TERRY ANN, HUMANITY CO (AI) SONG!
Everything was made by ai minus the lyrics, I take no credit!
LYRICS!
[Verse] Overworked and terrified, you’re overreacting!
what’s got you so worried?
Well, the boss is up to something and the ai is acting up!
Fuck this, I’ve had enough, now go clock out.
Your shift is done, not gonna acknowledge all this burn out
You wanna leave! You’re going to cry! Just go through the doors and you’re gonna be fine!
Uh oh..
How am I back at my desk…?
[Verse 2] Headphones on, dials and wires! Mind trapped in files, my anxiety fires!
I can’t escape this office job! Stuck looking at computer screens, coffee spills and lost files
It’s a miracle you can’t hear my screams!
Input commands, don’t talk back I can’t remember when I last seen the sun! My head is overwhelmed with static!
Wheres all the Humanity!?
Screens flash danger, can’t cut back and run. I pray someone finds a way out
[Chorus] Cycle spinning, clock never stops Cogs in the madness, anxiety drops Trapped in the circuit, nowhere to go Digital prison, heart's too slow
[Verse 3] Breakroom break-ins, secrets they keep Humans, machines, i’m in too deep Can’t trust the gossip, the walls got ears Paranoid heartbeat, I’ve got programmed fears
[Bridge] Can’t leave, can’t die, circuits closed tight.. someone tell pal to stop glaring at me!
Endless data streams, coding through the night. I can’t hear myself think over these computer keys!
Digitized nightmare, heart full of static Panic mode on, life mode on automatic!
I can’t trust myself, I need a way out, I just hope they finally let go of meee!
God knows they won’t let me quit…
[Chorus] Cycle spinning, clock never stops Cogs in the madness, anxiety drops Trapped in the circuit, nowhere to go Digital prison, heart's too slow
Headphones on, dials and wires!
[chorus] Where’s all your humanity!?
These AI’s be acting too familiar to me.
Holding my briefcase tight, don’t wanna be here but I’m in too deep! Gonna cry if I don’t do this right!
Where’s all the humanity!?
[verse 4] I’m ripping out my hair trying to finish this work, gonna have an attack before I even make it to the desk
Got jitters and my fears taking over every room, coding to keep them happy. Just smile and try not to think hard about how they trapped me
I don’t wanna be here I just wanna go home! Back to mom, my farm and all my Froyos
I don’t belong here in this suit and tie, mom please answer my calls I’m gonna fucking cry
Headphones on, dials and wires! Mind trapped in files, my anxiety fires
I can’t escape this office job Stuck looking at computer screens, coffee spills and lost files
Why can’t you hear my screams?

New-to-me (horror) movies seen in 2023: Phenomena (1985)
@goryhorroor ’s challenge: Horror with bugs
What the fuck. What the fuck.
Jennifer loves bugs, and they love her. They love her so much they make mating calls to her and sometimes obey her commands, making her either a Batman villain or space royalty from Jupiter Ascending. There's also a black-gloved killer stalking her school, Donald Pleasance in "I'll act in anything" mode, a friendly chimpanzee in what appears to be painful estrus, and something chained up that breaks its chains to kill. Also a roommate who expresses the desire to sleep with Jennifer's dad, right to Jennifer's face.
I found this early Dario Argento film while looking through the giallo collection on Shudder, which proves how limiting genre terminology can be. It is indeed a pulpy Italian mystery film, but it's like no other I've ever seen. You can see the seeds of Argento's eventual fall from cinematic grace here, but you can also see why he was considered so revolutionary at his height. Take Suspiria, dial down the art direction and dial up the madness, and this is what you get.
Jennifer looks exactly like Sarah from Labyrinth because she's played by Jennifer Connelly, and it's not exactly an Oscar-winning performance; still, there's something very adorable about a gothic heroine who dotes on bees and calls out "I love you! I love you all!" to a swarm of flies. Here's another pitch for Phenomena: What if Carrie wasn't the killer? Her teachers try to lock her up and say words like "schizophrenia", but if I'd just seen a student threaten her bullies with so many bugs they block out the sky, I think I'd give her straight As while cowering- or start working towards a Nobel Prize.
In great giallo tradition, the final twist is a bit silly and provides evidence only at the very last minute, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thoroughly entertained. And hey, any movie that involves "Murder in the Rue Morgue but the ape is the good guy" as a subplot is automatically interesting!

The Parts for a Clock: Analog or Digital?

The parts for a clock comprise what one might anticipate, specifically, dial, clock hands, and movement (motor), plus possibly numerous devices. These clock parts nowadays run online, rather than mechanically, meaning generally that the activity is developed around a quartz crystal and powered electrically. But an additional difference can be drawn, that between analog and digital discussion.
