The Prayer Center of Orland Park (OPPC), Illinois, recently declared the establishment of an Islamic university at its premises, the Universal Islamic College of Chicago (UICC) that  will provide “higher Islamic education to the American Muslim community as well as serve as a seminary that would prepare imams for mosques” in North America.

The foundation of this four-year university is a joint effort between the OPPC and the Universal School in Bridgeview, Illinois.

The identities of the founders and faculty of the university are deeply concerning and suggest the seminary will be promoting an Islamist ideology to Muslim students in Illinois and throughout the United States.

In the video announcing the college’s founding, Universal School is represented by its Superintendent Safaa Zarzour.

Zarzour has extensive ties to Islamist groups linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, including serving as a board member and president of the Chicago chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), and currently vice-president and formerly Secretary General of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA). Zarzour also served as operations officer for the Zakat Foundation.

CAIR has its origins in the Muslim Brotherhood’s establishment of infrastructure to support Hamas, according to documents released as evidence during the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial, in 2008, when HLF, the largest Islamic charity in the U.S. at the time, was blacklisted by Washington for supporting Hamas in 2001, and eventually convicted of financing the terrorist group in 2008.

ISNA itself has a long history of fundamentalism, anti-Semitism, and support for terrorism. Named as an unindicted co-conspirator during the HLF trial, evidence presented against ISNA led federal judge Jorge Solis to write, “the Government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA and NAIT with HLF, the Islamic Association for Palestine (“IAP”), and with Hamas.”

The Zakat Foundation has been accused of working alongside charity groups affiliated with Hamas, and whose executive director was tied to an Al Qaeda funder.

Also closely associated with the Universal School is Bassam Osman, Former ISNA Shura council member and chairman of NAIT. Osman was described as the “representative of NAIT” on the Universal School board, according to older versions of the school’s website. Osman was also listed as a member of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood Shura Council, according to a copy of a phone directory submitted as evidence during the Holy Land Foundation Trial.

According to Sabith Khan and Sharqi Siddiqui in their book, Islamic Education in the United States, Universal School began in 1990 as “The Universal School: ISNA Model Learning Center” and ISNA raised $2 million for the project.

Another Universal School founder, Dr. Abdul R. Amine served as a board member for the Mosque Foundation, a Bridgeview, Illinois mosque directly across from the Universal School. Also known as the Bridgeview Mosque, the Mosque Foundation was identified as have close ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas, according to the Chicago Tribune. Despite their close proximity, Universal School denies any connection to the Mosque Foundation.

Representing the Orlando Park mosque was Imam Kifah Mustapha. Mustapha has a history of supporting violent Anti-Semitism. In 2015, the same year he was hired as the imam of the center, Mustapha was caught supporting the “stabbing intifada” against Israelis on Facebook, writing, “An uprising in the blessed land will reflect blessings on all the Arab Revolutions God Willing.”

Long before he was appointed Imam of OPPC, Mustapha was a member of the Islamic Association of Palestine (IAP), where he performed in its Al Sakhra band which chanted jihadi songs at fundraising events for HLF.  Mustapha was named as an unindicted co-conspirator by federal prosecutors in the HLF terror trial because of his fundraising activities.

In one of the videos entered into evidence during the trial, Mustapha wears a Palestinian garb and Kufiyah and chants in Arabic:

“O mother, Hamas for Jihad. Over mosques’ loudspeakers, with freedom. Every day it resists with stones and the dagger. Tomorrow, with God’s help, it will be with a machine gun and a rifle.”

Currently, Mustapha teaches one course at the UICC, while courses offered in Arabic are taught by his assistant Imam at OPPC, Dr. Haitham Alzamareeh (also spelled Zamara) who acts as the registrar for the college as well. Alzamareeh was hired by OPPC in January as assistant director to the mosque.

Previously, Alzamareeh taught online at Refugee Studies Academy (RSA), an Islamic institute based in London, U.K, that offers graduate degrees. RSA offers a diploma in Palestinian Studies, where the Academy lists as one of the goals of that degree is to provide the students with the “ability to refute the slander and lies: The student will have the scientific background and the necessary knowledge of the Zionist slander and their [Zionists] lies against them [Palestinians] in the land of Palestine.”

Alzamareeh’s online lectures feature rank anti-Semitism and concerning supremacist language. In one of his online lectures published on YouTube on November 27, 2016, Alzamareeh says: “Our [Palestinian] cause is an Islamic cause and our struggle against the Jews is not because they are Jews, but because they transgressed against our sacred places and occupied our land. They [Zionists] are trying to give this a religious dimension, which makes our struggle against them a creedal [religious] struggle.”

“For us [Muslims] this cause is first religious before it is a national [Palestinian] cause,” he added. “But to be clear,” Alzamareeh said, “Muslims hate any creed other than Islam.”

With founders and faculty Mustapha, and Alzamareeh and its connection to the Universal School and Safaa Zarzour, there is every reason to believe that UICC’s curriculum will include radical Islam, victimhood, conspiracy theories, anti-Western ideologies, and anti-Semitism.

