Fossil Pokemons

Being a Pokemon Reasearcher, it would be strange for Lucille to NOT have any fossil Pokemons.

Omanyte

“Aww you’re so sweet !”

Moves: Water Gun, Ancient Power, Leer, Protect

Omanyte doesn’t seem to want to evolve so Lucille just let him be.

A sweetheart, always looking forward to cuddle with Lucille whenever he can.

He looks forward to cuddle with pretty much anybody that he comes across to be honest.

Omanyte isn’t much of a battler, so he prefers playing around in the lake with Lucille’s other water type Pokemons.

Doesn’t mean he can’t fight though. With Ancient Power boosting his stats and Leer lowering other’s defenses, Omanyte is a force to be reckon with.

Can, and will Water Gun Grim every chance he gets and acts all innocent when questioned.

Bastiodon

“Thanks for always helping the little ones train, girl”

Moves: Iron Defence, Heavy Slam, Take Down, Ancient Power.

A gentle giant. Bastiodon was resurrected from an Armor Fossil that Lucille dug up down in the Sinnoh Grand Underground.

As a Shieldon, she would always charge up to other Pokemons and challenge them to battles, after evolving, she has calmed down considerably and now helps younger Pokemons train.

When she’s not helping the little ones train, Bastiodon will usually wander around the Berry Farm the Lucille set up and eat some of the berries (given permission by Lucille of course).

Like all Bastiodons, this one is no exception as she will fiercely protect the younger Pokemons and the residents of Ramshackle using her rock-hard face.

Despite her rugged appearance, Bastiodon would never hurt a fly, for it is an innocent creature that has done nothing wrong. Azul, the Tweels and Jamil during/after Chap 3 and Chap 4 on the other hand…

Tirtouga

“What did I tell you about escaping the lake like that huh ??!!”

Moves: Aqua Jet, Crunch, Shell Smash, Ancient Power

Tirtouga is… an escape artist. And a stubborn one at that.

His curiosity might be his downfall one day, as he is always trying to explore the world around him.

So Lucille made a compromise with him that she will take him around every now and then using a large bucket.

Like Omanyte, Tirtouga can and will bite Grim whenever he can.

His bite isn’t something to joke, as Sebek had painfully learned upon finding him crawling near the mirror to Diasomnia.

Needless to say, his scream can be heard all the way from Ramshackle and it scared Lucille’s more timid Pokemons. It also took Lucille about thirty minutes, a snack break, some help pulling from Silver and Onion the Houndoom, to finally remove Tirtouga from Sebek’s hand.

Some students (Azul and the Tweels) tried to kidnap Tirtouga for selfish gains, but before they can even touch him, Tirtouga had already Aqua Jet away, leaving them in the dust.

Lucille did commented once that he is somewhat close to evolving.

Tyrantrum

“TYRANTRUM NO YOU CAN’T EAT CROWLEY, WHO KNOWS WHERE HE HAS BEEN ?? WHAT IF YOU GET SICK ??”

Moves: Ancient Power, Dragon Tail, Crunch, Rock Slide

Lucille’s first and biggest and strongest fossil Pokemon. Tyrantrum is a force to be reckon with as she got quite the temper with everyone that isn’t Lucille or her mate.

Originally a part of a pair of Tyrunts resurrected from two Jaw Fossils, the other one (aka her mate) went with Lucille’s best friend/Research buddy.

Tyrantrum is quite territorial, so she gets an entire enclosure of her own, with multiple warning signs surrounding it.

Anyone other than Lucille who tries to enter her enclosure will be chased Jurassic Park style.

Those poor, unfortunate victims ? Currently we have: The Tweels (mainly Floyd), Ace, Deuce, Grim, Jamil, Sebek, Rook, Crowley and still counting.

Crowley didn’t enter her enclosure, rather than that, Lucille forgot to close the gate because she was so tired and Tyrantrum got out. She saw Crowley walking inside Ramshackle to dump his responsibilities on Lucille (again) so she chased him out. How did she knew about Crowley ? A certain Talonflame tattled to her.