Parts for an analog clock that show time are the well-known hour and min hands revolving clockwise while superimposed above a printed dial. Their digital equivalents employ 7-segment numerical displays, which are carried out using LEDs, and thus combine hands and dial right into a unified presentation. In this post we discover the comparison in between these sorts of parts.
For example, to order analog dials, one must learn a number of choices. The numerals on the face may be Arabic or Roman-- or, possibly, simply place-holder icons-- and numerous alternatives are given for the background color of the dial. There are fewer shade options for hands, though a considerable variety of design options.
The typical clock movements were analog just and made up a host of analog parts. The potential power of a hanging weight or coiled spring was exchanged kinetic energy forcibly a flywheel to rotate, and a pendulum-escapement combo gave timing guideline. Gears networked with each other computed proper proportions for positioning each hand.
The modern-day motion is digital, with a reverberating quartz crystal providing power using vibrating pulses. Community of pulse matters (in software) returns timing details for tracking secs, mins, and hours. Nonetheless, display screen of this information can be done electronically or in analog.
To an informal viewer, making use of analog parts managed by a digital motion actually looks no various than the old mechanical clocks (except that it may not be as cumbersome). However the 7-segment screen quickly signifies the use of digital parts.
The two modes of operation can vary in terms of timing precision. The Swiss are recognized for generating clocks with very precise precision making use of the conventional (analog) mechanical movements, though these gadgets were detailed and complicated, and the cost got on the high side. The digital mode involves quartz crystals that have exact regularities, yet subdividing down to the minutes/seconds range can shed some precision; also, quantizing noise tends to sneak in to restrict electronic motion accuracy.
In picking clock parts in today's globe, one starts with the screen, which is either the conventional analog dial and hands, or the digital 7-segment alternative. For the last, choose an activity created to deal with it; after that choose various devices offered, such as radio, alarm clock, automatic changes for daylight savings adjustments, or novelty noises. You fit to be given a choice in between a 12-hour cycle and 24-hour one, along with various ways to show month, day, and year.
If, on the other hand, the need is for the standard tableau of revolving hands placed over a dial, one orders the parts (hands, dial, and movement) independently of each other. (It is likewise possible to order a set or insert, saving some labor and decision-making but giving up complete stylistic control.) The set of choices is rather wide, not just in regards to design and dimension, but additionally in regards to special uniqueness and increased attribute sets.
For example, analog movements use a means to track altering tide level. The novelty of playing chimes on the hour or quarter-hour gives one a choice of popular songs or even of composing your very own. Cosmetic (not really contributing to timekeeping) pendulums and various other novelty parts supply nostalgia and charm.
The reader is encouraged to explore vendors' sites to see the variety of choices to clockmakers. Whether one delights in constructing things from scratch or would certainly favor to accelerate the process with inserts or kits, this occupation or thing can be enjoyable and fulfilling. Answer for on your own the inquiry of whether the parts for your clock must be analog or digital.

Sony A7CII Thoughts After Two Months

PROS:
The A7C was already one of my favorite cameras of all time and this improves on it a lot more than I thought when just seeing the specs. The added front dial alone makes it many times easier to control than the older model, and lets me use my typical Sony setup that I’ve grown accustomed to (aperture on front dial, shutter speed on rear dial, and ISO on the scroll wheel).
This is the quickest operating Sony camera I’ve owned. I think they kind of lulled me into forgetting how fast cameras can be going from off to on and taking photos. The A7RII was slow as heck with each subsequent model I’ve owned getting faster and faster (A7III to A7C to A7RIV). This new Sony is at a level of speed that makes it hard to go back to using the A7RIV which I still own (for now).
The autofocus is superb. I still haven’t really put it through its paces since I got the camera in the winter and the lack of light plus uncooperative weather has made it tricky to go out and shoot, but from what I have shot it’s nearly flawless. It’s way better than any camera I’ve owned before. It also has some really neat autofocusing modes, like the ability to focus on the eyes of birds. I’m not really around birds close up all that often but it worked really well at an exotic bird place in Jersey I went to recently.
The camera is 33 megapixels, which is a nice compromise between feeling like it’s sometimes too much (61) or too little (24).
The in-body image stabilization is really good. It’s certainly the best I’ve used in any camera so far…although to be fair I’ve never used a Nikon/Canon/Fuji/Olympus body with IBIS, only Ricoh (GRIII), Panasonic (GX7 and GX85), and Sony.
