Manuel Fuentes was born in America to a Mexican Nicaraguense family in 1961 and moved to Miami in his teen years. His older brother Maximilio raised him the most since his parents were absent and neglectful. Manuel found himself to a life of crime and rejecting the government. In his 20's, Manuel got interested in street racing, driving a Ford Mustang LX 5.0 (fox body) and his dream car being a Buick GNX. He got married to Suzanne Lawson in 1987, two years after their daughter Raelyn was born in Miami, Florida. Their marriage would go well for the first year before getting rocky and tense arguments would lead to Suzanne conceiving Axel five years later as a last ditch effort to saving the marriage. It would work but only for 8 years, with Manuel being arrested in 1999 and deported from Australia to Miami. He would be filed for divorce and would remain in prison for 4 years before being released in 2003 and living in the same trailer park as his brother. He has a distant relationship with his daughter and gets along with Axel, who visits his dad every 4 years.

Suzanne Lawson, born in 1962 in Mt. Gambier, Australia, grew up in a middle-class Australian household. She studied abroad as a nurse and that's where she ended up meeting Manuel. The two would marry and have children before bitterly divorcing on bad terms after Manuel's arrest in 1999. She would remarry to a 36 year old tech employee named Ashwin Lochan a year later and continue to raise Axel and Raelyn till 2006, where 15 year old Axel, fed up with his mother's alcoholism and abuse, would retaliate and run away to live with his bandmate Kyle Johns in Adelaide. Suzanne remains bitter and indulged in her bad coping mechanisms.

Raelyn Lawson Fuentes, born 1985 in Miami, Florida, grew up in Mt. Gambier - witnessing from an early age her parents turmoil until her baby brother was born. Sparking jealousy over how Axel being born was what mended her parent's marriage, she resented him and saw Axel as a "Twerp" / "Idiot baby brother" during her 20s and would only grow out of that mindset once Axel turned 24. When it comes to the abuse the two endure from their mom, Raelyn treats it as "survival of the fittest" and ends up dipping from the house as soon as she turned 18, only occasionally returning when her living plans don't fall through properly. She currently studies in business and is a total diva.

Axel Lawson Fuentes, born in Mt. Gambier, Australia in 1991, is the drummer for Adelaide Anarchists. Growing up, he had a decent relationship with his parents until he turned 8, where his mom would grow bitter due to the divorce and he'd be limited from visiting his father due to Manuel's predicament. He would be frequently bullied in school and at home would only be further pestered by his mother and his step father would remain a bystander to the harassment. He felt wounded by his sisters resentment as well, mocking her frequently to cope with how lonely he felt being the main one targeted by his mother's abuse. He would resort to drumming at the age of 11 and would pick it up well, landing the position as the drummer for Adelaide Anarchists and soon would run away at 15 from home to live with his best friend and band mate, Kyle Johns.

(Bonus note: Axel's mom is bitter and frequently compares him to his father based off similar appearances.)

I'm putting all my covers of the Flower Series (+ 10 Things) together and also talking about why I chose the flower I did.

Ghostwriter, my beloved. It's my favorite cover. We all know yellow represents happiness; the same goes for the sun. Since sunflowers turn to seek the light from the sun, it symbolizes the light at the end of the tunnel. With tenderness, love, and care, anyone can thrive. For so long, Ronnie believed she had to suffer to receive the love she always wanted but she hadn't been looking in the right places.

The sunflower represents her. Despite moving across the country and worrying constantly about her father's prostate cancer, she survives and manages to soak up the sun the best she can. She stays true to herself and doesn't allow Hollywood to change her for the worse. She finds optimism in the darkest times and hopes that making it out on the other side of the tunnel will be better.

Finally, we have a face to the name or a face claim. For Battle of the Bands, we have Jasmine! These flowers are described in some spaces as unassuming. They bloom at night. In a way, this symbolizes how Lynette blooms once she changes her environment. She took a leap of faith and auditioned to be the fourth member of a girl group.

But it's also a nod toward how she adores the simplest things in life. She doesn't need fancy cars or expensive jewelry if she has something handmade with love. If something is made with love, it is the most valuable thing she could ever have.

Songbird! Represented by a singular daffodil. By itself, it can mean misfortune and unrequited love. Ashlynn's past has been paved with violence and mistreatment, but there is a rebirth factor. Daffodils bloom after winter. Although her heart has frozen over to protect herself, a new beginning is blossoming.

Working toward her dream and no longer living with her mother bring about many changes in her life. She makes space for herself in a world where she believes there is no spare for her. Her relationships and bonds reinforce the idea that her past doesn't define her.

Traveling on a Dream! At its core, the Water Lily represents Sarah. She makes the most of her life and sees the world with childlike wonder. Like the flower, she can be considered pure and innocent. The water lily blossoms beautifully from the muddy depths, which could be a nod to how much she thrives in Los Angeles after being isolated in Roxobel, NC, for so long.

10 Things I Hate About You. A flower that blooms in winter symbolizes strength, beauty, pride, love, and sometimes resilience. It's more representative of Marnie herself but pays homage to how stubborn and prideful Drake Parker is or, more so, how prideful they both are.

Unlike most of the other flowers, which are either white or have softer colors, the amaryllis is stark red because of the sheer determination shared between both parties. Marnie is determined to be seen as strong and independent, and Drake is determined to show her that she is worthy of love regardless of what anyone else thinks. It is strong and pushes both of them forward.

Seventeen aliens shaped like mathematical operators adjust their eyes to the artificial lighting overhead. A vault may not be especially stimulating, but it would have to do.

Modulus is one of many planets inhibited by the curious equation-creating lifeforms called Algebraliens, but they are moving their clutches of hatchlings to be raised below ground in greater numbers by the day. It is not an act of paranoia. The Modules' first contact with Earth was not followed by a gesture of friendliness, but a threat of violence. Their powers were beyond what the people of Earth could comprehend, and Earth rapidly developed weapons to match, or even best, them out of fear. The Modules did not mean harm, and the Earthlings knew this, but neither could ignore the glaring imbalance of power. The weapons have gone unused so far, but the knowledge of their existence has made the people of Modulus begin planning for the worst. They could move mountains, they could change the course of rivers, but they could not laugh in the face of the unknown when they had precious much to lose. Their abilities were not instinct and could only be taught, making their young vulnerable.

The last mature algebralien in the vault- exactly 1,000 years old- says their goodbyes, comforts a crying radical symbol, and clambers up the ladder into the tenuous future. This generation was not meant to see sunlight for the next 100 years.

Finally got around to posting my ocs that I've been infodumping on my Instagram about for a hot minute. Here I'm posting Axel's relatives (I'll expand on my ocs lore soon ^^).

Kirk Braxton - Axel's cousin

Maximilio is Mexican Nicaraguense born in 1956 and his ex-wife Veronica is Peruvian American born in 1958; Kirk is American born in 1991. Kirk lives with his father over at a trailer park in 8th street, Miami, Florida.

Maximilio Braxton (surname originally Fuentes) was born in Mexico and moved to Miami with his family when he was in his 20s. He studied to become a high school professor and along the way met Veronica Braxton, a Non-commissioned officer in the Army. They got married and after 6 years together, they accidentally conceived Kirk. Veronica remained and absent mother and filed for divorce to focus on her career while Maximilio was left to raise Kirk. Kirk would grow to be a rebel and punk, fascinated with coding on computers and writing zines for the Miami anarcho-punk community in the mid-2000s.
