I think one of the reasons Pit Babe is working so well with such a wild premise is because of the relationships between the characters. At its core, Pit Babe is about family. What makes a family? What lengths will you go to protect your family?

The writers and actors know these characters, and as a result, every character relationship feels substantial. The focus is on the relationships, whether platonic, paternal, romantic, hostile, etc. This makes the plot more character-driven than plot-driven. Clear character motivations cause plot events. Things don’t just happen out of thin air for the characters to react to.

So when Jeff finally gives Alan a full smile, we beam too.

Because how can we not?!

And when Kim becomes part of the x-hunter family, we know he’s where he was always meant to be.

And when Charlie is willing to risk his life for Babe, and Babe will do anything to avenge Charlie’s death, we root for their happy endings.

And when a ghost ship becomes canon…

We can wonder what other surprises are in store.

Anyways, these characters are family in one way or another, and that gives them purpose to get the guy, take down a truly evil pseudo-father/philanthropist, fake a death, and fight for love (all in the omegaverse).

Originally, you went through training in order to slip by the D.D.D's radar, I mean, even if someone finds out, who's gonna believe them? At first you actively did plan to kill these people, but then you see the...lackluster performances of your fellow doppelgangers and turn them away, not out of any moral standing but because you feel your intelligence has been personally insulted by the fact they thought that would fool anyone.

How do you get ideas for the things that you write/draw? Always a struggle for me personally to come up with something original or interesting lol

thank you! frankly its a bit of a struggle for me too at times. but i try to find inspiration where i can.

writing especially. a lot of my fanfictions are based on my own drawings actually. that's usually why you'll see me posting art for them here and there. i think drawing what you write is a really good way to help you get a grip on the tone and concept of what you write. i own a couple art books and the way you can feel the story inside these drawings ranging from doodles to paintings is always really inspiring to me.

watching a bunch of cartoons, movies, tv shows and, dare i say, READING is good for inspiration too. i know that's a bit of a generic response but you won't believe some of the shit i go back to for inspiration sometimes haha.

i've always had a bit of an overactive imagination and repetition is something that bothers me so im always trying to come up with new things to draw or write. but ive been drawing the same two characters for close to four years now so what the hell do i know about repetition.

The scene between Alan and Dean (traitor) at the end of ep 10 is so so so good.

Alan, who sees his team as his family and his responsibility to take care of, facing the reality of Dean’s betrayal. And undoubtedly feeling partially responsible.

Dean, who was desperate for recognition and acted too rashly, facing the reality of what he’d done (even though he technically wasn’t at fault for the severity of the accident). And hopefully feeling regret.

Both of them breaking down over what they’d lost in the process.

Dean claims he had no future at X-Hunter, but Alan saw so much potential for him.

From anger to despair and the love for their little found family woven together through the years. I felt those tears and all the emotions that came with them.

The look on Alan’s face when he tells North to call the police. He knows he has to turn Dean in. But it physically pains him to have to do it. This is his family. Regardless of how f*cked up Dean’s actions were, it hurts.

I feel like we don’t see very many scenes like this, in bl or anything really. Sometimes the people we care about do something irreparable. So often, we see the anger. The punches. The fighting. And then that’s it. Relationship over. Goodbye.

But that’s not really representative of real life. We rarely feel only one emotion at a time. And feelings are never stable, they’re always fluctuating. This scene understands that. Beyond the anger is grief. Because this betrayal means loss. Loss of family. Loss of future.

Severing a relationship with someone you’re close with is difficult, even if one of you did something to warrant it. Love doesn’t vanish instantly.

If he noticed her distance, he didn't say anything, and she was grateful for that. Guilty, but grateful. Another nearly empty bowl sent the blonde on a beeline for the kitchen, barely making it past the door before she suddenly collided with somebody. "Oh, sorry!" she blurted reflexively before wide eyes caught sight of the familiar wall of muscle she'd run into. Heat flooded her cheeks once more and she averted her gaze, ducking around the older boy and heading for the pantry. "Just – just getting more chips." she explained. british tabloids were so ludicrous back in the day. they still are to be fair, but this made me giggle. kissing her minutes into the episode would have been quite the thing though. also peep how they automatically assume martha is a nurse 🤔