It can lower the shutter when switching lenses so dust doesn’t get in there. Not gonna lie it seems kind of dangerous and something that could potentially damage the shutter, but so far it’s kept the dust out.
CONS:
The viewfinder isn’t great. I’ve never really been an EVF snob since I’ve been shooting on mirrorless EVFs for over a decade now (I had a V1 back in 2013), but going from the A7RIV to this makes it kind of stick out. I also recently handled an A7RV, which really blows it out the water. With autofocus lenses it’s no problem, but using manual focus lenses is more difficult. On the plus side, it automatically goes into peaking mode when you manually focus, even when using adapted lenses or lenses without electrical contacts.
The camera only has one card slot. Not a huge dealbreaker considering every other camera I own aside from my A7RIV is the same in that regard. A second slot even if it was a micro would have been great though. A nice thing about the A7RIV is that I’ve never left home without a memory card because even if I forget one there’s always another in there.
No joystick. Again, not completely necessary but it’s nice to have. Most of my subjects aren’t humans (or animals, or other things that the camera can instinctively detect) so there are plenty of times I want to position the focus point myself.
Slow flash sync and shutter speed. This camera is like the A7C before it in that it only flash syncs up to 1/160. It also only shoots up to 1/4000.
Still don't love the flip screen because it makes quick waist-level shooting a pain in the ass. I wish they went with the A7RV style screen.
Speaking of, all the new perks on this camera make me want to use it a ton more than my A7RIV, but it also makes me want to get an A7RV. Maybe I'll sell my X100V since the prices are nuts right now...

A Turtle's Guide to Escaping Midtown Precinct South: Part Five
Click here to start from the beginning!
//
As Sun Tzu said, if you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If your enemy might find out your brother is in a holding cell, then you can count on him to do everything he can to make sure your loved one is in his custody. Therefore, you must make your move before your enemy has the chance to.
As soon as Don got off the subway, he bolted out of the station and sprinted home. He slipped on a few patches of ice along the way, but he was always quick to scramble back to his feet and keep running. Thankfully, none of his brothers were around to witness his clumsiness – especially Michelangelo. It was kind of ironic, though, that the one time he got to work on the Battle Shell in peace was the one time he had to fix it in record-breaking time.
At last, he reached the warehouse on Eastman and Laird. Don grunted with effort as he slid open a window in the side of the building, then slipped inside. He turned on a space heater, slipped off his gloves, then popped open the hood of the Battle Shell and looked inside.
If the transmission was stuck, then the problem was most likely the shifter cable getting stuck in the machinery, but the cable looked fine. Don frowned. Maybe the problem was one of the detent bolts or spring. He couldn’t tell if that was the case unless he removed a few brackets, however.
Don grabbed his toolbox from the side of the room and lugged it back to the Battle Shell. On his way, he ripped off his white beanie cap and replaced it with his headphone set. “Leo, this is Donatello,” he said, as he pulled out a wrench from the toolkit. “I’m in the warehouse fixing up the Battle Shell.”
“Alright,” came his brother’s voice. “You said it would only take about an hour to fix, right?”
“Yep,” Don said. He started twisting the bolts on one of the brackets with the wrench until it was loose enough to unscrew with his fingers. “In fact, it might even take less –”
Leo sneezed, interrupting him. Grimacing, Don pulled his headset off – though at this point, the damage to his hearing was already done. “Bless you.”
“Thanks. You were saying?”
“The transmission is going to be an easy fix. It might even take less than an hour.”
“So, what was the issue? Did the Battle Shell just… need new transmission fluid? Like an oil change?”
Don cringed. There was no denying that Leo was a smart turtle – just not smart enough to know what he was talking about when it came to auto mechanics. “Just worry about the mission and leave the mechanic stuff to me,” he said. “Anyway, I’m going to call the chief of police. I’ll keep you updated.”
He removed the bracket and set it to the side before pulling out his phone and dialing the office of the chief of police. The phone range twice before it picked up. “Chief Alice Torres, speaking,” said a stern woman on the other end.
“Chief Torres, my name is Bishop. I am calling on behalf of a government agency. This line is secure,” Don said. He didn’t bother to imitate Bishop’s deep, raspy voice. His focus was on reciting his lines just like he rehearsed on the subway. Meanwhile, he let his arms move on automatic mode, loosening the bolts on a second bracket.
“Which government agency?” Chief Torres said. Don imagined a mean-looking woman narrowing her eyes at him in suspicion. “Are you with the FBI?”
“No,” Don answered. “I work with a covert organization dedicated to protecting the Earth from extraterrestrial threats. That’s as much information as I can disclose, I’m afraid.”