She chased him all the way into the school campus before Lucille caught up to her and return Tyrantrum into her Pokeball. Crowley did not gave her anymore chores for a short while after that. Man still remembers how he was violently shook in the air like a chew toy…

I recently acquired a female Tyrunt (who I named Sue) and a male Amaura (who I named Roux), and they're the absolute best of friends! Roux loves to playfully neck-slap Sue, and in return Sue nibbles on Roux's sails (don't worry she's very careful about how hard she bites.) I also know that Tyrantrum still have really tiny arms, so I'm willing to bet that once they evolve, Roux will help Sue reach the top shelf for Secret Snacks.

Sue and Roux, I love it!

I bet you’re right when it comes to them sneaking Secret Snacks, you might want to start hiding the really good snacks somewhere they’d never think to look!

Paradise AU ask: Can we get to know the OCs pls?

You. I like you. Also thank you for letting me talk about this.

Note: some of these OCs are not mine. I will be sorting OCs based on the significance of their role.

(Mine) Overlord Faye - Faye acts as the Overlord of Johto's Raider Kingdom. With her Tyrantrum, Rex, she crushes any hope of rebellion. She is met in Galar, posing as a member of Team Rocket to determine if her kingdom should attack the region while it's contested. She can serve as the primary antagonist or faction leader during Johto's main campaign, depending on your choices before starting the DLC. She also serves as a companion for Gordie/Allister until she vanishes (possibly with Raihan, depending on your faction) towards the end of the main campaign.

(Friend) DJ Jonah Kirim, Ms. Wyndon - The radio DJ, who reports on everything the player does. Her reactions change and you can hear her voice quiver as she reports the worst of the things the player has done. She can be encountered a few times during the story, but most of her time is spent on the radio.

(Mine) Wildfire - Personal guard of N. No matter when you encounter Team Plasma, Wildfire is N's personal guard. She is always at his side and won't let anyone get too close. Rumor has it she was raised by pokemon and barely understands human speech. It would certainly explain how she growls and bites at the PC if they get too close.

(Friend) Andee - A critically important character for both Ingo's endings. She is an engineer, and largely responsible for the repair and continued function of the Inter-Train. She serves as one of the easiest companions for Ingo, though both her and Emmet are lost during the events of Underground King. It is heavily implied that she and Ingo have feelings for each other, but the player does not need to act upon the feelings.

(Mine) Ivy - A “baker” in Subway City. She does not serve as a companion at any point, but she is a large part of Power For the Subway, as Ingo helps her build something to help feed the city. Food would pass through her, but only as quality control and to help turn it into something a little more appetizing. Ingo can encourage Emmet to be romantic with her, and she also disappears as he’s going towards Underground King.

(Friend) Quintyn, Quin - A young woman who recently “escaped” from the Legion only to end up in Wyndon’s “red light district”. After a short quest, she is rescued and brought to Milo’s family farm, where she remains for the rest of the game. Visiting often, Gordie can encourage her and Milo towards romance, but it never goes very far due to her past. Milo is patient, though. 

(Mine) Cyrille - A doctor, formerly part of the Military/Science faction. She’s now part of Sonia’s doctors, working away in an effort to find and create new medicines. She is not able to serve as a companion, but can completely heal all wounds and radiation. Recruiting her for Kabu’s personal quest earns them the start of a medical team.

(Friend) Reidar - One of the more militant people from the faction. He’s found protecting Jonah but can be recruited for Kabu’s quest after passing a few checks. He doesn’t leave until post-game, but can sometimes be heard on the radio alongside her giving some tips to people living outside of Wyndon. He can join the player for a quest from Jonah, but only if you hit certain points- You are not siding with The Legion, you have done Kabu’s personal quest, and you have more positive karma. As Allister, you have to have more Innocence than Spite.

(Mine) Adelyn - Encountered on your first visit to Hoenn, the player meets her on when the caravan they’re accompanying has been attacked by Team Magma or Aqua. Your companion reacts to how she’s fighting, and she takes you to see Steven to ask for your help. She serves as the DLC’s main companion and source of information as to what’s been going on. After completing the Hoenn DLC, if you have not completed Galar’s campaign, she can be brought back and continue serving as a companion. She and Marnie get along very well if you leave them together.

Battle; Diantha

So I decided that champion battles needed a little bit extra for... whatever reason. I think it was just that by the time I got to Cynthia’s, after writing the rest of the gym and league in Sinnoh, I needed something different.

