El primer paso hacia la libertad...

Había allí, junto a la puerta de las Ovejas, un estanque rodeado de cinco pórticos, cuyo nombre en arameo es Betzatá. En esos pórticos se hallaban tendidos muchos enfermos, ciegos, cojos y paralíticos. Entre ellos se encontraba un hombre inválido que llevaba enfermo treinta y ocho años. Cuando Jesús lo vio allí, tirado en el suelo, y se enteró de que ya tenía mucho tiempo de estar así, le preguntó: ―¿Quieres quedar sano? (Juan 5:2–6)

Jesús le hizo a este hombre una pregunta aparentemente ridícula: “¿Quieres ser sano? Es obvio, ¿no? Está en el estanque, ¿verdad? La única razón de estar ahí es para ser sanado. ¿Qué tipo de pregunta es ésa? ¡Claro que quería ser sanado!

Pero Jesús no estaba convencido. Este hombre había estado atascado en esta condición por mucho tiempo. No solamente estaba acostado por fuera, pero también por dentro.

A veces las personas se acostumbran a vivir en sus problemas. Aun cuando por fuera sigan con la rutina para liberarse (generalmente porque saben que eso es lo que se espera de ellos), por dentro se han dado por vencidos.

El primer paso hacia la libertad de sus problemas y de aquello que lo ata y restringe su vida es desearla: realmente querer ser libre.

Debe levantarse por dentro antes de que se pueda levantar por fuera.

Permítame ser muy directo y preguntarle: ¿quiere ser sano? ¿Realmente quiere que las cosas cambien? ¿O ya se ha acostumbrado a vivir bajo el talón del diablo?

Si está cansado de la derrota, la mediocridad y las ataduras, entonces levántese por dentro y diga: “¡Basta ya!”

Ése es el primer paso hacia la libertad.

“The God Who Heals” By Bayless Conley:

“One of the most powerful and precious names that God ascribes to Himself is the name Jehovah Rapha, translated in Scripture as “the Lord who heals.”

We find God describing Himself this way in Exodus 15:26, where He says,

“If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”

This is powerful because whenever God says “I am” something, it’s a revelation of what and who He is by nature. And He is, by nature, a healer.

The psalmist describes this attribute of God this way in Psalm 103:1-3,

Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.

If you believe He forgives all your iniquities, then you must believe His next statement, “Who heals all your diseases.” It is as much in God’s nature to heal as it is to forgive.

If there’s one area where people are searching for answers, it certainly is over the issue of healing. So many people are confused, misled, and missing out on a blessing God intends for their life.

One of the fundamental teachings of Scripture is that healing is conditional. In Exodus 15:26 quoted above, notice that the first word of that verse is “If….”

“If” is the biggest little word in the Bible. And what God tells us in this passage is there is a condition He places on healing…“If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep His statutes.”

Now, God is not requiring perfection. If you’re living for God and not consciously and willfully disobeying Him, then you have access to His healing. But if you’re living in known sin, it creates a barrier between you and God.

The Bible is very clear on this when the psalmist tells us in Psalm 66:18, “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear.” So one vital key to accessing the healing power of our Lord is to live honestly before God…obeying His Word to the best of our ability and being quick to repent if we miss the mark.

Today, focus on the God who heals. Give Him your heart and trust Him with all of your tomorrows.”

La búsqueda principal...

Ezequiel 33:30–32 nos muestra unas palabras directas y desafiantes por parte de Dios:

“En cuanto a ti, hijo de hombre, los de tu pueblo hablan de ti junto a los muros y en las puertas de las casas, y se dicen unos a otros: “Vamos a escuchar el mensaje que nos envía el Señor”. Y se te acercan en masa, y se sientan delante de ti y escuchan tus palabras, pero luego no las practican. Me halagan de labios para afuera, pero después solo buscan las ganancias injustas. En realidad, tú eres para ellos tan solo alguien que entona canciones de amor con una voz hermosa, y que toca bien un instrumento; oyen tus palabras, pero no las ponen en práctica.

Creo que para algunas personas la iglesia es como asistir a un concierto, especialmente si el predicador es carismático y la música es estupenda. No están escuchando para beber de la verdad de Dios y ponerla en práctica en sus vidas.

¿Cuál es la razón de esta desconexión? Las personas buscan algo más en sus corazones. Claro, sí asisten a la iglesia, escuchan, y hasta dicen “amén” en los momentos adecuados, pero no aplican la verdad de Dios a sus vidas. ¿Por qué? Porque están buscando algo más en sus corazones.

