hiiiiii! ugh, i am not sure if you take requests? but if you do, can i ask you leona one, where reader is the descendant of scar, and afterglow savanna always treats her like shit, thinking she will try to kill farena or leona?? idk tbh the dynamic between her and others, but maybe with a prompt "why are you keep protecting me?" "because if anyone kills you it will be me?" BUT NOT ANGSTY MORE LIKE CHEESY ONE like she is joking she has no plans to do so!!
(also maybe she is friend with azul bc both of them manipulative masterminds idk)
A/N: that's actually sounds so fun. i am genuinely invested, though, i had never thought that someone will ask me to write something. but, oh, darling, thank you. i would love do that more, so if anyone wants, i am open to your ideas.
LEONA KINGSCHOLAR × READER, WHO IS SCAR'S DESCENDANT
warnings: not detailed mention of blood and some threats with mentions of gore? it is lighter than it sounds.
Hatred followed you from a very young age. And it wasn't necessarily yours.
You were six, when you learned to understand that kindness will not help you survive. But cruelty will.
Abandoned, throwed away, you were nothing in the world of kings and queens. Your whole existence were cursed from the day you made your first breath, and no one was going to tell you why. Why you were so hated by the whole country, by every single person in your motherland? Why your mother turned away from you? Why you were considered to be dangerous?
But the more you grew, the more you understood that it is for the better. Their hatred, their suspicion, their rage. It made you the independent person. The predator.
And you were fine with that.
At some point, you stopped caring about what all of them thought. Instead, it filled you with even more power to move forward.
And so you survived. Proudly, with chin up to the sky, ignoring the way others treated you.
Savannaclaw wasn't necessarily bad, though. You thought it will be; Farena Kingscholar never being kind to you, and his kingdom therefore, too. But Savannaclaw was different. There, your only king was Leona. And Leona didn't care whose descendant you were.
If anything, he never even took it seriously.
”Why the fuck I would care about that cursed king?” He spitted it out once, as Ruggie asked him in what he thought was a whisper, as you passed by. ”Stupid lion is dead for a long time. Why would she care about him, even?”
And that was it. Savannaclaw never acted like you were enemy, no one glared at you with participation, no one was suspicious about your every single world.
You were free.
And the freedom you had gained, finally, made your loyalty to Leona stronger.
So, you didn't really like, when someone offended him.
It was your job to annoy him, to try break his trust towards you by cynical remarks—”oh, my King, you shouldn't trust me with your nephew. What if I tear him apart?” or ”Tsh, tsh, little lion... Haven't your brother told you? You shouldn't really turn your back to the hungry animal,”—even if he never cared.
And if someone tried to steal your job... Well, that would be really-really bad.
”Remind me once again,” you yawned, throwing a grape in your mouth, ”why I am not allowed to fight that Pomfiore boy for you?”
Azul chuckled.
”You got almost expelled twice, tigerfish. I am flatted that you are willing to try it for me, too, but I have more interesting ways to get my revenge.”
Azul was probably the strangest friend you ever had—and you had the only one, who was Jack—but it wasn't necessarily bad. He always got you involved in his plans, and as both of you were thinking about this or that in complete solitude, scheming and laughing, you thought it actually was nice.
”I caught him applying foundation on his face a week ago,” you share with him quietly. ”On the whole face. And let me say, he is not that perfect without it, Zul.”
He gasped dramatically.
”And that after interview, where he says he hates unnatural beauty?!”
”Mhm.”
”Tigerfish, you are so cruel,” he smiled. ”I love it.”
”Sure you are,” your ears moved by itself and you turned your head on the right. ”Do you hear that?”
Voices. Very loud, very angry voices. Usually, you would ignore that, but it was a familiar scent that made you move forward, ignoring Azul's question.
”Are you fucking insane, Hunt?”
”Oi, oi, I only cared to see if you would react immediately!”
You groaned.
Fucking Pomfiore kids.
As you stepped closer, your annoyed expression shifted to a worried one. There was a crossbow in Rook's arms, and Leona was holding an arrow is his hand, face angry.
So, it was it: little hunter tried to hunt Leona down.
Before he acknowledged your presence, you moved forward, raising Rook by his collar, right from behind.
”Don't get frightened, little one,” you said, voice, despite a smirk, vicious. ”I only cared to see if you would react immediately.”
Leona scoffed.
”Aha, how nice! Jolie Lionne! Had you came to save your pretty prince from the trouble?”
You frowned.
”He is the king, hunter.” Your turned him to face you properly, still leaving him hanging in the air. ”Listen to me, sweet human, the next time I see you trying to shoot him, I will scratch your eyes with my claws, and eat them in front of your fake housewarden. And then, I am going to make a feast. Do you hear me?”
His face scrunched for a second, but he put his usual smile on the face rather quickly.
”My, my... We were merely playing! But, fine, fine. As you wish, jolie lionne!”
You freed him, and this time he was rather quick with leaving.
Other students shun you actively, so it wasn't surprising. Beyond Savannaclaw, Azul, and, well, Lillia Van Rouge, other either ignored your existence or avoided you in fear. You had one the hell of the reputation, and your own attitude never helped to fix the damage that rumours left on you.
”I didn't ask you to do that,” Leona clicked his tongue, moving to your right side.
”You never do,” you shrugged. ”I don't really care.”
Maybe it was the fact that you never denied his power, never looked down at him, that helped him to make a peace with the fact that you were so eager to protect him. Because, well, in the beginning, he thought it was offensive.
”You are so fucking strange that, do you know that?” You repeated your previous action, and he continued. ”If I were you, I would love to kill me. And my brother. Especially him. But you keep doing that. Keep guarding me like a lapdog. Why?”
Why?
You wondered about it too, once. But the answer came easily to you.
It was a boy with unusual scar on his young face that stared at you without hatred the first. Simply stared, without any particular emotion, and handed you a little red flower, before leaving.
And though, he probably didn't remember it...
It was still him, who looked at you without despise in his eyes, when both of you grew up, meeting here and there, as your presence should have been always controlled and seen by the royal family.
And it was him, who made Savannaclaw respect you, as he joined this school, a year later than you did.
It was always him.
”Having trouble with creating another lie?” He smirked, moving to stop in front of you, clearly disliking the fact that you ignore his presence.
”You want to know why, Leona?” You tilted your head, meeting his curious eyes. "Because I consider you to be the King, more than your brother ever will, and therefore, I should protect you.”
Before he opened his mouth, you caught him by the chin, moving him closer. He stared at you, not annoyed, but quite lost by this action. Your eyes shimmered with a familiar hunger that always lived inside you.
A hunger for fame. Acceptance. Peace. Blood. Cruelty.
Love.
”And because,” your lips brushed the corner of his, as you breathed out on his cheek, ”if anyone ever tries to rip out your golden heart, my King, it is going to be me.”
His lips curled in a same wicked smile that played on your face.
And as his arms fall on your hips, he accepted the game.
”What a coincidence,” his whisper came out like a purr. ”Because if ever try to rip our my heart, my dear Consort, I will allow it to you.”
A laugh that escaped your chest sounded so taunted that others would find it scary.
But you know Leona didn't. In fact, he enjoyed it very much.
And both of you had a very long journey to find out what else you enjoy about each other. Gladly, you had plenty of time for that.

Don’t know if you are taking requests but maybe battinson and reader doing their mbti test, and reader getting a villain personality.
lmfao
pairing: battinson!bruce wayne x gn!reader. cw: implied sexual content but no body parts mentioned. words: 894.
a/n: gratuitous amount of italics here. not sorry. implied sub!bruce but that's not what this is about. also, anon, guess who ELSE has a villain personality type according to google :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
who's gonna tell him
Tumblr media
You probably know he’s not really listening. With the wrench between his teeth, fingers straining to reach into the void of his engine and find where the Batmobile had gone unresponsive, he’s only half present. Maybe a third at best. Still, he enunciates through the metal, already forgetting what you'd called him, “INT...C? What does that mean?”
