Home remedies for ant prevention

Depending on the sort of ant infestation that you have in your home, you may wish to try the following home remedies to help control the ant infestation prior to calling us:

Ants have a strong sense of smell which can affect their behaviour and the way they interact with each other. So, you could mix baking soda with sugar as an attractant and lay it near the ant’s nests in your home. Usually, the ants die after consuming this and all you then need to do is run the vacuum cleaner to get rid of the remains!

Ants do not have an affinity for copper. So, you could empty your piggy banks or coin purses and just leave some copper coins near the ants’ nests to deter them from spreading.

Be sure to look for any cracks and crevices on windows, doors and walls in your home and block these using adhesive barriers, or even chalk, to prevent ants from entering and building nests.

If the ant nest is small, you could physically remove the ants nest from your premises by placing a container filled with some wool or straw on the nest and then tipping the container now filled with the nest in a wide space, such as your garden or a grass area.

anyway this morning i heard an elvis song i'd never heard before (the benefit of him recording so much music, somehow there are always gems to be discovered) while i was frantically emptying out our entire pantry because our building has an #antproblem (spring and summer, my worst enemies for countless reasons), and it was so pretty that it instantly eased my anxiety. my reward was a cinnamon waffle. local woman in tears hearing an elvis ballad at 5am in the kitchen - i think the sun ought to print that, it's a better story.

Got an Ant problem? Don't want to use heavy chemicals? 2 cups sugar, 1 cup water, 2tblsp borax. Boil for three mins, cool and store in a bottle away from pets and kids (they think its honey). Pour small amounts near the ant trail(or in beer caps) and enjoy what happens next. #diy #antproblem #recipe
