Vacuum Glass Windows

Although vacuum glass windows sound futuristic in concept, they are very feasible. This window is made from two layers of 3mm-thick glass. One layer is coated with an extra-insulating layer. The second sheet is separated from its predecessor by a 0.1mm vacuum. Between the layers, small cylinder-shaped pillars prevent them contacting each other under external pressure. Several photos of the 2008 SUV being tested on the Pakistani roads in camouflage have also been seen on the internet, but there was still an air of uncertainty about the company’s debut in Pakistan.

Yesterday, however, Peugeot Lucky Motor Corporation (PLMC) launched its official website and Facebook page, making its presence known. Needless to say that the announcement has been met with a lot of praise and positivity from enthusiasts and casual car buyers alike.

Challenges Facing the Humanitarian Agreement NOW! in Chocó

Four years after the signing of Colombia’s historic Peace Agreement with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), Afro-Colombian and Indigenous communities continue to suffer human rights violations at the hands of armed groups. The proposal drafted by 87 civil society groups, territorial authorities, and the Catholic Church in Chocó known as the Humanitarian Agreement NOW!, however, seeks to address this continued violence.

Following the ratification of the 2016 peace agreement, the demobilization of FARC combatants in Chocó brought a temporary, relative peace to the department. Months later, the continued lack of state presence created a power vacuum that led to confrontation between the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces (AGC). With guerrillas, paramilitaries, and FARC dissidents fighting for control, the collective territories of the Chocoan people are contested among these illegal armed groups with little to no protection from national security forces. The activities of these armed groups generated a humanitarian crisis where the Chocoan people continue to experience forced displacement, kidnappings, threats, murders, and confinement due to shootouts.

The current global health emergency caused by COVID-19 exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the territories. Earlier this year, the ELN declared a month-long unilateral ceasefire in response to the coronavirus pandemic. This prompted conversations over the possibility of restarting peace talks between the national government and the ELN, which have been stalled since January 2019. President Iván Duque set restrictive conditions the ELN must meet before his administration would consider resuming peace talks. The difficulty also lies in the ELN’s organizational structure that results in splinter groups who are not as responsive to a central command.

While Afro-Colombian and Indigenous leaders call for a bilateral ceasefire, they also plead with the National Government and the ELN to respect the entirety of the Humanitarian Agreement NOW! in Chocó in order to protect their communities.

What is the Humanitarian Agreement NOW! in Chocó?

In August 2017, Chocoan civil society, Afro-Colombian, and Indigenous communities proposed the Humanitarian Agreement NOW! in Chocó. This proposal addressed to the National Government and the ELN guerrilla group outlines a strategy to confront human rights violations and grants greater autonomy to territorial leadership. There are 20 demands in the proposal that are categorized into 11 themes:

1. Bilateral Ceasefire

The first demand in the proposal calls for a ceasefire between the National Government and the ELN in order to put an end to fighting so that a negotiation process can move forward.

2. Dismantling Illegal Armed Groups

Communities ask the Colombian state to dismantle the structures of illegal armed groups, including the paramilitary successor groups.

3. Territorial Autonomy

The first demand under this category is the respect and protection of the civilian population, which includes civilian property such as homes, schools, headquarters of social organizations, and transportation vehicles used to trade goods. The second demand calls for an end to attacks against social leaders, human rights defenders, and community councils. Communities also urge armed actors to not establish military assets or installations near populated areas. The fourth demand asks that groups do not interfere with territorial economies and job markets.

4. Demining

Armed groups are known to place cylinder bombs, “tatucos” explosions, anti-personnel mines, and traps in the territory of Chocó. Communities in the region demand groups to not only stop the placement of these weapons, but also to identify the areas where current weapons are installed. Their cooperation will help advance humanitarian landmine clearance and educate the civilian population on the imminent dangers that surround their communities.

