Ok I don't know anything about perfume but i would love to hear what you have to say abt this so. Pls tell me what 1) perfume you think Hickey would want to wear, like if all his daydreams came true and he was alive today and fabulously wealthy and indulgently waving a hand at his on-retainer ace perfumelier (which is what i assume someone who gives personalized perfume recs is called) (you) what are you suggesting to him 1/3

Ooooo this is such a good one, thank you for these asks! I think Hickey would be absolutely immune to the kind of chic unisex vibe that’s having a thing right now — I think he’d enjoy smoke, woods, dank dark resins (he’s a caulker at heart still) and the kind of put-on flavor of rough-hewn elusive masculinity where it's like, come on man, you work at a tech start-up and you do zero work. He might like D.S. & Durga’s desert scents, ex. El Cosmico (notes: Creosote shrubs and sumac primed with Chihuahuan mesa woods–mesquite, oak, and pinyon pine.) or something like Amber Teutonic.

Assuming he’s got the same unexamined imperial BS going on as OG victorian Hickey, I think he’d very much enjoy the choices made around Arquiste Nanban. (Notes: Malabar black pepper, Persian saffron, Chinese osmanthus, coffee absolute, Spanish leather, myrrh, frankincense, sandalwood and cade.) I think he’d also be intrigued by the use of cannabis notes in fragrance, even if he doesn't partake.

2) what perfume is he like. like what’s him like his vibes. like if amc was doing a line of the best kind of character merch the inexplicable character-themed colognes. Like when capcom dropped ace attorney perfumes. What would the hickey one’s flavor text description be like. and 2/3

Ffffff… I’ve made many fakey hickey perfumes in my time and I love them all but I can't locate a single one of them so you're getting an all-new all-original fakey Hickey perfume, AMC please hire me to be the nose for your new Frozen Fuckers line of tie-in fragrance

Base notes: Amber, crumbly tobacco, and patchouli patchouli patchouli

Middle: black pepper, agarwood, wet wool

Top notes: birch tar, saffron

This is all to say: he is a stinky boy deluxe.

3) Back to the first scenario but this time instead he explicitly wants one not for him but for the guy he’s pretending to be in order to attempt to seduce crozier. What’s THAT perfume like. ok thank you btw you don’t have to answer any of this if u don’t want to (3/3)

HICKEY WANTS TO FUCK... I feel like he'd want to class it up but also thinks Crozier is a bit of a fragrance philistine so he shows up wearing Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous (notes: bitter almond oil, tonka bean, orris root, leather, cashmerean and clary sage oil) unless he's trying to appeal to some kind of weird cloud of sense memory affiliations in which case Paco Rabanne Invictus, like absolutely all of the Terror lieuts.

Nanban by arquiste is probably one of my favorites of my arquiste samples so far. It’s warm and smoky and leathery I love the slight coffee scent. It’s initially a little spicy too which I love. It doesn’t project great but I am only using a sample sprayer. Im so relieved it doesn’t have a powdery scent like a lot of the spicier/smoky perfumes have when they dry down. Which is why I’m willing to overlook it not being the strongest. A big fan of this one and the first arquiste sample I tried.

Smell HCS:

Matt: I’ve heard many people say he smells like warm things like leather, cinnamon, even smoke. I disagree( but not completely), I think he’s smells like rain, fresh laundry and leather

I feel like he might not wear cologne on a regular basis but definitely does on special occasions

(Examples: Abercrombie & Fitch-Fierce, Skylar - Salt Air, Memoire Archives- By The Sea)

Foggy: he smells very sweet, like almost a bakery but in a different way (???), or like apples maybe, something light but definitely on the sweet side. he smells very good. Wears cologne most days, but i do feel like he’d forget from time to time (Polo blue, Brûmée - Aromatic spices + jasmine)

Karen: she feels like the person to use roll on perfume for some reason. girl smells GOOD. i get like cranberry vibes with maybe a floral base and a hint of spice. or a vanilla with floral notes. Wears it everyday, applies about twice a day depending on the perfume, saves the expensive stuff for special occasions

(examples: White Tshirt (b&bw) Blissful Garden (VS) Vince Camuto- Illuminare Intensa)

Wesley: Man smells classy and amazing, i’m not super familiar with high end scents so i’m sure my examples aren’t going to be great. But he smells like money, definitely elements of leather, new car, and probably coffee. You will never catch him smelling like anything else, is he asleep? is he in a volcano? doesn’t matter

I also tried nanban from arquiste and I like that one too but misfit is my favorite :•] I just ordered a few more samples of some random perfumes I wanted to try so maybe I’ll tell you if any of them turn out good if that’s not annoying ^^

SOTD is Nanban from @arquiste My daughter ordered this from @bloomperfumery and it was on back order so I’ve had to be patient but trust me it was so worth the wait, also thank you so much for the extra samples that was a lovely touch. I honestly think this is one of THE best fragrances in my entire collection. It’s inspired by a galleon on a diplomatic mission in 1618 returning from the west carrying Samurai warriors and a whole host of precious cargo. The fragrance is based around the contents of the cargo and the woods of the ship, it opens with spicy Malabar Black pepper, Persian Saffron, Black Tea and Osmanthus, in the mid you have, Coffee Absolute, Spanish Leather, Sandalwood and Myrrh, the base comprises Frankincense, Styrax, Copaiba Balsam and Cade. For me this is just such an incredibly complex and beautiful fragrance, it’s dark and mysterious yet warm and cosy at the same time, it’s a heady, woody, smoky, delight with a perfect incense drifting throughout, and that Sandalwood is just divine (spoiler alert I’m a massive Sandalwood fan) It’s one of these fragrances that waft around you and just seems to hang in the air around you, the atomiser on these bottles are absolutely amazing and deliver the perfect mist. I have to say this is a huge love for me, sample it if you can, once sprayed never forgotten a real statement maker for me. Happy New year everyone I hope it brings you all much happiness. I’d like to say a massive thank you to the lovely people @fioleuk who were kind enough to send out the atomiser you see in the pic, it contains Nanban from @arquiste which was on my Christmas wishlist and was nigh on impossible to get a bottle of here in the uk, my daughter spoke to @samueljlgearing who went out of his way to ensure I was able to at least have enough of this absolute gem to tide me through until a bottle becomes available, not only that it came in a fantastic atomiser which was beautifully wrapped. My daughter also purchased the candle you see in the pic which is based on Nanban, let me tell you it fills a room and is stunning.