“I-N-T-J. You’re the architect. It means you’re introverted, intuitive, thinking, and judging. You’re good at problem solving and detective work, of course. But you struggle emotionally and are prone to being… ‘socially clueless’.” From your spot in the driver’s seat, Bruce makes a show of leaning around the propped up hood just to be clear on how much he disapproves. He even removes the wrench with his oil-slick hand so he can frown properly. “I didn’t write this, babe. Don’t look at me.”
“You’re reading it to me.”
“I just wanted to know if we’d be compatible!”
He huffs, having found what ever kink in the machine he was looking for and focusing on that instead. He disappears behind the hood but his voice carries through the terminus loud and clear, “Well, are we?”
You decide to do some research.
Somewhere between Bruce triumphing over the engine and coming around to the window to gloat, he catches you staring incredulously at your phone.
“What's the verdict? Are we sworn enemies?” Your eyes dart up to Bruce’s and the longer you stare at him, picking him apart in silence, the more his smile begins to fade. For a second, he starts to think you actually might be sworn enemies. For a millisecond, he starts to care.
"I took the test." You declare, voice freakishly even. Bruce isn't smiling anymore.
"And?"
"I got ENTJ."
"And?"
"We're compatible, sure, whatever," Bruce squints, confused, because you'd been more excited to know the answer to that than he was, "but then I fell down this rabbit hole—I wanted to see who we shared personalities with—and then I found this article. Guess what we are?"
You turn your phone to him. You've pulled up a web result for “Which MBTI personality types are villains?”. In the blurb at the very top, he reads INTJ. Then he looks over at you, your eyes wide and suspicious, and he’d ask you to stop giving him that look if it wasn’t for the way your mouth starts to curl up.
You’re not suspicious. You’re impish. “We’re both villains.”
Sure enough, the other most common villain personality type is ENTJ.
Bruce thinks it’s silly, a little less silly than when you’d done his natal chart (but he’d sat and asked questions all the same, a little too invested in the bits about his childhood karma) because the quiz at least knew something about him, but silly nonetheless.
But you’re also enjoying it enough that he leans into it, feels his own lips curling up too. He folds his arms on the door and leans inside the car, casting a dark shadow over you, "I have enough bad press as it is."
You giggle. You place a hand on his forearm and squeeze, "I don't know. I think you'd be pretty sexy as a villain."
Bruce watches you through hooded eyelids and considers, for a moment, that maybe you're a little too into this. He treads the waters, wondering whether you'll show your hand. He digs through his memory for what you'd called him, the other thing that had actually stuck, “The architect and…”
“The commander.” You finish, jutting your chin up with pride.
“Sounds about right.”
“I'll be the one in control, and you'll be my pretty little mastermind making everything happen.”
“Sounds sort of right.”
“What do you mean, ‘sort of’? You’re a slave to my every whim.”
“Oh, I'm your slave now?" Bruce drops an octave with intention, delighting in your fingernails biting into his muscles. "Since when?"
Your eyes fucking twinkle. You look so excited that he fleetingly wonders if he should keep an eye on you. And he imagines you’d enjoy having him bested, kneeling at your feet as you unmask him and lean in and grin and declare, victorious- “Haven’t you always been?”
Your breath on his lips hasn’t even cooled before he’s leaning into the car and craning your mouth up to meet his, a hand at your jaw and the other keeping him propped through the window.
He imagines too, just for fun, leaning into a getaway car to celebrate a job well done, before coming around the side to jet off into the sunset. A real Bonnie and Clyde.
He feels you tugging on his shoulders and leaning back into the driver’s seat, compelling him to follow. You almost drag him fully through the window (a feat that’s only possible because he’s basically putty in your hands right now), and he grips the center console to steady himself before he falls in and crushes you, “The car’s been fixed all of two minutes and you wanna defile it already?” Bruce accuses, not actually caring in the slightest.
You’re awful. Your eyes still twinkle beneath the innocent flutter of your eyelashes, clearly still on villains and evil plans and whatever images you’d conjured up in your brain after calling him your slave. What ever happened to not mixing business with pleasure? “Come on, Batman. Don't be such a prude."

Question about your Dragon Peter Au: Who all are apart of Hobie's band of misfits? How did Hobie find/rescue Miles and what kind of misadventures do they get up to after Hobie takes Miles in? I'm very invested 👀
thanks for the Ask! I am sorry that the response took so long ;-;
The members of Hobies little group are the other Spiderkids! So its Hobie himself, Gwen, Pav, Margo and Miles.
(Peni is on Peters side in that AU, so she only comes into play later)
Tumblr media
They all have different reasons for adventuring the word, but are still happy that they found each other.
Hobie used to be an freedom fighter before Kingpin was taken down. He decided to travel the lands to share his views on freedom and the spirit of rebellion. He really doesn’t trust Peter and the way he rules the lands.
Gwen ran away from home and escaped the future that her family had decided for her after she met Hobie. Her goal is to find out who she really is. Being the daughter of the Knight commander, she is positive about Peters, since she saw how much changed under him.
Pav is in it for the Money, so he can one day marry his beloved. He met Hobie and Gwen when they broke into the same place. Since it’s always safer to travel together, he just decided to travel with them. Since he comes from another country, he really doesn’t care about peters rule.
Similar to Gwen, Margo ran away from an abusive home to see the world. She had been found by Miguel, who had freshly lost his daughter and the status as Baron, and Lyla, who was a fairy like her. They traveled together for many years, till Peter defeated Kingpin and Miguel got his title and lands back. Gwen and Pav saved her from some merchants that wanted to sell her as a Pet. She is bitter about Peter, since he took away her family.
They find Miles after they broke into one of Kingpins old Mansion, hoping to find treasures.
(Not that they didn’t find one…)
Miles didn’t really have another choice but to join them, because he had no where else to go. (Plot Conveniant Amnesia)
As for the Roles that the Kids fill:
Hobie: Leader of the Group and tactical mastermind, even if it doesn’t feel that way. Uses an Axe for battle, but would rather play his guitar.
Gwen: Cavalier of the group and the one having to carry everything. Uses Lances in battle and has some really wild dance moves.
Pav: Brawler and lockpicker of the group. Uses Knuckle rings in battle, but would rather use his hands to write letters to his Girlfriend.
Margo: Fixes broken things and uses a small needle for battles.
Miles: Healer of the group and magician. Everyone thinks that he is a elve.
As for their misadventures… its a lot.

This series has repeatedly made reference to obscure events in the Dominican Republic from 1961 to 1966 which culminated in an American military invasion. They are relatively unknown and appear murky to outsiders. They united the CIA, the non-violent section of the civil rights movement, and a group of labour movement figures with links to Norman Thomas' post-Eugene Debs Socialist Party of America, the Democratic Socialist Party of today, and the Neoconservative movement that planned the Iraq War of 2003. The next two (maybe three) parts of the series will hopefully elucidate some of these events for readers. The previous part, Part 5, can be read here.
1965 was the fifth time America invaded the Dominican Republic. The fourth was in 1916, initiating an occupation that went on until 1924. America also controlled the nation's foreign trade from 1904 to 1947, collecting 50% of its revenue by heavily taxing its people on imports in order to pay off European powers with Citibank getting a commission to do the counting. These events bookended the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo, 1930 to 1961. This resulted in a weak state unable to defend itself or the foreign corporations who wanted to invest in it.
Trujillo's government was a revolution of sorts because he directly took his methods from the mafia to govern. He'd spent years as a plantation overseer by day and gang leader by night, then joined the American-trained Dominican police and became an army officer. He learned how to use violence and manipulation to get what he wanted as well as how to pleas foreigners. In one case, he'd been sent by the occupiers to deal with a guerilla army in the interior. He was so successful that the American troops covered the reports of rapes and tortures he committed while doing so. As one of his trainers said, "He thinks just like a marine!" When the Americans withdrew, he retreated to a former castle that served as a military base, building up power until he could take advantage of a crisis and overthrow the government. Once in power, he set to creating state capacity for his rule by shaking down local industries one by one, collecting revenue and inserting loyalists into their leadership while allowing them the benefits of state backing through investment and coordination. He was so successful that he was the longest serving leader in the Caribbean's history at the time of his death.
