Fuck it, I will name my dinos in homage to Dinosaur King, so I will have two trex, one named Rexy and needs to be female to reference Jurassic Park and the other- I need to search cuz has been a while since I watched Dinosaur King and I only remembef Chompy that in portuguese is named Gabu
there's no genders for dinos in paleo pines, neither there are for player to choose actually; they all go by they/them. who's to stop you from assigning them ones tho

Tumblr media
(not to scale, massive size difference, whew!)
Archimedes the archaeopteryx (OC) and Springtrap see eachother and have a little tea party, because they're both silly guys who kill or something
Mainly drew this after me and my friend went like "WHAT IF HE [archie] WAS BRITISH!!?!???" as usual

so i may not be as much into fnaf now as i used to when i was younger but ive always been baffled that nobody has made a dinosaur themed fnaf fan game?? i may just be autistic for these sillies but i love the concept of it so much :D it makes sense for me because dinosaurs are popular with kids and popular in horror and irl there are a lot of dinosaur animatronics. so my concept here is that somewhere in utah fazbear entertainment collaborated with a fictional museum to make an educational dinosaur themed restaurant! also every dino robot is a species that can be found in utah! So first we have Utahraptor. It was made to show off more birdlike theories and was given a voicebox that can record voices to repeat them back like those toys that do it but due to being haunted can mimic voices. they slowly stalk the player and intentionally mess with them, toying with their prey. (this was made before the mimic lmao)
Tumblr media
Next is Camarasaurus! this animatronic is HUGE and in a kid's cove type area all to itself. because its so big the engineers only made its neck, head and tail robotic while its body is a plastic frame. At night it detaches its neck/head from its body and slithers through the vents. also here's a plushie of little dude!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is Diabloceratops. this one is the most haunted and possibly possessed by a demon. its body moves in unnatural ways and it frequently will move with its limbs on backwards or upside down. it also has some kind of strange parasite type thing in it similar to ennard spaghetti. this design is probably my favorite and the one that freaks me out the most, inspired by the not-deer cryptid and demonic possession.
Tumblr media
And lastly the only withered animatronic, Akainacephalus ! :D they are inspired by slinky toys and poltergeists. this guy has a fnaf 2 puppet type role in the cast and sits right outside the office and doesn't move much unless its activated. i dont have much lore for them yet but i still love little dude! I also plan to add Ceratosaurus, Tenontosaurus, and Stegosaurus!
There is also Archie! He is an Archaeopteryx and the only member of the cast who is not found in Utah and is the education mascot of the museum :D he has an almost helpy like role and only shows up on posters, art, screens and as a plushie. :D
Tumblr media
I dont know if this game will ever come out but i wanted to share my concept somewhere on the internet :D

ok well i'll write up a little bit a bout straidor and ferri without divulging into too many 'spoilers'...
archaeopteryx 'archie' straidor (he/him) and octavius 'otto' ferri (they/he) are besties (Just like in real life- i have joint custody of them with octavius of @/sallzabel-oct fame) who grew up together as weird kids ^__^
EDIT: I FORGOT TO MENTION. They're american like aggressively Midwestern American. Hi
Tumblr media
(ferri left, straidor right)
upon turning ~17 or so they both joined a circus! over a few years, they grew in popularity, with ferri taking over as ringmaster and renaming the circus to the Ferri Fun Circus (haha) and straidor becoming the primary magician!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(art of otto and the rest of the circus by @/sallzabel-oct!!)
along with their fellow circus cohorts they began traveling abroad, starting in europe. however; they run into a snag, and the circus gets canned, leaving them temporarily stuck in britain (oh, the horror). the circus integrates into a town nearby to where their last show was performed, with most of the performers using their skills to help out around the place. however, straidor and ferri grow tired of the monotony and opts to move out on their own to study their own passions; archaeology & law respectively. ferri studies to become a lawyer, becoming successful in their small circus town and keeping in touch with everyone. straidor ends up taking a class of layton's because he's heard of how fascinating the man is, and because of his purported archaeological progress. so begins the two of them's LAME ASS STUDIOUS ARC.
Tumblr media
now from here, this is where straidor starts to get more involved in a 'story'; while he's in layton's office for an office hours meeting to get some help with an assignment, the phone rings! and who is it but Otto Ferri himself! he's got a massive lead on an ancient buried treasure somewhere in clowntown, and he wants layton's help finding it. layton attempts to excuse himself, but archie won't take no for an answer; he's desperate for some extra credit work, and what could a little field work hurt? he assures layton that the experience will be useful to his studies, and layton, seeing that he won't be able to talk him down, acquiesces. loading up the laytonmobile with luke, flora, and archie, he wonders just what awaits him in that strange circus town....
(this all takes place pre-unwound future, but post-diabolical box! :-3)