5. The Negotiating Table

Both the National Government and the ELN are asked to participate in a dialogue until a concerted solution is reached. Organizations in Chocó also call for the guaranteed participation of the ELN’s Western War Front, which operates in the department.

6. Recruitment of Children and Adolescents

Communities demand an end to violence against children and adolescents, including their forced recruitment by armed groups. The ELN is specifically called on to release the children and adolescents in its ranks.

7. Women and the LGBT+ Community

Civil society in Chocó urge an end to the violence against girls, women, lebsian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex Colombians. Communities are also concerned about the sexual violence from armed groups against Indigenous, Black, and Mestizo women and girls.

8. Murders and Forced Disappearances

Groups in Chocó demand respect for the freedom and life of the department’s people and leaders. It asks actors to abstain from practices of forced disappearances and kidnapping.

9. Displacement, Confinement, and Mobility Restrictions

Civil society demands that parties do not carry out actions that generate displacement, confinement, or restrictions on the mobility of individuals, families, or communities. These actions include threats, harassment, recruitment of adolescents, and use of anti-personnel mines.

10. Illicit Crops

Organizations in Chocó urge groups to refrain from promoting, incentivizing, or planting illicit crops. They also discourage gold mining practices that are detrimental to Black and Indigenous communities. Crop substitution programs, with the oversight of ethnic-territorial authorities, are encouraged to improve communities’ socioeconomic conditions.

11. Tracking and Verification

A monitoring and verification committee will be constituted to track the agreement’s progress. This committee comprises those who signed the proposal and will be accompanied by the Mission to Support the Peace Process in Colombia of the Organization of American States (MAPP/OAS), the United Nations, and other organizations and institutions with a regional presence.

What is the status of the Humanitarian Agreement?

The national government is hesitant to adopt the Humanitarian Agreement because it calls for a bilateral ceasefire. In response to the ELN’s recent call for a 90-day ceasefire on July 7, President Iván Duque affirmed the government’s constitutional duty to confront crime throughout the country. His comments further cement the administration’s hardline stance against the ELN.

Miguel Ceballos, Colombia's High Commissioner for Peace, reiterated the government’s constitutional duty at an event hosted by the Ethnic Commission on July 9. Ceballos simply put ‘the government cannot legally stop fighting crime.’ Unable to guarantee compliance with the first demand of a bilateral ceasefire, he assured the audience that the government sought to adopt components of the Humanitarian Agreement.

Abid Manuel Romaña Mena and Charo Mina, representatives of the Interethnic Solidarity Forum of Chocó (FISCH) and the Afro-Colombian Peace Council (CONPA) respectively, emphasized the importance of the entire Humanitarian Agreement. They explained the proposal is more than a bilateral ceasefire. The situation in Chocó and other territories requires immediate attention. What alternative is the national government offering? Communities are ready to respond and work with the state.

While the proposal has its origins in the Chocó department, the Humanitarian Agreement has become a strategy supported by various communities throughout the country. It is crucial to highlight the important roles that Afro-Colombian and Indigenous groups have in this process. These groups are the ones most affected by the continued armed conflict in the region— their perspectives and ideas are essential to achieve a sustainable peace, and they are needed now.

ป.ล : รบกวนช่วยดูให้ด้วย เรื่องงานคัดท่อ Cylinder selection เพราะขณะเสียเวลามากในขั้นตอนการทดสอบแรงดันถัง Hydrostatic Pressure Test ทำอ่างไรถึงจะเติมน้ำ และ เดรนน้ำออกไปมากขึ้นกว่านี้ ตอนนี้ท่อใบใหญ่เดรนน้ำออกได้คราวละ 2 ใบพร้อมกัน จะดีมากเลยถ้าเดรนน้ำออกทีคราวละ 4 ใบ น่าจะต้องเพิ่มระบบ ท่อน้ำ/ท่อลม เพิ่มขึ้นอีก 2 ไลน์ เพื่อให้ทำการ Charge เติมน้ำเข้า / Discharge เดรนน้ำออก ได้ไวกว่านี้ บางครั้งหลังจาก Test ท่อเสร็จแล้ว คนงานต้องทำ O/T อยู่จนดึก เพื่อเดรนน้ำออกจากท่อ และ ทำความสะอาดท่อทั้งหมด