Trujillo used a similar system of creating win-win situations to persuade American diplomats and investors to support him. He went on a charm offensive, building a tourism sector internally and using his one-time son-in-law, playboy Porfirio Rubirosa, as an ambassador and press officer. Rubirosa was not only wildly charismatic, he was also reported by Truman Capote to have an eleven inch penis. After divorcing Trujillo's daughter, he married two French actresses and the two richest women in the world back to back, making bank on his divorce settlements. Like much of the Dominican Republic's elite, he lived a charmed life, racing/crashing Ferraris and airplanes (including a B-25 bomber) internationally. Both he and his former father-in-law lived part of the year in lavish apartments in New York City, racing Ferraris and buying out brothels. Some of the money came from Dominican visas that Rubirosa sold to German Jews fleeing the Holocaust and Spaniards fleeing Franco. Trujillo had retreated there to convince the world that he had changed his ways after spearheading the massacre of tens of thousands of Haitians in his country in 1937. In the shadows he worked to mastermind a comeback, making it seem like his people organically wanted him again in the 1942 show elections. He won 100% of the vote.
Tumblr media
By 1947, the Cold War was on. Most people forget that this was a process initiated by a strong and muscular liberalism that had just defeated fascism and felt it could do the same to communism. Liberal intelligentsia in American government had undertaken a decade-long march through the institutions and created a new setup for the global economy with the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations, and Bretton Woods. It seemed to many in the Third World that America had turned over a new leaf and was ready to support democracy abroad. For the entrenched right wing forces in Latin America, however, it seemed like business as usual. Just as he had declared war on the Nazis, Trujillo now worked to find a communist menace to kill  to serve American interests. He used his agents to create a fake Marxist-Leninist party as opposition to run against him in the 1947 election. After picking up 92% of the vote, he used their supposed allegiance to Moscow to crack down on them, winning himself plaudits in Congress.
For many in Latin America, this was the last straw. In Cuba, 1200 men came together in what was termed the Caribbean Legion. Mostly exiles from Latin American dictatorships and sympathizers, they were ready to kill and die for liberalism. Some had fought in the Spanish Civil War and escaped death at the hands of the Franco regime when Trujillo had chosen to accept refugees from Europe as part of his developmental push, only to find their political allegiance was to socialism above all. They were backed by the elected leader of Cuba, Ramon Grau, who saw them as a way to topple a nearby enemy. They also pulled support from the president of Guatemala, Juan Jose Arevalo, who like his successor Jacobo Arbenz was an anti-communist liberal. Among the membership was Carlos Prio, the next president of Cuba, Juan Bosch, the most famous anti-Trujillo Dominican, Romulo Betancourt, a future president of Venezuela, Jose Figueres, the next president of Costa Rica, and a law student/basketball player at Havana University named Fidel Castro.
Figueres was a strange figure, perhaps the most fascinating of the Cold War. A plantation owner, he described himself as a "farmer-socialist". He invested his money in improving the living conditions of his workers, certain that it would make them more productive. He came to power with the help of the Legion in a very odd way, in a civil war that belongs with those pictures of Wikipedia where both sides are in odd alliances, with the right wing Nicaraguan dictatorship backing the Catholic Church and the Communist Party against Figueres' oligarch allies, supported by both America and the Guatemalan government it would later overthrow. Figueres immediately defenestrated those allies and took power for himself despite his talk of democracy, abolishing the army, nationalizing all banks, guaranteeing public education, giving citizenship to black migrants, giving women the vote, instituting social welfare, and banning the Communist Party. He helped establish the School of the Americas where the American military taught torture techniques and broke off relations with every American-backed dictator in the region. At one point, he was the subject of the only shooting war fought between different branches of the American government, when his State Department friends gave him planes to fight ones provided to Nicaragua by the CIA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Caribbean Legion would not have any other successes because it faced a classic problem of liberals during the Cold War: its membership was supportive of social reform, and that made the American government suspect they were secretly communists in disguise. The Legion had wanted to overthrow Trujillo, but the Americans convinced Grau to arrest them and confiscate their weapons. Castro managed to escape by jumping off the ship they were captured on and swimming to shore. Even as doors closed for the Legion, however, others opened. Ironically, it was another section of the American government that would save them. Their patron Figueres' liberal anti-communism had its fans in the CIA, which as an organization staffed largely by liberal WASPs from northeastern Ivy League universities felt that the combination would be sufficient to compete with the Soviets for hegemony among the Latin American peasantry. Figueres ended up on the CIA's payroll directly, codename HUMAIL. A lighter hand would be used for the Legion's membership, however.

Sweeney Warren and his relatively new boyfriend, Jack Torrance, had been going steady for about a year after Jack had become his new roommate. Before that, however, Jack had gone through a divorce with his now ex-wife, Wendy Nobbe, leading to discussions of custody and what was to be done with their young son, Danny. It was clear Wendy held little trust for Jack, no matter how hard he tried to better himself, but in his own self-loathing he agreed that he could only see Daniel on Fridays and Saturdays. Sweeney hadn’t quite grown used to it, having had no direct experience with children before Jack introduced him to Danny, but he tried his hardest to be polite and follow the young boy’s lead.
When Jack had brought Danny to their apartment one evening, Sweeney realized they were in desperate need of groceries.
“Shit. We didn’t go shopping for the kid,” he muttered to Jack in the hall while Danny set off for their living room.
“Welp. Guess we’re going shopping,” Jack shrugged before calling over Sweeney’s shoulder. “Don’t get settled in quite yet, Doc, we’ve got to run a quick errand.”
“But we just got to Sweeney’s apartment.”
“Yeah, I know, buddy, but you want to eat dinner, don’t you?”
“C’mon, I’ll get you a treat if you’re cooperative,” Sweeney added, turning to the boy. This seemed to persuade him, as he quickly went back to the door while Jack put on his boots and a leather jacket. Sweeney followed, slipping on his sneakers and grabbing a notepad and pen from the kitchen to jot down exactly what they needed.
“Everyone ready?” Jack prompted shortly after patting down his pockets to ensure he had his keys and wallet.
“Yep. Ready, Dan?”
Daniel nodded and the three set out into the night, stuffing into Jack’s Volkswagen beetle, once the colour of cherries but looking more rusty and faded nowadays. Sweeney never cared for the car and dreamed of investing in a secondhand hearse, but it wasn’t exactly a realistic goal for the time being. When Doves Cry played softly on the radio, prompting Sweeney to hum along as they passed tall streetlamps. Occasionally he glanced into the backseat, watching Danny watch the other cars on the road with vague curiosity. When they reached the grocery store, Jack wasted no time finding a cart.
“You want to help Sweeney with the list?” He prompted his son, who nodded determinedly. He looked to his boyfriend and smiled. “Lead the way, darling.”
“Alright Danny, the first thing on my list is milk.” They set off for the refrigerated aisle, making Sweeney shiver as Danny opened one of the doors for him.
“Here,” Jack said before he could reach for the milk jug, draping his leather jacket over his shoulders. “You always complain about being cold in stores, I don’t know why you don’t just bring a sweater or something… maybe it’s all a ploy to steal my jackets, now that I think about it.”
“Ah, you’ve caught me,” Sweeney placed a dramatic hand on his forehead and picked up the milk with the other. Out of the corner of his eye he caught Danny’s amused expression and smiled softly to himself. “Yes, tis I, Sweeney Warren, the great jacket thief.”
Jack gasped, matching his energy. “Doc, can you believe that? My boyfriend’s a criminal mastermind! I say we lock him up and throw away the key.”
Danny giggled, closing the refrigerator door.
“You’ll never catch me alive, copper,” Sweeney squeezed Jack’s hand playfully, “hey, Dan, if we move quickly on to the frozen aisle we might be able to leave him in the dust!”
He tapped the boy’s shoulder lightly and set off at a brisk walk to the next aisle with Danny bounding along behind him, still laughing.
