To hell with principles; just give us more oil

I rarely drift into international politics here, but this thing has been lodged in my craw for two days now so I must cough it out:

So, our President goes to Saudi Arabia to bump the fist and kiss the ... whatever  ... of the prince of a murderous regime because it will give him the chance to beg for more oil to feed an American addiction that’s contributing  considerably to the destruction of our one and only Earth.

The irony is staggering.

Best case scenario:  Biden did it out of a sincere, but misguided, desire to bring economic relief to us gas-guzzling, infinitely entitled citizens of the U.S.

Worst case scenario: It was a purely political maneuver in which Biden, thinking of the upcoming elections, was trying to prove that he really is a tough and able anti-inflation warrior.

Both scenarios are deplorable.