She let out a throaty chuckle. “That’s a good one. Can’t say I’ve heard it before,” she said. “But unfortunately for you, misdemeanor prank calls carry a fine of up to one thousand dollars and up to one year in prison time.”
Don figured she would have her suspicions. “At approximately 10:03 this morning, two of your officers arrested a suspect for fare evasion at the subway station on West 4th Street, Washington Square,” he said as a matter of fact. “But that suspect was not an ordinary human. He was of extraterrestrial origin.”
Chief Torres scoffed. “If you think that’s enough to prove that you’re part of some secret organization, then you’ll have to try harder than that.”
“I wasn’t trying to prove anything. I was hoping you’d work with me here,” Don said. “But if it’s proof you want, then I have evidence that could land your precinct in hot water.”
“Oh?”
“You’ve been taking bribes from David Williams, CEO of South Hudson Prison Properties. You send dozens of people to his prisons each year, and in return he pays you handsomely. You enable your officers to use intimidation and coercion tactics to bring up higher charges against the suspects that come through your precinct – in fact, you encourage it. And when one of your former officers, Sergeant Brianna Martin, came forward to expose these practices in your department, you hired a hit against her.”
The other end grew quiet. For a second, Don was worried that he was wrong about those accusations. “Who told you this?” she said at last.
“Like I said, I work for the federal government,” Don said. “It’s my business to know a little bit of everyone’s business.” He removed the bracket and leaned on the frame of the armored van. “I understand if you still don’t want to cooperate, but I also doubt that you want to lose your prestigious position.”
While she stewed in silence, Don took the opportunity to inspect the detent bolts. Just as he suspected, one of them was loose, which had allowed the transmission to lock itself in reverse. This was going to be an even quicker fix than he thought. A pang of guilt tore through his chest. Mikey hadn’t broken the transmission like he thought. It was Don’s own fault. He had messed with the detent bolts the last time he made modifications to the Battle Shell and simply hadn’t tightened it properly. All this trouble because of a tiny piece of metal smaller than his thumb.
“What do you want?” Chief Torres said, interrupting his thoughts.
Don shook his head, as if waking from a reverie. Now was not the time for a pity party, he reminded himself. “I want the alien suspect currently in your custody,” he said. “Now, listen carefully to the instructions that I’m about to give you.”
He gave her coordinates to one of the docks along the East River and told her that it would be their rendezvous. Then he gave more instructions – bring the suspect in an armored vehicle with no windows, only bring along two other officers to ensure the transfer of the suspect, make sure the officers swear to secrecy. She listened to his every word and only interrupted to ask a few clarifying questions.
As they talked, he tightened the detent bolt with some power tools, making sure to mute himself so that she wouldn’t hear the grating buzz of his power drill. He was in the middle of talking and screwing the brackets back into place when he heard a voice behind him. “Donatello?”
Startled, he jumped and hit his head against the hood cover. Sharp pain blossomed on the impact, and he had to bite his lip to hold back a cry of pain. He whipped around to find Splinter standing just a few feet behind him. “Sen –!” Don started. Then he remembered that he was still on a call with the chief of police. “Please hold!” he squeaked before muting his end of the call.
“Donatello, what’s going on?” Splinter asked.
“Master Splinter, I…” Don sputtered.
Leo’s voice came through the headset, nearly startling him again. “Uh oh.”
“Who are you talking to?” Splinter continued. “And what are you doing here? I thought you were at April’s with your brothers.”
“I, uh, was but we needed the Battle Shell for…” Don said. He wasn’t sure what to say. It had never occurred to him that Splinter may come up to the warehouse. “Wait a minute, what are you doing up here, sensei? You never come up to the warehouse.”
“I just had a hunch,” he said, crossing his arms. “And right now, my instincts are telling me that you are stalling.”
Splinter wasn’t wrong; Don still didn’t know what answer to give him. Should he just tell the truth and explain what happened? He didn’t have time for that, not with Chief Torres on hold. And Don definitely didn’t want to be the one to earn Splinter’s ire by explaining what happened. There was just no way to sugar coat the fact that Raph had gotten arrested and was being held by the NYPD – for fare evasion, no less. He wished that his older brother with chime in with some advice in his ear, but Leo remained silent, most likely holding his breath in anticipation like Don was.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t have much time,” Don said. “We’ll explain everything when we get back. I promise.”
Splinter narrowed his eyes. “You and your brothers need to be back home before seven,” he said.
“We will, sensei.”
“Seven o’clock precisely.”
“We will, sensei.”
Master Splinter turned around and walked towards the elevator. When he disappeared behind the stone doors, Don finally let out the breath he had been holding. “We’re so cooked,” he said out loud.
