Boost Your Marketing ROI with Smart Audience Segmentation Strategies
In today’s competitive marketing landscape, delivering the right message to the right people at the right time is crucial to maximizing your marketing efforts. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is through audience segmentation. Audience segmentation allows businesses to tailor their marketing messages, offers, and campaigns to specific groups within their broader target audience, ensuring that their marketing efforts are not only relevant but also highly effective.
In this blog, we’ll explore why audience segmentation is key to boosting your marketing ROI, and how you can implement smart strategies to identify and target the most valuable audience segments for your business.
What is Audience Segmentation?
Audience segmentation is the process of dividing a broad target audience into smaller, more defined groups based on specific characteristics. These characteristics can include demographics, psychographics, behavior patterns, location, and other factors that influence buying decisions. By understanding the unique needs, preferences, and behaviors of each segment, businesses can tailor their marketing strategies to meet those specific needs, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
Effective audience segmentation not only improves targeting accuracy but also ensures that marketing messages resonate with the right people, driving higher engagement, conversion rates, and ultimately, a better return on investment (ROI).
Why Audience Segmentation is Crucial for Boosting Marketing ROI
Personalized Marketing Efforts
Personalization is one of the most significant benefits of audience segmentation. When you segment your audience, you can create personalized content, offers, and messages that speak directly to each group’s specific needs and preferences. This personal touch makes your marketing efforts more relevant and engaging, increasing the likelihood that your audience will take the desired action, whether that’s making a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, or sharing your content.
For example, a clothing retailer could create distinct marketing campaigns for different age groups, offering promotions on activewear for younger audiences and formal wear for older segments. Personalization like this not only improves engagement but also boosts conversion rates.
Improved Customer Experience
By targeting customers with tailored messaging that speaks directly to their preferences and pain points, you’re enhancing their overall experience with your brand. When customers feel that you understand their specific needs, they are more likely to trust your brand and become repeat buyers. Audience segmentation enables you to deliver that experience at scale, ensuring that your marketing strategy is more customer-centric.
Cost-Effective Marketing
Not all audience segments are equally valuable. Some segments may be more likely to purchase, while others may require more nurturing. By segmenting your audience effectively, you can allocate resources where they will have the most impact. Instead of wasting budget on broad campaigns that may reach people who are unlikely to convert, you can invest more in high-potential segments, improving your overall marketing efficiency.
For instance, if you run a subscription box service, you may find that your early adopters respond best to new product launches, while more price-sensitive customers prefer discounts. By targeting each group with the right messaging, you can allocate your budget more effectively to maximize ROI.
Better Measurement and Analysis
When you segment your audience, you gain deeper insights into how different groups are responding to your marketing campaigns. This segmentation allows you to measure the performance of your efforts more precisely, identifying which segments are driving the highest engagement and conversion rates. These insights enable you to continuously optimize your campaigns, making data-driven decisions that improve your marketing ROI over time.
Competitive Advantage
In a crowded marketplace, differentiation is key. Audience segmentation helps you stand out by enabling you to communicate your unique value propositions to specific groups that are most likely to benefit from your products or services. By effectively targeting the right audience, you position your brand as a solution to their unique problems, making it easier to win their loyalty and outpace your competitors.
Smart Audience Segmentation Strategies for Marketing Success
Now that we’ve established the importance of audience segmentation, let’s take a look at some smart strategies to implement it effectively.
1. Use Demographic Data
Demographics such as age, gender, income, education level, and occupation are foundational to audience segmentation. By understanding who your customers are, you can tailor your marketing messages to resonate with their specific needs. For example, if you’re selling luxury products, targeting high-income earners with premium messaging will likely drive better results.
2. Leverage Psychographic Segmentation
Psychographic segmentation involves analyzing customers based on their lifestyles, values, interests, and behaviors. By delving into the motivations and preferences of your audience, you can create messaging that aligns with their personal beliefs or desires. For example, a brand that promotes sustainability can target environmentally conscious consumers who prioritize eco-friendly products.
3. Behavioral Segmentation
Behavioral segmentation looks at how customers interact with your brand, such as their purchase history, website activity, and engagement with previous campaigns. This type of segmentation allows you to predict future behavior and create targeted campaigns based on past actions. For instance, you can create special offers for customers who have abandoned their shopping carts or send personalized recommendations based on their browsing habits.