“Oh, you think you’re clever, eh?” Jack called after them, pushing the cart along at a leisurely pace and grinning to himself. He was more than happy to see his son and his boyfriend getting along. After all, Sweeney was as much family as Wendy was, in Jack’s opinion. Without Jack’s help, Danny wouldn’t even have existed in the first place. He paused at the end of the aisle, gazing at a six-pack of beer. His battle with alcoholism was ongoing. After an accident involving Danny as a toddler, the incident that convinced Wendy he was a monster undeserving of forgiveness, Jack had determinedly cut back on his alcohol consumption. In fact, he considered himself practically sober. He had only broken his dry spell by drinking himself to sleep on the couch the night Wendy announced she wanted a divorce, and had split a beer with Sweeney when he first moved in…
What really tempted Jack when it came to alcohol was not only the feeling of freedom that came onto him when he drank, but the social aspect of it as well. He used to have drinking buddies. Friends. Friends that goaded him into drinking more. He hadn’t realized he had moved to open the fridge, picked up the six-pack, and dropped it in the cart, until he came around the corner and paused beside his boyfriend and son.
“There you are, I…” Sweeney trailed off, putting a frozen pizza and a box of waffles into the cart, glancing down at the beer. “Jack?”
“Hm?”
Sweeney stepped closer to him, caressing his cheek and speaking deliberately. “Is it a good choice for you to drink around your kid?”
The words shocked him into the present, making his hair stand on end. “Fuck… I-I’m sorry…”
“No, no, it’s okay. I’ll put it back. You’re okay.” Sweeney looked over his shoulder, “Danny, help your father find the cereal aisle, I’ll join you in a second.”
He tenderly bumped his forehead against his boyfriend’s and retrieved the six-pack from the cart, returning it to the refrigerator aisle. Jack watched him go, despite Danny’s nonverbal insistence that they do as instructed, gently tugging on the front of the cart. This is how he knew Sweeney was truly the one for him. He didn’t snap at him like Wendy might’ve, or suggested that he was devolving back to his old ways. He simply reminded Jack that he had choices, and his choices had outcomes. It was up to him to decide what outcome he wanted. And what he wanted was a nice night with his boyfriend and son. Sober.
“Dad…”
“I’m here, Doc. Cereal aisle, right?” Jack followed Danny through the rows of shelves until they reached it, soon joined by Sweeney.
“What kind of cereal does Wendy let him have? No, scratch that, hey, Danny, what kind of cereal do you like?”
Danny eagerly handed Sweeny a box of Cocoa Pebbles.
“Excellent choice. We won’t tell your mother,” Sweeney winked and placed it in the cart. “Do you like to watch The Flintstones?”
Danny nodded. “My favourite is Dino.”
“He’s funny, isn’t he? We need to pick up some coffee next, y’know you’re dad can’t function in the morning without it.”
Jack rolled his eyes, smiling. Once the cart was fully stocked up, they began to approach the registers.
“Do I get a treat?” Danny asked.
“I think so. You’ve done very well. Jack, what say you?”
Jack nodded. “I second that. Go ahead and pick out something nice, Doc. But no gum, alright?”
The young boy rushed forward to examine the shelves of candy just before check-out. Jack and Sweeney watched him, side-by-side.
“What’s it like, being a dad?” Sweeney asked.
“Hey, you’re getting your free trial right now,” Jack responded, wrapping his arm around his waist. “Well, it’s not this easy all the time but Wendy and I… ah, we got lucky with Danny. Sure, sometimes I think he’s a little spacey, but he’s a good kid. I’m proud that he’s mine. And hey, maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get to call him yours, too.”
“You mean, you think he’ll call me ‘dad’ someday?”
“Or some equivalent. Why not? I don’t foresee us breaking up anytime soon… right?” He pressed his nose against his boyfriend’s.
“‘Course not…” Sweeney’s eyelids fluttered. As they were about to pull into a kiss, Danny tugged on Jack’s jacket, still settled on Sweeney’s shoulders. He held up a Snickers as the two men pulled away from each other.
“Add it to the cart,” Jack instructed patiently, smirking at the flush on Sweeney’s cheeks. Even though this particular trip to the grocery store had not been much of a hassle, it was a relief to get back into the car knowing they’d be returning home with food waiting to be cooked.
“You know, there’s a video rental place not far from our apartment. You want me to skip down there while the pizza’s cooking?” Jack asked lowly, hoping to surprise Danny with a fun movie.
“That sounds fantastic, Jack. I don’t really have the energy for games so anything that’ll maybe ease Dan into bed works for me.”
“I love you.”
“I love you, too, Jack.”

The better half of the next two weeks were spent in court, ignoring the press, and sneaking away with Steve and Bucky wherever possible.
Years of unsaid words flowed between you three, and you could feel your walls being broken down day by day. You no longer apologize for the extra space your wings take up, or feel the need to soften your voice.
You’re sitting on the couch one day, entranced in an ocean documentary when Clint, Nat, and Wanda walk in, sweaty and straight from training. The latter two join you, while the archer goes to the kitchen and starts making sandwiches.
“So… Anything interesting going on lately?” the redhead asks. You shake your head.
“Not really. Been trying to catch up on everything, so-” You gesture to the TV. “Figured this was a good place to start.”
Wanda tilts her head. “Where are Steve and Bucky?”
“Yeah, I’ve rarely seen you three apart,” Nat agrees.
She wasn’t wrong. You three have been less-than-subtle these past days, even risking kisses in the living room a few times.
“They’re on a run with Sam,” you explain with a smile. “Needed to burn some energy.”
Unbeknownst to you, the three Avengers knew that. In fact, they’d made sure Sam had joined the super-soldiers on their run. They’ve noticed how strange you’ve been acting, and Nat got a bit too invested in finding out.
There’s no malicious intent, but her curiosity overpowers any guilt she’d feel for her mastermind plan. That is, to annoy the three of you until someone tells her what she already knows. She likes the confirmation.
Clint flops onto the couch next to the assassin, stacking two sandwiches and biting into both at once. The way his jaw pushes back to accommodate the ridiculous amount of food reminds you of a snake you’d seen in the previous episode.
“So, has Barnes always been that buff?” Nat hums. She quickly glances over at you to watch your reaction.
Wanda senses a twinge of jealousy that you stamp down surprisingly well. But you don’t give away any physical clues.
“Uhh, yeah,” you begin. “Used to do push-ups in our apartment while Steve and I ate breakfast.”
The redhead grins a devil’s grin, sly and only noticed by Wanda and Clint. “Bet you got a nice view of that ass.”
That makes you cough. Spluttering and bright red, the nearby lamp flickers in time with your heart. She wasn’t wrong, technically, not that you’d admit it.
“I- I never looked,” you excuse, discreetly fanning your face. She hums, but doesn’t press further.
Meanwhile, the super-soldiers are receiving the same treatment from Sam.
“Oh, come on. You two need to get back into dating eventually,” the man sighs, watching as they prickle and stumble a bit.
“I’m alright with where I am,” Steve says, careful in choosing his words. “I don’t really feel like dealing with all of the modern dating traditions.”
Bucky huffs. “Yeah, that time you made me sign into Tinder might have been the worst ten minutes of my life. Made me wish I was still getting brainwashed.”
“Buck!” Steve protests, glaring at his- Well, what was the right title? “Partner” seemed off, “boyfriend”, maybe? Nah, too childish.
“I saw too much, Steve,” the brunet laments. “Some dude had a tattoo of Stark on his-”
“Alright, I get it!”
Sam takes the opening. “Well, is (Y/N) thinking about dating?” It’s impossible to miss how they exchange a nervous glance. “I mean, she’s pretty, she’s been adjusting well. I’m sure she wouldn’t have any trouble-”
Bucky snaps first. “Ok! Ok, ok, Sam, listen.”
Steve sighs. “Buck-”
“Listen,” he continues. “You can’t tell anyone about this.”
Bingo. The Falcon feigns shock. “Oh? What’s ‘this’?”
———————————————————————
By the end of the week, Sam knows all about you three, and Nat is 98.2% sure she say you making out in the kitchen one night. The 1.8% is because she was also extremely over-caffeinated, so hallucinations were always a possibility.