“I know,” Leo said with a groan. “I’m almost tempted to leave Raph behind in the precinct.”
“I’m nearly finished with the Battle Shell, and with the call. I’ll tell you once I hit the road.” Don said to him. Then he unmuted himself from his call with Chief Torres. “Where were we?” he asked.
As he answered some more of her questions, he finished replacing the brackets, then closed the hood. “Thank you for your cooperation,” Don said as the call came to a close. “Although few people will know what you have done today, you will have done a great service to your nation. But, of course, I will extend my generosity and offer you payment of up to one and a half million dollars.”
“I’m sorry, did you say million?” Chief Torres asked in a shocked tone.
“Of course,” Don said. “We pay handsomely for research and information, and by giving us a live specimen, you are contributing more to alien research than most people have in decades. Unfortunately, however, you may have to incur some upfront costs.”
“How much are we talking about?”
“Twenty thousand dollars. I know it may be a lot –”
“Don’t worry,” she said. “I receive more than that on a monthly basis from Mr. Williams.”
“Well, that amount will help us pay for the transfer of the suspect. I already have a trust fund set up for you to deposit the money into – and I will wire the one and a half million dollars to you by tomorrow at close of business.”
After giving her the banking information, Don thanked her once again and hung up the call. He cleaned the black grease from his hands with a rag, turned off the space heater, opened the garage door to the warehouse, then gathered his gloves and beanie cap and climbed into the Battle Shell. No sooner than he turned the key fob than the engine purred and came to life. He eased the Battle Shell onto the street, then shifted the gears to one, then two as he drove on the road, smiling with smug satisfaction when he found that the gear shifts were as smooth as butter. “Man, I’m good,” he said out loud. “Hey, Leo. I’m headed your way. I’ll be over there in about fifteen minutes.”
“Good. When you get closer, I’ll tell you where to park,” Leo said. Then he sneezed again.
Don frowned as he remembered that Leo had briefed him that he would be hiding on the roof of the precinct. “Stay warm, bro,” he said.
“I’m doing my best,” he said miserably.
As Don got closer to the police department, Leo gave him instructions to get to the parking garage. Don drove in and pulled the Battle Shell into the parking space labeled “VIP Parking,” just like he requested.
“I need you to do one last thing, Donatello,” his brother said. “Do you see the car parked next to you?”
Don peeked through the window of the Battle Shell and did a double take. A bright red Ford Mustang was parked in the chief of police’s parking space. “You mean the 1987 Mustang?” he said. “Do I.”
“I need you to unlock the trunk of that car. After that, you can join April. She’s waiting in her van,” Leo said. “And mind the cameras on the side of the building.”
Don peeked through the windows on side of the Battle Shell that faced the precinct and immediately spotted the camera he was talking about. “Copy that,” he said. He took off his headset and replaced it with his beanie before reaching into the glove compartment. There he kept a spare set of tools for unlocking doors. He opened the van door on the side facing away from the cameras and was immediately greeted by the biting cold. Shivering, he stealthily crouched behind the Mustang and began unlocking the trunk. The cold made it difficult to move his fingers, but after a few seconds of jiggling his tools in the keyhole, he felt an inner mechanism give and heard a click. The trunk opened just a crack.
He placed the tools in the pockets of his jacket and sighed. It was a shame that he couldn’t steal this car just like he had stolen Zanramon’s space cruiser. Part of him was tempted to ask Leo if he could – though given the stakes of the mission and the intricacies of the plan, the answer was going to be a resounding “no.” That wouldn’t stop him from dreaming, though. Don stood to his feet and walked towards the back of the parking garage until he found where April’s van was parked.
April was already in the driver seat, waiting. She unlocked the doors and he climbed into the back passenger seat, sighing with relief as soon as the hot air blowing from the heater met his skin. “Got the old Battle Shell up and running?” she said.
“Yep, she’s as good as new,” Don said. In the end, it was only a ten-minute fix. All the more reason to feel guilty. He hugged his arms to his chest.
“What’s wrong?” April asked, sensing his change in mood.
“Nothing,” he said. “I’m just… I don’t know. Disappointed in myself, I guess.”
“What for?”
“It’s just that, the problem ended up being so easy to repair,” he said. “If I had just fixed it as soon as my brothers discovered that something was wrong, we could have taken the Battle Shell to your place. Raph wouldn’t be sitting in a holding cell right now.”
“True,” April said. “But if he hadn’t gotten arrested, we wouldn’t have found out about the corruption going on in the precinct. And remember, this plan won’t just help Raph. It’ll take down a corrupt cop. We’ll be helping a lot of people.”