4. Geographic Segmentation
Geographic segmentation divides your audience based on their location, whether that’s by country, region, city, or even neighborhood. This strategy is particularly useful for businesses with local or regional markets, as it allows you to tailor your messaging to specific cultural, seasonal, or regional factors. For example, a restaurant chain can target local customers with promotions based on seasonal events or holidays unique to that location.
5. Customer Lifecycle Segmentation
Different segments of your audience are at various stages of their customer journey, and segmenting based on lifecycle stage can improve targeting. Whether someone is a first-time visitor, a loyal customer, or a lapsed buyer, tailoring your messaging to where they are in the buying process increases the chances of conversion. For example, a first-time buyer might receive a welcome discount, while a repeat customer may get access to exclusive offers.
Conclusion
Audience segmentation is a game-changer when it comes to boosting marketing ROI. By understanding your audience’s diverse needs and behaviors, you can craft personalized campaigns that resonate deeply, enhance the customer experience, and drive higher conversion rates. Whether you're using demographic, psychographic, behavioral, geographic, or lifecycle segmentation, the key is to leverage the right data to target the most valuable segments effectively.
By implementing smart audience segmentation strategies, you can maximize your marketing impact, reduce wasteful spending, and ultimately improve your bottom line. Take the time to segment your audience effectively, and watch your marketing efforts pay off with increased engagement, loyalty, and sales.

Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing: A Deep Dive into Audience Engagement
In the rapidly evolving world of digital marketing, standing out in the crowd is becoming more challenging every day. With consumers being bombarded by ads at every turn, marketers are increasingly focused on finding ways to deliver messages that resonate with their target audience. One of the most powerful strategies emerging in recent years is Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing. This approach leverages data about users' online behavior to tailor ads and content specifically to them, ultimately increasing engagement and conversion rates.
But what exactly is Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing, and why is it becoming such an essential tool for modern marketers? Let's explore this concept and its impact on the digital advertising landscape.
What is Behavioral Targeting?
At its core, behavioral targeting is the practice of collecting data on an individual's online activity to create a more personalized advertising experience. This data can include things like search history, pages visited, time spent on different websites, clicks, and interactions with ads. By analyzing this data, marketers can gain insights into what a person is interested in and tailor their advertising efforts accordingly.
In the context of Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing, this data is used to create targeted ads and campaigns that are more likely to appeal to specific groups of users. For instance, if a user frequently visits fitness websites and purchases workout gear online, they might start seeing ads for gym memberships or nutritional supplements tailored to their interests. This approach not only improves the relevance of the ads being shown but also enhances the user's overall experience.
How Does Behavioral Targeting Work?
Behavioral targeting works by tracking various types of user data through cookies, web beacons, and other tracking technologies. These tools allow marketers to gather information about users as they navigate different websites and interact with various types of content. This data is then used to segment users into different categories based on their behaviors.
Once users are segmented, advertisers can create highly specific campaigns for each group. For example, someone who frequently searches for eco-friendly products might be shown ads promoting sustainable fashion brands, while someone who visits travel blogs regularly might see ads for vacation packages. By aligning the content with the user's interests, Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing increases the chances of a positive response.
Another critical aspect of behavioral targeting is real-time adaptation. Modern algorithms can adjust ads dynamically based on user actions. So, if someone shows interest in a particular product but doesn’t purchase it, they might later encounter a remarketing ad offering them a discount or incentive to complete the purchase. This kind of targeted remarketing is one of the most effective strategies for boosting conversion rates.
The Benefits of Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing
Enhanced Personalization: One of the most significant advantages of behavioral targeting is the level of personalization it offers. Consumers are more likely to engage with ads that align with their interests and needs. By delivering relevant content, companies can foster a more personalized relationship with their audience.
Higher Engagement Rates: Because behavioral targeting delivers more relevant ads, users are more inclined to interact with them. Whether it’s clicking on the ad, exploring the website, or even making a purchase, behavioral targeting has been shown to boost engagement significantly.
Increased Conversion Rates: The ultimate goal of any marketing campaign is to convert users into customers. By tailoring ads to a user's behavior and preferences, Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing increases the likelihood of conversion, ensuring that the right message reaches the right person at the right time.
Cost Efficiency: Traditional marketing strategies often involve a lot of trial and error, with businesses paying to display ads to large, untargeted audiences. Behavioral targeting, on the other hand, ensures that ads are only shown to individuals who are most likely to engage with them. This targeted approach can lead to better results while reducing unnecessary spending.