Wanda’s been complaining to Clint about how “emotionally suppressed” you all are, but they think it’s sweet nonetheless.
In all honesty, you don’t really mind if the team knows. The hard part is keeping your budding relationship away from the public.
If they find out, it’ll just pile on more stress to the neverending trials. Your relationship will be grounds for more invasive questions, and you aren’t ready for that. At least, not until the trials come to a close and you either end up free or in prison.
Speaking of prison, Tony’s lawyers had finally confronted Thaddeus Ross about your treatment on the Raft.
“There was no permanent damage done to Ms. (L/N),” Ross’s lawyer argues, enunciating his words. “We knew that, due to her enhancements, she would survive the dosage.”
You say nothing but frown slightly. It had been hours of pain and nausea. Your memory from that week is foggy and jumbled. There was definitely some permanent damage.
“During her interrogations, Ms. (L/N) confessed to having blinded soldiers and burnt them with her powers. It was only reasonable to be concerned and want to minimize damages.”
“And for Mr. Barnes, we used a special set of cuffs that sent an electromagnetic pulse through his metal arm, which was enough to contain him without the assistance of sedatives.”
You bristle at the way they speak about you. Like an experiment. Like HYDRA. It turns your stomach and plants a deep unease. The way Bucky shifts on the other side of Steve reveals that he feels the same way.
The blond captain doesn’t dare to hold your hands. Not now. Not with all of the cameras and eyes. His hand twitches anyway.
You manage through the first half of the trial, but the judge’s next words make your heart drop. They’re calling a witness forward. A last name that echoes in the back of your mind.
“What is your relationship to the defendants?”
You can’t make eye contact with the man.
“They killed my dad,” he says. The courtroom goes silent.
You swallow. He continues to describe how he found the governor dead in his office, a hole burnt through his chest and a ghastly bruise on his neck.
By the time he’s done, you’re so far gone that you don’t notice your hands shaking, or how everyone’s getting up to leave.
“Hey, hey, come back to us,” Steve whispers. You blink, tears welling up as you spot the man shaking hands with Ross.
Bucky follows your gaze, only to rip it away when he realizes. He glances at his metal arm.
He hates excluding Steve, but the words slip from his tongue before he can stop them.
“Заслуживаем ли мы этого [Do we deserve this]?” This. The possibility of getting out of this mess. Of legally washing your hands of the blood, even if the stains would stick around.
A part of you, long buried since the ‘40s, says that you do. It promises that you weren’t in control, that neither of you would have done this out of your own volition.
But it’s so much easier to take the blame. If you’ve grown so used to the heavy darkness, then who will you be when it’s lifted?
And you hate that you can’t answer.
———————————————————————
It’s late that night when you finally turn in. Locking the door, you drop your covers.
You grab pajamas and tug the curtains shut, hand grazing Steve’s as he turns on the TV. Bucky’s sitting on the bed and is definitely staring at the former’s ass. Not that you can blame him.
With a knowing smile, you run a hand through his hair. You feel a presence behind you, and a kiss planted right between your wings. You sigh, exhaling the stress of the day.
“None of that was your fault,” Steve whispers. It hurts to hear. When he’s met with silence, he patiently reiterates himself. “None of it.”
“That man from the trial, I remember the… the victim,” Bucky mumbles. “He told us he had a son. Not that it did anything for him.”
Nodding, you close your eyes as the memory washes over you.
A well-dressed man kneels on an ornate carpet. Your bow is drawn. He holds up a framed picture, pleading in strangled gasps. You loose the glowing arrow as the Winter Soldier holds him up by the throat.
“Is that what you were saying earlier?” the blond asks. The Russian. Reluctantly, you translate your worries to him.
“Do we deserve this?”
It stuns him.
“Yes, you do. You deserve to heal, to be happy,” he chokes out. Steve won’t admit how horrible it is to watch the both of you like this. So worn down and unsure. You never used to doubt yourself, always confident in your skills and wants.
But now you’re blaming yourself for murders you were forced to commit.
Bucky clenches his fist. “They took so much.” There’s no need for elaboration. “We’re not the same people we were back then, Stevie. I’m sorry.”
“You don’t have to be.” He takes the brunet’s hand. “You two are everything I want and all of the reasons I want it. None of us are the same.”
Slowly absorbing his words, the three of you lay down on the large bed, arranging for Bucky to be in the middle. Normally, that’s your spot, but you’re more than willing to abdicate for tonight.
“You’re too smart for your own good,” you chuckle, kissing Steve’s forehead before burrowing into Bucky’s side. Gently running your hand over the web of scars surrounding his shoulder, you allow your powers to flow for the first time in weeks.
A dim glow travels around the veins, casting golden light on the silver prosthetic. Even the residual power calms you as you trace small circles. When the nerves are a bit less inflamed, you stop, and he takes your hand, pressing his lips to your palm.
Steve mimics his motion on his metal hand, never batting an eye when it whirs and shifts.
“Love you both,” Bucky whispers. You parrot it back, the dim light of the TV casting a blue glow on you.
The blond speaks, muffled by his pillow. “Whatever happens, whenever it happens, we’ll face it together, okay?”
You link pinkies with both of them in succession.
“Deal.”
———————————————————————
“Whatever” ended up being the final trial, and “whenever” ended up being four days from then. Tony’s legal team had dragged in a large screen and started up HYDRA footage for the jury.
Even if they’d warned you in advance, you hated watching yourself succumb to the trigger words. It was almost as bad as watching Bucky do the same.
As your screams echoed through the room, many in the jury turned away. Not that you could blame them; it was a grisly sight. Tubes stuck out of your arms and the empty look in your eyes bored through any screen or recording.
But now it was time for the final verdict. You hung on every word, wings fluttering as a representative of the jury stepped forwards.
Her opening speech flies over your head, but then, she turns to you with a small smile.
“We, the members of the jury, find the defendants-“
Ross still has a smug grin on his face, but his confidence all drops away.
“-Not guilty.”
Your hands fly to cover your mouth, eyes watering as the trial concludes. Many reporters are clapping, and the judge offers a polite nod to the three of you before exiting.
You, Bucky, and Steve are instantly in the middle of a group hug, even as Vision awkwardly hovers around.
“We can get you two to Wakanda, T’Challa promised that his sister could help with getting those trigger words out of your heads,” Tony begins, still mid-hug.
Nat rolls her eyes. “Tony-“
“And once that’s done we can get you training, and even start missions if you feel comfortable,” he continues.
The redhead grabs him by the shirt, tugging him away and ushering the rest of the team with her.
“Let the lovebirds have their moment,” she chuckles once they get far enough away.
Sam runs right into the billionaire as he stops in his tracks.
“Lovebirds? What?”
Back in the courtroom, the three of you are still soaking in what this means for you.
“What do you guys want to do first, now that you aren’t enemies of the state?” Steve asks, leaning against a bench.
“I wanna go on a road trip,” Bucky hums. “Take a break before everything goes crazy.”
You nod. “Yeah, we could go down to the Grand Canyon like you always wanted.”
“You could fly it; that’d be cool,” he agrees.
The blond shakes his head. “You two are such nerds.”
Shrugging you stand to stretch from your seat. “You love us.”
Damn you and how right you are. He does. He loves you both a lot. And maybe now he can show it.
“Yeah, and I’d love to be able to kiss you two right now.” But it’s too public, and neither of you are ready. Or so he thinks.
“What, you want to tell everyone?” Bucky asks.
Steve blushes a bit. “Well- maybe not here, at the courthouse? That seems a bit… much.”
“Since when have you been one for subtlety?” you snort. “The only way you could be more noticeable is if you wore a traffic cone on your head.”
He falls silent, and you and Bucky exchange a look.
“Listen,” the latter begins. “We’re both comfortable with it if you are.” The last thing any of you want to do is push the others over their limits.
He thinks, really thinks about it, and steels his resolve. The three of you have waited long enough. “I’m ready.”
You entwine hands with Steve in the middle, and make your way to the front doors of the courthouse. The team is waiting, and Nat, Sam, Wanda, and Clint sport knowing grins. Tony looks a bit pale.