The partnership with Universal School seems intended to speed the college towards accreditation, since the Universal School is already accredited by the Illinois board of education and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), despite the fact that the Universal School’s corporate status was involuntarily dissolved in May of this year, according to records from the Illinois Secretary of State’s office.

When the first Islamic university -- Zaytuna College -- was founded in Berkeley, California, in 2010, Mahmoud Ayoub, a retired professor of Islamic studies from Temple University did not support the idea.  Ayoub, who had worked with the U.S. State Department representing America to the Muslim world, said: “I don't know that I would send my child to go to a college where they can only learn tradition. Young people have to live (…) I like mixing people. I don't like ghettos."

UICC would seem to be a college that would fulfill Ayoub’s worst suspicions, one that perpetuates a ghetto mentality of supremacist Islamism.

i feel like i need to blog more stuff out of me to research my own thoughts ignore me or help me either is welcomed. 

so like i was diagnosed with mdd , panic/anxiety disorder so i know how it goes and how it feels and all that jazz. used to be on medication and not for almost two years. i can usually cope well since while i was on medication ifound many ways to do so. but now ive come across season affective disorder and i gotta say i am not a fucking fan. i cant bring myself to do the coping mechanisms because im fucking cold and there is no sun ever.  

this time last year i felt the exact same way and almost moved back to fl but didnt want to give up on tn yet. but im wondering is it maybe time to give up on it? i have no family here. and my family is expanding and growing without me. which makes it worse. 

ive been where i am for almost a year now and its been good. but there are no sidewalks like anywhere? im so tired of sharing walls. sure, its a townhouse and its pretty big and two floors and fire place but my neighbors are so annoying and for some reason in tennessee so many people think its absolutely okay to let their dogs out with leashes? 

knoxville is a really cool city and ive loved living here but idk if i can stand the winter. and its just a mild winter, idk how yall in the north handle it. i see now why when i moved abck to pa for 8 months my mom had it by the time march came around and we moved back to fl. 

a part of me feels like i might even just get bored with where i am after a certain amount of time considering how i was brought up. i have moved 17 times, which is wild for a child. probably why i have a hard time making friends too. 

tried leaving work yesterday after i got my list done (usually isnt a problem for my manager but the ass. manager always fights me with it). i told him three times i already had 2 1/2 hours of overtime and ill be leaving when im finished but bitch never listens to me and acts like he didnt hear me say it to his damn face.Usually i ask just to be polite and make sure but this time im telling him. kind of snapped on him because the day before i just cried all fucking day and had that feeling in my stomach and felt the same way when i woke up. old me would have called out, one because the position i was in was easily fillable but now im actually needed so i go to do my job and if i get done early that means im working my ass off and sweating like a pig to get done three hours early. (and the girl who does the work on the two days im off never gets the shit down or sets the room or anything up in order to have a good morning because the whole thing is very time sensitive and its very frustrating. also she called out like three times this week and made my week shittier than it needed to be.) like bitch no that doesnt mean i want to stay and help with other things after exerting so much energy that i dont even have in myself to begin with. so anyways i cried and then the manager came and talked to me and was understanding because he is aware of my mental health issues and i forgot steve- the ass manager (assistant manager , but also ass because he can be an ass) was not aware. so all in all i talked to my manager and told him and he was very supportive and then i went to apologize to steve and he reassured me i was valued and adored here which was nice. and i had to basically tell him if im trying to leave early it usually means because im feeling like a crazy bitch whos on the break of a mental breakdown so. quit fighting me. 

so anyways. 

even if i did move back fl ive finally gotten myself where i wanted to be in my job but i guess if it was meant to be the universe will take care of it just like it did when we moved here. 

a week before almost moving back to fl my grandparents came to visit and we were in crossville, which is the half way point from here to where we were living at the time and i was like hey lets try knoxville and the next day we went to look at apartments and as we were looking this place went up for rent almost as if the universe here, ask and you shall receive. because i was only looking at places that was in between the three stores that we could have possibly transferred to because i had no idea which one it was going to be i just new it was going to happen. and then when trying to transfer we my fiancees assistant manager knew the manager at this store here and said that he would take both of us and needed help in the area i wanted to be in and i was like wow amazing its all working out. and it did and it was great and then it got cold. and then holidays came. and birthdays came. and i ive learned so much about myself and i feel like yes i needed this part of my life. and now im not sure if istill need it. 

we have a vision of owning a little home a nice big plot of land near the mountains with a spring and creek on site with woods around. if we kept it up and really searched when the time came yeah im feel like we could find it. but what if i still feel this way when were there? then weve bought a home and it would be harder to get rid of. i have a vision of my own business with yoga. i find myself in capable of moving between the months of decemeber and march. then what. even when i get on to the mat i cant get into the flow. 

and what if we move back to fl. would he resent me for giving up on our dreams? will i be tired of people demanding my time and energy? will i bitch about the heat all the time and the fact that neighbros are every where? probably, yes, yes, and yes. 

but will i resent him for not moving back to spend our lives with our families? will i resent myself for not listening to the feeling in my stomach? or would i resent myself if i did listen to that feeling and gave up on the mountainous dreams. 

i know we would welcomed back with opened arms and i know not many would miss us here. 

the mountains are beautiful and so mystical when there. i wonder how it would be to live there. i always end up feeling so creeped out at some point of hikes because i feel like something is watching us, and i know there is, there is always is whether its and animal or a spirit. but sometimes those spirits, or beings, are just so strong of a force. what if we bought a property with one of those that wouldnt be able to make peace with us? i always imagined if we ended up with a property with strong entities then we would make peace and ring singing bowls and plant luscious plants for them. but what if they hate it all. and what if our neighbors down the street end up being cannabilistic cult people? what if some animal tried to maul my dog (which already happens frequently, shes a chihuahua everything is out to get her). what if something happens at oak ridge? i had no idea i was living next to a giant nuclear power plant thing.