Improved User Experience: While ads are often seen as intrusive, behavioral targeting can actually enhance the user's online experience by providing content that is relevant to their needs. Instead of seeing generic ads, users are shown ads that are more likely to interest them, making their time online more enjoyable and productive.
The Ethical Side of Behavioral Targeting
While Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing offers numerous benefits, it is essential to address the ethical considerations surrounding the practice. Privacy concerns are a significant issue, as some consumers may feel uncomfortable with the idea of their online behavior being tracked and used for marketing purposes.
To combat these concerns, marketers must be transparent about how they collect and use data. Implementing opt-in options, allowing users to control their data preferences, and adhering to regulations such as GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) are essential steps in ensuring that behavioral targeting remains ethical and respectful of consumer privacy.
Future of Behavioral Targeting
As technology continues to advance, so will the capabilities of Behavioral Targeting in Digital Marketing. With the increasing use of artificial intelligence and machine learning, marketers will have access to even more sophisticated tools for understanding user behavior and delivering highly personalized content.
In the future, we can expect to see more predictive analytics being used to anticipate user behavior before it happens, further improving the effectiveness of behavioral targeting. Additionally, with the rise of voice search and smart devices, new data points will emerge, allowing marketers to create even more targeted and relevant campaigns.

Audience Segmentation
Audience segmentation is a crucial strategy in modern marketing, enabling businesses to identify and target distinct groups within their broader audience. By understanding the specific needs, preferences, and behaviors of these segments, companies can tailor their marketing efforts to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. This article delves into the concept of audience segmentation, exploring its types, benefits, implementation steps, challenges, and future trends. Whether you are a seasoned marketer or new to the field, this guide will provide valuable insights into harnessing the power of audience segmentation for your business success.
What is Audience Segmentation?
Audience segmentation is the process of dividing a broad consumer or business market, normally consisting of existing and potential customers, into sub-groups of consumers based on some type of shared characteristics. By grouping individuals who have similar needs and behaviors, businesses can target their marketing efforts more effectively, creating more personalized and efficient marketing strategies.
Components of Audience Segmentation:
Demographics: This involves segmenting the audience based on quantifiable population characteristics such as age, gender, income, education, and occupation. For example, a luxury car brand might target high-income individuals in their marketing efforts.
Psychographics: This segmentation focuses on the psychological aspects of consumer behavior including lifestyle, values, interests, and opinions. For instance, a fitness brand might target health-conscious individuals who value wellness and an active lifestyle.
Behavioral: This type of segmentation looks at consumer behaviors such as purchasing habits, brand loyalty, usage rate, and benefits sought. A streaming service might segment users based on their viewing habits and preferences.
Geographic: This involves segmenting the market based on geographic boundaries such as country, region, city, or neighborhood. A local restaurant might target nearby residents with its promotional campaigns.
By understanding and utilizing these components, businesses can develop more focused and effective marketing strategies that resonate with their target audience.
Importance of Audience Segmentation
Targeted Marketing: Audience segmentation allows businesses to target specific groups of customers more accurately. By identifying the unique needs and preferences of each segment, companies can tailor their marketing messages to address these specific interests, leading to higher engagement and conversion rates. For instance, a company selling baby products can specifically target new parents rather than the general population, making their marketing efforts more effective.
Personalization: Segmentation enables a higher degree of personalization in marketing efforts. Personalization involves customizing messages and offers to fit the individual characteristics and preferences of each segment. This approach not only enhances customer satisfaction but also fosters loyalty and long-term relationships. For example, personalized email marketing campaigns can result in higher open and click-through rates compared to generic emails.
Efficiency: Effective segmentation leads to better allocation of marketing resources. By focusing on specific segments, businesses can allocate their budget more efficiently, ensuring that their marketing efforts yield the best possible returns. This prevents the wastage of resources on broad, untargeted campaigns. Additionally, segmentation helps in identifying the most profitable segments, allowing businesses to prioritize their marketing efforts accordingly.
Steps to Implement Audience Segmentation
Data Collection: Effective audience segmentation starts with collecting relevant data about your audience. This can be done through various methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and analyzing existing customer data. Businesses can also use tools like CRM systems, web analytics, and social media insights to gather comprehensive data.