เนื่องจากขณะที่ทางบริษัทผู้ตรวจสอบ ซึ่งเป็น Inspector ผู้ตรวจสอบคุณภาพถังบรรจุแก็ส ได้ทำการทดสอบแรงดัน เพื่อทำการคัดถังสำหรับงาน R22 / R134a Cylinder Recondition สายไฮดรอลิคได้แตกระเบิดออก ทาง บริษัทฯ ซึ่งต้องรับช่วงงานต่อจาก ผู้ตรวจสอบ ได้รับคำสั่งจากหน่วยงานให้ทำการซ่อมสายด่วน เพราะ ผู้ตรวจสอบ ต้องเข้างานในอีก 1 วันถัดไป ตอนแรกจะทำการเชื่อมต่อโดยใช้ข้อเชื่อม Double Insert Connector เชื่อมสายให้ แต่ปรากฏว่าเมื่อตรวจสอบสภาพสายแล้ว มีจุดที่จะแตกระเบิดได้อีด เป็นจำนวนมาก เนื่องจากสายยางเสื่มสภาพแล้ว จึงขออนุญาตเปลี่ยนเส้นใหม่ เพื่อจะได้ไม่ติดขัดเสียค่าเวลาให้ Inspector ไปเปล่า

เพิ่มขีด Dash ( – ) ทั้งภาษาอังกฤษ และ ภาษาไทย ตามแบบที่แนบมาครับ แก้แล้วขึ้นงานทำบล็อควันจันทร์เลยครับ ไม่แก้ไขแล้วเพราะจริงๆ แล้วต้องส่งงานวันที่ จำนวน 10 ใบ เมื่อบล็อคพิมพ์เสร็จไม่ทัน ผมก็ต้องเลื่อนไปส่งวันที่ ทบต้นด้วยเป็นจำนวน 20 ใบ สายงานการผลิตเป็นเหมือนขบวนรถไฟ ถ้าหัวขบวนไม่ขยับ ท้ายขบวนก็เคลื่อนต่อไปไม่ได้ ผมกำลังเร่งทำบล็อคเต็มที่ให้เสร็จโดยเร็วที่สุด ไม่เช่นนั้น ของก็ส่งออกไม่ได้ – ขนเข้ามาก็ไม่ได้ เพราะพื้นที่การผลิตจำกัด

ผมจะไม่แก้ไขงาน Artwork แล้ว เพราะต้องเร่งงานทำบล็อคแม่พิมพ์ ให้เสร็จโดยด่วน

1. ได้ออกแบบให้ โลโก้บริษัท AGC ตัวอักษรอ้วนหนาขึ้นกว่าเดิม ทำให้ตัวหนากว่านี้ไม่ได้แล้วเพราะจะตกกรอบของแม่พิมพ์ ส่วนตัวหนังสือยาวกว่าปกติเหมือนกันบล็อกพิมพ์เก่า เพราะเป็นงานพิมพ์สกรีนบนผิวโค้ง เส้นผ่าศูนย์กลางท่อ 85 cm. 2. สูตรเคมีของ น้ำยาแอร์ตัวเก่า R22 คือ CHF2Cl ใช้เป็นตัวเลขห้อย , ส่วนสูตรเคมีของน้ำยาแอร์ตัวใหม่ AK134a คือ CH2FCF3 ก็ให้ใช้ตัวเลขห้อยให้เหมือนกัน 3. This is the 4th trial on cylinder coatings ( last 3 times on L-Cl2 cylinder + currently 1 time on R22 / AK134a cylinder ).I think our workers spent a lot of their efforts to improve the production skill.They have enough expereince and are familiar with the coating system on your storage cylinder very well.

