"Does this mean that you are willing to subject yourself to a lengthy explanation on the differences between Atwater Kent, Zenith, and Crosley radios?"
Do not get his hopes up otherwise. He will pull out the blackboard diagrams right now.

Alastor has multiple hideaways, but his main home is his radio tower. while he has a small radio tower attached to the hotel, this is his main home. this tower is hidden away in a sort of pocket dimension, not unlike where the tendrils he summons through the void rest.
it is a home with multiple stories stacked high. the first floor is standard, an entryway, parlor, kitchen and dining area. his bedroom sits on the second floor with his sitting areas, which give him space for his multiple hobbies. the fourth floor is his radio station from which he broadcasts the murders of many of his victims, but before that, any who enter must first pass through the third floor.
it acts simply as a ferry towards the staircase that leads to Alastor’s radio station. it’s a hall, lined floor to ceiling with dozens of radios that are modeled after the 1934 Atwater Kent. each and every radio acts as a permanent prison to those who have risked the Radio Demon’s wrath. they are tiny pocket dimensions that house Overlords, sinner demons and even hellborn who have crossed Alastor.
each radio houses its own soul, and they are stuck in an endless loop of torture for all eternity. Alastor crafted each radio and each dimension to perfectly suit its inhabitant, and so they line his walls, buzzing normally with white static until his very presence makes them all begin to scream and cry. it is a beautiful, endless form of entertainment.
lovingly, Alastor has dubbed this room “Hell’s Final Curtain Calls.”

Antietam’s Gory Aftermath: How the Union Army’s Post-Battle Occupation Devastated Sharpsburg’s Civilians
Sharpsburg civilians watch in morbid curiosity as fields adjacent to the Sunken Road formerly used for agriculture are tilled for mass graves by troops of the 130th Pennsylvania, in this Frank Schell drawing. Such conditions forced some families to move from the area. (© Philadelphia History Museum at the Atwater Kent/Courtesy of the Friends Historical Association Collection, Philadelphia History…

Nathan Sherman and his son David pose next to three bushels of bulk candy in this photo of the Sherman Pharmacy at 35th St. and Villard Ave. The photo was taken in 1927. An old-fashioned marble-topped soda fountain and booths behind the Shermans await customers, while a stately Atwater Kent radio seen behind the patron provides news and background music. Elaborate silk fanlike displays radiating from the tin ceiling highlight the Richard Hudnut cosmetics line. The Shermans operated their pharmacy from about 1900 to 1945. Photo and information courtesy of David Sherman and the Milwaukee Public Library Local History Collection. "Remember When" is prepared by the Milwaukee Public Library with resources from the local history collection. If you have an old photo (sorry, but we can't use photos of large groups, such as graduation classes) that you would like to submit for this series, send it to the Milwaukee Public Library, Local History Collection, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee 53201. All photos are copied and returned promptly. (Note: The newspaper feature ceased in 1994. Please do not send photos for Remember When.)

Did a bit more work on the Atwater Kent model 33 tonight. This time I’m replacing the 3 grid resistors. The original wire-wound ones had gone bad (well 2 of them had). I had a think on how I wanted to replace them since I thought they fit the overall aesthetic of the radio.
I didn’t think just soldering in some replacement resistors would look very good, so I came up with an idea to create some cool looking enclosures for the modern parts. First I got some wire lugs with the right sized diameter ring at the top, then I soldered in resistors until I got the 800ohm value I needed.
Next I insulated the resistors from the outer copper tubing so they would be safer. I’d cut 3 pieces of copper tubing to the right length, polished them up a bit, then mounted them to the rest of the assembly with heat-shrink.
Last 2 pictures show the before and after. Overall, very happy with these. Hopefully the wattage ends up being correct... they’re each 3/4 watt with all the resistors together. Don’t know what the original wattage was, so I guess we’ll see when I power it up. :D
Stay tuned for more unnecessarily complex solutions to simple problems!

The household radio was up and coming technology in the 1920s. This radio, from 1926, was produced by Atwater Kent, the largest radio manufacturer in the United States at the time. The technology continued to expand, and according to the U.S. Census, over 80% of U.S. households owned a radio by 1940.