Segmentation Criteria: Once data is collected, the next step is to determine the criteria for segmentation. This involves identifying which characteristics are most relevant to your business goals. For instance, a company looking to increase customer loyalty might focus on behavioral segmentation, while a brand aiming to expand its market might consider geographic segmentation.
Creating Segments: After determining the criteria, businesses can categorize and define segments. This involves grouping individuals with similar characteristics into distinct segments. Each segment should be measurable, accessible, substantial, and actionable. It’s important to ensure that segments are not too broad or too narrow.
Testing and Analysis: Before fully implementing segmentation strategies, it’s crucial to test and analyze the segments. This involves running pilot campaigns and measuring their effectiveness. Businesses should analyze the results to identify which segments respond best to different marketing strategies. Based on this analysis, adjustments can be made to optimize segmentation efforts.
Conclusion
In conclusion, audience segmentation is a powerful tool for businesses to enhance their marketing efforts. By understanding and targeting specific groups within their broader audience, companies can create more personalized and efficient marketing strategies. This not only improves engagement and conversion rates but also optimizes resource allocation. As technology continues to evolve and consumer behavior shifts, businesses must stay adaptable and leverage advancements in AI and data analytics to refine their segmentation strategies. Implementing effective audience segmentation can lead to significant business growth and customer satisfaction.

Transforming Customer Insights into Actionable Marketing Strategies
In today's digital age, the goldmine of customer insights we sit on is staggering. But here's the kicker: having data is one thing; using it to turbocharge your marketing strategy is another ball game entirely. And for those not yet converting these insights into action, let's just say you're missing a trick, big time.
Customer insights are like the secret sauce to your marketing strategy, offering a direct line to what your audience wants, needs, and expects from your brand. But it’s not just about collecting data; it’s about decoding it, understanding the story it tells, and then crafting marketing strategies that hit right at the heart of your target audience. It's this bespoke approach, tailored to the unique preferences and behaviours of your audience, that can elevate your brand from background noise to centre stage in the highly competitive UK market.
Now, I hear you ask, "How do we make this leap from insights to action?" First off, it’s about getting under the skin of your data. Use advanced analytics to segment your audience, predict behaviours, and identify trends. Then, it’s about agility; taking those insights and rapidly turning them into personalised marketing campaigns that speak directly to the consumer. In essence, it’s about being as dynamic and fluid as the market itself, always ready to pivot based on fresh insights.

But beware, complacency is the enemy. The digital landscape is evolving at breakneck speed, and today's groundbreaking insight could be tomorrow's old news. This is where the urgency kicks in; staying ahead of the curve is not just advisable, it's essential. If you're not continuously iterating and optimising your strategies based on the latest customer insights, you're not just standing still, you're moving backwards, while more data-savvy competitors sprint ahead.
So, here’s the bottom line: transforming customer insights into actionable marketing strategies isn't just an advantage; it's a necessity in the modern digital age. Fail to do so, and you risk being left in the digital dust by competitors who understand the value of listening to, and acting on, what their data is telling them. The future belongs to those who can not only gather insights but who can turn these insights into action swiftly and smartly. Don't let FOMO be your wake-up call. Get ahead, stay ahead, and let your customer insights guide you to marketing glory.

Content Amplification Tactics: Boosting Visibility Through Distribution
Introduction
In today's digital age, where information is abundant and attention spans are fleeting, creating high-quality content is just the beginning. To truly succeed in the online realm, mastering content distribution is essential. It's not enough to create compelling articles, videos, or infographics; you must also strategically disseminate them to your target audience for maximum reach and engagement. In this blog, we will delve into effective strategies that can help you master content distribution and achieve unparalleled visibility.
1. Understand Your Audience
Before embarking on any content distribution journey, you must have a deep understanding of your target audience. Who are they? What problems do they face? What interests them? This knowledge will guide your distribution strategy, ensuring your content reaches the right people at the right time. By creating buyer personas and segmenting your audience, you can tailor your distribution channels and messages accordingly.
2. Leverage Multichannel Distribution
To cast a wide net and maximize your content's exposure, embrace multichannel distribution. This means distributing your content across various platforms, such as social media, email marketing, industry forums, and relevant websites. Each channel has its own unique audience, and by diversifying your distribution, you increase the likelihood of reaching a broader spectrum of potential readers or viewers.