After the completion of full processed coating trials on R22 / R134a cylinders, I think that the result is quite satisfactory and we can go ahead on mass production. If We Can Put a Man on the Moon, Then My Phone Should...

This is one of those phrases that truly test my patience. In the first place, it shows me I am not only dealing with a completely tech ignorant individual, but a rather unreasonable one too. Believe or not, your smartphone is expected to do a whole lot more that a rocket and lunar lander does - not to mention, being easy enough to be operated by uneducated and ignorant novices.

Let's start with the Apollo Guidance System, shall we?

Contrary to what several people seem to think, that computer didn't do all the work. All it did was take the astronauts’ commands and inputs and then followed protocols. To quote Computer Weekly:

Controlling a rocket is not like controlling a car. A rocket is basically a large explosion in a metal cylinder, with tiny explosions to control it. You don't really steer it as much as you nudge it into place and let momentum do its thing.

Seriously, that's all that one computer did - it fired the jets as dictated by the astronauts. Astronauts who were highly trained engineers and used their own mental capacity to figure out the correct things to tell the computer what they needed it to do. That is completely different than your phone, which has been programmed to attempt to anticipate a few of your needs.

The computers used for the moon landing were less problematic because they only had a few things to do. Their tasks were 1) steer the vehicles based on human commands and 2) environment control. Don't get me wrong, the programming in them was excellent, but it was also extremely controlled and customization to the individual wasn't a core concern.

It also cost a whole lot more than even that iPhone X you might be reading this post on. We're talking $25.4 billion or $25,400,000,000. So, no, you really haven't paid enough money for your phone service to be bug-proof. Nor have you paid your carrier enough money to guarantee perfect service. Chances are, you haven't even paid the $2,000,000-some it costs to put up a new cell tower.

I work to fix your device because it's my job to do so, within reason. I can see how much you pay us when you called in. I do my best to give the same high quality of service to my customers, independent of how much they spend with us, because people mean more to me than money. But I'm only human. Act like a spoiled toddler and I will be forced to redirect some of my mental energy from fixing your issue to biting my tongue at your misconceived entitlement fantasy.

2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS Prototype Review: The Return of Mercedes’ Swoopy Coupe

SAN FRANCISCO – Invoking the description “cultured sporty” for its redesigned 2019 CLS four-door coupe, Mercedes-Benz will revive its swoopy styling while delivering an array of new engines.

Fans of the original CLS will be gratified to see the return of one long sweep of side sheetmetal, ditching the ungainly rear haunches from the second generation. Sadly, the crisp character line of the first-gen CLS does not make a return, with Mercedes instead providing more of a muscular shoulder. The rear deck has a bit of a pouty lip at the trunklid edge, which might be a polarizing touch.

The CLS will be a nimble combination of unique parts and platform sharing. It will ride on the MRA platform shared with the E-Class and carry the same wheelbase and axles (although the CLS and E-Class have different overall lengths and tracks, giving the CLS the appearance of its 19-inch wheels being pushed farther to the corners; Mercedes declined to provide specific dimensions for the CLS). Meanwhile, the engines and electronics will be shared with the S-Class. The seats and most of the interior will be unique to the CLS.

Despite its sleek appearance, the CLS is actually less slippery than the E-Class—with a 0.26 cD compared to 0.23 for the stockier-looking sedan. Why? Much had to do with the keeping the rear axle on the ground at higher speeds without adding a spoiler, which would ruin the line of the car. So a lot of aerodynamic work happens underneath the CLS. You don’t see it, but the wind does.

Unfortunately, due to our different bumper-testing regulations, the U.S. gets a different rear bumper—one that loses the cool flushness that every other market gets. “Why ruin it for everyone else?” CLS chief engineer Michael Kelz said.

