Top Gun (1986). As students at the United States Navy's elite fighter weapons school compete to be best in the class, one daring young pilot learns a few things from a civilian instructor that are not taught in the classroom.
It was such a weird thing to watch this back-to-back with Clint Eastwood's Heartbreak Ridge. Released the same year, and both nominated at the 59th Academy Awards, they touch on similar themes of sun-soaked masculinity and patriotism, but it's infinitely more palatable (and successful as a propaganda tool) in Top Gun. I feel like that's a testament not only to the charisma of its star-studded cast, but also to Tony Scott's direction which leans into the fun and the fantasy at practically every turn. It's not really my vibe, but I get it, y'know? 7/10.

SO:
I had a dream where I was The Hulk, and I was led to this building where they were doing “shady science” and they named the building The Bruce Banner Laboratory. So of course, I got mad and said to myself, let’s wreck the joint.
So I’m hulked out and swatting aside security guards and such but I’m trying to get to the upper floors. I cram my Hulk-self into a regular elevator, but I surpass the weight limit, and the elevator isn’t working…
And then, because my brain has a weird casting department, Anthony Anderson and Mike Epps show up as security guards and say “nah, man, your big ass has to take the freight elevator”. That makes sense to me, so I make my way there. The much larger elevator takes me up to a large conference room…
Where a girl from my office irl and some stuff in a suit are waiting for me. They’re like, “you need to sit down and take some accountability for your actions”, which makes me transform back into Banner. I start to explain, “listen, I know the Hulk gets out of hand”, but then they go, “no, my real name, you don’t understand, this is serious”. They explain that not the Hulk, not Bruce Banner, actual me irl is wanted for murder.
Apparently I pretended to be the Hulk, walked into an office building shoving people and making stompy noises with my mouth, and caused general chaos and unrest.
And of course, just as I was about to wrap my head around that revelation, helicopters appeared outside and started firing a chain gun at the windows of the office. And then I woke up.
TL;DR, I had some of the best sleep of my life last night and my subconscious is a weird dude.

M3GAN (15): The moral is, 'always install an off switch'.
#onemannsmovies review of "M3GAN" (2023). #M3GAN. A fun sci-fi comedy/thriller that's doing a storm at the box office. Recommended. 4/5.
A One Mann’s Movies review of “M3GAN” (2023). The cinema has had no end of doll-like things like M3GAN to creep us out over the years. In my youth, it was a young Anthony Hopkin’s ventriloquist dummy in “Magic”. But we’ve also had “Chucky”, the antique doll “Annabelle” and that wretched clown under the bed in “Poltergeist“! Add a bit more computer gadgetry and you get Yul Brunner’s killer…

Can I just say that no one I've ever read writes the relationship between exes as well as you do (I'm still aflutter over Procedure).
So I was wondering what the exes relationships are like for other characters you write for? Are they semi-perminent in each others lives despite the split or are they 'and they never spoke again' people?
Were you looking for an answer that includes the dozens of men on my Wildly Inappropriate Chart? No, probably not.
Are you getting one? Absolutely. (Full list and breakout below the cut)

Kenniah Epps, 23 (USA May 16 2014)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Kenniah Malinda Epps was 11 weeks pregnant when she underwent a first-trimester surgical abortion at a Family Planning Associates facility. The FPA chain of abortion facilities is responsible for the death of at least 19 clients and was founded by Edward Allred, who was notoriously racist.
The abortion facility deemed the abortion successful and sent Kenniah on her way without registering any complications. Even then, Kenniah was severely injured.
By the next day, Kenniah was in extreme pain and bleeding so badly that she had to be rushed by ambulance to a hospital. She was given morphine for her high levels of pain and couldn’t urinate. A catheter was placed and her urine was found to be bloody. As doctors struggled to keep the young mother alive, they discovered that she had pancytopenia from extreme blood loss and an enlarged uterus.
The doctors at the first hospital realized that Kenniah needed a higher level of care than the hospital was equipped to give, so she was transferred to another hospital. She arrived with tachycardia and her mental state was noticeably deteriorating until she became unresponsive.
Kenniah needed to be intubated and never regained the ability to breathe on her own. Even the resources of two hospitals weren’t enough to save her and she went into cardiac arrest and died on May 16. A 2-year-old girl was left without a mother.
The autopsy was horrifying. Kenniah died of exsanguination/severe internal bleeding. The abortion damaged her uterus extensively, causing massive blood loss. 100cc of blood was found in each pleural cavity along with 250cc of blood in her abdomen. Acute endometritis and myometritis rapidly set in at the injury site.
Kenniah’s partner, parents, friends and 2-year-old daughter were left reeling from her sudden death. For them, nothing would ever be the same.
(Kenniah’s autopsy report)