“Huh, I guess you’re right,” Don said. “Thanks.”
“Of course, Donny.”
It grew quiet except for the hum of the heater blasting warm air. Don looked out the window at the flurries that rained down hypnotically onto the streets outside the parking garage. After today, they would have helped a lot of people – but only if their plan worked.

Calling a radio station for love advice wasn’t just a random whim. Blossom had carefully planned what she was going to say long before actually gathering the nerve to dial in. Of course she had: there was no other mode she operated in than meticulously prepared. She even had an alias to introduce herself with, despite the fact that Cupid’s show automatically applied a voice changing filter for guests—hers wasn’t that common of a name to feel comfortable stating it on air along with the other details she would need to provide in order to receive advice on her situation. She knew some of her friends and family listened to this show at least occasionally, and couldn’t risk any of them knowing it was her if they were tuned in today. The whole reason she was anonymously seeking guidance from a love expert was because she didn’t want the people in her real life to know her situation until she figured it out herself (or at least, with the help of Cupid…)
“Hello!” she started as soon as she was prompted by the radio host. “I’m Bella. Long-time listener, first time calling. My dilemma is that I…” Blossom usually didn’t hesitate when speaking, especially when her words were already prepared. But this confession made her uncharacteristically shy, even if she wasn’t speaking with her own voice. She took a breath to center herself and continued, “I think I have feelings for my friend, but I don’t know what to do about it. This friend, Hugo, asked me out years ago and I turned him down. Now that I’ve started to realize I might want to be more than friends, I’m afraid he’s…well, he’s probably gotten over me a long time ago, right? I don’t know if I should be straight-forward and tell him how I feel, or if I should test the waters first…I’m not really the best at flirting, but I’m scared of making things awkward if he doesn’t like me. Do you have any advice for someone in my situation?”

So you can step into the fray with new abilities right from the get-go. While adding a whole new layer to your strategy. For those who also like to get up close and personal in Anima Flux, the Swordsman now sports a Stagger Attack in the demo update. This lunging strike not only stuns your adversaries but also makes them vulnerable to double damage from subsequent hits. Not to be outdone, the Archer has a fresh trick too. The Rebound Attack lets you leap back while firing an arrow and simultaneously deploying a decoy that takes the heat off you. It’s perfect for those sticky situations where you need a quick escape route. Additionally, each Anima Flux character now has an enhanced special attack gauge in this demo update. Which also fills up under certain conditions. Due to allow for more powerful moves when you really need to deliver a punch.

Inform 7 Basics: return of the countdown clock
Where were we? Ah, yes, I was imagining some sort of building complex that was collapsing. In fact, it was collapsing all around the player! Yikes! To do that, we set up a way to give rooms each their own value called a "countdown." We used geographical regions (i7 documentation) to assign different starting countdown values, in case parts of the building are in worse shape than others. That was pretty straightforward:
When play begins: Repeat with place running through rooms: if place is in Region A: now the countdown of place is 5; otherwise if place is in Region B: now the countdown of place is 2; otherwise: now the countdown of place is 999.
What did that mean? We asked Inform 7 to step through every room in the game world, one at a time, and set a value (countdown) based on each room's (referred to as "place" here) region (Inform 7 documentation). We also added a catch-all "otherwise" bucket, just in case we need it for something later.
A caveat: regions cannot overlap, but a region CAN be nested within another region. In complex maps, you will want to take care in organizing your game world to avoid confusion. In any case, since we are using "otherwise" in our statements, if a room is in multiple regions, then the first match will apply. All others will be dropped.
Where was I? We'll be dealing with counters and "every turn" rules. This can get pretty confusing, because Inform's action processing can be quite intricate (as it needs to be). Let's set up a simple feedback system first. Initially, we authors will want to keep an eye on the countdown status of every room. This probably will not reach a production build as-is. This is for us. Let's get started.
Let's make a rule without assigning it to action processing.
this is the display countdown rule: say "[bold type]Countdown Clock![roman type]"; repeat with place running through rooms: say "[line break][place]: [countdown of place]"; say line break.
This should look quite familiar! We are repeating the same basic operation, only this time, rather than assigning values, we are printing them. Note that I've spruced things up with a little bold type. Also: I've added line breaks because Inform 7 usually relies on punctuation to assign line breaks automatically (i7 documentation).
Now, if we're going to be changing values in the midst of action processing, let's check the values at the beginning of the game. the beginning of the turn, and at the end of the turn. This will feel cluttered after a while, but let's spend some time getting a feel for when and how things change in the course of a turn. We can also use this feedback to choose when--in the course of action processing--to change the value each turn. Since we already have our rule written, we can drop it into action processing almost anywhere.
before doing something: follow the display countdown rule.
last when play begins: follow the display countdown rule.
last every turn: follow the display countdown rule.
