Sorry, if you have answered this before, but who sould you say are the most surprising/undeserved early boots on ANTM and other NTM franchises?
There are plenty and I’m sure I left off some obvious ones
ANTM
Megan C7
Felicia and Samantha C8
Courtney C13
Gabrielle C14
Rhianna C15
Maggie C24
Chantelle C21 and Tash C23’s first exits were pretty surprising and a bit undeserved, but at least they came back
AusNTM
Shannon C7 (should’ve cruised into the final 16)
Neo C7 (I know she went downhill, but still!)
April C8
Phoebe C9
AsNTM
Trang C1 (unsurprising based on how she was treated though)
Franchesca C3
Other
Abby BNTM 11
Eva NZNTM 2 (kinda pushing into mid-cycle boot though)

Hiya! I’ve been loving your comeback content. Keep it up xx
Question
Name one NTM model for each (from any franchise) that has that quintessential, signature look for:
- Beauty
- High Fashion
- Editorial
Use a different model for each.
Have fun answering!!
Okay, sorry for taking so long to answer this question, but I wanted to give it a lot of thought. So here are my rather hesitant answers. I am only using the American, Australian and late British cycles for this mainly, with the odd reference to some of the other international cycles I’ve seen.
High Fashion
I feel like this was the easiest one to decide, as I think High Fashion in general has a much more stereotypical look, and is much more focused on the look than their skill, so picking a quintessential choice was pretty easy.
Instant ones that came to mind were Ann Ward, Leila Goldkuhl, Jane Randall, Fatima Siad, all have really strong expensive looks, strong faces, tall, have that runway look. For me though it came down to two winners from different countries, Aamito Lagum and Alice Burdeu. Both of these I feel would be clear answers in terms of why, but I guess for the final answer I’ll go with Alice. Feels like such an easy answer, but nothing else feels right. Alice’s look was just perfect for high fashion, especially at that time. It also was the first time NTM had really felt like it hit that high fashion angle perfectly. There is a reason that ANTM tried to just find a virtual clone of her when it came to their high fashion season.
Editorial
I found this one harder, as I think editorial has a much wider definition, and is far more skill focused. There is also a big difference between being a successful editorial model in Vogue than in Marie Claire, so answering this was a lot more difficult.
I think when looking at those more high fashion magazines like Vogue or Harper’s Bazaar, any of the names I mentioned above have that look that feels very editorial. I think though a lot of them besides Jane feel a bit more niche, she is the only one who I could then see doing the more commercial feeling magazines as well, so I think she is a contender. Chantelle Young/Winnie Harlow is another shot in terms of having a unique look, I think it is so unique it is hard to pick her as the quintessential choice, but felt like I needed to give her a shout out.
Kathryn Lyons was another one whose portfolio proved she could also do the same, but I think her actual look is quite underwhelming, and it is more skill and being photogenic than that quintessential look. Another one that came to mind was Chantal Jones, I think she has such a versatile look, sort of similar to Jane. I could see her doing those more high fashion magazines, commercial, but then even going into men’s magazine, women’s health magazines, just really anything. She has such a wide editorial appeal. Similarly, considered maybe Shanali Martin. But no one felt fully right.
In the end, once I thought about Montana Cox, she became the clear answer for me. Yeah, so two AusNTM as my choices, but I do think that franchise knew how to do it well. Montana has that look that I feel can do anything, and while there may be others who have the more quintessential looks for individual styles of editorial modelling, I think Montana can do them all successful. Her portfolio is still one of the most diversely strong, but I really feel every shot could come straight from an editorial from a wide variety of magazines. I think that versatility is so essential for an editorial model, so is why I chose Montana as my quintessential editorial model.
Beauty
So this is all about the face, again I think there is a large part of skill, but natural beauty still shines here. I think again there is a slight distinction between those who could succeed in more commercial beauty modelling, for make-up brands and skin case, like Covergirl of course, and those who can do the more high fashion beauty shoots.
I think Olivia Wardell and Jennifer Malengele from Cycle 11 of BNTM help exemplify this sort of distinction, Olivia didn’t show the greatest range in angles, but had such a stunning face that took the more dramatic make-up well, while Jennifer excelled in the natural, commercial beauty shoots. I think those two nicely complement each other really in showing the diversity of beauty shoots, but neither has the look that really feels as wide-ranging.
Some other names to come to my mind are Mikaela Schipani, her bone structure is incredible, perfectly symmetrical features, and has shown she can look great at a few different angles, similarly Alex Sinadinovic for much the same reasons, or Yoanna House, who provided one of the best beauty shots in NTM history because of her bone structure. I think there are also a few models who just have more traditionally simple, yet stunning faces, with flawless skin, so stand out in a different way. So for those Fatima again is a contender, or Kendal Brown. Linnea Stevens-Jones also probably deserves a mention, as well as Sabine Jamieson, both had incredible faces.
Honestly, think I need to just go with Yoanna on this one. There are so many stunning faces, who are distinct, unique, and could excel in so many ways. I’ve spent way too long going through each season, trying to extract unorthodox choices, but sometimes you just need to go with your gut instinct. There may be some technically stronger, but her classic beauty really just is timeless in terms of beauty shots.