3. Create a Distribution Calendar
When it comes to content dissemination, consistency is essential. Establish a distribution calendar that outlines when and where you will share your content. This helps maintain a steady flow of information, keeping your audience engaged and informed. Furthermore, a distribution calendar allows you to align your content with important industry events, holidays, and trends for maximum relevance.
lets connect for more insight: https://ventesb2b.com/contact-2/
4. Personalize Your Approach
Personalization is a powerful tool in content distribution. Tailor your content to resonate with different segments of your audience. Use data-driven insights to craft personalized messages and recommendations based on your audience's preferences, behaviors, and demographics. Personalized content is more likely to capture attention and foster engagement.
5. Optimize for SEO
Search engine optimization (SEO) plays a crucial role in content distribution. When your content is optimized for search engines, it becomes more discoverable by those actively seeking relevant information. Conduct keyword research to identify the terms your audience uses to search for content in your niche. Incorporate these keywords naturally into your content and metadata to enhance your content's visibility on search engine results pages.
6. Embrace Social Media
Platforms for social media dissemination are a veritable mine of content. Choose the platforms where your target audience is most active, and then adjust your content to fit the requirements of each platform's audience and platform's format. Engage with your audience through comments, shares, and direct interactions, fostering a sense of community and building brand loyalty.
7. Collaborate and Guest Post
Collaboration is a potent tool for expanding the audience for your material. Partner with influencers, industry experts, or complementary brands to co-create or share each other's content. Additionally, guest posting on reputable websites in your industry not only expands your content's reach but also positions you as an authority in your field.
8. Leverage Email Marketing
Email marketing remains one of the most effective distribution methods. Send newsletters or content updates to your subscriber list, providing them with valuable insights, updates, and resources. Segment your email list to deliver content that aligns with each subscriber's interests, increasing the likelihood of engagement.
9. Measure and Iterate
To continuously improve your content distribution strategy, you need to measure its effectiveness. Use analytics tools to track key metrics such as website traffic, engagement rates, click-through rates, and social media shares. Analyze this data to identify which distribution channels and strategies are delivering the best results. Adjust your approach accordingly to optimize your content distribution efforts.
Conclusion
Mastering content distribution is a dynamic process that requires a deep understanding of your audience, strategic planning, and ongoing optimization. By leveraging multichannel distribution, personalization, SEO, social media, collaboration, and more, you can ensure your content reaches its intended audience and achieves the maximum reach and impact it deserves. Remember, content distribution is not a one-size-fits-all approach; it requires constant adaptation and refinement to keep
up with changing trends and audience preferences. So, embrace these strategies, measure your results, and continue refining your approach for content distribution success.

The Importance of Audience Segmentation in Google Ads in 2023
Introduction: The Evolving Landscape of Google Ads
In the ever-changing world of digital advertising, Google Ads continues to be a powerhouse for businesses seeking to reach their target audience effectively. As we step into 2023, the importance of audience segmentation in Google Ads cannot be overstated. Understanding and targeting specific groups of potential customers has become essential for success in the competitive online advertising landscape. In this article, we will explore why audience segmentation matters and how it can elevate your Google Ads campaigns to new heights.

What is Audience Segmentation?
Audience segmentation refers to the process of dividing a broader target audience into distinct and specific subgroups based on shared characteristics, behaviors, and preferences. By doing so, advertisers can tailor their ad content, bids, and placements to resonate with each segmented group, optimizing the relevance and impact of their ads.
The Significance of Audience Segmentation in Google Ads
1. Enhanced Relevance and Personalization
Audience segmentation allows advertisers to create highly relevant and personalized ad experiences for different groups of users. When ads align with users' interests and needs, they are more likely to engage with the content and take the desired actions, such as clicking on the ad or making a purchase.
2. Improved Ad Performance
By targeting specific audience segments, businesses can optimize their ad spend and ensure that their ads are displayed to the most relevant users. This leads to higher click-through rates (CTRs), improved ad relevance scores, and ultimately, better ad performance.
3. Increased Conversion Rates
When ads are tailored to address the unique pain points and desires of a particular audience segment, the likelihood of converting leads into customers significantly increases. A well-crafted ad that speaks directly to a user's needs can foster a sense of trust and confidence, driving conversions.
4. Cost-Effectiveness
Audience segmentation helps avoid wasting ad spend on irrelevant audiences. Instead, businesses can allocate their budget more efficiently, focusing on the segments that are most likely to yield positive results. This cost-effectiveness is especially crucial in a competitive advertising landscape.
