For one so small, you seem so strong
My arms will hold you, keep you safe and warm
This bond between us can't be broken
I will be here, don't you cry...
Little Boba is frightened by the Kamino thunderstorm, but Daddy Jango is there to keep him safe. Commission by @bomerpascal

Been thinking about a modern au where Hunter loses custody of Omega. Jango takes care of her until the Bad Batch is mentally capable of providing for her. She cries a lot the first night, so Boba decides to show her his favorite book. It is a book about military artillery, because this child was *not* peaceful. But it helps, and she eventually falls asleep leaning on his shoulder…

There were very few vod that Fox was willing to do anything for. Cody was at the very top of that list, and generally Fox never regretted that fact. But then Cody got custody of Fett's kid.
That, in itself, wasn't a bad thing. Really, it was probably the best thing to happen for both Cody and Boba Fett. Cody loved younglings, and the little Fett needed someone who was a good influence. Fox was happy for both of them. He just wished his ori'vod would stop leaving the damn kid with him. Especially when he did so out of nowhere and without notice.
Really, sometimes, he wished he could just say no to watching the slightly feral child. Except, Cody's flawless logic of Coruscant being safer for him than most the places Cody is sent to was near impossible to argue with. Combine that with Boba's near lethal pup eyes made saying no impossible.
Fox didn't hate Boba, or even hated watching him really. He actually really liked the kid. He just didn't think the things Fox dealt with on a daily basis were good for an eleven year old to be witnessing. He could also do without the little terror climbing all over him every second he could.
Which was exactly what he did when Cody dropped him off this time. Without any hesitation, he tossed himself onto Fox's back like some sort of monkey lizard. With Boba's arms around his neck and legs around his waist, he really couldn't chase after Cody for dropping his terror child off with him without any notice. He could, and did, yell after him but like the asshole Cody is, he ignored him.
So, Fox sighed and turned his head to look at Boba. "How long I have you for, little terror?"
Boba gave a wide, toothy, grin and shrugged. "Dunno. Kote had some sort of emergency. Said he'd call when he could."
He gave another heavy sigh and nodded. "Alright. What you want to do then?"
The kids grin widened and he asked, "Any senators I can terrorize while you pretend you dont notice?"
A slow grin spread over Fox's face. Alright, maybe having Cody's overly outspoken kid with him was a good thing after all. Releasing his feral tooka of a nephew onto the unsuspecting Senate did in fact sound like a good way to spend his day.
So, he nodded and replied, "Let me grab my helmet first and we'll head over to the Senate."
Boba's reply was a loud cheer and Fox's grin grew. Oh yeah, he could handle having Boba with him, even with no notice. The kid may be a hellion, but he was a hellion he could set loose onto bigoted Senators.
Fox may be limited in what he could say to them, but Boba sure wasn't. And if the look on the kid's face was anything to go by, he had plans Fox could only be jealous of. If today went as he had a feeling it would, maybe he would have to actually thank Cody for leaving Boba with him. This time, at least.

[ID: a digital drawing of Jango Fett giving a baby Boba Fett a Keldabe kiss. Jango is dressed in a loose, light blue shirt with his collar open. He is holding a very young, basicaly baby, Boba in his arms at his chest and gently yet protectively cups Bobas head with one hand. Boba wears a baby jumper in a slighty brighter blue than his father. He is also wrapped in multiple layers of an orange and a white fabric. Boba is very calm, his eyes closed and a relaxed expression. Jango has the same relaxation on his face while he is gently pressing his forhead to that of his sons, giving him a loving mandalorian Keldabe kiss. They seem to be in an undefinded part of Jango's white and sterile appartment on Kamino. END ID]
I was really unsure of what colours Bobas wrappings should have. In the end I decided for orange and white because of their meaning in mandalorian armor painting. Orange stands for a lust for life, which I find very fitting for a new born. The Orange also makes a nice contrast and accent to the huge amount of blue of Bobas and Jangos shirts. White stands for a new start. and when looking at Jangos backstory, and how many family members / families he lost, Boba seems like a new start on a new family for Jango.
The wrappings don't mean anything and are not part of mandalorian culture. Or at least I didn't research it, I just find them cute on babys in those baby fotoshoots.
(And yes I completely forgot to post this after my exams were done. I passed btw)

“How’d you get stuck with babysitting duty anyway?” Boba asked one day during dinner. “Oh, I volunteered for this,” Fox told him. “Why the kark would you do that?” “Language,” Fox admonished. “Well, I was just living my normal boring life and I thought to myself, ‘I don’t get called an ugly piece of banthashit often enough.’ So I decided to adopt you.” Boba snorted. “You’re a psychopath,” he told Fox. “I’ve been called worse,” Fox replied breezily. Boba doesn’t find a new family and Fox doesn’t become anybody’s dad; an adoption story.
@bilbosmom-belladonna commissioned me to illustrate a scene from her delightful fic Trying to Escape What You Can't Let Go. She was amazing to work with and you should absolutely check out her fun little found family story!

Boba is small and obnoxious, in a way only small tubies can be, squirming and thrashing around in his crib as he wails. He’s been told that Boba is denominated “a toddler”, by nat-born standards. CC-2224 is not impressed.
“What does the word ‘Boba’ mean,” he asks. The word has been bothering him for some time now.
Jango doesn’t raise his eyes from the datapad he’s frowning at, “It’s an old family name.”
CC-2224 considers this. Boba continues to wail at the injustices of the world. CC-2224 is sympathetic to that, at least.
And then the question pops in his head like an armed grenade.
“Can I have a name?” he asks.
Jango looks up at him, both eyebrows raised up to his hairline. There's a considering silencie, and then he says, like he's already regretting it, “You could.”
CC-2224 stares at him expectantly. Boba wails, mostly ignored.
Jango snorts and shakes his head, letting his attention fall back on his datapad, “You’ll have to come up with one on your own, kid. I’m shit at naming things,”
CC-2224 frowns, looking down at Boba, who’s finally beginning to realize no one paying much attention to his crying and he might need to adapt his strategies. He makes grabby fingers at CC-2224, who watches impassively.
Making an impulsive decision, he reaches into the crib and pulls the baby out, holding him at eye level like a hide up for inspection.
“I like the word kote,” CC-2224 says.
“Very modest,” Jango snorts, but he sounds approving. Newly christened Kote thinks he wasn’t looking for approval, but its nice getting it anyway.
Boba sneezes on his face, and the universe shifts.
Kote's never seen the sun, but someday he'll understand this moment feels like sunrise.