Drew one of my friend @cathalbravecog 's Toons, Archie Archaeopteryx! They're an OC I've become quite fond of since I learned about them, an OC blorbo, even (Unless Guzma finds me calling Archie that weird, anyways). I may not have many coherent thoughts to give on them atm, but I will say that a dinosaur Toon? Not only is that awesome, but it's re-awakening my inner child who was OBSESSED with dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Other than that, Archie..... A friend :)

there's so many characters that I can't tag everyone with my usual tagging method bc of the tag limit so I just tagged the romantic/platonic/familial f/os </3

So something I’ve released in relation to the Borrowers on an ARK post is that I greatly underestimated the size of some of the smaller creatures in the game due to it being in first person
For example one of the creatures I mentioned in the post was Archaeopteryx, if a Borrower were to be 4in in size they’d only be up to the ankles of the Archie. Which you know would probably make taming some creatures a lot more difficult and also means that Dilos and Troodons are less like Allos and more like Gigas (minus the rage).
Sorry if this doesn’t make a lot of sense just thought I’d share this realization.

Retro vs Modern #04: Archaeopteryx lithographica
Archaeopteryx lithographica was first discovered in the 1860s, still in the early days of our understanding of dinosaurs, and was a timely example of the sort of transitional form first proposed by Charles Darwin only a couple of years earlier. For over a century it was a famous icon of evolution, and has been part of a lot of weird drama over the years – it's been central to arguments about bird origins, was accused of being a fake, and one specimen even vanished under mysterious circumstances.
1860s-1970s
At the time of its discovery Archaeopteryx was actually fairly quickly accepted as demonstrating an evolutionary link between dinosaurs and birds… but sadly this view wasn't to last.
In the early 20th century opinion shifted towards birds not being dinosaurs but instead descended from "thecodont" reptiles (what we'd now call early archosaurs and pseudosuchians). And so for a long time Archaeopteryx ended up being depicted as simply the "first bird", a half-reptile half-avian curiosity.
Reconstructions of it from this time period varied from very good to kind of awkward depending on how much the artist was trying to emphasize its reptilian ancestry, commonly featuring wonky-fingered wings and a scaly lizard-like face. It was also frequently depicted with bright gaudy parrot-like coloration, with a specific yellow-and-blue color scheme becoming a "paleoart meme" so prolific that it would eventually inspire the design of a Pokémon.
2020s
After decades of stagnation the dinosaur-bird link was resurrected in the early 1970s, with the discovery of the bird-like Deinonychus kicking off the Dinosaur Renaissance. Along with the explosion of spectacularly feathered dinosaur fossils from China in the mid-1990s, Archaeopteryx finally began to be properly presented as a feathered dinosaur again.
Continued study of the known Archaeopteryx specimens in the last couple of decades has vastly improved our knowledge of what this animal would have looked like, revealing previously unknown features like the exact plumage arrangement on its wings and legs, and even potentially some details about its coloration.
Living in southern Germany during the Late Jurassic, about 150-148 million years ago, Archaeopteryx inhabited what was then an island archipelago in a shallow tropical sea. It grew to around 50cm long (~1'8") and was almost entirely covered with pennaceous feathers, externally probably just looking like a long-tailed bird.
It had broad wings, with asymmetrical flight feathers similar to those of modern birds but with more extensive coverts, some of which were probably a matte black color. Its legs also sported long "feather trousers" and a "raptor"-like hyperextensible second toe, and there was a slight forked shape to the tip of its tail.
Arguments have gone back and forth about how well it was actually able to fly, with current thinking being that it made short bursts of active flapping flight a little like a modern pheasant – but since its shoulder joints were less mobile than those of modern birds it must have used a different sort of flight stroke to generate lift.
It's no longer always considered to have been the "first bird", or even to have been the direct ancestor of any modern birds. Instead it represents an offshoot lineage of early birds (or very-bird-like dinosaurs) that was just one part of a still-expanding flock of feathery fossil discoveries.