Jill Wagner has booked another holiday movie for Great American Family.
The star of A Merry Christmas Wish and Christmas Miracle For Daisy will join Paul Greene (I’m Glad It’s Christmas, When Calls the Heart) in the new original movie Bringing Christmas Home. The flick will premiere as part of the network’s annual Great American Christmas franchise, which returns October 20 with original movie premieres Saturdays and Sundays.
In Bringing Christmas Home, retired military officer, now Military History professor, Caroline Upton (Wagner) is enlisted to assist antiques store owner, Russell Carlisle (Greene) in finding the family of WWII Army officer Orin Newton before Christmas with the hope of returning precious personal artifacts – Orin’s dress uniform, medals, and a stack of love letters from his beloved Alice who waits for him back home. Epaulettes and insignia provide initial clues, though the search seems to dead end when Caroline discovers Orin was captured and listed as MIA. Caroline and Russell then search the love letters for clues as to what happened to Orin and whether he ever made it home to Alice.
Executive producers of Bringing Christmas Home are Wagner, Greene, Brad Krevoy, Amy Krell, Lorenzo Nardini, Wagner, Mike Rohl, Jameson Parker, and Susie Belzberg Krevoy. Arielle Boisvert produces. Anthony Epp, Doran S. Chandler, and Bradley Goodman are Supervising Producers.
Mike Rohl directs Bringing Christmas Home from an original screenplay written by Casie Tabanou and Alison Spuck.

Friendship Evolves: M3GAN Review
Tumblr media
Pictured above is the M3GAN” poster.
Image credit: Universal Pictures, BlumHouse Studios, Atomic Monster Productions
This review is going to be a little different because I usually review the theatrical version of the movies I cover, but for todays review I’m going to be reviewing the Unrated version of M3GAN as that was the version that was going to go to theaters before it got toned down to a PG-13 rating. I’m so excited that they released this version of M3GAN so soon after making $171.2 million in the global box office. So, lets get straight to the spoiler-free review.
M3GAN is a 2023 science fiction horror film directed by Gerard Johnstone, Written by Akela Cooper (Malignant (2021)), Produced by James Wan (who also directed Malignant (2021),and Jason Blum. The soundtrack is done by Anthony Willis. The cast involves Allison Williams as Gemma, Violet McGraw as Cady, Ronny Chieng as David, Amie Donald as M3GAN, Jenna Davis as the voice of M3GAN, Brian Jordan Alvarez as Cole, Jen Van Epps as Tess, Stephane Garneau-Monten as Kurt, Lori Dungey as Celia, Amy Usherwood as Lydia, Jack Cassidy as Brandon, Michael Saccente as Greg, Samson Chan-Boon as Officer Carter, Kira Josephson as Ava, Renee Lyons as Holly, and Arlo Green as Ryan.
The Plot:
M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a lifelike doll that’s programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by Gemma, a brilliant roboticist, M3GAN can listen, watch and learn as it plays the role of friend and teacher, playmate, and protector. When Gemma becomes the unexpected caretaker of her 8-year-old niece, she decides to give the girl an M3GAN prototype, a decision that leads to unimaginable consequences.
Positives:
One positive I have about the movie was the cast and the use of the character of M3GAN. An example of the use of M3GAN was the descent from a protective friend to an obsessive, psychotic, and cold-blooded killer…. who dances which had me laughing. I really liked the relationship of Cady and Gemma as they bond over time and how the bond they built pays off in the third act of the movie.
Tumblr media
Pictured above is the M3GAN dance scene (which is already a meme)
Image Credit: Universal Pictures, BlumHouse Studios, and Atomic Monster Productions
The second positive I have about the movie is how they nailed the tone; it is campy but at the same time it is scary as hell considering the technology we have now. It also discusses the dangers of technology while not being too preachy.
Tumblr media
The third and final positive I have about the movie is the kills as it is bloody in the unrated version while kills in the PG-13 version happened offscreen and bloodless. The kills are pretty creative whether its with a power washer or a paper cutter, the movie (Unrated version) doesn’t hold back on the blood. While it’s not as bloody as “Terrifer 2” or the “Saw” franchise, some of the scenes are horrific.
    Negatives:
The first negative I have about this movie is that I wish we spent a little bit more time with evil M3GAN. Evil M3GAN shows up at the halfway point of the movie, but that’s alright as it pays off. The second negative I have is some of the acting was questionable at some points, however it’s okay as it matches the campiness of the movie.
My overall thoughts:
After watching the unrated version of M3GAN, I believe releasing the unrated version a month after the PG-13 was released was a smart move considering the success of the PG-13 version. In saying that however, I believe this is the version that should have been released in theaters. If you are into killer doll movies or movies that deals with the dangers of artificial intelligence, then this is the movie for you. I found the movie to be really entertaining, darkly funny, and has rewatch value. I can’t wait until 2025 to see M3GAN 2.0
Where to watch M3GAN?
M3GAN can be watched on Peacock, Digital retailers, Blu-Ray, and DVD coming out March 21st, 2023.
What did you think about M3GAN?
Feel free to comment on this post and please keep the comments respectful.
Thank You