The crowd is bigger than usual today. More signs, more cameras.
“We didn’t really map out the logistics of this, did we?” Steve whispers. Bucky, apparently done with waiting, grabs him by the collar and pulls him in.
When they part for air, the brunet whispers, “Fuck logistics,” before Steve leans to kiss you, gently holding your face in his hands.
The crowd only screams louder, and, in a subtle bit of one-uppery that you recognize in Bucky instantly, he dips you in his kiss.
When you center yourself back in reality, the team is excitedly hurrying up to you. You can’t find it in yourself to give a shit about the crowd. Whether they’re clapping or screaming obscenities, they’re just background noise.
Wanda comes up to you, and without any warning, pulls you into another hug. Chuckling, you pat her back while listening to Tony rave.
“So, you three-“
“Yes, us three,” Steve interrupts.
Stark blinks for a moment. “Wait, you’ve all been sleeping on your tiny-ass bed?”
You shrug. “A queen bed is hardly tiny. We only had a full sized one back in our old apartment.”
“Yeah, but the three of you weren’t all squeezing on that one with your ten-foot wings and the extra inches on Cap,” Sam says.
You can see the gears turning in Tony’s head, but leave him to his scheming. Peter’s equally excited, shaking in place. Or that could be the energy drink he had. You weren’t sure.
“Scott, are you crying?” Rhodey asks over the crowd. The man sniffles before squeaking out, “No! I’m just… Ok yeah I’m crying.”
The rattling of the barriers is your cue to head out. Some of the crowd are pressing past the guards as you pass by.
An elderly man catches your eye, smiles, and tips his hat before disappearing in the throng of people.
Once in the bus again, you take your usual spot with your boys.
“You sure know how to stir up a crowd,” you laugh, taking Steve’s hand.
Bucky grins. “He’s been doing that since those USO tours-“
“Hey! You promised you wouldn’t bring those up,” the blond whines.
“They were really entertaining,” you hum. “Especially the first time I saw you and yelled at you in front of the whole camp.”
He only grumbles, placating when Bucky kisses his forehead and struggles to not laugh more.
“We’re sorry, we’re sorry,” he manages, smiling. You agree, gently tapping him with one wing.
Despite promising not to tease him further, you don’t let up until you get back to the compound, happily retiring to your rooms to change out of the stuffy formal wear.
You’re tugging on some pajama shorts when two arms wrap around you. One metal, one warm.
“Pasăre [bird].” You hum, leaning into the touch.
“Hi, Jamie.”
“‘M tired,” he whispers. You reach up to run a hand through his hair.
“You’re always either tired or hyper, love.” He shrugs, awkward due to your wings blocking the movement of his arms.
You hear familiar footsteps heading down the hallway. “Steve,” Bucky calls.
“Yeah?” The blond has a few bowls of fruit in his arms. “Figured you two were tired.”
“That’s what we were just saying.” You pluck a small orange from the bowl, peeling it slowly. “I think we should ask Shuri about it when we head down.”
“When’ll that be?” he asks. You shrug, discarding a spiral of orange peel in the bowl.
“I’m pretty happy with hanging around for a while,” Bucky says, laying down beside you two on the bed and taking an apple slice. He carefully avoids your wings from where you’re laying on your back.
You pop an orange slice free and pass it to Steve, and as you do so, notice a small cut on his finger.
Taking his hand, you roll over. “What did you do now?” you ask. It’s a tiny cut. Hardly worse than a paper cut.
“Nicked myself on the apple slicer. Turns out Nat sharpens the kitchen tools in her free time, ‘just in case’, whatever that means.” You chuckle.
“May I?”
He nods.
As you work, Steve watches you. He’s always done a lot of observing. It’s how he got good at art, how he got good at strategizing, and, eventually, leading.
He’s never seen a close-up of your powers on him. The last time you used them on him, he was, to be blunt, dying on the banks of the Potomac.
He knows that Bucky knows your powers well. They’re like a safe space for him. They provide memories that aren’t just the cold walls of HYDRA.
But they’re new to Steve. The first thing he notices is how your hands move. With Wanda’s powers, her hands are tense and shaking. The sheer force of the power she holds looks almost painful.
Your hands twist and bend in fluid motions, and though they have the slightest tremble, the differences are like night and day.
The second thing he notices is, well, the powers themselves. The only magic he’s encountered is Thor’s and Wanda’s. Maybe Vision, if the Mind Stone counts. All of their powers radiate a humming noise. It crackles and reminds you of their destructive force.
Your powers are silent. And they almost bloom from your hands. The gold light floats into small shapes, before fading away. When the light touches the cut, the skin sews itself back together.
“…Wow,” he breathes out. You tilt your head.
“What?”
He holds up his hand. “‘What?’? You just healed my hand, sweetheart, I’d say that warrants a ‘wow’.”
“Or two,” Bucky cuts in, pecking Steve’s hand from over your shoulder. You grin when the latter blushes, the slowly setting sun barely peeking through the curtains.
The three of you are tangled together, talking in hushed voices as your hands trail over each other.
Maybe you’re tired all the time now. Maybe the nightmares come every night and the public deems you a killer. And maybe they’re right in some ways.
But you have your boys the way you wanted them all this time. You have a little room and friends who care about you and two bowls of fruit and a TV that you only watch documentaries and cooking shows on.
And you think that that more than makes up for it.

I'm super invested in the trio au! Considering you said that Bernard is the muscles of the three, while Tim is the info guy and Darla the mastermind (I'm assuming) it has a very leverage vibe with the later seasons! Especially with the whole bad guys make the best good guys angle they have in terms of cleaning things up from the inside. Does Bernard tend towards being like Eliot Spencer? Very soft for those he loves but also super fighty when needed? Does he tend to always put his body between the other two and danger? I just love the idea of Bernard throwing himself over Tim and Darla. Taking blows and bullets and always getting back up. Always making sure the other two are safe and sound and only then begrudgingly allowing himself to be seen to. Does Tim get very blushy whenever Bernard is fighting or training? Has Bernard ever had to carry Tim only for Tim all but explode with blushy feelings?? Inquiring minds would like to know. Also what are the various robins opinions on the trio individually and together? Has Bernard ever had to fight them? Has Tim ever had to get in a hacker fight with oracle? Who would win? Your art is wonderful and tells such a fantastic story!
Oh yes Bernard definitely is the kind of person to jump in front of a bullet for his friends, he has done it so many times Darla straight up forces him to wear a bullet proof vest at all times. The fact is that he wouldn’t be like this is he didn’t have two idiot friends that seem to attract danger like magnets, honestly he cannot leave them alone for five minutes because suddenly Darla has a new feud with another gang and Tim is about to hack into the FBI to steal government secrets, he is in a way the voice of reason.
Listen at this point every single one of the gang members know of Tim’s obvious crush on Bernard, how can they not when whenever Bernard is training there’s Tim looking at him with heart eyes, you are correct that in more than one occasion Bernard has been forced to take Tim out of a situation by carrying like a sack of potatoes, and regardless of how undignified the position is Tim is definitely more than up or a repeat whenever, I mean have you seen Bernard’s arm muscles??? Drool worthy, in his humble opinion.
When it comes down to the Robins they all have different opinions about the trio.
Dick, the first robin, he is a bit torn about them, in one side he understand what they’re trying to do, but they’re kids, they’re so young, they shouldn’t have to be doing stuff like this, with ok he understands he was doing equally or even more dangerous stuff at a younger age, but he had Batman behind him, these kids have nothing and to make matters worse they’re dealing with all the gangs and organized crime of Gotham, they’re way over their heads and he is ready to step up and help whenever necessary, he said as much to Darla when he gave her his number, for backup, in case they ever need it.
Jason, the second robin, absolutely adores them, he thinks of them all as his little siblings, after all they’re just a few years apart, he wishes they didn’t have to do what they do, but he understand where they’re coming from, and he likes to think if he had never been adopted by Batman he would have ended with them, because he knows they take care of those under their protection, and so many of the street kids of Gotham need more people like them.