 So they get a soundtrack! It plays during the battle and then over like. the battle gets recorded for league highlights of the year, and I guess the challengers also get a copy?

 The song I chose for this one was Pompeii as covered by Peter Hollens and Kina Grannis (except called Valé because world building, again. It’s about the... the sword city from the Victini movie?)

We stop before the door to the champion’s hall. Again.

“What’s your plan, Blue?” Brith asks quietly. “For that gardevoir, especially if she does the power thing again.”

“You are.” I glance at her, waiting.

“It’s a psychic type.”

I nod and glance over to where Soise stands, looking like a midnight lycanroc. “Soise?”

“Hi.”

“Would you be able to make Brith look like a zoroark for the battle with the gardevoir?”

Soise tilts her head and smirks, flicking out her claws like she’s stretching them. “Can do.”

“Excellent.” I grin, standing up. “Brith, whatever I say – use every steel type move you know under the sun, ok?”

Brith laughs quietly. “Clever.”

“Damn straight.”

The butler – attendant, whatever – approaches. “Same tune as yesterday?” he asks, referring to his chart. “Heading for the Light, Traveling Wilburys?”

I shake my head. “Valé – but not the Bastille version.”

“Oh?”

“Peter Hollens and Kina Grannis. If you have it.”

He nods. “We will see.” He marks it down and leaves us.

“Slightly better choice of songs,” Brith murmurs. “Maybe.”

“Oh, hush.” I wrinkle my nose.

As the massive doors swing open before us, I run a hand through my fringe and across my scar. Vulp and Soise run ahead of us, and up the stairs into the box.

“Stay down here. I’ll call – Khar, ok?”

Brith nods.

“Fight well.” I wave and ascend the stairs to the box.

Diantha waves to the crowds as they cheer us. “You are back, NightGale.”

I nod. The music starts.

Eh-eh-o eh-o

“Champion Diantha!”

Eh-eh-o eh-o

I stand firm. “I challenge you to a battle!”

Eh-eh-o eh-o

“Challenge accepted, Captain.” Diantha smiles and releases the hawlucha to glide down onto the pitch.

Eh-eh-o eh-o

I release Ray. “Electric Terrain!”

Eh-eh-o eh-o

The ground glows yellow and the hawlucha screeches, flapping wildly to avoid landing.

“Flying Press!”

It circles upwards and dives towards Ray.

Eh-eh-o eh-o

“Wild Charge!”

Ray steadies himself on the ground, growling as the hawlucha dives.

I was left to my own devices

The hawlucha comes low enough and Ray leaps, outlined in electricity. The hawlucha can’t pull out quickly enough and Ray catches her, slamming her down into the ground with a snarl and a crackle of electricity.

Many days fell away with nothing to show

“Plaie-Croix!”

The hawlucha lashes out at Ray’s nose and he releases her, wrinkling his nose as he grunts in pain.

“Discharge!”

And the walls kept tumbling down.

The hawlucha struggles back into the air, moving slowly. Electricity lashes out after it, bringing it down.

In the city that we love

Diantha returns the hawlucha with a nod, sending out her goodra. I return Ray, letting out Yen.

“Exploforce!”

Ah fuck. What was that again?

Great clouds roll over the hills

The goodra is focusing energy.

“Snarl!”

Yen crouches amongst the electric ground and snarls at the goodra. The goodra shivers and releases its energy in a massive blast.

Bringing darkness from above

Yen leaps out of the way as the blast hits the ground, sending up a huge cloud of dust.

“Taunt!”

Yen barks in delight and wags his tail, laughing at the goodra as it tries to turn around.

But if you close your eyes,

“Ocroupi!”

Water is pulled from the grates and crackles as it hits the electricity, dissipating it. Yen yelps and darts forward to bite the goodra, shaking it viciously from side to side.

Does it almost feel like

“Exploforce!”

Yen leaps away as the goodra lashes out at him, barking in delight again.

“Dracochoc!”

The goodra expels a massive burst of energy and Yen yelps.

Nothing changed at all?

I return Yen as I see him collapse onto the ground. “Ice Shard!”

Glace appears in a burst of ice and a chilling cry, diving for the goodra.

“Exploforce!”

