Melissa Etheridge at Circle In The Square is the singer telling you her life in remembrance and song. As she takes the stage it is evident that she has die hard fans in the audience. Under the smoke and purple lighting, Etheridge is bigger than life; so his her booming, raspy voice. Abigail Rosen Holmes has the lighting in between a nightclub feel and a concert. The set (Bruce Rodgers) is a simple one, the focus is clearly on the woman who's name is on the marque.

She starts the show about her childhood. Born in Leavenworth, Kansas, she has a very close relationship with her father who is both a teacher and a coach. Her mother is an angry woman and her sister and her never really got along. Loving music at any early stage in her life, she knew it was her calling. She started to play guitar at 8 years old and by 12 years old she was playing clubs with a band. Her father used to drive her and wait at the clubs much to her mothers chagrin.

At 14 years old her father bought her a piano and that is when she began writing songs. Where her father continually supported her love for music, her mother was indifferent to it. It was at this age that she knew that she was homosexual. After high school, she went to the prestigious Berkley School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

As college was brief, she used to hang out with a group of girls who took her to Lesbian bars and introduced her to mescalin and other psychedelic drugs. Within a year, Etheridge was back home in Kansas. It would be brief, however, her mother did not want her and her friends engaging in lesbian activity under her roof. Ending up in Kansas City she took a job singing and playing at a Magic Pan.

With an excellent supporting actor in Kate Owens, Etheridge was comically able to put forth various moments of her life. Owens played many roles from a groupie, the musician at the Magic Pan that Etheridge replaced, a presenter and so much more. Director Amy Tinkham was deft in mixing the various elements that added to this heartfelt show. Where everything was simplified... the staging, the set, the two worked in tandem brilliantly.

By the end of the first act, Etheridge was in Los Angeles, California. She found it difficult to break into the music business. Her big brake came when a record producer from Island Records saw her at a lesbian bar in Long Beach. It took 5 years to be discovered but she now had fame in her grasp.

While act two starts off at the same pace as act one, it falters mid way through. In 1988, Etheridge had her first record, her first tour and her first music video. This is about the same time as she meets a movie stars wife as she puts it and invites us to look it up. She performs "I Want To Come Over" which brought the house down. As her life moves at a whirlwind pace, she now has a second and third album, a Grammy, and a partner who wants to have a baby. Her father is dying and she now has a second child, one who will die years later from a fentanyl overdose during the pandemic.

As fast as she rose, the fall of cancer, the loss of her father and now her son has left her in turmoil. But it is not this that brings the second act down; the show spends to much time on the psychedelics, the cannabis cookies, the trips, the Sharma and she can be pretty preachy about her politics. It is one thing to have a political view, it is quite another to talk at us as an audience. She mentions getting an Oscar for writing songs to Al Gore "An Inconvenient Truth"; never mentions that Gore fudged the numbers and lied to the American people in this documentary, however.

While "Come To My Window" is fun (a solid B grade), it stumbles in the second act, however, it was fun indeed to watch this talented musician perform in a small, intimate setting sharing her life with us.

SABAN’S POWER RANGERS MORPH INTO ACTION LIVE ON STAGE

In Celebration of Power Rangers’ 25th Anniversary, Power Rangers Live Tour to Launch in Spring 2018 in 50 North American Cities, Including Los Angeles and Toronto

Los Angeles – October 10, 2017 – In celebration of Saban’s Power Rangers’ 25th Anniversary, the iconic Rangers are set to morph onto stages around North America in an epic live show based on one of the longest running series in television history. Power Rangers Live will be an interactive, mixed media stage production for the whole family with endless action-packed stunts and epic martial arts. Featuring themes from Power Rangers Ninja Steel, six ordinary teens will morph into the Power Rangers to help save cities and the world from an alien threat! Kicking off in Phoenix, AZ on February 17, 2018, the tour will visit an additional 50 North American cities in Spring 2018, including Los Angeles and Toronto.