Did you notice my use of the "last" modifier in those last two rules? Since we have another "when play begins" rule, and because it specifically sets countdown values, we should make sure that this new rule processes after that. So far as the "last every turn" rule goes: those rules fire at the end of the turn. Putting a rule at the end of the "every turn" sequence means that we can get a "final" tally as action processing is completed (Inform 7 documentation).
Now, as said, this is a debug setup that we will dial back once we decide how to handle the actual counting down. But as beginners, being able to visualize changes in values and states is invaluable. I do stuff like this in every complex project. I never could have completed my story mode extension for Inform 7 (coming soon!) without this sort of practice. Feedback systems aren't just for players, they are for us, too!
Next time, I'll probably spend the whole post talking about WHEN the counting down should occur, and how that decision will affect our design. Not a lot of exciting code to share today! We aren't even counting down yet!
As always, if you have questions about i7, parser games, or my own projects, ask away.

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐔𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐕𝐎𝐑 | @lastsurvivor
A hum echoes out across pearly white walls, with pale yellow roundels providing light, along with a brightly organized glowing console in the center of the room. Complex arrays of buttons and controls befitting the strange ship were organized along six panels. In the console room, a man wearing baggy yellow trousers, a white dress shirt, and a maroon tweed waistcoat with blue patterns along it— quietly adjusted a blue necktie whilst he rolled up his sleeves. Quietly, he hummed, pink flamingo-colored hair tied back in a bunch whilst amber eyes surveyed the console in all its complexities. The TARDIS, she was called, a time-space vessel that soared through the cosmos— the fourth dimension was its personal highway, but she occasionally used the fifth and sixth dimensions as backroads.
"I do like to be beside the—" Humming of the glover-kind tune halted as a beep distracted the Timelord. "—Distress signal?" He circled the console, heading over to the communications array of the TARDIS. "Ah, here we are..." He dials in on the signal, which isn't hard to discern or lock onto— "Looks like we just so happened to be passing by. Space year... 2147..." He began to pull the TARDIS out of the Time Vortex, so the ship could materialize in space near the source of the distress signal. Flicking up a switch on the console that caused a wall-mounted monitor to display the craft the TARDIS was circling, 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝘿𝙤𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙧's brows furrowed in mild curiosity at what he saw on the screen.
"A commercial escape craft? Looks to be detached from a commercial vessel..." He talked aloud, recognizing specific design patterns associated with other space vessels the traveler had come across before. From a cursory glance of the vessel, The Doctor was able to tell that it was floating in a low power mode, with life signs aboard being relatively faint, and he pondered aloud, "What is it doing all the way out here, though?" Precise scans did pick up life, which prompted him to investigate, "Let's see what we can find, shall we?" Grabbing his multi-colored coat off from the coat rack, The TARDIS engines began to circulate with groaning and wheezing that indicated the ship was landing aboard the escape craft.
Materializing tightly within the frosted escape craft's interior, the POLICE PUBLIC CALL BOX's door sign which read pull to open was yanked as if the door would need to be pushed open. A flashlight beam pointed outward, The Doctor sticking his head out as he observed the state of the interior. Automatically, The TARDIS had extended an air shield within the escape craft's interior. The artificial gravity circuits were still enabled, so all the TARDIS had to do was make the interior breathable. That only left The Doctor to complain about the temperature, however. "I think their heating might be on the mend." He mumbled quietly before his flashlight found the ship's main terminal. Approaching it, The Doctor used clever hands to re-enable the ship's primary computer, causing lights to activate across the terminal. Age had gotten the better of it, so The Doctor's patience was put to the test as he navigated through the ship's flight recorder.
"The Narcissus... Escape craft belonging to The Nostromo..." The Doctor's eyes read a brief report on the ship's status, as well as a list of current crewmembers. Only one name popped up, and The Doctor aimed a flashlight toward a chamber in the room. "Ah. That would be you." He looked back at the computer once more, "That distress call... You were waiting for someone to come pick you up." Without any hesitation, The Doctor entered specific commands into the computer, disengaging the cryo chamber so that whoever was inside would begin to awake. He approached it whilst it hissed quietly, kneeling to the side and aiming the flashlight in an upward direction, so that whoever would emerge would see the man clearly.
"So... who are you...?"