Stephanie, the third robin, is a big fan of them, she is down for helping them whenever, if she sees them while out patrolling she is so gonna ignore Batman and just drop next to them as ask what they’re doing now and how she can help. In this AU since Tim never became robin there never was a reason for them to meet, and even less for them to date, she ends with a crush on Tim, but it never went anywhere.
Damian, the fourth robin, he is a bit of a mess, when he arrives at Gotham he has the mentality that he has to prove himself so his father will accept him, so he decides he will do so by dealing with the people his father has never been able to get rid of, so of course he goes and attacks Tim, basically almost as the same than in canon, he nearly kills him, except this time after that a pretty pissed Darla interrupts their patrol, points a gun at Damian, and tells Batman that he either controls his brat or she will deal with him herself, there will no be second chances. Not the best of first impressions, but eventually Damian will learn to accept, and secretly be impressed, by the work the trio does.
Bernard had fought them before, but more than trying to win he was trying to win enough time for either Tim get what he needed from wherever they have infiltrated, or for Darla to find a way to leave without letting the Bats follow them. Tim has definitely had a “fight” with Oracle, but honestly it was mostly for fun on both sides. And obviously Oracle wins, that’s not even a question, Oracle always wins.

“I can’t believe you believe Meghan!!!”
That what, people were racist to her??? I watch the press make double standards in real time, I know how the internet works and how wired it is for racism and misogyny, yeah no shit they were racist to her. I can see blatant harassment. I know that cops don’t take women seriously, esp women of color and how the masses like to sweep stalking under the rug of “oh well you’re famous!” This shit isn’t hard to believe there’s no mastermind here, it’s all obvious facts we’ve been familiar with.
Does this mean theyre both flawless? Of course not. Though I err on the side of Harry dropping the ball moreso than her, several times I roll my eyes cuz he’s kinda clueless and an idiot sometimes. But that’s not exactly unexpected when your whole life is in a privileged bubble. And he does make up for it by sticking up for his wife often.
Does this mean I’m personally invested? Not really no. Im more invested in how the masses react to them/my posts. I’m more invested in what this is a symptom of.
Yknow what I think? I think people really want to hate Meghan cuz she’s successful and got lucky to marry into royalty which should’ve been a step onto the pedestal. They never wanted to have sympathy for her. And don’t get me wrong, I would love to have a reason to side eye Ms. I’m gonna have a hot girl summer in ✨Europe✨ because that is a tax bracket I will never be apart of. It is delightful to snicker at rich people problems.
But I think people went in wanting to find someone in the family to hate, whether it be Harry and Meghan or William and Kate, that they were blindsided when the real villains were racism and misogyny. Because now they could of easily contributed to being the bad guy. Because now they have to realize this isn’t a “haha let’s punch up at the rich privileged people” it’s now a “oh is widespread ignorance that affects everyone. It’s online harassment that people were baited and encouraged to do.” And that’s not a quirky fun thing to have as your holiday entertainment.
I think people build entire blogs hating one of the pairs because it’s easier to say “oh the problem is these two” instead of “the problem is an fundamentally flawed and ignorant system I likely have a part in playing/enabling.” The latter is less catty and fun yknow? Even though most of the docuseries was about the press being the villain, people kinda gloss over that because they wanna cheer for a couple like it’s a damn sports team.

20 BEST MULTIFAMILY MARKETING STRATEGIES
The multifamily market keeps getting more competitive as the real estate industry evolves and grows. Therefore, multifamily property managers need to use effective marketing strategies to boost their business and remain relevant.
This blog post covers industry-forward tips to help you make actionable and impactful plans when marketing your multifamily property.
Podcast on Real Estate Marketing
According to John Casmon in the 7 Figure Real Estate podcast, whether you’re a real estate investor or agent, you need marketing skills to constantly market your properties, community, and services to potential buyers. Real estate marketing ensures speed of sale, peace of mind and drives the current price. In other words, every dollar spent on advertising brings more potential buyers to your property, driving up the price.
Remember that there’s no one-size-fits-all method in real estate marketing. John Casmon also stated that real estate marketing requires an understanding of the uniqueness of your target audience, their desires, challenges, location, demographics, and where to reach them.
20 Multifamily Marketing Ideas for Multifamily Property Managers
Here are the best strategies and tips to  follow to build an effective multifamily marketing plan, achieve better results with your marketing efforts and attract new residents.
1. Hire Professional Photographers
Multifamily property managers need to include professional photography in their multifamily marketing plan because people are more attracted to images. Ensure you produce high-quality pictures of your multifamily properties.
You’ll need to showcase the properties you care about and wish to sell using professional photos. You’ll find several experts with the necessary equipment required to capture your apartment community in the most fantastic way possible.
2. Multifamily Marketing Website Optimization
A website is one of the most crucial marketing elements all multifamily property managers should have. It should be easy to navigate, informative, and have an attractive and responsive design. You want to make sure your multifamily property website works perfectly on different devices.
You also need to ensure that the web pages have call-to-action buttons (links) and the site loads fast. Remember that all your multifamily marketing efforts drive traffic to your website.
3. Invest in Paid Advertising on Social Media Platforms
Almost everybody is on social media in 2022. Instagram and Facebook are cost-effective and quick ways to market your apartment building.
These social media platforms also offer hyper-specific targeting tools, enabling you to target specific professions and zip codes. However, social media advertising needs to be fine-tuned to achieve better click-through-rates and conversions.
4. Create Immersive Videos
Creating live videos can be a beautiful way to get your location on the map. Not all property managers invest in video content so this could give you a competitive edge. Going the extra mile to put up the video content can help create a fantastic showreel that will boost your multifamily marketing efforts.
5. Buy Radio Ads
Tumblr media
6. Set Up a Residential Referral Program
Setting up a fantastic referral program is among the most motivating strategies for a multifamily marketing plan. It encourages your current clients to refer your multifamily marketing agency to their family and friends.
You’ll need to offer tenants an incentive, such as cash bonuses or rent discounts. It’s important to build a multifamily marketing strategy like this, as studies show that marketing via word of mouth is among the most effective methods to improve your client base.
7. Use Virtual Tour Tools
Online renderings and virtual tours of your properties can sporadically increase your multifamily marketing leads. You can give future residents a feel for their future home and community. Take advantage of technical advancements, like virtual tour apps.
8. Drive Online Reviews
Reviews and testimonials are among the most crucial things to consider when building your multifamily marketing campaign, as over 90% of individuals check online reviews before finally deciding to buy.
You want to build an online review strategy to attract new residents and retain current ones. You can ask for a review from your residents to help you identify those who contemplate leaving the property, and you can turn them into brand advocates using a customized customer service experience.
The reviews also double as a public relations safety net and enable you to identify and reply to less-than-stellar public reviews. Positive reviews also attract visitors to your webpage, ads, marketing material, lead form, or other marketing campaigns.
9. Partner with the Local Businesses in Your Community
Property managers can significantly benefit by engaging the local community. You can create partnerships with restaurants and local shops.
You can give a welcome package to a person who signs a lease or a city guide with all the most beautiful spots and best businesses. These businesses will return the favor by offering your services to their customers.
10. Host Food Truck and Facebook Events
Organize resident events to improve engagement within your community. These events help bring neighbors together and foster unity. Property managers can organize popup events using the city’s best food trucks and restaurants.
11. Run a Contest
Giveaways and contests are a fantastic way to give back to the residents and boost your community exposure. Bags or keychains may be the ideal gift for prospective renters and can highly impact their behavior in the future. You can offer access to a special amenity, discounted rates, or a free month’s rent to multifamily property groups.
12. Highlight Multifamily Amenities
Since multifamily housing keeps getting more popular, differentiation is essential. It would help if you offered standout and innovative multifamily amenities as an incentive for your potential residents.
Common amenities you can offer multifamily communities include video intercoms and keyless entry, dining amenities, dog runs, mailroom management software, and package lockers. You can stand out from the competition and crowd for more efficient multifamily property management by showcasing these features on social media.
13. Use Email Marketing to Generate Leads
Email marketing is an affordable way to reach out to your target audience, and it often has higher returns on investment than other paid methods and gives more remarkable results.