But she’s too late in calling the attack, and ice cuts at the goodra repeatedly as Glace lands and keeps out of sight.

And if you close your eyes,

Diantha returns the goodra and sends out her aurorus. “Fatal-Foudre!”

I return Glace before the lightning strikes, sending out Arc, who slams forward and launches herself at the aurorus’ side, snapping up at its neck.

“Mur Lumière!”

Does it almost feel like

“Bulldoze!”

Arc darts away as the aurorus sets to defend itself, and the ground starts to shake as she turns about on one foot, charging towards the aurorus with an aura of fire growing.

“Protection!”

You’ve been here before?

The aurorus throws up another screen for protection, just before Arc hits him in an explosion of fire, and there’s a grinding of rocks.

“Blizzard!”

Ice whips up around them and Arc howls, fire ripping to battle.

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

I grip the barrier, watching. Soise sits at my feet, perfectly at ease. Wish I could share that.

Diantha laughs. I offer her a thin smile, and see my scar stark against white skin as the cameras zoom in on my face.

The blizzard dies down and we see – oh, we see. Arc is standing on top of the aurorus, teeth in its neck as she growls quietly.

It’s my turn to laugh now, and Diantha returns the aurorus. Arc pads back towards me.

And then there’s a roar and the ground shakes, Arc yelping in alarm.

We were caught up and lost in all of our vices

I return Arc as the tyrantrum erupts from the pitch, rubble swirling through the air.

“Glace, you’re up!”

In your pose as the dust settled around us

“Blizzard!”

“Fracass'Tête!”

The wind whips up with ice as Glace whistles it through, and the tyrantrum charges towards her. She stands firm. It gets closer.

And the walls kept tumbling down

The room was shaking with each thumping step, and Glace still didn’t budge.

I close my eyes. “Ice shard!”

Glace shrieks in a voice like howling gales, and the thumping stops with an almighty crash that sends me falling backwards. I yell out and roll onto my front, getting back to my feet. The tyrantrum is glaring at me. Not good.

In the city that we love

Glace whistles from its back and stretches over its head, tapping its nose. It snarls, shaking its head.

“Mâchouille!”

The tyrantrum throws its head back, tossing Glace into the air.

Great clouds roll over the hills

“Hail!”

Glace whistles and the hail lands first, slicing down the tyrantrum’s throat. It roars and snaps its mouth shut, staggering backwards. It disappears in a red flash. I return Glace with a soft smile.

“Hantise!”

Bringing darkness from above

Vulp leaps down from beside me with a growl, fire following her paws. The gourgeist appears beside her, bowling her over. Vulp snarls and retaliates with a terrific blast of fire.

“Captivate!”

Vulp instantly stops snarling and curls her tails around her body, flicking her torn ear as she looks up at the gourgeist with big eyes.

“Canon Graine!”

But if you close your eyes,

“Fire Blast!”

The gourgeist spins itself around, beginning to send seeds shooting everywhere

Does it almost feel like

Vulp leaps forward with a yowl, tails flaring out a net of fire behind her. She lands on the other side of the gourgeist, letting the fire land on it. It squeals, shrieking in pain.

Nothing changed at all?

She returns the gourgeist, sending out the gardevoir. Here we go.

“Khar!” I nudge Soise.

And if you close your eyes,

Soise sits up as Brith runs out onto the pitch, in the guise of a zoroark.

Does it almost feel like

Diantha raises an eye. “Pouvoir Lunaire!”

“Night slash!”

Brith-as-zoroark lunges forward and rolls under the fairy attack, slamming her paw up and across the gardevoir’s chest. It shrieks and staggers back.

You’ve been here before?

Diantha holds up her arm, the bracelet on it obvious as her sleeve falls back. The gardevoir’s necklace reacts to it – hags, why didn’t I get Yen to steal it? – and she swirls, changing form.

“Foul Play!”

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

Brith charges forward again and catches the gardevoir, throwing it backwards onto the ground. It cries out, sending out a psychic blast.

The illusion, of course, is unaffected. But there’s a thud against the ground, a plume of dust. Not so good.

Soise bares her teeth in a silent growl, head poking through the railings to keep a better eye on things.

How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

“Calm Mind!”

The illusion bows its head, paws pressed together.