Solving Zhiyun Cinepeer CF100 RGB Stick Light Problems

The Zhiyun Cinepeer CF100 RGB Stick Light is a powerful, portable lighting tool designed for creators who demand flexibility and performance in their shoots. While it offers impressive features-such as 100W output, full RGB and HSI modes, rich lighting effects, and adaptive charging-users, especially professionals like those at AWPRO, may encounter some practical challenges. Here’s a breakdown of common problems and effective solutions.
1. Overheating During Extended Use
Problem: High-powered LED lights can generate significant heat during prolonged operation, potentially leading to thermal throttling or automatic shutdown to protect internal components.
Solution: The CF100 is equipped with a built-in fan and Zhiyun’s DynaVort™ Cooling System, which automatically activates when temperatures rise. To ensure optimal cooling:
Avoid blocking the fan vents.
Do not wrap the device or use it in enclosed spaces.
If the high-temperature protection triggers, allow the unit to cool before resuming use.
2. Limited Battery Runtime
Problem: At full power, the CF100 offers just over 1 hour of runtime, which may not suffice for longer shoots.
Solution: Leverage the CF100’s multiple charging options:
Use DC or PD fast charging for continuous operation while plugged in.
Carry a compatible power bank or external battery for on-the-go recharging.
Plan lighting setups to minimize full-power usage when not strictly necessary.
3. Not Waterproof or Weather-Resistant
Problem: The CF100 is not waterproof (IP20 rating), making it unsuitable for outdoor shoots in rain or high humidity.
Solution:
Always keep the light dry and avoid use in wet or humid environments.
If accidental exposure to moisture occurs, discontinue use immediately and seek professional maintenance before resuming.
4. Mounting Accessories Not Included
Problem: The package does not include a tripod or light stand, which are essential for stable, hands-free operation in professional settings.
Solution:
Prepare compatible 1/4-inch tripods or light stands in advance.
Invest in quality mounting accessories to ensure stability and flexibility during shoots.
5. Complex Controls for New Users
Problem: With multiple modes (CCT, HSI, FX), dials, and buttons, the CF100’s interface can be overwhelming for first-time users.
Solution:
Refer to the official quick-start guide for step-by-step instructions on mode switching and parameter adjustment.
Practice using the controls in a non-critical setting to build familiarity before professional use.
Conclusion
The Zhiyun Cinepeer CF100 RGB Stick Light is a versatile and powerful lighting tool available at AWPRO, but like any piece of professional gear, it presents some challenges-from overheating and limited battery life to mounting issues and the absence of weatherproofing. Fortunately, most of these problems have practical solutions, such as leveraging its built-in cooling system, using external power sources, and following safe handling guidelines. Firmware updates and careful accessory selection further enhance reliability and user experience.

Probably my ideal omnitrix would be a combination of all the features skinned into the classic style- and some other ones that just kind of make sense with how the classic omnitrix grows with the user becoming part of them
I'm talking the following list of features
Transformation mode into any species that the omnitrix has a dna sample off (not too fond of primus as the omnitrix dna storage, maybe as one of azmuths labs yeah but not for the omnitrix so everything stored locally)
Self destruction mode that does a bigger explosion the longer its allowed to charge up
Master control that allows all of the omnitrixs functions to be accessed at will with a thought
Combination commands, twisting the dial in various combinations of left and right without pressing the button to lift the dial let's you enable certain modes and features without needing master control, or even to enable master control in the first place
DNA scan mode that automatically activates to scan the dna of new uncataloged aliens
Disease immunity; since the omnitrix becomes part of the user over time it Eventually starts augmenting the users immune system and fighting diseases and infections for them
Biological perfection and correction; since the omnitrix generates all aliens at their biological peak based on your relative age to the species, it would make sense that as you use it and it grows it slowly perfects your biology making you basically peak human
Genetic damage repair; since the omnitrix can repair genetic damage in AF, I'm imaging the classic one can do the same (using the touch method not the laser that we see with gwens brother Ken rather than un the dnalien war)... it would make sense that this can cure genetic diseases in humans like cancer where the dna of cells change and mutate...
Gender bending; Since Ben can turn into male varients of species and species without gender, and gwen10 turns into female variants of species and ones without gender or whatever, it'd make sense that the omnitrix does have the functionality... we know the omnitrix can generate both male and female forms depending on the user- so why not have it be able to switch someone's biological gender the same way it might change someone's DNA to repair someone's genetic damage
Genetic recombination (basically fusions but this mode is locked down because of how dangerous it is, and how often these fusions just fail) I'd imagine fusions are just far worse than the regular unfused varients (e.g. ripjaws fusions can't breath properly, heat blast ones burn the non pyronite parts, upgrade ones can't even use the upgrade part of their power, diamond head ones have brittle crystals etc
