It would have been nice if the boys got their hands on the tampons and handed them over to the girls in their class. But they made their point and that is the don't want mixed sexed bathrooms.
A state-mandated tampon dispenser inside a boys’ bathroom at a Connecticut high school was ripped down 20 minutes after it was installed this month, according to the building’s “disgusted” principal.
The dispenser was placed in the Brookfield High School boys’ bathroom at 9:30 a.m. last Wednesday, but by 9:52 a.m., it was torn from the wall, leaving tampons littering the floor, the school’s principal, Marc Balanda, said in an email to students and staff obtained by CT Insider reported.
The fixture was put in the bathroom as part of a new state law that mandates each school must provide free menstrual products in women’s restrooms, all-gender restrooms and at least a single men’s bathroom.
“I am aware that the law says “men’s bathroom” but the actions today that led to vandalism and destruction of property were the work of immature boys, not men,” Balanda stated, per local outlet Inside Investigator, which obtained the email.
He added there have been other instances of vandalism in recent weeks in boys’ bathrooms, including tearing down soap dispensers and stuffing objects down toilets, but he found this the “most egregious” case, per the email.
The state mandate was put in place so transgender and intersex students would have menstrual products available if needed, CT Insider reported.
“Having open dialogue in the school community can help everyone understand the law, ensure a school environment where everyone is respected, and all students are supported,” state Department of Education spokesperson Matthew Cerrone told The Post.,
State education officials aren’t aware of any other similar instances, he said.
Brookfield Schools Superintendent John Barile didn’t share many details about the incident with CT Insider, but noted the vandalism has been addressed with the student involved.
Tumblr media
The dispenser was torn down in 20 minutes.
Police were not called over the incident because “law enforcement is typically not involved in situations of vandalism/destruction of property unless the act rises to a much higher level of property destruction,” Barile said, adding tampon dispensers have been vandalized in the girls’ bathrooms in past years.
Calls by The Post to the superintendent and principal were not immediately returned Wednesday.
“Use your words to start a dialogue rather than using your hands to destroy something,” Balanda said in the email, also noting he was “disgusted” and “disheartened.”
Ridgefield resident Alex Harris, who is on Ridgefield CT Pride’s advisory board, told the outlet “this sad incident is a perfect teaching opportunity” for the school.
“Schools are charged with imparting knowledge and understanding of reality to our youth,” Harris said. “Menstruation and trans- or nonbinary people are simple facts of reality that threaten no one.”
"Use you words to start a dialogue"? After the boys see what happens to anyone who dares to speak up against gender ideology? This is the same state that vilified girls for not wanting tomlose to boys on the girls track team.

Richard Trudgen, the distinguished scholar of the Yolngu, records a poisoning on the station in 1885.
The pastoralists came with one of their wagons, offering horsemeat to many of the clans . . . That evening they ate, thanking the pastoralists for their good gifts. It was only when some of the became violently ill that the Yolŋu realised the Balanda had tricked them with some strange sorcery . . .
Members of many clans died that day . . . Yolŋu struck back, fighting with spears against muskets and carbines.