The CLS450 will come with the 3.0-liter turbocharged, supercharged, and hybridized M256 inline-six that generates 367 hp and 369 lb-ft, utters a great throaty snarl, and reaches 62 mph in 5.0 seconds. Given those output numbers, it seems the CLS’ engine is slightly detuned from the version that appears in the S-Class. A forthcoming AMG version will have 430 hp and shave 0.2 second off the 0–62 time.

Kelz says the inline-six “splits the hot and cool sides” based on exhaust routing—placing the catalytic converter, 48-volt assembly and 12-volt converter, the twin-scroll turbocharger, and the rest of the exhaust system on the driver’s right while the electric supercharger (or e-turbo as they often call it) resides on the driver’s left. The 12-volt battery is now carried in the back of the car.

Europe will also get a CLS350 with a completely new 300-hp, 295-lb-ft 2.0-liter four-cylinder code-named M264—although Mercedes engineers quietly note that the four-banger could migrate to America, as well.

Six- and four-cylinder diesel variants will also be sold in Europe; the OM656 inline-six generates 286 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, and a four-cylinder oil-burner will create 245 hp and 369 lb-ft of twist.

The CLS will come with a choice of three suspensions: a standard steel suspension, an adaptive steel suspension (the sportiest of the three), and a multichamber air suspension.

For this specialized version of Mercedes’ Air Body Control, engineers decided that air springs were too floaty for sporty driving and used the E-Class’ multichamber system rather than the single-chamber of the S-Class. Despite being similar systems, there are differences in their respective applications—the E-Class responds slower but is also plusher, and the CLS is more about higher frequency and immediate response, said Hubert Schneider, head of testing for the E-Class, CLS, and GLC.

The result: flat cornering, even in Comfort mode. Rebound damping is exquisite even with the standard steel springs—as we found during a half-day drive from San Francisco down the Northern California coast and foothills. During a challenging chicane, the CLS squats solidly during the weight transfer.

As per traditional Mercedes drive modes, Eco, Comfort, and Sport will be available—defaulting to Comfort with each cycle of the ignition. However, in some city driving, Comfort might be more fuel-efficient—Eco is meant more for long-haul “sailing.” An available Intelligent Eco setting coordinates your destination with instant navigation and radar data for maximum fuel efficiency. When in sailing mode, the engine will be off—not idling—and will turn back on if engine braking is needed.

How does it do this? A 48-volt integrated starter generator, shared with the S-Class, can handle advanced stop/start, coasting, and electric boost. Also, the air-conditioning compressor is electrically driven, meaning the stop/start system can keep the engine off for longer periods. When sitting in heat-soak conditions with the engine off and the air conditioning on automatic, the electric compressor had no problems keeping the cabin cool.

Inside, the CLS will carry a fully digital instrument panel shared with the S-Class. Cool cyclone-looking air vents are arrayed in a 1-4-1 pattern across the console. (The E-Class also gets them for 2019 model year.) The inlays in the dash and door panels might look like carbon fiber, but they are a woven steel matrix. Each vent and panel has surrounding illumination in a selectable choice of 64 ambient colors that will make the Pantone deities smile.

Leather seats hold occupants firmly in place but are comfortable for longer drives. LED headlamps can cast their light nearly a half mile ahead. Two-pane acoustic glass from supplier AGC Automotive lends to the quietness of a bank vault—generating almost reverse air pressure on occupants’ tympanic membranes, yet just enough of the thrilling I-6’s note comes through to remind you that this is a performance car.

The form-over-function design does result in back-seat compromises, including tight headroom, splayed knees, and ingress and egress that require craning your neck to avoid a head versus headliner collision. The rear-seat headrests are small pads designed for safety more than comfort—but larger headrests would mean an even smaller visual area out the back.

The CLS goes on sale in Germany in March or April; the U.S. gets its first units in July. The U.S. market will initially get all-wheel-drive versions and then slowly integrate rear-drive versions into the dealer fleet.
