Steve Murphy: Steve takes college very seriously! He’s working a national security major, with a criminal justice minor (should’ve minored in Spanish, alas), and beyond the occasional low-key hangout with beer or weed, he really isn’t looking to party, and he’s certainly not trying to fuck around. His roommate, Javi, might have something to say about that…
Donald Pierce: Pierce is absolutely in college only because of an unexpected full-ride scholarship, and he throws himself into his mechanical engineering program headfirst. He’s having so much fun in classes and in the lab, the only time his roommate sees him is when he staggers in at 3AM after losing track of time in the pneumatics lab. He’s talkative but not terribly social, and his professors either adore him or think he’s a massive pain in the ass.
Cap Hatfield: Cap gets into an environmental science program, and has a really good time! He’s not as climate focused as some of the other students, but he’s really into nature preservation and he also loves the field trips they take to analyze soil samples or check out the local fish hatchery. Despite his major, most of Cap’s friends are actually in the fine arts program - he’s always had a knack for finding those types of groups!
Clement Mansell: He absolutely thinks he’s gonna be a music major, but he flunks out of music theory and drives all his vocal coaches insane. He kind of accidentally stumbles into art history, but once he’s there, he’s in love. He’s so hooked by the course material, and the summer trip to Rome some of his classmates and professors take is the best experience of his life. It’s genuinely impressive he’s able to balance his major with the intense amount of partying he’s doing too.
The Corinthian: First off, Corinthian joins a frat. I’m sorry, but he does. He wants to be surrounded by horny young men 24/7. Keep in mind - not all frats are created equal! There are some that are less compulsively heterosexual… although let’s be real, Corinthian is sososo into the weird psychosexual hazing/initiation rituals they do during pledging. (For any non-American followers, this stuff is not a Hollywood myth - it really does happen, and it’s genuinely kinky as hell.) For his major, Corinthian gets into an anthropology program. He loves studying humanity and culture in all its forms!
Eli Klaber: He takes psychology because he correctly assumes it’s the easy major (I can say this, I coasted through my own psych major, 10/10 would recommend), but he’s so invested in the Psychology of Gender elective he takes that he actually ends up doing a whole gender studies minor.
Danny Maguire: His dad pushes him towards a business degree, which he loathes, but endures because his dad’s paying for university, plus his ritzy off-campus apartment. He ends up getting really into film studies though - it’s not enough for a second major, but he ends with a minor in it.
Vic Owen: He starts off with something like sociology, because he thinks it’ll be easy, but when he discovers his college actually offers an equine studies major, oh boy, he’s switching gears so damn fast. He spends his weekends working in the barns, and for some extra pocket cash he sells off Ritalin and Addy to his classmates.
Ty Shaw: He comes in on a football scholarship, and doesn’t really have to try, but he wants to make the most of it, and ends up going into a history major because he just finds it wildly compelling. He starts off with American history, ’cause it just feels like the thing to do, but pretty quickly starts to gravitate outwards. By the end, he’s got a degree in Asian studies. He’s a total partier too, and he goes through so many boyfriends and girlfriends. Some of their sexy amateur pornos are still on Reddit to this day!

It is a question that has come up way too many times in their time spent together. They discussed the possibility of being rich in that shabby pub during the humid and sticky night before the heist. They talked about it again, after the heist, when they nearly lost Redfly on the mountain ridge, nerves on edge with two hundred million on their backs. They ended up splitting the stolen money five ways. Each gets a share, which is forty million US dollars: Tom "Redfly" Davis, William "Ironhead" Miller, Ben Miller, Francisco "Catfish" Morales, and of course, last but not least, himself, Santiago "Pope" Garcia.
Ben got the Ferrari he always wanted. Tom deposited a quarter of his money into the college fund for his girls. William was finally rid of the horrific job of giving the same speech to uniformed men and women, now investing in a gun range. Francisco spends a couple of hours a day in some aviation club, working as a coach. He owns the entire hanger and all the iron birds inside.
Santiago ... Santiago hasn't done anything with his money apart from getting a flat and buying a new car.
So, the question now is specifically targeting him. Now that the five men are watching football from the latest model of a flat-screen TV in Tom's living room.
"What are you going to do with your share, huh Santi?" Frankie repeats with a shit-eating grin.
"Dunno." Santiago takes a sip of his beer, avoiding the scrutinizing gaze of his four closest friends, smoothing his gray strands with his other hand, "I'll figure something out. But enough of me, I heard your Tess wanted to be a doctor?"
There's only one of them who has a family: Tom.
Tom was two inches away from getting shot in the forehead up on the Andes.
Tom chuckles, "That's my bright girl, alright. Takes up after her mom, thank the Lord. Still, the tuition for Pre-med is a bitch. Speaking of, could you pick her up from her AP tutoring at five thirty? It's in a studio near the real estate agency I used to work for. I had other plans for Molly at six."
Ben whistles after one too many beers, "Getting your wife back, nice."
William punches his younger brother Ben in the shoulder.
Tom shakes his head with a small smile, "Can't keep my hopes up though. But Tess - you can pick her up for me, right?" He turns to Santiago for confirmation.
"Sure, bud." Santiago clicks his beer bottle with his former team captain.
Approximately two hours later, you catches his eye when Santiago drives to the tutoring studio to pick up Tess. A pencil in your ear, a load of books in your arms. Your cuffs faded into a lighter shade than the outfit, one of your sleeves resewn, tighter and shorter compared to the other one, the side of your hand smudged in pencil dust, waving Tess goodbye.
