Le abbazie benedettine sono uno dei principali elementi storici, artistici e soprattutto spirituali  nel paesaggio europeo. Nel corso dei secoli sono state più volte saccheggiate, distrutte, soppresse ma hanno saputo spesso “risorgere”, mutando talvolta la forma esteriore ma non lo spirito che le ha viste nascere. Nel mio tentativo di costruire una sorta di Atlante Monastico Europeo vi porto oggi…

The main attraction is the church of Saints Peter and Paul. The Benedictine Abbey is located on one of the three Jurassic hills that dominate the river, on the edge of the village Tyniec. It was founded by King Bolesław Śmiały (Boleslao the Brave) and was built in the second half of the 11th century. Originally the basilica was erected in early Romanesque style. Over the centuries it was destroyed several times by Tartar and Swedish invations. ……………………………………………… L’Abbazia dei Benedettini di Tyniec si trova sul lato destro della Vistola, 15 KM lungo il fiume da Cracovia. L'attrazione principale è la chiesa dei Santi Pietro e Paolo. L’Abbazia Benedettina, è situata su uno dei tre colli d’epoca giurassica che dominano il fiume, sul bordo del villaggio Tyniec. Fu fondata dal re Bolesław Śmiały (Boleslao il Coraggioso) e venne costruita nella seconda metà del XI° sec. Originariamente la basilica fu eretta in stile primo-romanico.