Esto es lo mismo que Pablo le decía a Timoteo en el devocional anterior. ¿Lo recuerda? Como Ezequiel, él dijo:Sus corazones andan tras sus ganancias.

Es muy sencillo: Si su enfoque está en las cosas, su enfoque nunca estará en el que creó todas las cosas. A lo que realmente se reduce esto es a esta pregunta: ¿Qué es lo que realmente está persiguiendo en su vida?

Si no es Dios, entonces su vida está tomando la dirección equivocada.

Dieu ne nous a pas donné un beau livre pour décorer notre bibliothèque. Il nous a offert le moyen de changer notre vie. A travers Sa Parole, Il a promis de nous guérir et de nous délivrer de toutes les “infections” qui risqueraient de la pourrir. Pourquoi donc tant de chrétiens négligent-ils de la lire chaque jour ? L’admirer parce qu’elle est une initiative divine ne leur permet pas de découvrir quel héritage Il a prévu pour eux. Conley Bayless raconte l’histoire de cette femme âgée à qui un chrétien vint rendre visite. Elle vivait chichement dans une maison délabrée. Vingt ans plus tôt, elle avait travaillé comme gouvernante d’une des femmes les plus riches de la région. Mais à la mort de celle-ci, elle avait perdu son emploi et son logement, et n’avait pu que se payer cette vieille maison en piteux état. Le visiteur en partant remarqua un document encadré accroché à un mur. Après y avoir jeté un coup d’œil, il demanda à la vieille dame s’il pouvait l’emprunter pour un jour ou deux. Elle répondit : “Bien sûr, mais ne le perdez pas et ramenez-le-moi dès que possible. Bien que je ne puisse pas lire, j’y tiens beaucoup, car c’est la seule chose que m’a donné ma patronne avant de mourir et cela me rappelle des jours heureux en sa compagnie. N’oubliez donc pas de me le rapporter !” Le visiteur l’emporta et le fit examiner par un expert. C’était un testament en bonne et due forme, écrit par la riche veuve, dans lequel elle léguait à son employée une somme considérable. Celle-ci aurait pu s’acheter une maison somptueuse et même se payer les services de personnel. Mais son ignorance l’avait emprisonnée dans la pauvreté qui était la sienne depuis tant d’années. La Parole de Dieu est une “lampe sur notre sentier” (Ps 119. 105). Elle peut nous guider à travers les méandres de la vie, à condition que nous la laissions éclairer notre route. Jésus a dit : “Heureux… ceux qui écoutent la parole de Dieu et qui l’observent !” Sa parole pour aujourd’hui est : “écoutez ce qu’elle vous dit et agissez en conséquence !”

La elección que Dios hace de las personas...

En 1 Corintios 1:26 dice: Hermanos, consideren su propio llamamiento: No muchos de ustedes son sabios, según criterios meramente humanos; ni son muchos los poderosos ni muchos los de noble cuna.

Dios no llama a muchas personas a quienes nuestro mundo consideraría sabios, nobles o poderosos. Él llama a unos cuantos así, pero no a muchos. La realidad es que Dios usará a cualquiera que ceda a Él.

La idea que Pablo quiere que comprendamos es que la mayoría de las personas que Dios elige son una sorpresa para los demás. Las elecciones de Dios generalmente no están en nuestra lista ideal de personas.

Piense en el mismo apóstol Pablo, el autor de estas palabras en 1 Corintios 15:9: “Porque yo soy el más insignificante de los apóstoles, que no soy digno de ser llamado apóstol, pues perseguí a la iglesia de Dios” (LBLA). Y las siguientes palabras de su boca son profundas: “Pero por la gracia de Dios soy lo que soy” (1 Corinthios 15:10 LBLA).

Pablo persiguió a los cristianos. De hecho, estaba tan lleno de odio que incluso fue a ciudades extranjeras para ordenar el arresto de cristianos, dividir familias, encarcelarlos, azotarlos y, en ocasiones ejecutarlos. Y, sin embargo, Dios eligió a Pablo como su portavoz.

Fue tan asombroso para muchos en la iglesia que no querían recibirle cuando fue salvo. Pensaban que era una trampa. Les llevó un tiempo para poder comprender que Dios realmente le había salvado y le estaba usando.

Pablo no habría estado entre sus candidatos para ser una vasija para Dios. Me encanta eso de Dios. Él utiliza lo inesperado y a aquellas personas que pasaríamos por alto para llevar acabo algunas de Sus obras más importantes.