"Hey, Uncle Santiago!" Tess pipes up, sliding into the front seat of his sleek black sedan.
"Hey, Tess. Who's that?" Santiago lifts his chin at the girl - you - at the bus stop.
"Oh! That's my tutor for AP Chemistry. She works for this tutoring studio but she's actually a brilliant grad student in the Med School. It's her second year in the PhD program. She works on this really cool project called ..."
As the young teen's voice fades into the background, Santiago pulls his car out from the parking lot. The question that has been haunting him ever since the planning of the heist pops into his mind.

Kyle Rayner just landed his dream job. He's the new Art Instructor at the brand new Greenhill High. His boss takes him around the campus and he meets one of the other faculty members.
Kyle’s grateful for the time Principal Lance has taken out of her day to show him around the enormous campus and help him get acclimated. For a small suburb outside of Star City, Greenhill boasted an enormous campus at its high school.
He had felt trepidatious the day of his interview as he parked his Camry in the visitors lot located between a nine-hole golf course and a domed football stadium. Much like a luxury apartment complex, he had to be buzzed in by a security guard. When the big double doors opened, he entered a foyer that looked more like it belonged in a concert hall. The next set of doors were flanked by a box office and the guard station. When Kyle opened that second set of doors and saw the two million dollar theater he was floored.
“Wow,” he breathed, looking at the ornate auditorium; still as striking as the first time he had seen it.
“Mr. Queen personally oversaw every detail. In a lot of ways, this is his school. That theater is his baby,” Principal Lance says proudly.
“Some kind of investment project?” Kyle asks, a bit suspicious.
“He’s invested in the students and their futures. We’ve lost a lot of small schools outside of the city. Some classrooms are cramming as many as sixty kids to a room. We’ve got room for them all here.” Principal Lance pauses, sharp eyes sweeping the gorgeous theater. A small group of students are following a middle aged instructor as he explains the complicated system of pulleys that control the movement of the curtains. “We’ll catch up with Mr. J’onzz during his office hours. Follow me.”
Kyle follows his new boss through the wide hallways, peeking into the large classrooms. Some are fairly spartan; rows of tables and seats, overhead projector, long stretches of dry erase boards. Other rooms are well stocked, colorful, inviting. It looks more like a private college than a public high school.
“The uh, library is kinda small,” Kyle remarks. Principal Lance turns to the room with its short shelves and colorful carpets. The far corner is full of smiling, brightly colored stuffed animals.
“Oh, that’s our Early Childhood Development center. Mr Harper brings children from elementary schools and even orphanages here for story time and puppet shows.”
“That’s really cool!”
“I think you’ll be really happy here, Mr. Rayner.”
“You can call me Kyle.”
“I do insist on the formality. It helps the students build character,” Principal Lance smiles.
“Oh, right. Yes, ma’am.”
“Speaking of the events for our students, there is someone I’m excited to introduce you to. You’ll be working with Coach Gardner to develop your Art Therapy program.”
Kyle’s eyes widen and his heart soars. This must be a dream. “I’m sorry, Coach Gardner?”
“That’s right. Our football coach has a background in psychology. His experience and insights with individuals with behavioral support needs has been invaluable.”
“Oh, that’s awesome,” Kyle lies. He pictures some meathead jock trying to tell him what to do. He’s awash with memories of fistfights, stolen lunches, and slurs.
They round the next corner and head down a long hallway. At the end, a set of large glass doors lets s good amount of sunlight in and Kyle can smell fresh cut grass. A blue sign on the wall indicates the locker room to the left and stadium seating to the right. Principal Lance’s cell phone rings.
“Excuse me, Mr. Rayner I have to take this. Coach Gardner’s office is at the back of the locker room. Are you comfortable introducing yourself?”
“Yeah, no problem.”
“So sorry, I’ll be just a moment.” Principal Lance ducks into one of the classrooms to answer her phone, leaving Kyle to stew. He looks down at his feet and sighs. He’s not the smallest sixth grader anymore and this guy has his job to think about too. Maybe he’s nice. Probably dumb, but everyone here has been really nice and focused on the kids so far. The job posting said Batchelor’s required but Master’s preferred so maybe he was one of those rare smart jocks.
Kyle steels himself and pushes the door to the locker room open. No time like the present. As he enters, he hears two muffled voices and he stops.
“Well, I don’t wanna freak ya out comma but, when ya let a cut like this go for tew long, ya actually can’t get stitches. So we’re gonna patch ya up. If ‘at bleedin’ don’t stop, we gotta take yew to a real hospital, okay?” a grown man’s voice speaks softly with an odd accent.
“I can’t,” says a child’s voice.
“Was’wrong? Scared? I’ll go with yew.”
“No, you don’t understand.”
“Wha’don’t I understan’, buddy? Yew know yew can tell me an’thin.” Kyle cringes. Is this guy trying to talk around a jawbreaker?
“They’re gonna ask questions, Guy. If I say too much, they’ll figure it out.”
Kyle peers around the lockers. A stocky, thirty-something redhead is kneeling in front of a lanky young boy—maybe fifteen. A bloodstained towel rests on the bench where the boy is sitting. The redhead is cutting a length of gauze and wrapping it around the boy’s bloody knuckles.
“Aw, you an’ Bobby been friends your whole lives,” Kyle parses out the man’s words around the accent, “He’s the smallest kid in your class. It’s not surprise you’d stick up for him.”
