for specific applications.Â
5. Understanding Biological Processes:Â
The Nernst equation is applied in biology to study the electrical potential across cell membranes, which is crucial for nerve impulse transmission and muscle contraction.  Â
It helps analyze the distribution of ions across cell membranes and the role of ion channels in cellular processes.Â
6. Environmental Monitoring:Â
The Nernst equation is used in environmental monitoring to measure the concentration of pollutants in water and soil.  Â
Electrochemical sensors based on the Nernst equation can provide rapid and accurate measurements of various environmental parameters.Â
Applications of the Nernst Equation Â
The Nernst equation has numerous applications in various fields, including:Â Â
Electrochemistry:Â Â
Predicting Cell Potentials:Â By knowing the standard reduction potentials of the half-reactions and the concentrations of the species involved, the Nernst equation can be used to calculate the cell potential under non-standard conditions. Â Â Â Â
Designing Electrochemical Cells: The equation helps optimize the design of batteries, fuel cells, and other electrochemical devices by considering factors like temperature, concentration, and electrode materials. Â
Understanding Corrosion: The Nernst equation can be used to analyze corrosion processes and develop strategies to prevent or mitigate corrosion. Â
2. Analytical Chemistry: Â
Potentiometry: This technique involves measuring the potential of an electrochemical cell to determine the concentration of an analyte. The Nernst equation is crucial in calibrating electrodes and interpreting the potential readings. Â
Ion-Selective Electrodes: These electrodes are used to measure the concentration of specific ions in solution. The Nernst equation relates the electrode potential to the ion concentration. Â
3. Biology and Medicine: Â
Bioelectrochemistry: The Nernst equation is used to understand the electrochemical processes involved in biological systems, such as nerve impulse transmission and cellular respiration. Â
Medical Devices: The equation plays a role in the design and operation of medical devices like pH meters, blood gas analyzers, and biosensors. Â
Limitations of the Nernst Equation Â
While the Nernst equation is a powerful tool, it has some limitations:Â Â
Ideal Behavior: The equation assumes the ideal behaviour of solutions, which may not always be the case, especially at high concentrations. Â
Activity Coefficients: In reality, the activity of a species, not its concentration, affects the cell potential. Activity coefficients can be used to account for deviations from ideal behaviour, but they are often difficult to determine accurately. Â
Kinetic Effects: The Nernst equation does not consider kinetic factors like mass transfer limitations and electrode kinetics, which can affect the actual cell potential. Â
The Nernst equation stands as a cornerstone in the realm of electrochemistry, providing a quantitative link between the potential of an electrochemical cell and the thermodynamic properties of the redox reaction. Its wide-ranging applications in various fields, from electrochemistry to biology and medicine, highlight its significance in understanding and controlling electrochemical processes. By recognizing its limitations and considering the underlying assumptions, the Nernst equation can be effectively used to predict cell potentials, optimize electrochemical devices, and analyze complex biological systems. Â
While the Nernst equation offers a powerful framework, itâs essential to remember that it relies on certain assumptions and approximations. For more accurate predictions, particularly in non-ideal conditions, advanced techniques and considerations may be necessary. Â
To delve deeper into the intricacies of the Nernst equation and its applications, consider exploring additional resources and tutorials.