Francis invites his humanimal friends for a nice snuggle in the barn. With a face like that, how could one deny him love and attention?

Our new friends in the Explore.org community report that our new live-streaming cameras offer a daily dose of peace and tranquility. “SheepCam helps me stay calm on a hectic work day. The residents of our New York Shelter’s sheep barn (the sheep, plus a few of their goat friends) seem to know that spring is on its way! In anticipation, it seems they’re spending some extra time huddling together with their loved ones, as if to conserve plenty of energy for the longer days ahead.

“New Digs” for Two Special Pigs!

When we last checked in with Ponyboy and Wilma Jean, the porcine pals had found peace and companionship at Farm Sanctuary’s Northern California Shelter. These friends came to us from separate situations, but together, they are changing hearts and minds about what our relationships with pigs — and other farm animals — can be when we choose to put compassion first.

Safe at sanctuary, Ponyboy and Wilma Jean each blossomed. Here, we know that every animal is an individual with his or her unique personality, preferences, and needs. In many cases, the animals who come to us will require diligent monitoring and treatment for the rest of their lives — and they’ll receive it here at Farm Sanctuary. But others, like Ponyboy and Wilma Jean, are able to be placed in loving forever homes through our Farm Animal Adoption Network. In this way, they continue to receive the love and individualized care they deserve — and we’re able help more animals in need.

Ponyboy and Wilma Jean were ready for the next step in their rescue journey, and Farm Sanctuary staffers Elise McClelland and Dean Adickes accompanied the pair on the 14-hour trip from Orland, CA, to their new home at Sage Mountain, near Park City, UT. Although we were sad to see them go, we’re “rooting” for them in their exciting new adventure and will always be there should they or their adoptive “parents” need anything! At Sage Mountain, these sprightly youngsters will live life to the fullest — and we’re excited to cheer them on as they continue to inspire people to make compassionate choices for animals just like them.

A Birthday Wish and a Happy New Arrival!

Meanwhile, at our Southern California Shelter, we recently celebrated a new arrival of our own! Meet Von D, a lovable and charming piglet who will spend the rest of her life at Farm Sanctuary — where she'll be forever valued as someone, not something.

As you may have guessed, Von D is named for Kat Von D, an inspiring animal advocate whose kindness, passion, dedication, and generosity are making an enormous difference for farm animals just like her piglet namesake!

(RED BLUFF, Calif) — A man drove into a Northern California distribution center and started shooting at people, killing an employee and wounding four others before he was killed by police, authorities said.

The shooting by a 31-year-old man with a semi-automatic rifle started about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Walmart distribution center south of Red Bluff, a city of about 14,000 people about 131 miles (210 kilometers) north of Sacramento, California.

Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston said at a news conference that the shooter circled the parking lot four times before crashing into the building and opening fire with the rifle. Red Bluff Police officers shot and killed the suspect, KHSL-TV reported.

The employee who died was Martin Haro-Lozano, 45, of Orland, California, Johnston said.

Officials did not identify the shooter, but Johnston said he has a history with the Red Bluff workplace.

The shooting victims were taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff, spokeswoman Allison Hendrickson told The Associated Press. She confirmed that four were hospitalized, but declined to provide more details.

Some of the 200 workers inside the facility locked themselves in a room , employees told KHSL-TV.

The suspect was shot in the chest about 3:45 p.m., dispatchers told the newspaper.

Scott Thammakhanty, an employee at the facility’s receiving center, told the Redding Record-Searchlight that he heard the shooter fire from the rifle.

“It went on and on — I don’t even know how many times he fired,” Thammakhanty said. “I just know it was a lot.”

Thammakhanty and others started running for their lives, and he saw people lying on the ground as he went, he said.

Fellow employee Franklin Lister told the New York Times he had just started work when a coworker ran down the hallway shouting: “Active gunfire! Active shooter!”

Vince Krick told the Record-Searchlight that his wife and son work at the facility and he was on his way to pick up his wife when he saw the flames. Neither was hurt, but his wife told him not to come to the front entrance, the newspaper reported.

“It was real crazy, because, you know, you can’t do nothing,” Krick said.

Dispatchers told the Record-Searchlight that at least one woman had been shot. A man had also reported his leg being run over when the shooter rammed a vehicle into the building, but the man wasn’t sure if he had been shot, dispatchers said.

Walmart spokesman Scott Pope told the Record-Searchlight that the company was “aware of the situation” and working with law enforcement.