Diantha is frowning, the gardevoir not watching the zoroark but where the dust had plumed up.

“Psyko!”

Eh-eh-o eh-o

Oh, she knew. Fuck.

“Night Daze!”

Eh-eh-o eh-o

Diantha laughs. “I know your little trick, NightGale,” she calls across.

The gardevoir – resplendent in its ballgown – throws an arm out to where I thought Brith had landed.

Eh-eh-o eh-o

The zoroark illusion slams its paws into the ground, ripping dark spiralling shadows through the air towards the gardevoir.

Eh-eh-o eh-o

And even though it’s just an illusion, it really shouldn’t be hurt by it – the gardevoir is thrown backwards, head over heels through the air.

What? I glance down at Soise, who smirks and cackles, paws dancing like she’s guiding an orchestra.

Oh where do we begin?

The gardevoir struggles to its feet.

The rubble or our sins?

“Psyko!”

Oh where do we begin?

It swirls a paw through the air, and I can see the energy now, see it coalescing. We had no chance. Maybe Yen –

Brith appears, kneeling as if to propose, or give her loyalty, and slams both paws – spikes shimmering – into the gardevoir’s waist.

The rubble or our sins?

It stumbles backwards and collapses, ball gown fading. We had won.

Arthur’s team is a little more eclectic at first glance, but ultimately I think they do make sense to be who he has with him. For him I thought of pokemon that might seem tougher or more noble or impressive as kind of the basic search item, rather than by type. This led to a mix here of dragons, psychic and water types.

Dragonite: “Despite its bulky build, Dragonite is capable of flying faster than the speed of sound. It can circle the globe in sixteen hours, traveling roughly 1,556mph (2,505km/h), or about three times the speed of an average airplane. A kindhearted Pokémon with human-like intelligence, Dragonite shows signs of altruism: it is said to save humans from drowning and lead lost or foundering ships to safety.” I thought a rare pokemon like Dragonite would be such a solid choice for Arthur. I also liked that it has human intelligence and the tendency toward altruism. I think that’s something that would draw Arthur to it and vice versa. I also feel that Dragonite appeared to be one of the more noble/impressive pokemon in the OG anime and that was sort of what helped make the choice here.

Tyrantrum: "the Despot Pokémon. Using its jaw, Tyrantrum can rip through thick metal. In times past, it was considered unbeatable.” What appeals to me most about Arthur having a Tyrantrum is the fact that it had to be brought back through a fossil, in the same way Arthur was brought back via magic. I think that connection is cool, and honestly dinosaurs/dino pokemon are awesome concepts. 

Lugia: “It is said that a light flutter of its wings is capable of causing winds powerful enough to tear down cliffs. If it were to flap its wings, it could hypothetically spawn storms lasting as long as 40 days. It is highly intelligent, and because of the devastating power it could accidentally inflict, it isolates itself deep underwater and tends to sleep in solitude.” An isolated pokemon that’s incredibly powerful? I think there’s something impressive about Lugia, and that it would vibe well with Arthur who tends to be a very solitary figure himself. The two would bond well and be a little happier with each other around.

Alakazam: “Alakazam is able to use all forms of psychic abilities. The overflow of its psychic powers can cause headaches to those nearby. These powers are used to move its body, as opposed to its weak muscles. It also uses its psychic powers to hold up its head, which is too heavy to be supported by its neck. Due to its continually growing brain its head becomes larger with age. It is said to have an excellent memory and can remember everything that it has experienced since hatching as an Abra, and has an IQ that exceeds 5,000. It is found in urban areas.” I don’t have a very good explanation for why Arthur should have Alakazam, except that he seems magic in a sense and his IQ is so high, and it’d be like the pokemon partner that he’d probs call Merlin.

Slowbro: I can’t even really explain why I think Slowbro is an Arthur pokemon. He just is. “Slowbro has lost the capability to feel pain due to the Shellder's poison. However, it apparently becomes inspired when the Shellder bites down on its tail.” How wild a concept is that. A pokemon that can’t feel pain anymore but gets inspired to do stuff. I just think Arthur would have a ridiculous attachment to this guy.