Use some of your budget and marketing resources to build an email campaign and send emails that attract your audience’s attention. Try to offer valuable information and tips on the multifamily market, giveaways, and future events and watch as potential tenants troop in one after the other.
14. Print Marketing Materials
Printing marketing materials is a smart move to help boost a residential community’s popularity. Fliers, business cards, and posters are an excellent way to expand your reach and build your marketing strategy. It’s also an easy way for prospective clients to remember your brand identity and your information.
15. Invest in Content Marketing and SEO
More people are using the Internet to get what they want in the real estate industry. Content marketing and SEO in real estate marketing ensure you have an organic search plan that puts your site in front of a range of users every day. Ranking high on the search engine results page (SERPs) is a potent tool for every multifamily professional.
16. Purchase Google PPC Ads
Google Ads are an excellent way to advertise your services online. PPC ads enable you to boost your reach to potential residents, though it requires a strong marketing plan to avoid wasting time and money.
17. Create a Chatbot on Your Business Website
Chatbots are a fantastic way to boost user experience on your property website. It’s possible to welcome new visitors when they enter the site and answer their frequently asked questions. Chatbots also allow you to send instant feedback.
18. Organize Open House Events
An open house event is an excellent way to showcase your multifamily properties and give your prospective residents a first-hand encounter with the space.
19. Offer Discounts to Niche Communities and Groups

20. Publish Educational YouTube Videos
YouTube is among the most popular platforms for people looking for information about a subject. You can take advantage of the traffic by advertising your properties and sharing important tips. It’s funny Murdoc reflects Damon’s adventures IRL considering his dislike of the character, or at least his and Jamie’s intention to keep the character one more in contrast to Cass and others…and even now, he’s been pretty watered down and stale, more easily marketable…funny, considering artistic integrity behind the project was once so high that certain music rewards were refused on that basis, as well as the refusal to let the 2000’s film project be watered down and made safe for kids by every interested executive. They’ve certainly be watered down for and talking down to the TikTok crowd….so many old interviews are funny and sad in hindsight. Oh, sorry for the rambling! I only go off because I and other fans like you care so much, and it feels like the current people behind it just don’t anymore…
That is a phenomena for some people - hating people and/or characters that reflect the flaws or insecurities we see in ourselves haha, so perhaps that's Damon with Murdoc (jk jk...or maybe). I've heard that about that connection since I joined the fandom, but I've never seen the actual interview confirming it. It's come up enough over the years from various other sources that I'm going to keep treating it as if it’s real.
Murdoc being "watered down" is what made him more well-rounded in a sense, which is a weird thing to say, but it's also kind of what happened. I think affirming that he isn't some big scary evil mastermind but actually an insecure and often comically incompetent old man only benefited future analyses. There's so much to pick apart. It also reaffirms his humanity as well as hints that have been in the writing since the beginning. That being said, they definitely made the choice to take that direction with dollar signs in mind rather than investment in Murdoc's character growth. So yeah. But hey, myself and others were validated!
It's definitely been sad seeing their transition to for profit content above all else. Generally, this doesn't bother me too much - I don't care if they want to have some brand deals. However, it does bother me when I see it impact the writing choices (i.e. a shift to only writing for fan service over care for the characters, simplifying the rest of the band etc). I'm sure there are a lot of thoughtful people of all ages on Tiktok, too! (though I still don't agree with the purpose of the app and its reliance on creating high engagement above all else) But the Gorillaz account is definitely targeting a more traffic chasing demographic. It's about profit more than anything atm, I think. I actually just read a book review about this that I'll have to discuss more later. It feels very relevant to this convo.
And no worries! Ramble away. I don't mind discussing unpopular topics here - critique doesn't bother me. I like hearing other perspectives on things I've also thought about.

I wrote something for the Xisang challenge oops
*
Lan Xichen wanted to laugh, that kind of mirthless sound that was born in the depth of despair and other nasty emotions that he shouldn't even be contemplating.
Yet there he was, all his certainties crumbling like the temple at his back. Loudly and unwieldy.
There was blood on his hands. It had been warm until a moment ago.
Jin Guangyao had been…
His hands shacked.
That horrible rumble too wanted to come out and fill the air.
Although he felt a deep loss skewering with its claws his soul and ripping it apart, Lan Xichen couldn't regret it.
It was good like that. It was the better option.
It might even have been the logical one, if he didn't know better.
Sitting next to him, Nie Huaisang checked the gauze hat in his hands as if he was seeing it for the first time in his life, lost in some contemplation of his own.
The death of Nie Mingjue, his murder, couldn't have gone unpunished. It wouldn't have been right, nor filial. And Nie Huaisang had been very smart about it, even more than the culprit.
Everything had been dealt with in the shadow, the secrecy of it so well hidden that Lan Xichen still doubted what had really happened, what actually transpired that night, so fast it went once ignited.
He should have known though.
Nie Huaisang was an expert in keeping things concealed from the sight of everyone else who wasn't concerned. Nobody would have suspected about all the kisses they had shared behind closed doors, the hands that explored under heavy fabrics and the tangled legs lit by the first rays of light.
No one was the wiser about that, as much as no one was aware of what had actually happened ten years prior, or even what went down that same night.
No one besides the two of them and the other pawns who had been used that night. Collateral damage at worst. Another chip in the reputation of the supposed mastermind, another accusation that could be used against him.
And Nie Huaisang had already sacrificed so much, lost so much.
Closing his hands into trembling fists, Lan Xichen realised clearly in his mind what his guts had been telling him.
Taking the blame for such destructive actions, no matter how justified they were, would have obliterated what remained of the Nie sect. All that Nie Huaisang had been left with, from his brother and his father and the fathers before them.
While he… Lan Xichen had nothing besides his sect either, but his sect had other alternatives. Better choices to be made, someone better to take the reins and evaluate pros and cons. Unlike he had done, balancing between duty and desire.
All along, Lan Xichen had never felt cut for the role he had been invested with since his early childhood.
The perfect leader, prioritising the sect above himself and his personal preferences, his emotions. The perfect Lan, ascetic and poised. What his sect needed to flourish.
Lan Xichen wanted to laugh. In the end he had been no different from any other Lan sect leader before him, hypocritical and tragically consumed by his own feelings.
With a sneer, he laughed at the depth of which ran his devotion.
Nie Huaisang eyed him warily as the snicker transformed into an impersonal smile.
He, Lan Xichen, could bear the guilt of one more thing on his shoulders, in the best interest of everyone. For love.
[and here goes the ficlet collection on AO3]

Interpol seeks NZer in Spanish probe
Interpol is hunting a former Auckland man and his British wife suspected of masterminding a European property scam alleged to involve almost $2 million.
The reported that 20 people claimed to have paid substantial sums to Nigel Andrews for deposits for apartments in Turkey, which have not yet been built.
Mr Andrews, a 51-year-old New Zealander, and his wife Margaret were reported to have vanished from their offices in Marbella in June, where they had set up a company called Royal Resorts Turkey.
The Spanish police have been called in to investigate allegations that investors have lost 1 million euros ($1.7m) in a failed resort development in Turkey.
Spain's national police force has confirmed that Interpol was involved in the hunt for the couple and that they have made an arrest in Calpe, Alicante - reported to be Mr Andrews' brother, Lionel.
The brothers left Scotland for Spain in 2003 after the Vaults nightclub in Aberdeen's Carnegie Brae, which they had set up with another business partner, closed down just five months after opening, owing about £700,000 ($1.43m) to creditors.
The Bank of Scotland later lodged a petition calling for the brothers to be made bankrupt.
Mr and Mrs Andrews left Marbella on June 5, after it emerged their apartments project would not go ahead because of a building ban.
An English-language news website in Spain, The Olive Press, reported that police in Alicante and Marbella confirmed they had arrested a New Zealand national, Lionel Andrews, in connection to the Royal Resorts Turkey sales.
It reported that Nigel Andrews and his wife had recently been living at an exclusive marina in Almeria and that Mr Andrews had recently renamed Royal Resorts Turkey as Property Investing Overseas.