‘Treaty’ by Yothu Yindi
‘Treaty’ released by Mushroom (1991), written by Mandawuy Yunupingu, Paul Kelly, Witiyana Marika, Stuart Kellaway, Cal Williams, Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, Milkayngu Mununggurr and Peter Garrett.
Tumblr media
(How Much Do You Know about Yothu Yindi?, 2021)
The origins of Yothu Yindi go back to the 1970s when three brothers, Djawa, Balupalu and Bakamana (later known as Mandawuy Yunupingu), were playing covers of western music at the Yolngu community of Yirrkala, a former missionary settlement.
Tumblr media
(Bloggerme, n.d.)
At this time, the group was known as the ‘Diamond Dogs’, referencing David Bowie’s album by the same name and symbolising the Yunupingu brothers’ Gumatj clan (Garrick, 2021, pp. 8). By 1984, the Yunupingu brothers had a new name, ‘Wawa Mala’ (Group of Brothers Band). They were influenced by Graeme Kelly a ‘Balanda’ (non-Aboriginal) from Yirrkala School and who was interested in fusing indigenous and non-indigenous music, eventually a major component of Yothu Yindi’s music. The lead singer, Mandawuy Yunupingu, had a passion for teaching, music and lyric writing:
Tumblr media
(ABC News, 2015)
‘…I wanted to become a teacher – in my spare time, I used to write lyrics that meant something to me.’ (ABC, 2022). He went on to be the first Aboriginal principal of a school and was later awarded an honorary doctorate.
By the mid-1980s, Mandawuy was playing with two nephews, Witiyana Marika on vocals, bilma and dance and Milkayngu Mununggurr on didgeridoo. They joined with ‘The Swamp Jockeys’, whose members included Stuart Kellaway on bass guitar, Cal Williams on lead guitar and Andrew Belletty on drums to form ‘Yothu Yindi’, also adding Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu on keyboard, guitar and percussion. ‘Yothu Yindi’ means ‘child and mother’. It is a metaphor for a relationship where both sides care for each other, ‘And that’s basically the principles that govern our lives…’ (Garrick, 2021, pp. 30). This was the first band in Australia’s history with first nation and non-first nation musicians collaborating.
In the 1960s, a bauxite mine was constructed without considering the Yolgnu people’s wishes. This became known as the Gove Land Rights case. The Yolgnu people took Nabalco Corporation to the Northern Territory Supreme Court. They were, however, unsuccessful. This was one of the earliest cases of Indigenous land rights in Australia and was the spark to ignite activism. Mandawuy comes from a family of activists, including his brothers Galararwuy, Gatjil and his father Munggurrawuy Yunupingu.
In 1988, The Barunga Statement of Aboriginal Rights was created by Indigenous leaders and presented to Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
Tumblr media
(Studies, 2021)
This was during the Barunga Festival, a celebration of Indigenous culture and sport. Hawke accepted the treaty and wanted to commit to negotiating for the Aboriginal people, but this never came to fruition. With the injustice Mandawuy’s people felt, and politicians failing to deliver their promises, the song ‘Treaty’ was born referencing these events.
youtube
The song was released in 1991 and was the first to include any indigenous Australian language in the lyrics and won song of the year at the APRA awards. The band draws upon ‘Manikay’; a series of songs passed down by generations of ancestors of Yolngu people (ABC Radio National, 2008). The song is a mixture of Yolgnu music and Balanda, the Balanda rock is provided by electric guitars, keyboard and drumkit. The Yolngu rhythms are created by the yidaki (digeridoo) and bilma (clapsticks). The main vocal is provided by Mandawuy though there is also a chorus of mixed Yolngu and Balanda voices (Tim Finn of Split Enz contributed to this). The form of the song conforms to the Balanda rock structure of verses and choruses with an instrumental ‘break’, and the process of intensity through repetition of short motives (Stubington & Dunbar-Hall, 1994), typical of a djatpangarri. The djatpangarri dance and song form is attributed to a famous Gumatj clan member, Dambidjawa (Metzenrath, 2019).
Tumblr media
Translations:
Tumblr media
The lyrics are in English and Yolngu. The mixing of indigenous and non-indigenous voices is represented in Yolngu ideology by the word ganma, describing the mixing of fresh water from a river with the salt water of the sea.
The song was first released on the Tribal Voice album and then as a single. It was released in the same year on CD as ‘The Filthy Lucre Remix’ which de-politicised the song, removing most of the English verses, though retaining the central message of ‘Treaty yeah, treaty yeah, treaty now’. However, it accentuated the Yolngu nature with lyrics from the language and greater prominence of the didgeridoo and bilma (Kerr, 2015). It was this version which became a rallying cry of the Aboriginal reconciliation movement which led to the Native Title Act of 1993.

Hills North of Mendra village Near Sonhat are known as Baland Pahar. The other view is that the Kol Raja had his capital in village Bachra near Podi and that time Raja was constructing his Capital at Koreagarh.
There is an Earthen mound at Bachra village and the villagers say that this was place where the Kol Raja had his residence. It is also possible that the Southern portion of Korea was ruled by the Kol Raja and the Northern portion by the Balanda.
This place is the origin of Hasdeo river.🏞️

It’s Toy Time Tuesday! With...Mia & Me Mini Unicorns! To prevent Breyer-overload, these store stock photos appear this week for Balanda (top) Flair (Rainbow hair) and Wind (blue) Mia & Me continues to sit there on Netflix, taunting world-viewers with CG unicorns that you can’t buy because the toys are only in Europe for whatever reason. How ‘mini’ are these? They don’t seem Shopkins sized, they’re probably more like G1 pony size if taking a guess. They’re all-right sculpt-wise...but the faces could use maybe a little help. Also notice how the bottom of the package hides the feet...Is that on purpose or just an accident? Each one is in a different pose, which is really nice though. Balanda has sculpted flowers for the mane, and the usual M&M ‘lion tail’, but the other two don’t. It’s interesting that they’re so different from each other, with the 2 having the ‘Klimt Pattern’, but the Wind doesn’t. The horns also all seem to be transparent plastic which is another great touch. Notice also that the Flair one has an actual rainbow in the hair with all the colors so they didn’t cheap-out. Sadly, these are super costly in the US, so no one much wants to pay big dollars for small unicorns like these where nobody can prove the quality because...well, nobody has any. Still, these are neat to see and “would collect”.

Since I wasn’t super attached to Rina or Imbi as my own characters, I didn’t want to specify their body types so everyone could project upon them more easily. I did actually draw Rina, but hesitated to link to the drawing in the fic because I didn’t want to force the image of her. But here’s fine, so whatever.
Tumblr media
I’m not very good at drawing, but this is my approximation of what Rina looks like. I was going to just say to imagine her leg was a prosthesis because I can’t frickin draw one of those, but I decided to try to draw it anyway. You would not believe the amount of time I spent looking for examples of dancers with prosthetics to land on this kind of shape. Out of all the dancers I watched, the one who seemed to move the best had one like this. That’s why I picked it for Rina, too.
I definitely failed on the shape of the dress. I wanted something a bit fluffier, but I am an absolute shit artist. I can’t draw something like that without a good reference, and I couldn’t find any. I did try, but it just made her hips look disproportionately wide.
I didn’t draw Imbi, though, because I still don’t know what she looks like besides “hard edges and monochrome”. Maybe yamato nadeshiko hair? Hm.