Poliwrath: A fighting and water type, I think he’s the tough pokemon of the crew. I feel like Arthur has Poliwrath so he can have a pokemon to work out with. That sounds super lame, but Arthur would 100 percent do that. Who needs to work out solo when you’ve got your pokemon pal with you?

Cynthia's not even there anymore to hear that beautiful chaos, there was a smash as her chair hit the back wall when she stood up, and loud thumps going down some stairs, then silence. She went to get the pizza. Meanwhile, baby Noibat was left behind, and invaded the thing that had voices coming from it. "Noooooooooooi."

Steven just... blinked and sat there in his seat with papers in his hand. What just happened? He opened his mouth to speak- then closed it. "...Wow, Maybe I should've given them a heads up earlier." Well, at least the Noibat kept him company while everyone else was either making a lot of noise in the background or currently away from their devices. "I hope no one broke any legs."

"KOMMO-O! NO. NO BREAK BREAKING THE PIZZA MAN BECAUSE HE SMELLS LIKE FAERIES! DOWN!" You hear more dragon roars, screaming and eventually everything becomes eerily quiet on Lance's end.

He quietly shuffles in his seat and clears his throat awkwardly. "Noibat, go make sure Cynthia didn't trip down the stairs." He asks through the mic before sitting there, completely baffled. "...Did I just witness a murder scene through an audio program?"

"Dra?" You hear a confused Dratini on Lance's side of the call, before hearing someone plop down in a chair and placing a box down near the phone. "Dra!" You can hear faint chewing and happy dragon noises.

"Nooooii!" Noibat heard that, and bravely dove from the desk to go off and search. It may have taken a minute or two, but there was activity on her mix again in a bit; Cynthia now sitting back at her desk, eating while chewing. "Mm- phowwy. Waf gettim a dwink."

"..." All he's hearing right now is chewing so he slowly lowers the volume on the sound before continuing on working. "I hope that pizza was worth the wait." He chuckles, shaking his head before shuffling through papers. "Just keep your chewing to a minimum, i'm starting to get goosebumps."

"Better than wetting yourself by having hungry dragons answering the door." The sound of happy Dratini noises overwhelmed the sound of chewing on Lance's end.

"I swear, i'll have to order from another place next time because that pizza guy is going to be scared out of his wits from those dragons of yours." He shakes his head, resisting a grin as he signs off another document and huffs to himself. "I'm not hungry right now, but thank you Cynthia. Besides, pizza grease is the last thing I need on my desk. That, and I would have to return Tyrunt to his ball if I was going to have to order anything and he gets cranky when I do that."

"...no. We're not having you pass out from hunger at your desk, Steven. One of us can and possibly will come down there, bust into your office and force feed you pizza with our mouths if you resist. "Hold on- I got this Lance." A few ruffling and shuffling noises were heard, then a pop, and a little affectionate growl from a Pokemon. Muffling commands were given and the Pokemom took off like a jetplane into the sky. "I'd open your window, Steven. Or it'll get broken down."

He blinks, taken aback for a moment before finally focusing in on what the two were saying. "I can't really coo-" Wait, open his window? The sound of a chair rolls back and a couple footsteps echo before a window could be heard being rolled up. "Cynthia..." Steven called over to the device as he looks out the window worriedly. "...What am I to expect?" He took a few steps back from the window too, just for good measure. "You didn't send your Garchomp out did you?!"

"I-... No." Little whistle from Cynthia, meanwhile her little air delivery gift arrived. Garchomp swung into the open window left for her, holding a single slice of pizza to present to the Hoenn champion. A serious depth in those eyes- he better accept her gracious gooey gift. "Eat up, Stone.~"

That's a good Garchomp... it's alright, I won't do anything rash-" ...Suddenly the audio is full of crashes and sudden aggressive growling. "...Cyn...La... Is try....to fe...me!" ...The audio is shaky and the only thing to be heard is a curious Tyrunt noise.

"Tyrunt. Watch. This isnone way you assert your dominance when you get bigger." Lance instructed over the phone, snickering bewteen pizza bites.

"...Ugh, it got pizza all over my shirt. Cynthia, your dragon was trying to feed me." A sigh, then he carefully gets up to get a plate to put the almost cheese-less pizza on it before returning to his seat. "Lance, don't think I didn't hear you either, you're teaching Tyrunt bad manners aren't you?”