5. Better Understanding of Customers
Segmentation provides valuable insights into the behavior and preferences of different customer groups. This understanding can inform broader marketing strategies and product development efforts, leading to long-term business growth.
How to Segment Your Google Ads Audience
To leverage the benefits of audience segmentation, businesses can employ various tactics and strategies. Here are some effective ways to segment your Google Ads audience:
1. Demographic Segmentation
Divide your audience based on demographic factors such as age, gender, location, income, and marital status. Understanding these characteristics can help tailor ads to specific demographics.
2. Behavioral Segmentation
Segment your audience based on their online behavior, including previous interactions with your website, search history, and engagement with past ads. This allows for personalized retargeting and messaging.
3. Psychographic Segmentation
Consider the interests, values, attitudes, and lifestyle choices of your audience. Psychographic segmentation enables the creation of ads that resonate with the psychological aspects of your target customers.
4. Device and Platform Segmentation
Segment your audience based on the devices and platforms they use. This ensures that your ads are optimized for different devices, such as desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
5. Customer Journey Stage Segmentation
Identify where your audience stands in the customer journey—awareness, consideration, or decision-making stage. Tailor your ads to address the specific needs of users at each stage.

MOON 11 (Silver Box Segment)
<< FIRST | < PREVIOUS |
ASK. Welcome to the Silver Box mechanic!
For those who have experienced this segment before - welcome back! For those who are new readers, or this is your first Silver Box Segment, this is a way for ForestClan to include the audience into the narrative. Rootgrove possibly holds answers that you do not have. Pry information from the beast, and give Shiverpaw the knowledge she needs to protect her Clan. A refresher on the ground rules:
You don’t need to use my ask box; replies will work too! The ask box just allows you to be anonymous. Keep in mind that if you use replies and your question is answered, you will be pinged on the response post!
Question segment SHOULD end in about a week, but with the influx of new readers since my first segment + upcomming Easter/Passover next week, I MAY have to extend it. Beware, however! Not all answers may be honest. Prior interactions revealed that the Silver Box answers with two voices - only one of them is Rootgrove, the other are the Deep Roots bound to him.
The questions you ask will determine the amount of knowledge Shiverpaw has in the narrative of ForestClan’s story. This might affect what decisions she can make in the future. Consider Shiverpaw a party member you’re trying to guide!
ADDITIONAL NOTE: I cannot promise every question will be answered, since I'm just one person managing everything. The last time I had the Silver Box segment, I was working from home and drew answers on my breaks, now I am in office and cannot, lol. Shiverpaw will try to give Rootgrove the most pertinent messages she can!

I find it so interesting you mentioned you'd frame a hypothetical Trojan War adaptation from the pov of Sarpedon. Why him specifically?
so i've thought an embarrassing amount about how i'd construct a trojan war movie. it'd be divided into several segments with a different main character for each segment, so that the story of the trojan war is told non-linearly, with homer acting as a narrator to help the audience along.
i'd want sarpedon to be the star of that first segment (and the audiences' first introduction to the war and the rules of this universe) because i think he's perfect for establishing a lot of key ideas: the gods' investment in the war; the concept of demigods; how all these men have a life at home (sarpedon misses his wife and infant son); that anyone mortal can die, even those beloved by gods; and most importantly (because i've yet to see this in any adaptation and i want to prioritize it!) the very real and horrifying metaphysical consequences of not receiving proper funeral rites. i want the audience to fully understand that these men do not fear death as much as they fear what comes after (for their souls/psuche/that part that IS them) if their bodies should be hacked apart or left as carrion. i want sarpedon's death, the destruction his body, and the nightmarish fate of his being that can never enter the underworld, to resonate sooo hard through the rest of the movie. i want every viewer to understand later why patroclus' compatriots would risk their own lives to retrieve his corpse, and just how horrifying it is that achilles refuses hector to his face to return his corpse unharmed to his family.
sarpedon would be the narrative key to how death works in my epic movie, pretty much.
#after the fate of sarpedon i want the audience to be FURIOUS with that achaean fucker that killed him#apparently his name is patroclus and because we've only had sarpedon's pov so far they'll be like 'who the FUCK is PATROCLUS'#and haha guess who is the main (and equally sympathetic) character of the next segment which picks up the thread at an earlier time#god can you tell mapping out this non-existent film is my happy place