Citi is the official card of Saban’s Power Rangers Live. Beginning Tuesday, October 10, 2017, at 12pm (local time), Citi card members will have access to a special pre-sale, as well as VIP packages that include a meet and greet with the Power Rangers through Citi’s Private Pass Program. The public on sale date will be Friday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. (local time).

The live tour will be part of a year-long celebration of 25 powerful years of Saban’s Power Rangers and the core pillars of the brand: inclusivity, diversity, and teamwork.

Created by Haim Saban and launched in 1993, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers quickly became a pop culture phenomenon. Today, Power Rangers is one of the longest running kids live-action series in television history. The series, currently in its 24th season with Power Rangers Ninja Steel, and subsequent movies, including 2017’s feature film with Lionsgate, follows the adventures of a group of ordinary teens who morph into superheroes and save the world from evil. Power Rangers currently airs in 150 markets around the world and is translated into numerous languages.

“Power Rangers Live incorporates state of the art video and technology, jaw dropping live action stunts and amazing martial arts to make for a first class theater experience for Ranger fans of all ages,” says Jonathan Shank, Executive Producer, Red Light Management.

SPRINGFIELD — Aerosmith will bring “Deuces Are Wild — East Coast Run,” a special edition of its Las Vegas residency show, to three MGM Resorts properties: MGM National Harbor in Maryland on Aug. 8, 10, and 13; Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City on Aug. 16 and 18, and MGM Springfield on Aug. 21, 24, 26, and 29.

Along with never-before-seen visuals and audio from Aerosmith recording sessions, the performances will be presented in L-ISA Hyperreal sound, allowing fans to feel a deeper connection to the band. The MGM Springfield shows will take place at the MassMutual Center.

To take the “Deuces Are Wild” spectacle on the road, Aerosmith has partnered with Fireplay, who provided veteran show director Amy Tinkham (Paul McCartney, James Taylor) and show producer Steve Dixon (Guns N’ Roses, Justin Timberlake) to bring a custom-designed version of this show to each of these three unique venues. Joining the Aerosmith creative team is Grammy-winning producer Giles Martin, known for creating the soundscape the Beatles’ “Love” by Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas; production and lighting designers Josh Zangen and Nick Whitehouse, also of Fireplay (Justin Timberlake, Coldplay), and the groundbreaking visual and special-effects studio Pixomondo, known for its work on Game of Thrones.

Bonnie and Clyde had the wrong envelope, and announced “La La Land” as best picture. The film’s team came out for their speech. Then…never mind. “Moonlight” was the real winner. Host Jimmy Kimmel blamed Steve Harvey, then himself. PwC - the accounting firm that oversees the ballots - apologized for the not-so-classic mix-up and said they’re investigating what happened. WHAT ELSE HAPPENED? Kimmel - aka the Candy Man - spared no one in his opening monologue. Not even Meryl. Definitely not Mel. And he’s still not friends with Matt Damon. A bus load of tourists got punked. Things got political, too. Kimmel thanked President Trump for taking the spotlight away from that time “it seemed like the Oscars were racist.” Then he did some live tweeting. Meanwhile, the audience had all the feels during the In Memoriam part of the show. Jennifer Aniston - who introduced the segment - got choked up while talking about Bill Paxton, the actor who passed away at age 61 due to surgery complications the day before. WHO WON? “Moonlight” took home best picture and best adapted screenplay. “La La Land” director Damien Chazelle is now the youngest best director winner ever. Mahershala Ali became the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar. Emma Stone, Casey Affleck, and Viola Davis picked up the other acting awards. Iranian director Asghar Farhadi won for best foreign film, but boycotted the show to protest Trump’s travel ban. WHO WON THE RED CARPET? Viola Davis and Naomi Harris brought the heat. The artist formerly known as The Rock was feeling blue. Emma Stone, Nicole Kidman, and Jessica Biel channeled Oscar gold. WHO DIDN’T? Casey Affleck officially, officially needs to shave.