Alexandra “Alex” Evans
Place: Winner
Average: 2.8
Alex carried the torch for the vast majority of the cycle, no doubt! Her face is one of the most memorable of the bunch. Honestly, my rankings for most of her photos have been very pleasant as I have adored her shots. Do I even have to name them? What I will say though, although she was a beast in front of the camera, her attitude just stank. I mean, they way she would just talk non-stop about Rachael at times. I mean yeah, Rachael would be annoying at times but the extra teasing and underlying immaturity her and Catherine showed just always rubbed me the wrong way. But I guess whatever was going on between them has only to do with them alone so, what can I say really? Back to her beauty; magnificent features! Aside from Stefanie and a couple others; 100% a beauty and commercial girl. Can’t see her doing any other form. Like I sayid with Leanne; I felt she was robbed but Alex really improved and proved everyone wrong! She started to grill the others with her fantastic photos basically from her Artistic Album cover shot. However, her runway walk was not it though. Now that was her only prime flaw.

9. Jesse
Like Henry, it’s another boring shot from Jesse. I think this shoot perfectly describes my problems with him, he’s clearly a handsome guy but he’s only a commercial guy. I can’t see him do anything other than catalog shots. Obviously, that’s not a dealbreaker (my favorite model of all time from BNTM, Jade C7, is a very commercial girl) but if they can’t be versatile, then they end up leaving my mind. It’s just a forgettable shot. His face has no depth to it, it’s just a boring handsome guy attempting to connect with the camera with no emotion to it, his neck is weirdly bent for whatever reason and the hands are fine but a tad awkward. His elimination was fine by me, he was funny but his photo quality was one of the worst of the remaining group.
(I really like these! I don't get why the judges didn't pick them)

Chapters 11 and 12 are now available.
I’d like to thank everyone who has been re-reading this story, or even reading it for the first time.
In the past, I complained about a lot of negativity that I received in association with this story. It was near constant, and I was very much aware that it was coming from only a handful of people.
Nothing I had ever created before or since has matched the following that Be Nice to Me once amassed on tumblr and elsewhere. I was never prepared for the issues that came with so many people investing their time in something that I had created, and I became incredibly jaded as a result.
For those that don’t know, much of this story is semi-autobiographical. In writing this, I used the creative space it offered as a means to cope with things that I had struggled with. Which is to say, I was just a fucked up kid struggling with life, and loss, and love. I had no business exposing myself when I was still in a vulnerable state, to people who didn’t know and didn’t care that I was a person. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.
Of course, I would be remiss to claim that I was only a victim here. I did lash out at people, or hurt others who came to me because they admired what I did, or flat out miscommunicated to an extreme degree. Not to make any excuses, but I was still dealing with the act of growing up. I would do things a lot differently now, or so I’d like to believe. I would have also likely written the story differently (better, for one thing). Be Nice to Me is a relic of my life that could have only existed the way it did when it did, and as I move forward there will come a time where I will have to finish the story once and for all. Will it be the same story? Will I be able to write a fitting conclusion to this tale, this far removed from its origin? There’s no point in worrying about it now. There were, at the time of its takedown, 55 chapters, with two more already written.
That being said, I feel I should explain my absence. Without going into too much detail, life has simply gotten in the way. In addition to the stress and anxiety of a global pandemic, there have been quite a number of matters in my own life that require my full and undivided attention. I do wish to finish this story, but time is a resource most precious. While I can’t devote every day to churning it out*, I will make more of an effort wherever possible. If anything, for my own sake. To close a chapter of my life so I can move ever forward.
That is not to imply that reposting it has been a source of despair for me. I was quite apprehensive at first, but now it’s almost nostalgic. I have been enjoying myself immensely in reliving the story that I’d created, as well as the many memories associated with the scenes written therein. And, I’m happy to report that those people who harassed me in the past seem to have moved on with their lives. My only regret is that there are people who cherished what I’d created who may never read it again.
Thank you, to all the people who gave me their time, and who laughed and cried alongside me.
-Cyr

How do you feel about BNTM cycle 10 winner Chloe?
Chloe had no business winning her cycle, but at the same time I think she’s super overhated by fans and doesn’t get proper credit for the times she actually did well. One of the weaker BNTM winners though

Would you had still given Olivia FCO for the dixon watch shoot of you had use the photo shown in panel in your rankings?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had to rewatch the ep because I kind of forgot what the original photo was, and to be honest, I think this one is solid too. I prefer the non-panel shot, it showcases Olivia's best feature better, the watch is more prominent, but the other photo looks great too. I don't get why the judges seemed to hate it so much, I think her body is positioned well, this is a decent angle of her face. I think I might have given Jennifer first call-out over that shot though, her face was just radiant in that shot, and Olivia's in the panel shot just doesn't hold up. Olivia would come in at second though, as I still think it is a good photograph.

Catherine Thomas
Place: Runner-up
Average: 4.2
Catherine was a strong competitor this cycle, with one of the most noteworthy growths this cycle. Despite her b*tchy antics, I admire only a few of her productions. She began in the level of mediocrity then gradually flourished her ability to properly model. Despite this, I however didn’t really get much iconic photos other than her Olympic, Mannequin and 18th Century ones. Other than that, I wasn’t really a huge fan of Catherine before she became “Queen Cathreeen”.
